Laguna Salvador Dali for women of Salvador Dali

Share:

Description

A warm floral fragrance of the sea shore. You can clearly feel the warmth of the southern parts and intensive aroma of exotic flowers. The top notes are fresh and fruity: mandarin, grapefruit, peach, and apricot. The heart is created of jasmine, rosewood, iris and lily of the valley. The base is composed of tonka, cedar wood, patchouli and vanilla. It was created in 1991 by Marc Buxton.

The nose behind this fragrance is Mark Buxton.

Laguna by Salvador Dali is a unique scent. On me the first spritz is heavily green with a bit of citrus. I don’t particularly like the first few minutes of this fragrance. Lucky for me the dry down occurs pretty fast with this and it turns into a heavenly scent. On me velvety vanilla and sandalwood are the highlight with just a touch of fruit to go with it and give a bit of sweetness.
I know this is toted as a summery beachy fragrance but it takes on a very warm feel when I wear it and I think it works just fine in cooler weather.
And it is very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a FB buy.

My mother has worn this for many years so I have great memories associated with Laguna as a result. Particularly caravanning holiday in Summer. I don’t see my Mum as often as I’d like due to my work commitments and distance. Recently I was in a local gift store and was surprised and buoyed to find they carry some Salvador Dali perfumes, amongst them Laguna. Not only the gorgeous ‘lips’ bottles ,but travel ‘pens of 8mls. I only bought the travel one because I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to smell like my Mum. However, on first spritz it didn’t bother me at all. I’d forgotten how gloriously refreshing this scent is and I will be purchasing a full bottle for my Summer holidays ,and work days when the sun becomes oppressive.

Laguna is a fresh sweet delicious scent, well blended and balanced and freshened by the pineapple. Very summery fragrance and underated IMO. One that I keep coming back since a very young girl. It reminds me coastal vacations abroad when very young…after a day at the beach when we would dress nicely and summery for restaurant followed by long walks on “calcadao in Rio”…
And it is so affordable. So fresh, pleasant and “happy” that I also use it as an air freshener – a nice one – around the house 🙂

@Daniela_Beatrize – You need a cleaning lady to close your fragrance bottle? wtf …

  5. :

    3 out of 5

To Bubbles1964: have you tried to turn the cap? It is probably not put right (my cleaning lady always put with the wider side facing the front instead of the thinner). That might be it.

  6. :

I have a question about the bottle, specifically the cap. Does anyone know why there are different nose styles (cap)? Mine is the wider version. I bought it off fragrancenet but I noticed other shopping sites online show a thinner “cap” (nose shape is completely different).
Hoping I didn’t buy a counterfeit and someone here can shed some light on the matter.

I agree with the review below. It’s a great summer refreshing scent. My 14 year old daughter loves it. I have two bottle gave one to her. She goes to a private school so it works great on her with a light spritz ( they aren’t allowed to wear heavy fragrance to school). Which leads me to sillage, it’s light almost close to skin. It last quit long for such a lighter scent. It is very pretty on, the fruits shine forth and I faintly smell the coconut. This is a very different fruit scent not your normal girly fruit.
The bottle is not my favorite it’s definitely reminiscent of his art. Not my style. Even though, I recommended this for an adult fruity style fragrance.

This is a very yummy fragrance. It’s a totally synthetic bomb, but a fabulous one. It opens fairly citrusy and green, with the help of galbanum and lemon and dried down to a beautiful coconut/vanilla/sandalwood scent. Its bizarre – I’ve never really been one for Salvador Dali fragrances, but this one is just stunning. A little aquatic, also, which is strange as it isn’t a listed quality. It feels like the scent Julie Adams wore as she swam in remote jungle lagoon, totally beguiling. Unique as many scents of the 80s and 90s were.

Sad, depressing, traumatic scent. Synthetic. I’ve grown up in a communist country and it is how old (80-s) household goods store smelled (the plastic note – buckets, cheap lemon and vanilla essences, nettle shampoo… – all in one room).
It smells of: lemon essence + vanilla essence (like a mix of fragrances on the kitchen shelf where I store essences, also rum essences – almost like poppy seeds cake filling!) + menthol & anise candies + wintergreen (or some kind of rheumatism ointment) + nettle shampoo + nearly melting plastic + and finally ether !!! (difficult to describe sweet chemical scent : anise? + rum? + almond? + solvent?).
Lemon essence is the main note. After spraying I feel like ready to make dough. And then comes melted plastic, shampoo, menthol & anise and ether…I’ve tried many times… Not my lagoon. Lagoon??

I was looking for a unique fragrance, so when i read about this fragrance and all of the comments, i was so curious as many of you (more than 20 comments)describe it as a “unique, unusual, weird” fragrance. I was intriqued and decide it to blind buy it (the same time i also blind buy Gres Cabotine)
When i get the package, i was so excited, Laguna has a beautiful bottle, but when i spray my left hand with Laguna and right hand with Gres Cabotine. I find Gres Cabotine more unique than Laguna.
Laguna has a creamy, soft smell while Gres Cabotine is more sharp green and has a much beter long lasting power and sillage. Maybe i need to give Laguna more time to adjust to my body chemistry. For now i like Gres Cabotine beter than Laguna.

I don’t know what notes give me this impression: opens as L’Eau de Issey Miyake and dries down to Duna by Dior. I am not a big fan of Issey, so the first spray is not a love, but I do love a fresher Duna. I am quite happy with my blind buy!

One one arm I sprayed this one, the original Laguna, and on the other the Laguna Maravilla (EDP, meant to replace Laguna EDT).
I pick up a bit of a synthetic plastic note in the opening, and I was half expecting this as I read other people smelled it too. It’s not enough to turn me off and after the opening it fades away, what’s left is a lemony-vanilla aquatic with a sandalwood base. I like it. A lot.
Both share the same DNA and Laguna is fuller, more tropical and sweet; surprisingly complex for a cheapie (I picked my 30ml up for $10). Maravilla smells genderless; a bit brighter and maybe more versatile. I can imagine wearing this in the Spring and Fall as well as Summer.
They are different in other ways, and I’m having a hard time deciding which I like better. If I had to pick at this moment, I would go with this one, Laguna. It feels a little bit more beach-y and summery. Surprisingly long lasting for an EDT.
And I still think the bottle is a quirky piece of kitsch, but it’s also very cute in the 30 ml size.

Just like Salvador Dalí’s paintings this perfume takes you to the land of dreams. All kind of images of summer, exotic places, tropical beaches, Spanish small towns with old houses with verandas against the immaculate blue sky, hot summer nights refreshed by the breeze of the ocean come to my mind. Frozen on time, with clocks melting, of course.
    It’s a beautiful perfume.
For those who miss it, it’s almost identical to Brazilian cologne Aguas de Natura Opera Amazonica – Canto Vermelho, by Natura, discontinued many years ago. It’s just a little bit greener and not soapy like its Brazilian copycat.

I just adore it, a must for holiday wear, its unique, I have a bottle for sunny days, and oh so light.

Very nice and vacation like fragrance. Coconut and lemon stands out the most to me, with sandal wood and vanilla lingering beneath. I don’t get pineapple. I don’t think it’s only a summer fragrance, I think it can be worn all year. Discrete and stay rather close to skin – not a power house projection wise. Great lasting power though. Bottle is a classic true masterpiece and the color is amazing.

I liked it when tested in a strip of paper. On my clothes it smelled good, but… on my skin, 10 minutes later it smells like bug spray…

Recently got it as a present. When I opened the package and read the name, I expected something light and summery, definitely aquatic but eventually citric.
Turns out to be simply delicious! A year-round daytime fragrance, very unique, sophisticated and elegant as well as fresh, holiday-esq and uplifting!
An all-season staple for the weekends!

  19. :

    4 out of 5

i feel this could be used in any occasions and any season.
compared with Laguna Maravilla, this one is smoothier and more creamy
    but definitely same DNA
    and this one is sweeter
the whole Laguna has gradually became my signature scent
the notes here suggested that this might be a fruity sweet summer fragrance
but to my nose, you cannot just pick a single ingredient from this perfume
    it’s a very complex scent
    definitely unique and beautiful
and this is the DALI spirit, not the nowadays Dali fragrances could represent

First of all, to me, this does not smell like a perfume….It is more of a glorified body mist, in a pretty bottle.
At first spray, this seemed promising: light, airy, clean. But within about a mere 15 minutes, this dried down to a weird smell for me. Not bad; just not “me”. Is it a deodorant smell..? Is it a hairspray smell..? A body lotion smell..? I don’t know, it is pretty indiscernible to me.
At times I pick up a slight minty scent, feeling like I am at the dentist getting a fluoride treatment or something. I can’t even really detect any of the specific notes listed, to me this is just a weird bottle of confusion, and certainly not something I would classify as a perfume. Maybe the bottle I received is bad. I do agree with many of the other reviews, saying this is aquatic, I guess that is the “best” way to sum this up. For me, this is not necessarily an unpleasant “fragrance,” but it is not something I want to smell like. Smells like an aging bottle of perfume that went bad.. *shrug* I keep sniffing my wrist, trying to pick up some discernible scent, and falling short. This is fairly soft, not room-filling, so there is that.
I had/have been looking for some fragrances for hot humid days, and this one just is not doing the trick for me. Maybe the too many notes just translate weird on my skin. *shrug* I guess for the low price, it will just be a pretty bottle on my vanity. *shrug* Not going to pass this one along, I may try this on a really hot and humid day, but so far, not tripping my trigger. Not an immediate scrubber/get this the heck off of my skin, but is just not something I want to smell like. *shrug*

Can anyone in the US make me a 2ml decant? I can pay for supplies and shipping or trade you something of similar value.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

Laguna is one of the few aquatic scents I can tolerate, probably because it doesn’t have that fake water smell. Fruits, especially pineapple and lemon, with coconut sweetened by tonka in the heart notes. Vanilla works here, never becoming cloying or overpowering as it tends to. Longevity and sillage are moderate. Best on rainy days. Totally gender neutral. Laguna is quite nice, and I may try layering it with blatantly beachy scents once the sun returns.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

I agree with the reviewer below me…or feel the same way: I normally cannot stand aquatic perfumes (on me). They’re fine on other people, but not only do I not like to wear them myself, they usually smell terrible *on* me–and irritate me all day long. They also usually get stronger (that particular note/accord) throughout the day. I have the same experience with musk and cedar (though I actually love those notes).
This is dreamy. It’s soft and creamy and dreamy and beachy and kind of *everything* you might want to smell like when you want a mood lifter or something to make you simply feel comfortable and pretty.
I can’t imagine this bugging anyone. While it’s strong lemon and vanilla (on me) for the first 5 minutes, it settles pretty quickly into a soft (but still complex, still unique) scent. It’s very light, but I will get whiffs of it well into the evening, especially if it’s a hot day, or the scent has gotten on my clothes.
I give this a huge thumbs up.

  24. :

    5 out of 5

Yes, I agree with so many reviews here. Though not listed as an aquatic, to me Laguna has a distinct aquatic note that is nonetheless welcome, much to my surprise!
To explain: I LOATH aquatics normally, thanks to that odorous aroma chemical, Calone. So I think it’s safe to say Salvador’s creation is a great choice for calone haters who would genuinely appreciate an aquatic perfume in their wardrobe that doesn’t reek! Further, you’ll likely love the experience of wearing Laguna. She is well crafted, casual, yet elegant.
Highly recommended for a summer or beachy scent choice with unusual flair. Suitable for anyone with elegance – I predict most who love her will be past their teens.
    ENJOY!

This was a blind buy. I was tempted by the notes and the shape of the bottle. I could say I hit the jackpot. It is a really fresh, holiday-mood inducing scent. Makes me think about waves, cocktails on the beach and walking on the shore at the sunset. I will take it with me in my next vacation. I only bought a 15 ml bottle, I should have taken at least 30 ml. Maybe next time…

  26. :

Hmm, for me, fruits are a big no-no and this is no exception. I feel like wearing a pina colada smoothie. Not sure what bothers me, i find it hard to wear. I don’t really find it special, not even back in the 90s.

  27. :

    5 out of 5

Impression on first spray on wrist + hair.
Wow, yeah, this one’s a weirdo. It’s got a “cold” feel, first of all, however the f*** that’s accomplished, without feeling refreshing (to me). Sweet, incredibly synthetic smell. I do get some impression of water, but no natural body of water – maybe a trace of skin after a swimming pool dip? A little bit of chlorine, iodine? And a strong sweet suntan lotion connotation – I can’t pick out coconut as a note, but I’m guessing that’s it, as a blur of chemical sweetness.
A tiny bit nauseating to me, actually. First time I react that way to a perfume. I think it reminds me of the chemically vanillic “Wunderbaum” scent trees for cars of my childhood, they’d always make me even more car sick.
Late next day: extreme longevity. I can see how some people enjoy this, there’s still that weird cold, swimming pool air around it.

I had this perfume when I was 15 and I’m 25 now. I remember very well what it smelled like!! I’m starting to miss it now when the weather is warming up and I crave a unique, fresh summer fragrance with some depth to it. It’s a classic!

  30. :

Old time favourite that keeps permanent place in my collection. After the initial blast of lemon the most prominent note remains coconut (and maybe pineapple). The other notes are mixed so well that I can’t single any one out. Laguna might look as summer fragrance, but there is depth in there that is not typical for the ordinary summer scents. I love to wear it in the summer evenings or in the autumn when mornings are a bit chilli but the sun is still shining bright during the day.
Extremely long lasting and projects really well.
There will always be place for Laguna in my heart and in my perfume wardrobe.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

Laguna is often mentioned as “unique” and I fully agree with it. This is the best exotic/tropical scent for me so far. It is very complex and develops really interesting from tart, juicy citrus top notes to sweet woody base. I smell mostly lemon, vanilla and sandalwood. Laguna is powerful for an EDT. Very hedonistic perfume.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

At first it’s a bit too sharp due to intense citruses I guess, but after a while it’s very pleasant, sunny scent, carefree, unobtrusive and office safe.

Wow, this was love at first spray. This eau de perfume is the perfect balance of sweetness, citrus and freshness. I intend to wear it a lot this summer. It was a blind buy like most of my frags, and a wonderful surprise indeed. She carries all the qualities that I was hoping to find in Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess. Longevity is excellent, 10 plus hours without much fading.

  35. :

This is the perfect beach scent: aquatic, tropical fruits and florals, COCONUT, with the perfect amount of sweetness. Not at all cloying as so many tropical scents can be. Very well blended, delicate but good silage. The bottle is so beautiful and the scent perfectly matches it.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

    Summer. Summer. More Summer!
It has everything – sunscreen, citronella candles, coconut, and daiquiris.
Strangely, the Salvador Dali Museum is in St. Petersburg, Florida of all places and this is a very Florida fragrance.
I think that It would be inappropriate to wear at night and I normally don’t pay any attention to what time or season a fragrance should worn. I also wouldn’t wear this if I was in a bad mood. It sort of invokes someone listening to “Walking on Sunshine” in a Camaro convertible.
    The bottle is gorgeous.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

Noses are very strange, Laguna on me has no citrus whatsoever, it is a long lasting musky woody scent sweetened by fava tonka and amber. On me the rosewood, followed by musk and sandalwood are the most prominent notes a creamy (sandalwood and rosewood) sweet (fava and amber), although not cloyingly so, scent that seems lighter than it really is. Lovely but on my skin it has no shadow of lemon, coconut or pineapple. In fact Laguna besides the creaminess has a bit of powderiness brought by iris.

I once wrote about my story with Laguna (as a Guest) – that I fell for it in late 1990s before my Proms, purchased in mid 2000s, gave it to a friend as I couldn’t wear it but fell for it again. I repurchased it a few days ago and I’m totally happy! I’m ready again for this gem of the nineties, this soft, slightly tropical and aromatic freshness, this totally confusing freshness blended with fruity sweetness, this dream of paradise island holiday that brightens up my winter days and nights – Laguna, welcome back!:D

God Damn my NOSE! If I had picked this up 3 years ago– I would have thought it fantastic.
    Now- blind buy- after all I have sniffed– my nose is too adult for this;
Marine- fresh- nice- just smells like a very good deodorant stick.
And DALI- the greatest artist of the 20th century…….

It’s been 15 years since i fell in love with this fragrance. It used to be my signature scent.
No matter how much i try to change, to find something more elegant that fits my age best, i don’t find anything like it.
It has a lot of personality, which is very hard to find now a days.
My only complaint about it is that i’m looking for something more modern and sophisticated, but it has been hard days trying to replace something so unique like Laguna.

Wow, nostalgia in a bottle, this perfume reminds me of my childhood,
i think because it smells a lot like the mosquito spray my mum would spray on me in summer.
Starts off quite sharp but turns quite light and tropical

I love Salvador Dali’ as an artist, so I really wanted to add one of his creations to my collection. Laguna attracted me. So I bought it completely blindly on the internet. I am positively impressed. It’s esotic with the coconut but at the same time it’s so comforting. A lot of compliments when I wear it. I love wearing it in the summer, it reminds me beach and Sun. Fruity and fresh at the same time, sweet but not overwhelming. It’ not acquatic at all IMO. Well blended without screeching notes.

I occasionally return here to see what people have thought and felt about my dearest Laguna. It’s wonderful to see how this unrivalled perfume confounds. My favourite few words: “… a very complex and unusual composition. Haunting and instantly memorable.” That is the essential thing to know about Laguna: that it is preternaturally evocative and unlike anything else, ever. People are transported by it and often unable to identify what in it is so outstandingly different. Thanks everyone for entering its strange world and taking the time to appreciate that. It’s good to know there are kindred spirits.

Opening is a blast of OFF mosquitoe repellent which, for some ungodly reason, I love the smell of. Anyone else like that smell? Strange, I know.. I will update after wearing for awhile but as of now it still smells like bug spray. Anyone know what note that is?

This was a very successful blind buy. I’ve been looking for a beachy scent but not liking anything I’ve tried. This was cheap on eBay, recommended by Fragranticans, and has a pretty bottle, so I gave it a shot. At first, I get a bug spray note, which I actually like. Within a few minutes it starts becoming slightly sweet and a bit fruity. I never really get the florals of the heart notes, but seem to straight on to the base, which is where it gets coconutty. This is where things usually start to go wrong for me, but happily, this only go better! It never gets too sweet, cloying, or artificial, but instead remains breezy and pretty light even as the warm coconut notes develop. It wears softly on me, which I love. I catch whiffs of it, but it stays slightly distant, and I don’t tire of it after an hour as so often happens with me. So not only do I love the scent, I love the character of it on my skin, which is a rare and wonderful thing!

I do not know what I was expecting but I did not care for this at all after opening the box and ogling the bottle! I packed it up and began my return. However, I did not deliver the package to the post office. Instead, I ended up opening the package AGAIN and falling in love with the scent. I am a vanilla/gourmand lover. I guess the citrus in this crosses over into that category because there is also something creamy. Upon first spritz I get a burst of fresh lime and something faintly aquatic. Once the fragrance settles a bit, I can smell subtle notes of coconut water (ever so softly) and salty sea air. There is an undeniable masculine vibe to this that I happen to love. So, basically the image that floats to my mind is…this is how my thin, white gauzy cotton shirt (the one that goes over my bathing suit) smells after I’ve spent late afternoon at the beach closely cuddling with my boyfriend. Love the beautiful blue of the bottle and the uniquely Dali design. Also, the perfumer who created this also crafted many CdG fragrances and that is a huge PLUS for me.

Already enjoyed the Laguna, but today it gives me a headache . Its smell is sweet, with a jasmine note soaked in coconut milk which is very persistent . Its projection is powerful and lasts more than six hours on my skin .
Highlight for the bottle is a classic.

It’s summer vacation in a bottle. Light, pretty, sweet but not too sweet. Just incredibly enjoyable. 🙂

  50. :

Madrona hit the nail on the head with her apt review. Laguna IS the vacation fragrance of choice of a die hard Hypnotic Poison devotee. (In other words, its perfect for me)! I get a well blended mix of creamy vanilla, subtle coconut flesh, citrus (mostly lemon but not at all sharp or acidic), clean musk and something reminiscent of beach sand. The whole concoction reminds me of laying on a beach towel on white sand, clad in a bikini, while sipping a tropical cocktail. The mingled scents of the fruity drink, coconutty sunscreen, and salty sea air assuage my nostrils with the most perfect aroma of summer.
I will be wearing the heck out of this in July! Thanks Goldenfire5 for another wonderful swap! This is by far the most uniquely complex beach fragrance. It just may be the best summer scent I’ve ever encountered.
Sillage sits close to the skin but longevity is endless (well over 10 hours)!

  51. :

The Hypnotic Poison woman sits in front of the fireplace, snow falling outside. She sighs, gets her laptop out and promptly books a ticket to The Bahamas. This is what she wears on her vacation. Not your conventional, light, fruity, aquatic, super-citrusy summer scent, but still a Caribbean vacation in a bottle.

Quoting from the above information “A warm floral fragrance of the sea shore.” This is exactly right! This perfume gives exactly what is promised. The bottle design and name are also in synch with the actual end product.
I can smell my skin slowly suntanning, and sea salt drying from drops of blue water that splashed onto me.
There is a sensual undercurrent of musk too, tempered with a fresh breeze.

I loved this fragrance it’s different from anything I’ve smelled before. It does remind me of a summer vacation at the beach, but it doesn’t smell fruity or tropical on me.I got more of a fresh cool water type of scent.

Laguna is simply perfect if you live in a tropical country like me (although I also use it in cold temperatures); Laguna has a very retro/vintage vibe and I believe its was done to be BOLD and SURREAL. Not stupid cliche summer fresh smells but something about elegant girls. Its indeed not a usunal summer scent but a Dali summer, surrealistic in all the ways. Powdery and retro summer. My kind of perfume.

  58. :

    4 out of 5

Laguna is an odd one – quite complex, and definitely not the typical fruity floral you might expect when you look at the note pyramid.
The very opening always makes me think how aptly named it is: it’s like someone has mixed an oldfashioned kind of fruity perfume with sea water by accident, and then discovered the result is surprisingly nice and decided to bottle it. Just as weird as it sounds and not very natural, but original and pretty cool, really not unenjoyable. At this point I’m not entirely sold, it’s not really my thing, but my interest is definitely piqued.
In the heart there’s a phase where it gets closer to being a “normal” fruity floral, with prominent pineapple next to the aquatic notes and a lot of other, more muddled fruits and florals in the background. It’s still original though, in that it’s pretty heavy and rich for a summer scent, really not very fresh at all, let alone light. This phase lasts for a couple of hours, and then there’s a period where the scent seems to be fading away, almost disappearing, making me think it’s all over and Laguna is interesting enough, but after all just a mediocre “like” for me.
But no, it turns out the best is yet to come! After a while it’s back as strong as ever, but entirely transformed: now it’s all sweet and slightly spicy sandalwood and tonka, and most of all a wonderful vanilla that’s deliciously boozy from the lingering juicy fruit notes. Lovely!
I’m obviously having a hard time describing this shapeshifter of a fragrance myself, so I’ll just say I agree with Yohji below: “unique”, “extravagant” and “contradictional” are exactly the right words for Laguna. I’m not sure I’ll ever get a full bottle, but finishing up my decant should be fascinating at the very least.

This is one of my go-to summer fragrances. I smelled it for the first time back in 1997, I was fifteen: my mom bought a pen shaped 10ml atomizer for me. It was November -near summer here in the Southern Hemisphere- and I took it on a trip to Iguazu Falls. Nowadays, everytime I wear it I remember the rainforest, the enormous falls, the orchids hanging from the trees, Misiones’s red soil, the summer showers in the morning followed by a blistering sun and Horacio Quiroga’s short stories… Someone said before this flower blooms in hot weather, and it is true. The hotter the better. Otherwise the citrus won’t show up and it can end up smelling a bit like plastic.

Fulfills both the need of freshness and of warmth, it´s simply a scent I can´t get enough of. Love in a bottle!
Too bad it´s weak like a bodyspray compared to the 90’s version, but whatever remains on the skin lingers on, and on, and on.

I like this one much better the newer version, Laguna maravilla, which I also have. Maravilla is too generic.

I love the idea of Laguna but actually wearing it is a much more complicated affair. It seems to fight with itself, looking for an identity.
There’s just too much going on all at once here…too much salt water coconut trying to mix with citrus, fruit and flowers. It seems that this should exude a tropical flair but there’s something dark here as well, exuding a somber tone throughout. I liken it to swimming in a beautiful blue ocean off a sandy beach while sharks swarm around you.
I’m sad that this Dali creation just doesn’t click for me. I had high hopes.

Wonderful complex frag! Loved it in the 90nth, it blew me away in the Kingdom of Amber by Roger Zelazny! It has something marine, though it is not salty, and it has something soothing, though it is not sweet IMO, at list not sugary. For me it strongly assoсiates with a ship, that took prince Corwin back to Amber after many years of exile.

After hearing this mentioned a lot on the boards as a great summer fragrance I decided to give it a shot. This one was love at first sniff and I love how unique this scent is! To my nose it’s a mixture of fruit and salty sea air…very invigorating on a hot day or anytime for that matter. It lasts about 6 hours on me with moderate sillage. A real keeper!!

I came so close to putting this up for swap. I blind bought this and did a little spray on my arm. Bleh! Citrus and I just don’t get along and there was something that smelt a bit like dirt. Anyway, I gave it another shot today. Two sprays. Not so bad – still citrus but then i let it sit for a while and it just blooms into this lovely vanilla/ tonka bean/ sandalwood combo.
    Keeping it.
And I love the bottle too.

Laguna is full of contradictions but somehow actually works. The name, color scheme and ad campaign suggest that it will be an aquatic, summery fragrance, which it definitely is not. The fragrance is somehow fresh yet thick — it does not have the open, airy quality of an eau de cologne. It is too oriental to be a warm weather fragrance, but too zesty and tropical to work during winter. In spite of all this, it is a pleasant and accessible fragrance.
Even though Salvador Dali himself was a surrealist, all of the fragrances released under his name seem impressionistic. After testing several of them, I’ve noticed that they all have a very diffused quality, with broad swaths of scent as opposed to distinct, individual, identifiable notes. While many fragrances adhere to the traditional pyramidal format, Dali’s fragrances feel more like a vague fog of scent that you experience as a general haze.
The bottle is a work of art. The glass has a beautiful turquoise translucence to it. The shape is smooth and graceful, and the full lips and nose convey both sensuality and eccentricity.
Although I wish there was more depth and variation within Laguna, it still smells good and is successful as an overall fragrance. For such an inexpensive price I doubt you’ll be disappointed with Laguna. If nothing else the bottle looks beautiful on a shelf.

I wanted to like this fragrance, I really did.
But as usual, citrus-based perfume mix really horribly on my skin.
I felt like I was drowned in synthetic citronella and I just can’t get it off.
I may try it a second time, but it was a bad attempt to try and make citrusy perfume fit my chemistry.

I bought a small bottle of this blindly and loved it, so bought a huge bottle. I mostly get the Sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean, amber and some other woody an
