Description

Intensive and sensible, modern, and comfortably warm, masculine and gentle… Le Male is magnetically attractive fragrance which seduces with its uniqueness; it is built on contrasts: traditional and bold, fresh and mild, strong and sensual, in one word: absolutely irresistible for women. Fresh mint is a symbol of strength; the tradition is represented by lavender; vanilla gives warmth and tenderness. The top notes are composed of mint, lavender and bergamot. The heart is composed of cinnamon, cumin, and orange blossom. The base contains vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and cedarwood. It was created in 1995 by Francis Kurkdjian.

IMHO, this masterpiece lost the appreciation of many simply because it’s a classy scent which sadly made everyone to copy it’s scent DNA. It’s definitely appreciated to experienced noses and good to smell at the right event in cooler days.

This is a nice fragrance, very sweet vanilla-y for a masculine, but with powerful projection and instantly recognisable. Unfortunately for me this just smells like bars/clubs in early-mid 2000s, it seems every guy wore this back then!

I really think Le Male needs Viagra or Cialis added to its notes to make this current reformulation potent and great again.
I had a vintage bottle and I regret giving it away to my brother in law. I wish, I knew what I know now and never gave my almost full vintage bottle of Le Male away. I wish, I had a back up of the vintage before giving it away. Come to think of it, I am pretty sure that my brother in law enjoyed and had some great memories using the juice from that vintage bottle. I really don’t regret it, I just miss it so much…
I don’t mind re spraying or carrying an atomizer.

Le Male is the story of a sailor who get off to the ground after much time spent at sea. The same sailor who owns a woman for each port: Seductive then. The scent itself is something really commendable and I never thought to say it but the cinnamon here is the top together with mint (it will be because of this combination that I do not hate it?). The latter are the absolute protagonists, who seem never vanish until the vanilla shows up making the fragrance sweet but never cloying thanks to a particularly balanced amber. Curious and intriguing creation.Ben Done!

not a review… would like to know whether the PUIG Spain batches are newer than the one’s produced by PUIG in France!? I’m hearing conflicting reports.
Which one trumps the other in terms of smell/ performance? (I am aware the differences are minimal if at all!)

Well, i am a fragrance consultant by trade. In store this classic fragrance seems to have its loyal consumers. Personally, i think if you unsure what to use on a warm sunny day, the original le male is a very safe option. Since i work in fragrances, i try out different fragrances everyday. I can confirm that this is value for money. I disagree with Jeremey that you should stay away from this. Its an amazing scent, you will receive compliments. As an EDT the longevity is phenomenal, the dry down is stunning. Overall a solid 8/10 for me !!!

Reformulation question: I have a Puig version batch code 71251. This version has a sticker on the bottom, and not the super bold white stripes.
Just today I noticed a version, batch code 73331, with the bold white stripes, and no sticker on the bottom, but still said Puig.
If anyone knows if there is a difference between the Puig versions let me know, thanks.

This fragrance doesn’t work well on my skin, and my wife agrees. Worn it a number of times, and there is a grimy, sweat note that stands out each time I’ve tried it on. Has a vibe of “I was at the club, and this is what my shirt smells like the following day as I put it in the laundry bin.”
Just not for me, though please give it a try for yourself!

Le Male performance is superb on my skin ( Late 2017 Piug version) last all day on skin and last 2-3 days on cloth (even it washed) , in my opinion Le Male has better project and longevity on warm and humid weather and working great on my oily skin (natural skin oil could keep it last longer)

So, I have this frag… I thought it would be out of this world, but it wasn’t… Doesn’t last an half an hour on my skin…but maybe mines old? Could be…but it’s an OK scent for me.

Believe me the reformulation on this one is very noticeable. I had a pre reform bottle then went to replace it and what a difference! The bpi version was so weak and limp. I haven’t tried the puig one but have heard good things so fingers crossed.
Probably one of my all time favourite scents.

This is still a perfect fragrance, and I would say still A LOT better than most of the ‘more modern’ fragrances.
Over the years I’ve tried fragrances like Dior Sauvage, YSL La nuit de l’homme, Creed’s Aventus, Dolce Gabanna The One, Bleu de Chanel etc but yet, none of these are as good as Le Male i.m.o.
Le male is probably one of the only fragrances out there that I (and most of the women in my life) will never get tired of.
Oh, by the way, the whole ‘reformulation’ story is all a load of BS if you ask me. This fragrance is still a beast.
    10/10!!

    Wow
    Wow
    Wow
All time classic. Your first sniff will determine weather you will buy or not,
This is one of the best young man perfumes available. Powdery, vanillary, sweet smell to it, marketing says it all.
Day and night parfume for when you want to be noticed
    Fairly affordable for the quality
One of the longest lasting non offensive smells I know, girls will LOVE it
Lasts all day on skin and ALL MONTH on clothes, I’m not jokin
Huge Sillage so only use small amounts
Highly reccoment, but try it out first, may not be for you.

I have an unfinished bottle that is more that 10 years old. I really don’t like the smell on me, but I would get a lot of compliments wearing this. This is one the best compliment getter cologne. The smell is very unique and like no other. I have not tried the reformulated one, but this one lasts all day for like 2 or three sprays.

When I first got into fragrances again I loved this one and it was my favorite. I was new to anything but the fragrances I knew from my brother’s collection in high school (Cool Water, Obsession, Eternity) and my signature and only scent from high school and college: Drakkar Noir. Le Male was so new and different to me and i had never smelled anything like it. After just a year or so building my fragrance collection I’ve come to realize Le Male is not the breath of fresh air I thought it was and is actually a very common scent. Now, Le Male is not so special to me anymore. Thing is, it has nothing to do with Le Male on it’s own. Le Male is fabulous and a superstar! The one BIG problem for/with Le Male? It was a hit and everybody copied it. Now it seems generic due to cheap (but honestly not bad and quite good) imitators like Cuba Gold, Fujiyama Gentleman, Perry Ellis 360° White, and many others. So you can get a good, close clone for as little as $5 (Cuba Gold). It’s still VERY good but just not unique anymore as the scent is everywhere and there are so many clones. That fact does unfortunately detract from Le Male and lessens the overall specialness of this great fragrance. I still own it, wear it, and will purchase another bottle when this runs out but I no longer get that “I feel awesome because I just know I smell uniquely incredible” feeling when I wear this anymore. It’s not at all the fault of Le Male. This thing happens with all products all the time. Somebody makes a unique product that’s a sales hit (and making someone a ton of $$$) and shortly afterwards there are cheaper clones. Some good, some not so good. Right now, it’s happening to 1 Million. How many times in a review have you seen “reminds me of 1 Million” ? Exactly. Same thing happened here before 1 Million became the scent du jour. Oh well, it’s still nice but just not special any longer.
Still in my top ten because it truly is that good but I think I’ll check out Ultra Male.

  17. :

If your thinking about buying this, I did. 212 sexy is a clone and great scent but it’s warm spicy vs Le male is fresh spicy. Perry Ellis white doesn’t cut it and Cuba gold is a no. The recent PUIG reformulation I feel is superb. I’m really loving this bottle. Not vintage and never will be but it’s a must have in my opinion in this formulation.
Also very important to note, buy the small bottle, the big one is a different scent and also very watered down. I’m talking about PUIG

I love the quality of the scent but I am so sad that it does not last long or perform well at all. Still enjoy smelling it when I wear it for short events but will not buy it again.

Josesan was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do.
Suddenly, a spark illuminated his brain.
He took LE MALE by Jean Paul Gaultier out from his backsack and poured a few drops on his left arm.
The fragange made the world go round and Josesan remembered the moment he knew what happiness was and he let the memory live again.

I had a bottle of this for so many years. It probably lost its potency since I do not get much performance out of it. I sort of lost the appeal of its scent as well and moved to other more fresh/spicier fragrances. Definitely will not buy another one. I barely used half of it over many many years since I never liked the initial spray but once it dried down it got sweeter.
I sample the ultra male in store which was really sweet and I really liked that one so that will be my next on my list to get.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

Overall I like it, very special smell. However it’s a little overbearing if you spray too much of it. For me, one to two sprays max for this one. It is on the sweet side, not over masculine though.

  22. :

    3 out of 5

Wear Le Male as a casual scent and it’ll be your best friend, try to overextend it’s use and you’ll end up looking like a buffoon. It’s too dated to be a clubbing powerhouse, it’s too effeminate to be a stiff handshake and it’s too loud for date nights.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

    I got a 1.5ml sample.
The opening smells like mint bubblegum and it kinda smells like sitting on the dentists chair, getting stuff fixed in your mouth, sweet, minty, (in my opinion) artificial, but good and different.
The dry down smells like concrete and moss after it rained, like a warm tire and like that smell you sniff when you sit at the barbers, after receiving a hair cut (kinda like burnt hair).
Sounds awful, but it actually isn’t.
I just don’t know if I want to smell like this out in public.

The first time I ever smelled this was at my best friends house in like 2010. I picked it up and was blown away back then. It had such a great smell, inviting, aromatic, sexy and sweet. I knew this one would be a staple in my collection, sadly I’ve never purchased it but I have never forgotten how good it was. One day I’ll add this gem to my collection. This is a very lovable scent.

  25. :

    3 out of 5

I found an old sample (probably 2008-2010) in the back of a draw today.
I’d forgotten all about it and ironically I’d recently been wondering what this smelled like as I keep seeing references to Le Male on this site. As soon as I gave it one spray on my wrist, it all came flooding back to me. I obviously didn’t like this enough to even finish the sample (although I probably had a few of them) and I can see why now.
It’s too up and in your face, from the opening, it’s huge! I read some reviews saying its weak and doesn’t last, they must be recent editions as this is relentless. 3 hours solid projection and even survived a thorough wash and carried on as if nothing had happened.
It’s a nice smell, it just tries too hard if that makes sense? You could call it bold, or you could equally call it overbearing. At 44 I’m not going to wear this. One thing that surprised me was the similarity between Le Male and 212 Sexy by Carolina Herrara. The latter has some terrible reviews on here, although I used to like it and actually prefer it to Le Male as it’s more spicy and comfortable to wear.

wonderful smell, the opening is not bad but not good either, the real magic starts after about 20 mins, wow what a scent, but again after hours it starts to remind me of a certain lotion that was worn by a certain girl when I was in high school. Le male is not that manly. weak performance, good longevity but weak silage. I have had some compliments but I would still say it’s weak.I would love to smell the vintage le male. today i tried the Dior Sauvage EDP , wow, it’s a monster and I’m gonna decide on dior sauvage or Versace eros
    rating:
    scent……….7.5/10
    longevity…….9/10
    silage………..4.5/10
    overall……….5.5/10
    i won’t buy it again!

I get major powder/floral, some vanilla, and musk/spice/woody stuff going on. I know it’s a great juice but I couldn’t buy it. Extremely high quality juice, just not my style. Deff clean and “manly” but not worth the tag for me. Maybe I’ll come around. Smell before you buy it for sure. Glad I did.

How can I get my Hands on the original Version. my experience with the reformulated version is totally unimpressive. Plus there are a lot of knock-offs on every market now with a terrible dry down. I would appreciate a couple of Vintage le male.

I bought this fragrance back in 1995. The bottle was ahead of it’s time, and my girlfriend at the time loved the scent. I was traveling on an international flight to Europe, and was in love. The price was duty free, and my girl begged for me to purchase it. I hated it, but was afraid to say anything. I wore this everyday while on vacation, and asked my girl at the time, “Do I have to wear this?” She would beg PLEEEAAASE! I ditched the girl and the bottle. My life has been much better. If you like sweet fragrances that your significant other will love, this is the ticket. If you’d rather smell like a man, get some Armani Eau Pour Homme. LOL That time period had much better fragrances than this.

Versace Blue Jeans is by far more alike than Prada Luna Sport. As a matter of fact VBJ came in 1994 and Le Male in 1995 so Kurkdjian might have copied it.

Scored a 2010 edition and I must say it REALLY performs like a beast. More appropriately, like an elixir that transforms you into an ancient greek god. This must be how Zeus smells like with the silver hair, sharp face, strong arms and chiselled body. My 2016 edition just makes me feel like a tiny demi-god. Still good, but nothing compared to Zeus. Can’t wait for the 90s edition I’m receiving tomorrow.

What can I say about this masterpiece?
As Lot of people have mentiond, Le male is a victom of it’s own succes and that is true.
I bought Le male two years ago when I wasn’t in fragrance game. It was Love at first sniff like La nuit de l’homme. It just blew my mind away of how amazing it smells. But after couple of weeks I Sold it out because I undrestood that lot of people are familiar with this fragrance, and I haven’t got any compliments at all although I think Girls find This scent sexy.
To describe The scent I think it’s balance of everything. It has a freshness of mint that makes it waerable in summer days and has a smooth sweetness which makes it great for night outs. Casual or dressed up, Works great with white shirt.
Also it has one of The best dry downs ever, Opening is good but dry down is absolutely amazing. Spray it on your shirt and smell it next morning then you know what I mean.
Overall I think it’s a masterpiece and it’s famous for a good reason. If you live in a place that Le Male isn’t popular then I recomend you to Buy it, But I would not buy it again.

I have to stop for a moment to sing the praise of this delightful cologne that was created 2 years after JPG Classique. Normally I don’t advocate for couples to wear matching scents but in the case of Le Male and Classique they really compliment one another, and can be very lovely when a couple wears together.
The base of this cologne while still woody sweet was made much more masculine with the addition of tonka and cedar. While still feeling floral and fresh due to the orange blossom and bergamot, the spice combo of caraway, cardamom, mint and artesmia create a much more manly palate. The cinnamon keeps the powdery vibe going, and the addition of lavender gives that classic old school twist that makes this feel classic and debonair. Its clean, spicy, sexy, and yet classy. This does not feel like a mid 90’s fragrance to me. Gents please give this one a try!

  34. :

    4 out of 5

Tried this on at the Chicago O’Hare International Airport duty free shop during a long layover. Vanilla, mint and lavender are mainly what I get. Maybe some cinnamon and tonka as well. This has a cool, fresh feeling and a some sweetness. It is synthetic but powdery smooth and not too headache inducing. Kind of a sexy, cuddly scent. Lots of people will like it. I’m reminded of Bvlgari Black but without the rubber tire vibe and fresher. Performs very well one me; fairly priced and the bottle is cool. My only criticism is it smells like a deodorant or air freshener. A little lacking in character but still a nice scent.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

Without any doubt it is one of The Best scents ever created. It gives you and people around you feel comfortable. That vannila, lavender and mint combo is so damn good.
unfortunately it’s too popular and eveybody knows this scent DNA and it’s little bit dated to wear Le male these days.

    Dear haters
This is one of the world’s best selling fragrance of all time(around the world), so you guys think millions of bottles were sold every year because it bad? It synthetic and open like a bomb but a lot of people still love it!
Don’t listen to haters and judge it yourself.
I use this Le Male and it always works with me, the most of the girls love it and this is king of clubbing! Project over 12 hrs on my skin! and last so long over 24 hrs and still smell it on next day…
This is not fragrance for working, hot summer outdoor, sports or formal wear, but for night out whenever you want to outstanding from other night fragrance in the club that so strong just like 1Million, Fahrenheit, Suavage or Eros and to be a king on the dancing floor. If you guys expect something soft and smooth you can looking for women fragrance this isn’t for you. Know what purpose, know occasion to wear and know the idea behind creation better than complaining about it later.
(Oh yes. And respect the perfumer who created the fragrance that were sold so much more than your signature fragrance can.)

  40. :

Update: when you hug somebody and his or her perfume gets “transferred” onto you, then that fragrance is considered not “clean”, a specific term that has been used by perfumers. This Le Male is not a clean one at all.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

@robertsayamyan: I think it is the combo of overly sweet vanilla/cinnamon/lavender and very powdery vibe that have made you feel that way. IMO, it is not considered a “fresh” frag by any mean. It is more like a sickening sweet one, and not in a way that can smell good even as a female perfume. When I sniff scent like this, I always imagine a person with “Casanova” characters would smell like :)) Don’t know why but so sorry, not a fan 🙂 and don’t mean to offend anyone who likes it. It is just an opinion.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

Can someone explain what is that sickening sweet opening? Because I want to throw up everytime I spray it on me. After I few minutes it becomes less aggressive but still, it reminds me of a medicine, that I took when I was ill and it made me to throw up everytime…
Edit: It lasted more than 12 hours, and even when I woke up I could still smell it. This kind of frydowm is so much better then the opening.

  43. :

it’s not only my thought but also the thoughts of most here. Are only personal opinion.. Personally i never liked alpha male masculine scents becaus they alsmot smells like grandpa scents! The versatility is fantastic for me, more than you think, and it is fresh because sweet approach is moderate, nothing like others sweet scents. Longevity is not the best, unfortunately but is so fucking pleasant. I tried aventus and all girls was disguted and told me that i smell like grandpa, than i destroyed the bottled to the ground!

  44. :

    3 out of 5

@Zenais86 I’m baffled by your review, I find the perfume totally opposite of what you described. Not fresh, not even with the mint, the opening doesn’t last too long for this perfume to be considered fresh (I would say is the alcohol, not a note) but I would say powdery. For me is not versatile if only because I don’t consider it a masculine scent, not even unisex, but I get a “tobacco vibe” that makes it not be feminine neither so… but I feel I have to be careful of where I use it to enjoy it comfortably. Performance: I have more than 160 perfumes I think, including my wife’s, and among all of them JPG’s are one of the only ones with true longevity and projection.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

it is a fresh scent for me… high versatility, no matter where but it is so good! but damn… performance suks a little…. sadly! this can be the perfect fragrance if only the longevity and performance was stronger… 🙁

  46. :

    4 out of 5

Based on the notes, I should’ve run away screaming from Le Male. Vanilla, tonka, cinnamon, amber…I strongly dislike heavily sweet and sticky scents and I am particularly wary of vanilla.
    But ohhhhh god
Le Male is SO GOOD. Sweet, yes, but not overly. Vanilla, yes, but tempered. I’m trying to figure out what notes are keeping me from smelling like a spiced morning bun. Who cares? It’s divine.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

A beautiful scent! I like it because it is so similar to Amouage Reflection man by less spices and resins! Because I would like to have same DNA some times spicy and some times clean. When I like the clean DNA I wear Le Male when I want resiny spicy I go for reflection man. I cannot really understand the people who says performance is sucks! What they expect than a fragrance??? 72 hours longevity and 48 hours projection??? I think 6/8 hours longevity and 2 hours good projection is enough man! I believe that the performance by this one is pretty good if you are not fan of chemical attack!

  48. :

    3 out of 5

Still a great scent. Just got this bottle from 2017, good, not great longevity, but still very good. That vanilla, mint, cinnamon and lavender for a powdery smooth fragrance that fetches uncomfortable in your face comments from complete strangers on the daily.
    Scent 9
    Longevity 6.5
    Sillage 6.5
    Quality 7.5
This is obviously much better than 3.70 rating in the real world. Some people thinks it’s older and copied too much like Cuba gold. It’s still outstanding
I wore this 2 days ago and it still smells great every time I spray it on.

I can’t, for the life of me, understand the inconsistency of the reviews for the PUIG version of Le Male.
I can’t understand the hate either.
I have two different PUIG bottles of Le Male, and they are very strong in the performance category. The scent itself is not an obnoxious “bomb” either–it smells very smooth and well done.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Le Male. It changed the name of the game when it was first released. It is very green, minty, a little floral, and has a huge wow factor. The vanilla is so smooth and creamy, and combined with that lavender and cinnamon… OH MY. Sexual goodness.
Le Male is also loved very much by the fairer sex.

  50. :

    5 out of 5

@ nena222: Thats what I said some time ago – the current fragrance from PUIG is really crap. It is not noticeable. Even more worse than BPI!

  51. :

    3 out of 5

Just bought yesterday 125m for 75e in Ireland. Batch 2016 Puig, it is crap. After 30min smell completely disappear. Not worth money.

  52. :

    5 out of 5

After my initial disappointment with BPI version I have tested in March this year, I decided to check if the rumors about PUIG version were true, and Le Male is great again.
What a weird case is with this scent! It does look like PUIG not only improved performance of the scent, but also changed it a little bit!
What we get is vanilla, mint, lavender, cinnamon & tonka all the time, while the previous iteration (vintage) at least had some nuances added to it (like you could have noticed cardamon, cumin or woody-base). It still smells like Le Male though, but for most users who had vintage one PUIG iteration, may seem to be a little plasticky & shallower than vintage *. I`m not the biggest fan of sweetness in aftershaves but this one is exceptionally well done!
    * Although I did not test it during colder months, so lack of certain ingredients may be either my nose fatigue or they may come up in Autumn or Winter.
    —————————————
Longevity for PUIG: 10-12 hours easily
    Longevity for BPI: 8-10 hours
    Projection for PUIG: 2-3 hours
    Projection for BPI: 1-2 hours
    —————————————-
Small improvements, but bottle worthy in my book!

I’d wear the heck out of this.
Very gentle minty lavender with a comforting vanilla base. Just WOW! Definitely in my top 10 favorite smells.
Update: I’m indeed wearing the heck out of this absolute beauty today. I feel sexy and magnetic, relaxed yet energized! Never thought I’d ever feel like this wearing a perfume that’s marketed towards men. Anyways, it is an amazing scent.
Longevity is A1 as it lasts forever on my skin imagine on my clothes.
Will definitely add this gorgeous one to my collection.
    10/10

    @jcb0920
I had a bottle in 2008. The opening really filled up a room. But it didn’t fade in a few minutes like you said. It lasted a long time, projecting heavily. Seems like the bottle you have has gone bad 🙁

  55. :

    5 out of 5

Having recently received a sample of Le Male that came with another fragrance purchase, I remembered how much I enjoyed this scent. I’d never owned a bottle from the early years which I’d heard were beastly in both performance and sillage. So I set out to find a vintage bottle and experience this wonderful fragrance at its peak.
I just got a bottle I bought from a reliable seller on Basenotes with a batch code of HSZ74 X. If my internet sleuthing is remotely accurate, that puts this 4.2 oz tester bottle somewhere around 2000-2001. I gleefully tore open the packaging and sprayed my arm ready to be choked out of the room by its intensity…it’s not quite what I was expecting. There almost seems to be a vegetal quality to it in the opening that I’m pretty sure isn’t mint. A few minutes later I could hardly smell it at all. So I either went anosmic to it immediately or something’s off.
Again, this isn’t a knock or criticism against the seller, the bottle appears totally legit. I guess I was expecting more. TBH, I like the way the sample I received not to long ago more than this vintage bottle. There are a few more bottles around the same time period I’m considering buying but if it’s not going to be the stuff of legend then I may just buy a current release bottle.
I’d be interested if anyone has insight they’d be kind enough to share.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male it was created in 1995 by Francis Kurkdjian. It opens with notes of Fresh mint is a symbol of strength; the tradition is represented by lavender; vanilla gives warmth and tenderness. Intensive, modern and comfortably warm, masculine and gentle…it’s still dizzy smell (i don’t like it) when you put it on so close to skin..but if you put it between more 15cm…and Don’t put it many time the smell it’s nice!! (i had tested it)
    Sillage: 9/10
    Longevity: 10/10

The latest bottle I bought will be my last. I really loved this fragrance – but now it is so much watered down that it is not detectable. Shame on you PUIG.

It’s a very transparent scent and does not last long. The sweetness is totally out of place- unusual for a male fragrance. It’s neither here nor there.

Rain water…5 min of projection and longev!
This perfume its like an old crocodile politician who wants to steal all your money and your blood if possible for no reason!

First impressions:I have supposedly a 2012 version but I don’t have any other iterations to compare to. However, I do have Cuba Paris Gold. The only difference between the two is Gold is minty-pear vanilla and Le Male is cinnamon-mint vanilla.

I was devastated with this one :/
I loved its bright, and soft opening with bergamot, mint, and orange blossom for less than few minutes, but the dry down (even just half way thru) completely threw me off. It was the “sweet” and VERY “powdery” vibes that I could not give it my vote, because of the intertwined “madly in love” relationship between vanilla and cinnamon with the encouragement of lavender. Tonka bean and cardamom did not stand a chance and couldn’t do a thing to help either 🙁

This smells really good, but it’s overplayed.

My most hated fragrance. Headache in a bottle. Can’t stay close to someone wearing it.

Oh wow, this stuff smells phenomenal! It has my favorite note, vanilla, featured very prominently. Yet, it’s not a feminine vanilla, which is kind of hard to pull off with something sweet like vanilla. I have a simple nose that can’t pick out individual notes beyond the obvious so all I get is a nice vanilla. Yup, this one makes me smile and my nose is happy that I stink good.
    Update:
I’ve now smelled enough cologne to be able to give just a bit more description. So…
    1.) Le Male: mint vanilla.
2.) Eros: apple, citrus, mint vanilla
3.) Sun Java: watermelon, orange vanilla (great for summer)
    4.) Pi: almond, amaretto vanilla
    5.) Opium: mid 80’s women’s perfume, super-spice room-filling bomb, vanilla (not a fan)
6.) Black Vanilla Absolute: boozy, powdery vanilla (my fav)
7.) Reyane Tradition: simple but very nice vanilla
8.) Ted Lapidus Pour Lui: lavender vanilla
9.) Perry Ellis M: spicy vanilla
10.) Cremo Bourbon Vanilla: woody, bit spicy, bourbon vanilla
11.) Adidas Victory League: good smelling citrus vanilla that lasts 30 minutes
12.) Molinard vanilla (blue purple bottle): labeled unisex but cupcake sweet vanilla too sweet for guys.
Hope this somehow helps any of you looking for a vanilla cologne. There’s no meaning to the order above as I own them all but I would definitely place Opium last.

Great smell with shitty longevity and sillage. Not recommended!

Vanillic and sweet, with a hazy almond type scent which might come from the combination of tonka and cedar. It smells a lot like marzipan to me. Nice, but too sweet for my tastes. In my opinion it is more wearable than Hypnotic Poison, though.
This is not a crazy or wild scent. It’s rather well behaved, just too sweet.
I don’t particularly like it on me, and I can’t see liking it on a man either.

I have JPG Le Male on my right wrist and Cuba Paris on my left wrist. Let me share my thoughts.
    (Initial 10 minutes)
Le Male: Hits VERY strong with mint which suppresses vanilla [70%mint, 30%vanilla]
Paris: Faint mint with pronounced vanilla [30% mint, 70%vanilla]
    (1hour dry-down)
Le Male: Still moderate mint but vanilla starts to surface [50% mint, 50% vanilla]
Paris: Mint note disappears and you are left with soft vanilla [10% mint, 90% vanilla]
    (5hour dry-down)
Le Male: Mild mint and gorgeous vanilla [20% mint, 80% vanilla]
    Paris: All vanilla [100% vanilla]
Bottom line: I had to resist myself from biting my wrist because both of them smelled so tasty.

This is more of a story than just a review. I’m in my late 30s and was once known for wearing Givenchy Pi, back in the late 90s as a high school and college student. As I got older, I pulled away from the Pi’s heavy vanilla scent and mostly pulled away from all vanilla fragrances. My first job while in high school and college was at a Proffit’s/Belk which made buying the Givenchy that much easier since it was ju
