Description

Jean Paul Gaultier is launching a new fragrance for men, LE BEAU MALE, which arrives on the market in March 2013. With its memorable composition and combination of ingredients, this fragrance offers a unique game of hot and ice-cold notes. The new fragrance Le Beau Male is created to accentuate erotic potential of each man and to stimulate all sense. ”This is the scent of freshness which makes men hot.” – announces Jean Paul Gaultier.

It is possible to make a parallel with the cult le Male edition, since perfumer Francis Kurkdjian wanted to remind us of the formula and to create a new fragrance while accentuating accords which were not attended closely. The new creation carries the scent of freshness, and is very seductive and powerful, while reminding us of hot fingers sliding over cold, moist glass. The composition highlights a fine cocktail of fresh and moist mint and absinthe making the composition lighter and cooler. Lavender adds a calming effect playing with orange blossom combined with sage. The base incorporates a sensual trail of musk closing the composition.

Flacon is shaped like all previous editions of the le Male collection. Man’ torso is colored in ice blue with light blue, metallic stripes over his chest. Ice cold white color accentuates juiciness and freshness, while blue metallic stripes restrain strength and energy. Metal outer packaging remains unchanged. LE BEAU MALE is available as 75 ml and 125ml EDT. Besides EDT, 75 gram deodorant stick will also be available. Advertising face is Kaylan Falgoust who is posing naked on ice in pin-up style of the 50es.

To me this smells just terrible. I find it smells a lot like aqua amara tbh.but without the enjoyable orange opening. Le beau male to me smells like a Lysol product and is very linear I have never disliked a fragrance more then this one. I tried to like it. But every time I would end up washing it off or even showering to get it off. I also dislike aqua amara. But only in the dry down as to me it smells just like le beau male, the opening however is nice.

I crashed at my good friend’s place. I showered and saw this on his bathroom window sill.
“I’ve heard so much about this, it must be good”, I thought.
The initial spray left me thinking that maybe this bottle had gone rancid. Except, that’s highly unlikely considering he almost soaks himself in cologne- so it would never have had the time to do it.
No, I’m afraid, rancid is just how I perceive this scent to smell. It’s incredibly confusing.
It’s like smelling a warm salty toffee pudding from afar, getting closer to sniff it… and there’s a strange note of a restaurant garbage bin emanating from the very thing you’re supposed to like.
I’ve tried it twice now… I’ll try it again just because I’m stubborn. But chances are, my mind is made up.

This literally made me smell like a horse! 🙁
Luckily though, I can now LARP as a farmer with impeccable accuracy.

Today I had a chance to test it on my wrist, while I was having Le Male Eau Fraiche Airlines on another one.
Not only this one was smelling better (more natural and appealing), longer (what was kind of surprising, because you can read a comment that it does not last) and fresher (the name – Eau Fraiche – may be a bit misleading) what surprised me a lot!
On the corp of flacon, I used to spray my wrist was a tiny, blue square element saying “noveau”.
I don`t know if it has been reformulated (as previous bottles did not have it as far as I remember) after changing from BPI to PUIG, but this one seems to stand out from bunches of Le Male flankers.
Plus with plenty of negative comments, seeing this product in lots of local discounters with low price, and all-in-all impression that it`ll be taken from the market soon I am surprised that 4 years after its launch, it is still available and it had a few collector editions.
It does not pretend to be Le Male, or Le Male with one or two different ingredients. It is just a different one, done better than average aquatic cologne.
EDIT: Le Beau Male in its drydown resembles a bit of Montblanc Legend and, and on the top and medium notes (just on certain degree) Prada Luna Rossa. Hence if you like any of those mentioned, you may like Le Bau Male (:
EDIT 2 (31.03.2018): Got myself 5 ml decant of Le Beau Male no idea which batch and if PUIG or BPI. Again similar to Montblanc Legend, a bit of Cool Water and tiny bit of Luna Rossa. I`d say about 6-7 hours range of lasting while 1 hr projection (noticeable till 2nd hour after applying). Nice and if you do not have any other cheapies – bottle worthy. I`ll use my decant but will not get a bottle.

This is weird – I can’t see why this would have such a low rating and it would get so much hate.
Does it have anything in common with original Le Male (that I by the way love)? No. Does it mean I don’t like Le Beau? No!
Le Beau is incredibly versatile aquatic/herbal safe to go scent.
I get mint, lavender. It’s refreshing, it’s masculine, it’s charismatic. As already someone mentioned – it has a sort of cologney vibe to it.
Perfect masculine and energizing fragrance for spring/summer. JPG says: ”This is the scent of freshness which makes men hot.” I agree, it smells sexy to me.
    To me solid 8,5/10.

It smells minty, sexy and spicy. It’s beautiful light with its classic lavender. It has grown on me to be honest. I love it.

    Very, very cool.
Typical cologne that you wear in the morning after getting ready.
Nothing original, to be Jean Paul Gaultier’s, I expected something sweeter but it is nice and fresh, it is the colony that is used when there is nothing to wear, is very summery.
It smells clean and lavender and mint is what is most appreciated. The duration is not much … a few hours, it is that it is really soft.

  9. :

    3 out of 5

I could understand someone loathing this fragrance if they have an affinity for the original. I can no longer enjoy the original scent as I find it to be excessive in every regard. Along with the original Joop!, JPG is an excessively sweet scent that deliberately cuts through the air to sell it’s own presence.
Le Beau Male is a fresh and airy scent that utilizes it’s floral and green notes as the primary players in it’s formula to give a unique and fresh scent.
It’s a bit cheap smelling but shouldn’t come as any surprise from the house of JPG. Cheap does not necessarily mean bad quality. One of the greatest thrillers, The Blair Witch Project, was filmed with a micro budget and is regarded as a classic.
Le Beau Male is a more refined take o JPG’s cheap “chic”, something they take pride in their advertising. Great for spring/summer. Try it for yourself and don’t let the over exaggerated reviews make you too doubtful.

After an hour this boy is long gone, man. Does not project. People only smell it in the first ten minutes after applying then it becomes a skin scent. Actually not that bad if you you spray at least 20 ml on yourself.
Masculine, but a little boyish to me. Something that a 16-17 year old would wear to a house party. Forty dollars for this is a total scam.
    Scent: 4/10
    Projection: 1/10
    Longevity: 1/10

Used to have this one but I am not buying another bottle. My gf liked it but I think its boring and smells cheap, still a Jean paul gaultier fan.
Edit: Smells a bit like Mont blanc individuelle

  12. :

It’s a sexy and playful fragrance. Wear it when you want to attract girls or just want to smell sexy. This is definitely not for older people I say this as a young man. To me if sex was a fragrance this would be it.
Longevity was about 10 hours to me. I sprayed 5 times before going to work and I could still smell it when I left work.
The first few hours are the main scent and then it starts to dry down and becomes something a little bit different what I still like.
Sillage is lightweight, pleasant and not in your face, which I think is awesome.

  13. :

    3 out of 5

I got it for cheap but i think i got a cheap juice too i really regret buying this fragrance due to his terrible skin scent smell and no more sillage just fade within a half an hour very terrible.

Smells green and aquatic to me. I don’t like this a bit. It has practically nothing in common with original Le Mâle.

Smell is fresh, nothing special. Longevity is bad. It’s good I guess for jogging in the summer. Keeps you energised :/

When I’m watching sports I usually root for the underdog. I was rooting for Le Beau Male with all its poor reviews when I made a blind purchase but it’s a pass for me as well.
I was looking forward to the mint and absinthe/wormwood opening but I’m not getting much of this at all. I can’t really pick out much of what I’m smelling but it’s very light and boring.
I can’t understand why Gaultier would keep this and discontinue other big sellers like Ultra Male.

  17. :

    5 out of 5

Really bad, absolutely no resemblance to the original masterpiece.
Smells like some cheap celebrity release.
Surprised JPG are still selling this.

Launched in March 2013, Le Beau Male came to the market bringing the freshness of annual summer editions, within the huge line of Le Male fragrances, and eventually became a kind of pillar, which generated other variations after its release.
The chosen perfumer was, again, Francis Kurkdjian, who tried to create a clash between the sensuality of the original fragrance of Le Male with the coolness of the Arctic, as if the sailor of yore, now sailed on frozen seas. The advertising campaign brought a nude model lying on the skin of a polar bear. According to Jean Paul Gaultier, at the time of the launch: “This is the scent of freshness which makes men hot”.
It has notes of frozen mint and wormwood, on top. Then, the lavender arrives hand in hand with notes of sage and orange blossom. At the base, only musk.
Le Beau Male is completely different from Le Male. It is one of those flankers that carry nothing from the DNA of the original version. So, in this regard, it is worth saying that it was an innovative attempt made by the company. However, it leaves much to be desired for those who expect a more familiar aroma.
When applied on the skin, the fragrance is bitter and chilled, conveying a perfect content of the head notes. But it does not evolve much more than that and also doesn’t manage to present the beautiful nuances of the orange blossom, always so poignant and delicate. Perhaps, if the body notes were richer and exhaled more, the fragrance could have a better result. Particularly, I think it was no more than a fresher version that could have been released apart the Le Male line. At least, it lasts medium.
To conclude, the visual identity was maintained, bringing the famous male torso of the sailor, but the bottle is iced-blue this time, with stripes in a tone of metallic blue. It was marketed as Eau de Toilette Fraîcheur Intense.

Uma grande decepção, a abertura é deliciosa, refrescante sensação de gelado mesmo, após alguns minutos vem o pesadelo, aroma vagabundo parecendo urina ! além de ser fraco e não projetar nada, não vale metade do que custa, não recomendo !

It was a blind buy at the duty free store, immediately after Le Beau Mâle release. They even had no testers yet for this brand new scent. I was intrigued and expected something like pleasant summer cologne with a classic Le Mâle vibe. To be true, I was disappointed first: it was completely different fragrance, and it was fresh, reminding of all those faceless soapy safe ‘sport’ scents which I always ignored, both mentally and physically. But I had to give Le Beau Mâle a chance – it was already at home, 125 ml bottle. So I put it on for few days, without much enthusiasm though. The result was interesting: I didn’t enjoy it too much, but I definitely was pleased by the character of Le Beau Mâle – yes, fresh (absinthe) and rather clean (mint), but at the same time sexy (orange blossom) and playful (musk), with an invisible touch of original Le Mâle concept (lavender). I can say that same story happened to me with other Gaultier fragrances in the torso flask. Initially, I was not happy nor with Fleur du Mâle, nor with Le Mâle Terrible. Later they found themselves in my collection, each with it’s very special mood, each unique. I don’t think that all these fragrances can be as successful and versatile like original Le Mâle, but all of them are definitely interesting, with rather good longevity and sillage. The only one which I don’t own and don’t plan to buy is Ultra Mâle – I just guess it’s too much to make one intense version of the classic Le Mâle after another. Maybe it’s time for Jean Paul to create something new?

Weak! Weak! WEAK! You just gotta feel sorry for those poor souls who invested in jumbo 200ml bottles of this pretentious and expensive claptrap. Sub-eau de cologne levels of projection and longevity – it withdraws into a barely perceptible skin scent on me within an hour of heavy spraying – make this a ‘redundant’ (read ‘ridiculous’) choice for most punters.
(See it as a summer spritzer, a FEEBLE summer pick-me-up/spritzer ONLY, and you might not be so disappointed)

I normally find JPG le male to be too powdery for my taste and the minty tone of this actually works much better as a warm weather scent to my nose. If you like Most “sport” style scents this would be a nice, less “athletic” alternative.

Let me start by saying that I haven’t smelled the others from this house.
Now, I’m bad at describing scents but let me tell you my experiences with this fragrance. First off, I personally really like it. I bought this before I was into fragrances. Walked into a Macy’s, smelled pretty much everything, and chose the best smelling fragrance, to myself. That was this fragrance.
It’s really hard to describe this fragrance, but here is what I think: it’s definitely a men’s fragrance without being “masculine.” I just don’t see a rugged man wearing this. This is the clean, more fashionable fun guy fragrance to me. I think it’s a good social gathering or night out fragrance, even though it works just fine in the day. I say that because it’s very likeable. It would be hard to find someone that this fragrance annoys, in my opinion, and I’ve had no complaints after 2 years of occasional usage. It starts fresh and almost (key word: almost) unisex, which feels light and nice. I smell maybe some kind of smooth herb or flower, but then, as this dries down, it becomes more and more masculine, and more and more enjoyable. It loses its overwhelming likeability (not in a bad way) and seems to become a more daring scent. It never becomes dark or heavy… It makes me think of the progression of a party. At some point later on, the party becomes more serious, down to the good stuff, and the gloves are off, despite how innocent it may have began, and that’s exactly how I feel about this fragrance.

I got a 75 ml bottle as a gift and it’s my first day wearing it. I read the reviews and now I’m confused a little bit. I don’t actually understand the hate for this fragrance. I kind of liked the smell of it. It’s been about 7 hours and I can easily smell it on me. It is not projecting that much but that is not a bad thing for office use.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

I am actually very pleased with this blind buy! I had recently wore Le Male this Winter and enjoyed it. I wore this around today and the scent is very nice for a warmer/sunny day. It is really fresh- some mint and lavender mixed nicely together. Do NOT expect this to be like Le Male, but if you like aromatic/fresh fragrances, you will enjoy this. 🙂
Others have said it smells kind of like Silver Mountain Water (which is my signature scent), and it has a metallic vibe to it like SMW, but that’s the only reason people would say that.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

This is my first actual Le Male purchase, and I’m pleasantly surprised having never smelt this one before. I get a strong mint smell which normally would give me migraines but this however doesn’t it’s wonderful.
I’ve tried others in the Le Male line but this is one I’m glad to have blind bought.

  29. :

    3 out of 5

I Don’t know why all the hate for this fragrance. I just received it in the mail and this is awesome. It does have a sour note but really done well. It doesn’t remind me of anything else out there and definitely not the original le male. Its performing really well with two sprays to the hand. I guess average performance so far nothing beastly. The best thing about this fragrance is that it transitions unlike the trend out there right now not much though but it does

  30. :

This is not everyone’s cup of tea, as the reviews clearly show, but I love this fragrance ever since I was sent a sample with another purchase.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

This one smelled pretty good, but was nothing great. There is a ton of other summer scents out there that are way better. I wore it for a few days and it got annoying after a while. My wife liked it and I got a few good complements wearing it, but in the end I went ahead and sold it.
    On me it lasted 4-5hrs.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

This one smells cheap to be honest. It has like a fresh and minty vibe to it but it’s not worth the money. It reminds me of an Adidas body spray I used to have like 6 or 7 years ago, and that was like 2-3 bucks.
It is not a bad smell so to say, but it’s cheap, having a body spray vibe to it. I have a sample of this, but if I had made the mistake to buy a bottle of this I would have used it as a body spray.
Stay away from this, don’t expect the unexpected.

This fragrance smells good plain & simple it has got a little le male in it at least with the first initial spray longevity is ok lasts about 4 or 5 hours halfway through it sits close to the skin I get what some of you guys posted on here that it has a funny smell to it I believe that heavy smell is like a floral powdery smell with a little musk but it only lasts about 20 minutes then it mellows out overall it’s different from le male this is a nice spring summer scent and last my girl enjoys it she likes it so does a handful of women on my job 7/10
Update: nice little combination try le beau & le male summer together smells interesting I’ve done it a few times already and got a handful of compliments since trying

Ok so I tried this on a card & loved it, bought it the next day. However once on the skin it stinks, it starts off really nice but within 5 minutes (on me at least) it smells off? Like its rotten, I can’t describe it. Maybe it’s just on me I don’t know but I wish I’d tried it on my skin before I bought it because I would have never have got it.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

    I dont want no mediocre.
Yeah to me this smells very ordinary. This isnt unpleasant in any way, its just unexciting. An easy pass for me. Longevity and sillage are moderate at best.
The opening is actually quite pleasant, I get a fresh sweet feel… no mint in the opening for me. The mint comes to the fore a little later on. Mint is one of my favourite notes but I think its better as a complimentary note which accentuates everything around it. Here it is the main note resulting in a minty chewing gum scent.
    Scent : 10/20
    Longevity : 5/10
    Projection : 6/10
Total : 5.25/10 … Thanks, but no thanks.

The Gaultier team at least deserves credit for finally getting back to releasing off center creations that are anything but industry standard under the Le Male monicker. Especially after so many bland Summer releases and a rather insipid Terrible release that showed a lack of creativity by the brand and a tendency to rely far too heavily on the packaging and name recognition to sell. This is an extremely aromatic and clean fresh fragrance that owes a great deal of its inspiration to the light and floral Fleur du Male in the concept to move away from the vanilla essence of almost all the other flankers. Otherwise it is uniquely different when it comes to the juice. Where Fleur du Male hits you over the head with floral bombast and orange blossom, Le Beau Male is far more reserved and green. It’s springy like no other Le Male release.
Le Beau Male is a big dose of wormwood of the top with a light and organic mint note that strikes a big change from the original synthetic mint that dominated the original and turned heads for its originality. This is subdued and right off the bat makes one aware that this is no typical Le Male flanker, this one dares to go in a different direction. The top sticks around as the middle comes forward, adding some soft lavender and nicely toned down orange blossom. They all seem to coalesce without anything really dramatic happening. Around the three hour mark the dry down asserts itself and you get a soft musky sage and green aromatic feel with the lavender, wormwood, orange blossom and light mint all sticking around until around the 6-7 hour mark when the dry-down becomes mostly sage, leftover lavender and a soft musk. Longevity is pretty solid for such an organic and subtle scent at consistently between 7-10 hours with projection seemingly tailoring off but in truth still holding at moderate well into the depth of the dry-down. It’s nothing all that that fascinating on its own merit when taken as a whole, but in the context of Le Male’s uncreative recent flanker past, this is a nice Le Male option for the spring exclusively. Le Beau Male is uplifting and extremely fresh and springy, green and vibrant and exudes a wake up quality often fond in releases heavier on the ginger. Yes, it’s rather linear most of the way through and yes it’s nothing ground-breaking or daring. Still, this is original. It’s shockingly organic for a Jean Paul Gaultier product. If you like the packaging and don’t mind a somewhat bland juice that is best for rotation wear in spring and doesn’t have enough depth to be an every day or signature scent, you will find this rather pleasing. It has a better balance of aromatic and fresh accords than many recent designer releases on the market.
    Scent: 6.75/10
    Longevity: 7.75/10
    Sillage: 7/10
    Creativity: 7/10
    Value: 5/10
    Versatility: 4/10 (spring daytime mostly)

Really bitter. I can not describe. It’s very nice, cool, and seems to have good silage but I think the sour note is at the base of the fragrance, as it begins to feel after a while and invades the fragrance.

I actually tested Le Beau Male in the Mall today and let me tell you, it wasn’t enjoyable. WTF have they done to Le Male?! This flanker smells NOTHING like the original. Folks that is a bad thing. I want a flanker that gives me more than the original, but not change the thing completely!! This felt like too much of a departure. The scent itself was horrific as well. The minute I sprayed it on it seemed like I sprayed pure rubbing alcohol on my skin. You guys may have had a different experience, but for me, I won’t be picking this one up.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

It smells like potted herbs in a kitchen window overhung by lavender. That may sound romantic, but it’s not. It makes me want a sandwich.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

What are they thinking? I tested this in store and went about my business occasionally sniffing my hand. Who puts pineapple with mint?? It’s like drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth, a big no no. A few hours passed and I was pained to find something good in it. A total clash and a failure. I got home and in the confines of my room it hit me. Had the cat puked? I guess so much cash had been ploughed into this to not justify starting again. Shame, because the gaultier house is risking reputation here. Kokorico which isn’t as bad as this is discounted everywhere to get rid of it, this is going straight into the landfill site.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

The highly synthetic orange blossom in here reminds me of what Fleur du Mâle offers by the ton. Also, if you have Live Jazz, your yearning for cilantro already should be satisfied. Like the above fragrances, the synthetics Le Beau has on offer are just too cold and aloof for me. I’ll pass on this one.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

Yikes, Le Beau Male got mostly negative reviews I see.
I actually just purchased this for my husband, after recieving a sample from Sephora, spraying it on him, and falling in summer love.
First of all, if you are comparing this to the original Le Male, then maybe that is the reason for dissapointment. They smell nothing a like… While I find the original an intriguing scent, I wouldnt want hubby to wear it to be honest. It’s just a little cloying for my taste.
This one on the other hand is much more mellow, fresh, and masculine (in my opinon). Without knowing the notes, I thought “aquatic and herbal”. The actual description of the fragrance is :
“Bright notes of citrus and lavender, spices and artemesia. Woody and spicy notes follow with hints of cardamom and fresh mint. The base rests on an earthy blend of green cedar wood, amber accords, and the subtle masculine essence of musk.
    Notes:
    Artemesia, Mint, Lavender, Musk.
    Style:
    Masculine. Sensual. Fresh”
I would agree with the description and I really do find this to be a sensual and sexy summer scent. (say that 10 times fast)
    😉

A bad attempt at a summery fragrance- weak and lacking…
    ___________________________________________________
Although I don’t hate this one, it is far from being beloved.
Upon first spray, you get a blast of mint and some other confusing tones that I honestly could not wait until they faded. After the dry down, it descends to a more manageable scent with leafy mint tones, some greens, and almost hints of aquatics that struggle to break through, but cannot quite overtake the top notes. They stay still throughout, as the scent is quite linear from top to bottom.
All in all, I rather enjoyed the original Le Male. It was fresh, powdery, and unique.
This flanker, though, is almost unrecognizable from the original. It tries to input citrusy green tones, but instead comes across as a mint bomb that tries too hard and falls barely short of being pleasant.
Buy, try or pass? Probably a TRY, followed quickly by a PASS.
It sits well on the skin for a few hours, but is hardly alike the original in terms of projection and longevity. After about an hour, it barely projected.
If you are looking for a nice summer/ spring scent…look elsewhere. ‘Le Beau Male’ will not compliment your collection by any means, beyond being a decorative fixture with a package.
Frankly, I almost consider scents like this an insult. A company that could release a fragrance like Le Male can surely execute better quality with their fragrances, as far as product testing for scent, longevity, and projection. For them to release something as wonderful as the original, and then subsequently release this one is…just insulting. It is, to be honest, a breach of trust, and makes me seriously consider whether I will be purchasing more colognes from them in the near future.
    Longevity: 4/10 (~4 hours)
Projection: 3/10 (This is where it suffers- maybe an hour of subtle projection, then it’s barely a skin scent)
Versatility: 5/10 (Summer/ spring…maybe wear to the beach?)
    Smell: 5/10 (‘A’ for effort, ‘C’ for effect…)

  47. :

Le Beau Male starts out with a blast of minty freshness, sharp yet inviting. To me, it’s almost aquatic, reminding me of a day on the beach. The dry down gets slightly dark and feels cooler, with a hint of the original Le Male coming through. It becomes more mature and quite sexier.
As great as the fragrance smells to me, the performance is where it’s lacking. It projects well on me for about 4 hours, but as the basenotes kick in, it becomes more of a skin scent. Extremely disappointing when I consider that Le Male lasts a good 10 hours on me before it becomes more subtle. To combat performance issues, I usually give this about 4 sprays: one blast to the chest, another to the back of the neck, and a quick spritz on each wrist. It also helps to carry a pocket spray with you for those long days out.
Overall, I dig Le Beau Male. It’s a great everyday, daytime scent, especially if you’re spending the day on a beach or by a pool. Longevity is much to be desired, but a pocket spray would definitely help.

If I slept in a vat of it I still think after 30 minutes all trace of it would have gone. It’s a little minty, like half chewed Wrigley’s Extra, so so poor. What a real waste of money.

Like this one. Fresh and funky! Does not smell like Le Male, but i can feel that Kurkdjian was here! Nice stuff for summer. I got almost the same longevity and projection as original Le Male (not vintage), which is cool for a summer frag. Very versatile and safe. Great stuff.

I agree with the comments below which express disappointment or even hate with respect to this one. Firstly, it doesn’t remind one of the standard Male. While this ist not necessarily a bad thing, the name is not apt. Secondly, it’s not a good product. It doesn’t smell interesting at all, but just like some kind of median male scent. Possibly the saddest cash-in in recent years, this one deserves no attention at all.

I had reviewed this before showing my distaste for this fragrance. I had since looked at the reviews again on this and noticed that someone didn’t understand the absolute hate this fragrance has. Well, let me explain. The original Le Male and Classique that was released in the 90s got allot of respect and popularity because of of they’re style and uniqueness. And to this day, they are still good sellers in department stores. You don’t see too many fragrances released 20+ years ago that even make it to the perfume counter. Because of the great success Le Male and Classique received, it built a reputation for Jean-Paul Gaultier. When I see a Jean- Paul Gaultier fragrance, i expect quality, good silliage and longevity, diversity, uniqueness, and most of all an exceptionally developed scent. Le Beau Male simply did not live up to that. Its strikingly similar to every old spice body spray I smell in the high school locker room. And to think they discontinued Fleur Du Male which did live up to Jean-Paul Gaultier’s reputation and added this is a shame. I’m sure any original Le Male and Classique or even Fleur Du Male lovers would agree.

I pre ordered this fragrance to insure that I received it upon its release. At first spray I was wholly confused about the accord that I experienced. I bluntly hated it so I put it away for a while. A few months passed and I dared to try it again, this time it was absolutely pleasant to my nose. Since then I have been wearing it as a daytime scent for bright spring and soon to be summer days.
I thought about the motives behind my initial impression of this fragrance and noticed that it was popular opinion of this fragrance that gave me the biased perception.
The opening is amazingly fresh with sharp notes of mint and then it mellows out to a musky combination of lavender and orange blossom with absinthe trailing in the mix. My absolutely favorite sequence of the dry down is when the absinthe dies down and the musk notes die out. The remaining accord is light and airy. Projection is good. Gets close to skin at around 5-6 hours.

I don’t understand all the hate this scent gets. I personally find it better then the original Le Male. Less powdery the the original. Very light. I would not hesitate to buy it again.
    I give it a fair 7/10

Don’t like it. A lame attempt at a flanker for le male. Its too synthetic and cheap smelling for my taste.

Gaultier discontinued Fleur du Mâle for this?
This opens with a blast that is reminiscent of stale sweat (not even an interesting BO note like Cartier Declaration Essence) then dries to a boring mint and lavender scent. Projection is poor.
For a flanker, there’s nothing here that recalls the original other than the bottle. Consider this “Le Neutered Male”.

This is terribly disappointing. It didn’t even smell like quality, even worse, it smelt generic.

Mint, Lavender and Musk. Nothing more to it to my nose.
Comes across very stuffy and not fresh to my nose. Probably because the lavender feels very, very synthetic and cheap.<br
