This perfume is very tempting and sexy and you will love it more a long taim and it will approach to La Nuit De L’homme after a certain period

Simply put, I get a more refined mixture of 75% A Men Ultra Zest and 25% JPG Ultra Male. I got rid of Ultra Zest, but this is much smoother and more enjoyable.

Layton is nice, and quite a rich fragrance, but it is also expensive and reminds me of quite a few other scents.
The opening is reminiscent to me of Dolcelisir by L’erbolario, although Layton is more apple and Dolcelisir is more cherry tobacco. I am certainly reminded of it in PDM Layton.
Drydown is a rather dusty sweet vanilla, lavender and sandalwood mix. On closer inspection there is an almost Laundry detergent accord hanging about in the background.
Layton is nice enough, it is well blended and smells quite expensive. Problem is Layton is not very unique for the price you pay. I put my nose to it and get Chanel Allure Homme Sport, JPG Le Male, and a few others. Thing is, for the price of Layton, I could buy all the three other fragrances I have mentioned in this review and still have some money left over for Fish n’ Chips on the way home 😉
Niche has to hit a certain spot for me if I am going to drop some serious money. I have to love the fragrance and also feel that it is unique enough to warrant the price. Unfortunately Layton does not manage that.
Nice, but not a buy for me.

Gorgeous scent. Strong and smells like a birthday cake. For most occasions except summer. Lasts long 1 spray bomb.

It takes reading, a patient nose and lots of sniffing to decipher the subtext of jargon thrown around. SOOOOOO is Layton a designer in niches clothing or what? Yes and no. Layton is not compositionally challenging (Designer). Layton is made using high quality ingredients (Niche). Layton dries down to a generi-man-musk AKA the Axe smell (Designer).

This has amazing quality & it hits! I work in an office & I walked up to this woman & she asked “damn is vanilla in that?” She had the look of mad lust in her eyes- #BuyIt

Smells nice and a crowd pleaser. That’s about it.
Nothing special. Layton Exclusif is the one to get for the price they’re selling it.

Have little sympathy for people complaining that Layton is not a unique fragrance. That is already common knowledge. Does it have similar DNA to several designer frags? Yes. But it is more refined and less synthetic than most. If you shop around you can pick it up for not much more than a top designer fragrance, so why wouldn’t you?
    However…
WARNING! This goes for ANY major online purchase of fragrance right now. DO NOT waste money buying a fragrance online that is going to be shipped any distance in hot weather. I have been burned by purchases that were shipped across country in trucks that were not refrigerated. The heat messes with the chemistry, killing some notes altogether, and blunts performance overall. This has happened recently with my purchase of Layton and has been true of three other purchases over the summer.
If you must buy during summer or a hot fall, make sure you choose and pay for two day shipping.

Oh, Layton… You’re very expensive for a fragrance that’s so similar to a lot of other, cheaper fragrances. I’m not going to rag on this too harshly though and I think it’s actually a gorgeous scent, so stick with me.
The opening I find to be very loud and very jumbled and it reminds me instantly of the spicy, sickly sweet designers that are a bit of a trend as club bangers. It calms down quickly though, within one or two minutes it elevates itself and shows its class a bit more. It still sits in that very sweet category for me, but it’s lighter, fresher and for that, infinitely more wearable as I just can’t do heavy, sweet fragrances at all.
The vanilla, cardamom, apple and sandalwood stick out to me instantly, but I don’t get too much pepper until later in the dry-down where its soft and sits nestled right in the heart of the scent. I feel like the orange note is one of the keys to making this a lighter wear than most sickly designers, it sits really hidden away but small wafts seep up out of the undercurrent in the sillage for me and it really shows what a classy, well-blended fragrance this is.
Outside of work, I think this fragrance would work anywhere, dressed up or down, though if I was dressing up, I personally might reach for something that sits a bit closer. I absolutely would not wear it in the summer, but for fall, winter and maybe the cooler days of spring it would be a bit of a crowd pleaser I’m quite sure. Layton is definitely one of the more easily likeable niches in my collection and a great fragrance that has made me want to try Herod from the same house next.
EDIT: alright, I’ve been wearing this almost every day for a week straight. Very quickly turning into one of my all time favourites. Gorgeous scent with one of the best, sweet dry downs of all time.

I think this would be a very strong competitor for my new signature scent if it wasn’t so damn powdery. This would be a masterpiece in my book if they toned down the vanilla a little bit to make it more crisp like creed has done with it’s apple in spice and wood. But as it stands, to me Layton smells like a heavy dose of make up and feels like biting into a yellow apple that’s been left in the fridge for a month.

Literally smells nothing like Xerjoff’s Naxos…I own full bottles of Naxos and Layton. I realize our sense of smell can be pretty subjective, but that comparison is objectively pure misinformation.

  12. :

    @bha70s
Uh what? It smells nothing like Naxos.. At all! There’s no tobacco or honey in this. Pure Havane is what smells like Naxos.
Maybe you’re confusing this one with Herod, which at least is a tobacco scents -although it smells nothing like Naxos tbh.

My signature scent. Elitists will point out it is a niche fragrance with designer notes… as if this is a bad thing… to me it is the best of both worlds. Layton possesses the “style” of a designer fragrance with the ingredient “substance” of a niche fragrance. Compliments abound, appeals to most ladies; Layton is a fruity/vanilla symphony with a balance provided by lavender, cardamom and sandalwood. This fragrance is… FUN! Highly recommend to all but the snobbiest elitist.

This smells EXACTLY like Xerjoff Naxos to me. Super sweet.

Heavy patchouli bomb. It is average to me, as I’ve been testing this fragrance for 3 days in a row. Fitting of the cold weather, but it’s just too average for me to spend this money. PDM has other scents worthy of a purchase over this (Herod, Carlisle)
It’s a nice scent, but not representative of PDM. IMO.

A lot of good things can, and already have, been said about this fragrance. Make no mistake: it’s great. It’s also very safe, so yes, it can be considered designery.
The one thing I don’t think gets mentioned often on the reviews (and the sole reason I don’t on a bottle of this) is that the dry down feels very mature. 60+ old man. Try it on your skin before you buy, because at least to my nose it was exhausting. Great performance though: this thing projects and lasts forever.

Mix Burberry london, pure malt, ysl la nuit and boss bottle together and u get layton. Thats not a bad thing at all. Those are some of the most beloved and legendary fragrances that have been around for many years for a reason. You basically get 4 amazing fragrances in one beautiful blend. Not to mention higher quality ingredients and much better performance. Yes this is not an original fragrance but you do get alot of different nuances in one fragrance. Fruity, fresh, woody, gorumand, floral and spicy. All these facets are mixed really smoothly together and the blend smells very harmonious. It also doesnt hurt that layton garners many compliments from those around me and the fragrance is quite versatile.i really cant find anything negative to say about layton. Sometimes i wanna smell different and sometimes i just wanna smell really good and get positively notice from those around me. Layton serves the purpose of the latter really well and for that it deserves a place in my arsenal.

Ok. It’s refined. Too refined. Dandy. Like with a bow tie and pastel colored seer sucker suited type of joint. Lavender and orange are prominent, apple and vanilla, blend seamlessly in between them. You know. I feel like my hair is parted to the side and schlacked down by my overly involved mother when I’m wearing this. It’s just. Got no balls to it.
I mean. I had a woman almost hopped into my arms in an elevator while wearing it. It’s got that, pop hit, sort of polish. In which it would be easy to project whatever fantasy of handsomeness and charm you want onto the wearer.
But. I just can’t wear it. It’s got no personality. No funk. So, F it. It’s not for me.

If you like Allure Homme, AHS, you will really enjoy this. You will also get an idea of what it somewhat resembles. Quality. Just picked it up yesterday and I think I’ve got a new signature fragrance.

This is simply luxury in a bottle , millionaire s juice . Niche yet super mass appealing good stuff Parfums De Marley .
Acquired a bottle of 125ml 2018 batch a while ago after deciding to extend my collection to niches . This is a luxury worth every penny you spend .
Scent itself is so unique and the performance is just crazy . I meet clients in my line of work and literally had a lady (client) who I know and meet often just holding on to me and smelling me . She couldn’t get enough of me , she loved the smell .
If you want compliments , if you want to impress someone this one is excellent.
Make sure you do dress to impress when putting this on .

Smelling this again… weird… In the air as I am smelling this, I get a very similar vibe of kokorico.. in fact it smells just like kokorico right now in the air, that bitter kind of patchouli vibe. This fragrance reminds me of polo red intense combined with kokorico..

  23. :

    4 out of 5

This one is a like for me, not a love. Performance is excellent and it is definitely strong, like most PdM fragrances. I feel like this is a much better version of Ultra Zest. I didn’t like Ultra Zest at all, but this I definitely do. I get some orange and patchouli with apple and vanilla. I don’t get a designer vibe like everyone else says. Since when is niche unappealing to the masses? I don’t think I’ll grab a bottle of this, but it wouldn’t be a bad purchase at all.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

This is a rich, gorgeous scent. The opening in particular is mesmerizing for me. One of my favorites from the house along with Herod and Carlisle. I don’t agree with the comparisons to JPG or Boss Bottled, to me it is unique even though it does have a designer-ish vibe in the sense that it is in the “crowd-pleasing” realm.
Some niche-snobs will not like this one for the simple fact that is not a daring scent, but nonetheless for the average person this is a gorgeous, bright scent that is also high-quality.
    10/10 for me.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

This was another easy pass for me ! I liked the apple and vanilla in this but the spices are to overbearing making this very cloying, overly sweet and just unappealing. On the bright side this was VERY strong and was beast mode on my skin after only applying 1 spray.
Overall rating -5.5 out of 10 ! Too sweet and the pepper and patchouli are too much in this scent.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

Smells like a richer, more complex mix of JPG Ultra Male and Dunhill Icon Racing, but made with much higher quality ingredients. Since I cannot stand Ultra Male, I cannot stand this one. I am unable to wear fragrances that make me nauseous. Which is unfortunate, because I constantly hear/read that this does really well with the ladies.
I think the vanille + synthetic fruit combination smells off to me.
The performance on this one is great though. Projected two to three feet for a good three hours. After showering, I still got whiffs of it every now and then, for at least two more hours.

Very poor sillage, I can’t understand how 75% of all voters has put at heavy sillage. To me it’s almost nothing, I can barely feel the smell of it at 50 cm distance
I hit myself with four sprays, one each under arm and twice at my neck. After 2 hrs 45 min I cannot feel the smell at all. Waste of money, my wife agrees, complete garbage. Sorry all Marly lovers….. I love the Marly House myself, but this one shoudl be called Grand Joke

I got it today. My first from PDM. Blind buy even thought I promised myself never to do it again. No regrets at all here.
I have to quote Dallasfan95 which in his review writes: “Yes, it is like a designer in the sense that it is very crowd pleasing and easy to wear”. Yes, it is.
I also agree in his comment about Layton keeping its Niche quality though.
Two perfumes comes to my mind while using Layton right now:
Xerjoff’s “Naxos” and Andy Tauer’s “L`Air du Desert Marocain”.
I guess my nose is picking the notes they share:
    – Bergamot
    – Lavender
    – Jasmine
    – Geranium
    – Vanilla
    – Patchouli
    Layton, Beautiful.

I got a 2 ml decant of this almost a year ago and still haven’t worn it beyond a sample sniff…It’s cost is big $$$$$$…….but oh so satisfying!! I am in the process of narrowing down my rotation to 5 bottles and PDM Layton is going to be in the stable, it’s that damn good…It’s so unique.. I love it…

Mint apple vanilla, cardamom, light citrus and florals, pepper, woods sweet patchouli, ambroxan. Deep rich, niche version of versace Eros. It has the powerhouse vanilla, amber accord of Pegasus which is too much for me. Nevertheless a work of interpretive art worthy of its hype.

WHAT A FRAGRANCE. LOVE THIS STUFF.
I first tested this at a Nordstrom a couple months ago and at first thought it was “okay.” Fast forward a couple months and I decided to test it again at the store and sprayed myself a couple times and WOW… I don’t know what it was about it the second time around, but I think this is PDM’s best fragrance hands down, and one of the best fragrances I own. I really love pegasus too but Layton is just so pleasant smelling and almost everyone that has smelled it on me said they LOVED it. When my girlfriend smelled this on me for the first time she said, “WOW. Whatever it is that you are wearing is the sexiest fragrance I have smelled on you,” and then she proceeded to give me “the look.” Enough said LOL. But seriously, this stuff is the real deal. The opening is a little tart with the apple but also sweet and spicy all at the same time and it is all just blended so beautifully together. I do understand where those who are saying this is very “designer-esque” are coming from. Yes, it is like a designer in the sense that it is very crowd pleasing and easy to wear. However, the notes are all blended together so beautifully and end up being extremely smooth which I think sets this apart from any designer fragrance and puts it in the niche category. I do not find anything wrong with Niche fragrances trying to evoke similar reactions that designer fragrances seem to garner. If a niche fragrance can evoke similar reactions that “mass appealing” designer frags do while also maintaining uniqueness and niche quality, I find that to be a strength and not a weakness. I don’t think that a niche fragrance has to always be radically unique for it to be considered a masterpiece. I personally think this is a very unique and yet pleasant fragrance with beastly performance. And for what it’s worth, I don’t believe this to be a unisex fragrance. Yes, it is sweet but not overly so. And there are spicy notes which tilt this toward the masculine side One of my new favorites and will be in my rotation as long as I am able to purchase it.
Scent: 10/10 (I like it that much as do others)
Projection: 9/10 (Personally get between 2-3 hours on my skin at about an arms length, depends on the day)
Longevity: 9/10 (Easily lasts 8+ hours on my skin. Even showered and could smell it after)
Sillage: 9/10 (extremely pleasant scent bubble that follows you throughout the day, but dies down just a bit after a few hours).
    Highly recommend!

i never smilled it, from the notes is it close to Boss Bottled ?

  36. :

    5 out of 5

The ‘designer’ meme that follows this one around is valid.
It smells like Boss Bottled on steroids and pumped full of Monster Energy. Maybe some A*Men thrown in for good measure.
Not worth the price tag at all, though it would do for an 18 year old with rich parents.
The cardamom note is quite nice however.
I wish I had saved the skin space for Oajan.

At first I never consider to try this after very disappointed to Herod. I think i’m not a fan of PDM. then saw a review in youtube who refer Layton as the best PDM. since I’m so curious about it I try to buy a decant of Layton.. oh man!! love at the first sight!! the smell is so amazing! the combination of apple and vanilla is very impressive! I will buy and make Layton as my signature

Got A Gift from my best friend. Who know it become my best ever fragrance that i ever own. All the notes in this smell so beautiful by completed each other. Because it is so expensive, im rarely use it and only reserved for special associations only. The longevity easily pass 12 hours and project so damm good. Feel blessed to have it in my collection.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

I am glad that I now have this brilliant juice in my collection. It is extremely versatile and smells expensive. OK, it may not be as high as some of the hard to find niche frags and Layton may be a bit more of a generic smelling scent, but it works. It projects and lasts for a good 10 hours on my skin. I very much enjoy wearing this fragrance & it makes me feel great. Some people claim that it has a designer vibe to it. Not in my opinion. This is niche through to the end. It must be good, as it is now PDM’s best seller.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

    another overhyped average scent.
    Pretty weak and forgettable.
Would do well in the designer world at half the price.
    Another big dissapointment by PDM.
only ok scent by pdm that smells somewhat decent is oajan.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

This is the best fragrance I’ve tried and that I own. I love the apple in the apple/bergamot opening, and it has a complex evolution, all parts of which I like. Lasts a long time. Two sprays is enough for me, and no need to renew it before the next day. It requires a certain amount of commitment. It is definitely not the kind of thing I’d imagine spraying on in the morning, and then in the evening picking another fragrance to wear. No, if I wear this, I’ve better prepare for it being my scent for some days.

  43. :

Lavender Apple Vanilla and Cardamom, if put together it will create a magical scent, aka Layton. This scent smells amazing and mediocre at the same time. I know it sounds weird but it depends on my current mood. On one hand this is such an uplifting happy scent and on the other hand it is this scent this typical “cologne guy” would wear and I can imagine both scenarios with Layton. Could be a designer, yes, but it’s somehow worth being niche. I know I sound confusing but you can put on these both perspectives very well on Layton.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

Layton opens up spicy, fruity, crisp and uplifting – the notes smell very authentic. It develops into a smooth, alluring scent with creamy sandalwood and sweet, spicy vanilla.
    8/10

  45. :

    4 out of 5

I totally agree with the previous comment.
I didn’t care about Boss bottled.
This, on the other hand… After falling in love with Herod, PDM strikes again and delivers a fresh yet spicy-seductive. It does remind me of one of my all time favourite, Allure Homme.
I like my fragrances with character but not “in your nose”. This one doesn’t disappoint and is very versatile. I’d totally see this as an every day scent. Or a date scent.
Could fit in almost any occasion / season. When it’s hot it is turning into a caramelade.
Once again, performance is very good with this house.
I wouldn’t say it is unique, not at all. But it is really well done.
If I were rich, I’d buy every beautiful bottle from this house.
I can’t wait to see if they can come up with a “real” fresh summer scent.
    Or a lavender-based scent.
    9/10

  46. :

    3 out of 5

My favourite from the house at the moment but have a decant of exclusif on the way. Easily
Summed up as sweet n spicy. There’s the sweetness from the apple but if I didn’t know it was listed I wouldnnt have picked it. As it dries down the sweetness morphs into a spicy almost caramel coffeeish vibe. Somewhat along the lines of a pure malt. I can see a slight comparison to Chanel Allure Pour Homme as well because of that spicy vanilla in the background. Only part I don’t really like is the late drydown on skin. Smells kinda musty and old. Turns a bit rancid basically. On clothes it’s a beat and projects heavily for the first hour especially. A really really nice scent overall but oddly enough I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I wouldn’t buy it. I was very very close to but with careful deliberation considering the price point I’ve decided I’d opt for a fragrance I like that’s a touch sweeter throughout and amazing from start to finish.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

First of all it is pleasant،, safe with strong performance.
    sweet fruity vanilla ambroxan.
However, to me it smells so synthetic and annoying. I recall a cheap fragrance from Swiss Arabian (10-15 $ / 100 ml) named “shawq” that has similar vibe with better performance and surprisingly it is smoother.
Not worth the price and the hype given that there are tons of better options.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

“Designer” vibe. Niche performance. I personally do not like it but it works. My girl loves it so I had to get it. But other female co-workers were not impressed by it. It is definitely not worth $290 . If you find this around $100-$120 grab it for 4.2oz. Otherwise do not waste your money.
Edit: performance is not as beastly as I thought. It is excellent but not beast. Projection is average. Definitely disappointed in that. Definitely not worth retail.

One of our lovely reps came by the office; subsequently a half dozen people were having a conversation about how great I smelled lol. After a hug, and with a big smile on her face, she definitely leaned in again to get a deep whiff of Layton off my neck XD
I reviewed it previously, but I just wanted to share that in my experience the “hype” turned out to be pretty real. This has to be top shelf for me because not only do I absolutely love the smell; it is extremely pleasing to wear casually!
As always, try before you buy. I loved my sample, and I am very happy to have the bottle now gentlemen.

    Such an Amazing juice.
    Layton smells really edible.
Apple, Vanilla and cardamom. Sweet oriental and spicy. Not so unique but not generic neither and It doesn’t smell like CH men prive In my opinion(I love them both)
Longevity is extremley good and it easily projects for 6 hours on my skin.

I’ve had this one for quite a while now, I always enjoy it despite it being a bit too sweet at times. But there is just something about the scent character of this fragrance that I can’t quite put my finger on. When I smell this, I can’t get the image of “cigarettes” out of my mind (but not in a bad way).
The best description I can come up with is that Layton has the smell of a freshly lit cigarette, which many non-smokers actually seem to enjoy. And the strange thing is, smokers only smell this scent when they are around another smoker who has freshly lit a cigarette (the person smoking the cigarette can’t smell the scent in the same way, for whatever reason). It’s a very unique smell, impossible to describe.
Layton has something in its scent DNA which resembles this smell. Much like how Creed Aventus has a cigarette smell to it as well. It’s the smell of the Golden age, it’s the smell of the 90’s, 80’s, 70’s, 60’s, 50’s, 40’s, 30’s… etc etc. Back to a time where cigarette smokers were quite common and were a major part of our historical culture. A time where it was common for Fathers, Uncles, and Grandfathers to smoke cigarettes. Layton captures that distinct aroma in some strange way and incorporates it into the scent, and I have never smelled any fragrance that does it the same way as this does.

Sampling for the first time and my initial impression reminds me a lot of a more complex Versace Eros. Maybe it’s the vanilla, apple, and powdery spice of the cardamom . Anyone else get this?
Update: did a side by side with a current bottle of Eros and they smell nothing alike. I don’t know if Versace reformulated or I’m tripping.

I like Layton, but I do agree that its overhyped…very overhyped. Its a good fragrance, but thats about it. I think when people say they get “alot of compliments” on this fragrance, many of those people are only offering compliments because it smells like you are “very noticeably wearing a cologne”, not necessarily because the wearer of the cologne smells incredible per se. I dont put Layton in the same category of niche scents as Creeds or MFK or even Amouage. Creeds tend to smell like an environment or an atmosphere more than a “cologne”. Amouages, while, eccentric also smell very atmospheric and abstract. MFKs tend to smell like a mere extension of ones already existent skin. But Layton smells very cologney, and like something “that cologne guy” would wear. Its nice, albeit overhyped, and I really wouldnt wear this to anywhere other than a club or maybe a date. It certainly doesnt strike me as a work/office, day to day scent. For this type of fresh spicy dank vibe, I would probably choose Creed Royal Oud or even maybe Bogart Pour Homme before Layton. Royal Oud would be my first pick, then Layton, and lastly Bogart.

My 75ml bottle has just been delivered from the original website of PMarly. Its true LOVE! I got samples twice, so I strongly recommend you to try it before buying because imo its not a blind buy scent (so pricy), however as others said its mass-appaeling so your environment is gonna like your scent trail. Easily got 5-6 hours projection and huge sillage, lasts 12-14 hours on skin, on clothes got compliments even the next day after 24h. Its simply masterpiece guys, you can smoothly belive the big hype around it.
I tried it at work in an office, it was maybe too strong indoors, but in other situations it works perfectly. I am sure I have found my signature scent, Layton is the one all over the year. Girls are also gonna LOVE it coz it has a little unisex vibe.

if i am asked to keep only 2 fragrances for the rest of my life i would probably pick acqua di gio profumo(i mean the origian dna so essenzaa too would do) and terre de hermes eau tres fraiche…but today when it came to make an impression i picked up Layton…yep for similar situations i would probably go with it again..very good for upclass events…someone below me said people compliment it because it’s loud,i strongly disagree with it

Lots of vanilla, fruity, and a bit green. The base reminds me of Cedre Atlas’ musky sourness. The composition feels pretty slapdash — the whole is merely the sum of its parts. Worthy of merely a “meh” rating, Layton is definitely overhyped.
This review will probably get downvoted. That’s okay. I’d rather be honest than liked.

Apple, vanilla, citrus and lavender? SIGN ME UP! I always get a warm, calming vibe from this fragrance because of the vanilla although it’s not really heavy and that’s why it’s very wearable in Spring.
I don’t get the criticism of it being too “designer-esque”. Okay so maybe you’re paying more than usual but the scent and performance of Layton makes it absolutely worth it. When you put this on, you don’t need any validation from people around you. You will smell good.
This gets a perfect rating for me. Backup bottle worthy. If I can only have 3 fragrances, Layton makes the cut easily.

I’m currently sampling it alongside Layton Exclusif. So far my immediate impression of Layton is that it has that sweet aromatic lavender vanilla vibe reminiscent of Francis Kurkdjian’s work. The dry-down definitely evokes Ultra Male in my opinion so far (which I absolutely adore). It is not “candy” sweet and overtly fruity like Ultra Male. Instead, it features a more arguably “sophisticated” sweet woody spice in concert with that high quality fougere vibe.

Layton is less “dense” or “creamy” feeling than Ultra Male, and it showcases a green apple and cardamom combo instead of pear and cinnamon. Layton comes off more woody, and smells of higher quality ingredients in general (which I would hope is actually true given the niche price). I think it smells pretty damn good, and if I did not already own Ultra Male and Dior Sauvage EDP, I would easily have allocated that money towards Layton. I guess this is what people mean when they say Layton has that nice designer “mass appeal.” It feels like a superior choice in the modern sweet aromatic genre, and it would be a blast to have this as an everyday scent…maybe I’ll go for it anyways cause I’m crazy like that. What I know for sure is that Layton has renewed my interest in Parfums De Marly.

I found a bottle on sale and seized the opportunity! Exceptional compliment factor in my experience so far, and what’s more fun than the people around you loving the stuff you enjoy wearing? I was even stopped by a stranger who had to know what that beautiful sillage was!

Layton is not my style. But I ordered a sample out of quriousity, seeing the high rating, and is in many top 5 or signature.
From the reviews, it’s what I expected, but it surprising how good and pleasantly aromatic it is.
Many of the reviews said, it’s in the genre of a designer aromatic, done with the highest quality.
Yes it does smell in the category of Savage, or Chanel Bleu, or YSL Nuit.
It is the common synthetic, Ambroxan that is in many of those frags, and it’s in this one. A nice sweet Ambroxan, some ginger, woods. That kind of base is the same here. But then with Layton, these deliciously beautiful notes come peaking through, like the green apple, and an orange/ vanilla accord, are so smooth and exquisite. The best green apple note I have experienced, better than in Creed Aventus or Spice and Wood.
This may not have ginger, but the cardamom and pepper accord come across as a ginger note. Very smooth overall.
    I
