Interesting scent – I certainly don’t agree with the the description Demeter gives of this fragrance as a “comforting” scent. To my nose, the opening is cold, a bit industrial – like a clean linoleum floor in a laundromat. If I sniff for individual notes, all my nose can pick out is an odd anise note and some soapiness.
The dry-down is more what I’d expect out of a fragrance called “Laundromat.” A slightly sweet, drier-sheet floral feel.
Overall a sort of challenging, weird fragrance. Not something I’d buy more of to wear out or anything, but I have enjoyed using my 5mL sample at home.
Ivansss – :
Smells like any of those ‘clean linen’ or cotton candles you can find everywhere.
Romman1972 – :
I received this as a free roll-on oil sample with a Demeter order and it is one of the most disappointing of their scents. While it’s not unpleasant, it doesn’t evoke the experience of a laundromat; it smells more like straight-up laundry detergent (with perhaps a hint chlorine bleach thrown in). It lacks the dry, dusty note of commercial dryers, which it would have benefitted from. Without that, it is clean and floral, but in no way smells like a laundromat. In short, it has the washer down, but where is the dryer?
pqf607speagoessenda – :
This is not what I expected. What I wanted this to be was like sticking your head in a recently used dryer and smelling the warmth, linen, and softener/remnants of detergent. However, this is a cold metallic smell. To my nose it almost reminds me of chlorine. It’s more like walking into a laundromat that no one is currently using. It’s just not as strong as I would have liked. If this is what colognes usually project then I’m not interested in trying any more. If clean laundry type smells are your thing, then I’d highly suggest trying out the CLEAN fragrances; They’re way more intense and longer lasting.

I thought from reading reviews on Demeter fragrances, I would love them. I was mistaken. I blind bought 4 Demeter scents, First love, laundromat, pink grapefruit and ginsing root in a bundle on PoshMark. I’m not a fan of any of them. Laundromat smells like some sort of strange plastic scent. Maybe a new laundry basket. There is no clean or soapy smell to my nose. I’m not sure where y’all are hanging your laundry out to dry, but this in no way smells like my clothes that have been dried on the clothesline. The other 3 are sweet and cloying until they disappear in 5 mins. Zero longevity. Based on these 4 scents, I can’t figure out why anyone would ever want to buy anything labeled Demeter.

It does remind me of a nostalgic image of damp laundry swinging gracefully in the country air, I can even see the wooden laundry pins.
Domestic still life encapsulated in a fragrance yet its cleanliness has a great potential and versatility – ready to be utilized in spring, summer and early autumn, perfect for a job interview and office. For me it is the perfect everyday scent. It does not smell cheap just effortless and genuinely clean.
It is quite a bittersweet scent, has a slight medicinal touch, lasts for a few hours or more. The texture is surprisingly oily tough.
One of my favourite sents for sizzling summers – I would most likely repurchase.

This scent reminds me of the smell of powdered detergent that you buy from the machine in public laundromats. The generic stuff that comes out of the machines on the wall, and when you open it, you can smell that it’s detergent but its not something ‘special’, like Tide or Purex. Its just plain washing powder. Not unpleasant…. and I imagine that this is what a public laundromat would smell like after an entire day of folks using that generic powder to wash their clothes. The staying power isn’t bad on this, but it really stays close to the skin. Its also one of the more oily colognes that I’ve tried from Demeter. After spraying it all over my arms, they had a sheen of oil for a few hours after. I eventually had to rub it in because it was driving me crazy just seeing it like that. I thought that might help it stick around a bit longer, but nope. Glad I tried it, but probably won’t be on my list of Demeter fragrances to buy again.
Pala4 – :
Fresh and sudsy with a wintergreen twist! Lovely but alas too clean for my taste. Longevity and sillage are moderate and good for a Demeter.
denfil – :
The only ‘laundry’ note I detect in this are wooden pegs.. and then there’s a dry, slightly bitter powder note like crushed paracetemol – which I guess is meant to be the washing powder
YTVNBYJDF – :
I know Demeter have a troop of eager fans who adore every single fragrance they made,
But to me they are worthless. And I made the big mistake of buying 3 diferent ones (fresh ginger, pink grapefruit and laundromat).
Ok, Laundromat, the scent is clean, light, soapy and not much. It last for minutes only. I wore it on my skin and nothing, on my clothes and nothing and even on my laundry…and nothing!
So I’m truly disappointed and even though I only spent $14 on each it still feels like a lot of money for what I got.

what are the notes?

Good smell! Very fresh, clean. Perfect after a good bath 🙂
aelz – :
Smells fresh, just like detergent. Just pleasant and fresh. That’s all.

nutihada – :
I have to disagree with the majority of reviewers here and say that Laundromat reminds me not of detergent, but fabric softener. But I do agree that it has a very clean, somewhat soapy smell. It approximates the chemical scent of freshly-washed clothing fairly well. I just don’t know why I’d want to exaggerate that smell and wear it under my . . . freshly washed clothes.
All well.
ruslan1985 – :
I like this but it has fleeting durability … Nowhere near the quality of the bodyshops cotton white … Now there was a stunning fresh fragrance 🙂
akaSEGA – :
It was a blind buy from the swedish ebay and I was a bit disappointed, because I didn’t get any kind of “laundry-smell”.I know, maybe it’s sounds stupid, but I love the freshly washed clothes smell.I have Clean Fresh Laundry and I love it, because it’s exactly catch of the freshly washed clothes smell what is dried under the sun.:)
On my skin this perfume a pure magnolia scent..no less no more.Sometimes I cannot tolerate, sometimes I really wish to wear…it’s depends on my mood and the weather.:)It’s very linear, simply but not a bad scent.I use it very rarely so I think this bottle (30 ml) is gonna be enough forever.:) It’s remind me of Avon Magnolia.
Esokespoics – :
I got an instant headache. But from reading some of the reviews maybe I should’ve let it sit for a bit. I purchased Pure Soap instead. I prefer CLEAN-FRESH LAUNDRY if I’m looking for that laundromat smell. Pure grace Philosophy and CLEAN warm cotton are my favorite “clean” scents. Always on the look out, Clean is my favorite smell.
yura6408 – :
I like it very much. It makes me smile, it reminds me of my childhood when I was frequently going to a laundry with my mum 🙂 It smells like a very nice laundry detergent together with the damp warm air of a laundry.
Vusal – :
Actually smells like one is swathed in fresh bed linen. Ingenious!!!!!!
bender1983 – :
Laundromat has the similar Vodka-smelling start as Pure Soap, however, the Vodka smell here has entangled with the perfume for quite a few minutes.
The start of Laundromat is somewhat cold metallic plus a bit of plant sharpness (thinking about rosemary, but Laundromat doesn’t smell anything of rosemary tho). After these brief weird phase, Laundromat does smell like Laundromat, especially those Laundromat placed in a commercial laundry place—still clean, nice, possibly harbours so many different types of washing powders, slightly synthetic but nice enough (just like the washing detergent smell, it’s synthetic, but we are so used to it thus we find it ‘nature’ somehow).
Laundromat is nice, but somehow I find it sometimes makes me feel as if I’ve been locked in a laundry room, without fresh air. I would recommend Pure Soap as a more ‘nature’/comfy perfume to use instead of Laundromat if what you are looking for is the washing product smell plus a little bit mental/emotional space for fresh air.
apan2010 – :
disappointed. fresh, but deja-vu. nothing special, no satying power.
hcv243Diobtetty – :
Sweety clean. A little juicy. Absolutely no staying power…as with all the others from this line and why it frustrates me so!
ko4kina – :
Clean, fresh, soapy scent that usually smells on clothes that have just beeen washed.
FriendTristan – :
I love to wear this fragrance in my hair if I am feeling icky or haven’t had time to wash it. It is uplifting, comforting and clean. It is very subtle, and I love applying it from the bottle that I have (no spray cap). It reminds me of the colognes my grandma used to give us as little girls. You take your finger and tip the bottle then dab a bit behind your ears. Sigh… 🙂 so nostalgic!
hovohovohovo – :
After smelling aaaaalll of the Demeter fragrances at their scent library in Times Square Duane Reade…I walked away feeling only a few were really extraordinary and worthy of a future purchase: Cannabis, Chai Tea,Condensed Milk, and Laundromat. LUV Laundromat and finally purchased it at the Duane Reade on Staten Island where I live. So, so, sexy, clean, but with a subtle, violety undertone. For me, it’s the perfect every day or first date smell. I’ll break out the others for more special, intimate times…

I was VERY curious about this perfume because I´m on a constant search for the perfect “clean” smell.
When I bought mine, unsniffed, the very first impression was of laundry soap (like if I was smelling it from the box) and not washed clean clothes.
It´s not what I was expecting, but the final result is pleasant.
The lasting is just ok.
