Description

The Château de Versailles and Maison Guerlain have decided to collaborate in order to launch a limited and numbered edition of an as yet unreleased fragrance, available through subscription only, in favor of the restoration of the royal appartments at Versailles.

Born of the initiative and of the shared endeavor of two prestigious houses that embody the expertise and excellence of France, the fragrance Le Bouquet de la Reine (The Queen’s Bouquet) was created by in-house Guerlain perfumer Thierry Wasser.

Guerlain presents this new exclusive perfume on February 17, 2016 and it will only be available until May 17, 2016.

Perfumer Thierry Wasser, inspired by the gardens of the castle of Versailles and Trianon, carefully selected the ingredients to make this fragrance, highlighting jasmine, one of queen Marie-Antoinette’s favorite flowers adorning her lodgings at Petit Trianon. The fragrance opens on fresh and hesperidic notes of galbanum and bergamot. Later, the sensual scent of jasmine Grandiflorum, which comes from Calabria, is garlanded with spring-like fresh flowers: lily of the valley, cyclamen, and freesia. The base of the fragrance is constructed on white musk and light amber. Le Bouquet de la Reine updates the edition Cour des Senteurs Versailles which was issued by Guerlain previously.

The perfume is issued in a 125 ml size of the classic Quadrilobé bottle, a reincarnation of the bottle of Rue de la Paix from 1908. It is issued by verreries Brosse (founded in 1892 in the Valee de la Bresle), this time decorated with the Sun King medallion, representing the radiance of Louis XIV who originally moved his court from Paris to Versailles in order to give it greater independence and to disassociate it from the wars of the aristocracy. The sun medallion, used by Louis XIV, was inspired by the sun-god Apollo, who precided over the arts.

The jewel on the Quadrilobé bottle is signed by Haute Couture parurier Desrues. The French house, founded in 1929, deploys its exceptional expertise in the demanding metal work, gilding or crimping to give birth to a sculptural golden orb with fine gold of 23 carats, shaped by craftsmen goldsmiths.

The fragrance itself is Jasminora re-issued with a different name and bottle. (As per Monsieur Guerlain website)

A complex and flowerful composition where no flagrance dominates the other (galbanum, jasmin, cyclamen and lily of the valley), the very features inherited from Jasminora.
Almost flowers only as the bergamot is not really coming through except at the very beginning.
Surprisingly, though this is an extract, ii is not as long lasting as Bouquet de la Mariee, but it is definitely a masterpiece, both the parfume and the bottle. I guess that given the price (550€), they haven’t sold it out as it is erroneously stated above: I bought it 2 weeks ago on Champs Elysees.
