Description

Lacoste Elegance was introduced in 2007. It is an oriental-fougere fragrance for men. It opens with notes of peppermint, thyme, and juniper and continues with spicy accords of nutmeg, cardamom, black pepper and raspberry in the heart. Base notes bring wafts of chocolate, sandalwood, amber and musk.

The bottle was designed by Denis Boudard, while the outer box by Lutz Hermann Design. It is available as 50ml (1.7 fl.oz.) and 90ml (3.14 fl.oz.) EDT, 50ml (1.7 fl.oz.) and 90ml (3.14 fl.oz.) after shave balm, 150ml (5.24 fl.oz.) bath gel, deo stick and 150ml (5.24 fl.oz.) deo spray.

This perfume is my first perfume in mylife…It’s very Elegance scent. The top is very refreshing, a bit icy and almost cold..Suitable to ladies not for men..And in Thailand I’ve never seen anymore.

I’ve whittled down my collection quite a bit but I hung on to this one. This is the only Lacoste fragrance I’ve ever liked and what I do like about it is you can wear it anytime. It’s not overpowering, just nice, lasts a while. If you’re looking for something you can wear any day at anytime, this is it. It’s unique too, or at least I haven’t come across anything like it.

maybe not so much of a review but a tip really. if you like this one, buy boucheron quatre instead:)
i used to have this around the time when it came out, and found it really safe and pleasant for wintertime office wear. you will just smell like a nice guy who is not there to turn heads or kick ass, just to do a decent job:) the only thing is, that the snuggley/cuddley vibes can be too strong maybe, not to be seen as a bit of a stay-in mama’s boy:D but if you are otherwise a strong sporty , well-traveled guy, you will pull it off no problem. in fact, these snuggley/cuddley tones make this one the ultimate office xmas party scent, for the whole festive season that is a top choice to consider.
having said that, after my 90ml bottle was over, i certainly wasnt looking to get a new one. it was a good experience but didnt make it near to the solid group of 20ish that i would re-buy in a heart beat.
so i completely forget about it, and now, some 10 years later i blind bought a bottle of boucheron quatre, which immidietely reminded me of the lacoste elegant. in fact, the first 30mins is almost indentical. so why buy the boucheron instead? i think you can probably find somewhat better deals on it, but even if they are the same price, the quatre comes just a tiny bit more fresh and dynamic across (which would be well needed for the elegance too). also the quatre is a more multi-dimensional frag, while the elegance has no real evolution, from the first spray to the last minute where it still projects, it stays the same. the quatre will really surprise you hours later with the diffrent phases it takes, all very classy and well balanced, but different phases. as a bonus it also has some of the nicest bottles (while the elegance is anything but elegant in that department)

My bottle is from 2008, based on checkcosmetics. To my skin, the first minute is a typical alcohol blast with no direction, uneven, dirty freshness. Then some mentholated pepper spices added warmth, the smell is slowly constructing or forming. I can sense it’s potential. it was shaping on mint and spices, I smelled a bit of fruity sourness; maybe from raspberry. By the heart, mint stayed, spices stayed, along came soft sandalwood and wet cacao. it left a trail for some minutes, light aromatic. There’s brief vegetal smell or like mimosa or papyrus. The base was a very faint nutmeg and amber, some sweetness. The musk is at the background while a bitter wet cacao is truly evident.. Not as bitter compared to Kokorico.. No burnt rubber/plastic smell. In paper and in clothes, it was less complex, it was boring. Lacoste Elegance will bring out its charming character when applied on skin but the scent journey quickly went close to skin. I felt that Lacoste Elegance is without elegance because it is simply a eau de cologne performance. Don’t get me wrong because it is inviting and its sensuality lies on its near end. Magnetism and pure pleasure at it’s prolonged dying moments ala killing me softly… Ladies delight the smell of bittersweet cocoa, wet or dry. So is Lacoste Elegance a keeper? You bet. 🙂

I had a bittersweet experience with this fragrance. I personally detested the smell of it on me, it was almost as if someone sprayed a spice and chocolate on a metal plate. Though surprisingly, those around me loved it. I never knew what to make of it.

Upon reading about this having a chocolate note in it, I thought I’de sample it first. It smells very nice. I love it.! It’s smells sweet with chocolate/mint and some spice. When I first tried it, it was hard to pick out those notes until trying it out more a few times. “Seduction in Black” by Antonio Banderas smells like chocolate/mint at first, but it doesn’t have any chocolate or mint notes in it. Thats’ what I call a “olfactory illusion”. The dry down on “Elegance” smells just a little like spice. This frag. has excellent longevity. I tried it on before going to bed and it was still on my skin the next morning. I hesitated to buy a bottle right away, but after thinking about it and it was getting into the Winter months, I went ahead and ordered a bottle. I highly recommend this fragrance to try out first. If you like “Seduction in Black” then you’ll probably like this one even better. I know I do.

When I saw the name ‘Elegance’, I felt a little weird – Well, Lacoste is very well-known sports casual brand and my perception towards the brand was all about young, cheerful comfy outfits that are really meant for relaxing holiday in France. Therefore, I thought the word ‘Elegance’ is not really suitable to be used on the perfume from this French house.
However, when I sampled this perfume in the local perfume retail shop, I felt that the name is not misleading the perfume. It is really elegant men’s perfume and quite different from any of the current releases from Lacoste.
As many reviewers mentioned, it does have a very cold opening. There is a very distinctive fresh note which almost disturbs my nose in a harsh way. Thankfully, that cold opening doesn’t last that long and it becomes a toned-down sweetness. I don’t know where this sweet scent comes from, but as time goes by, it is mixed with very warm spices until it fades away.
I could say that it is somehow elegant, which make me to think a guy in a smart casual wear (or should I say semi-formal to be more appropriate?), such as black kneet and a pair of black cotton trousers with sporty sneakers. I personally find most of the oriental fougere perfumes are a little strong to be worn under hot climate, but this is soft enough to be used during summer or tropic region. I see this perfume as ‘Summary oriental fougere’ perfume.
Many others have stated that the biggest virtue of this perfume is sillage and lasting power. I do experience same thing here – I think the maximum is around 4hours and it is quite disappointing when I consider the price of this perfume (Lacoste’s perfume tends to be very pricey in Asian market). However, if you could find it in the online discount shops, it is quite worth it to give a try. Recommended for those who likes sweet perfume.

An interesting anomaly for Lacoste, known for extremely reliable sports clothing and rather solid if not somewhat disposable and synthetic hot weather fragrances for spring and summer. This is Lacoste’s only entrance into the world of gourmands; with the result a rather odd and obscure blending of extremely dry chocolate and cold fresh spices with a sour mandarin note tucked behind it. This one is hard to access. It’s sensual, it’s highly original, it’s dark, cold, warm and yet fresh and spicy as well. It seems custom made for sensual evening wear and/or winter cold days/nights and will score tremendous points for originality and obscurity. This is for the man who has everything else. Unfortunately for me I can’t yet make sense of it yet to give a fair review and will try again in the future. Seems to be on the verge of being discontinued, do not see it any longer available in specialty Lacoste stores in Lyon, Marseille or Toulouse.

It wasn’t bad, it was just a little one dimensional. I like frags with more ingredients. This one sits in the junk drawer and might come out once or twice a year.

Very very sweet! Not for me
Very bad projection and sillage, and not a good longevity too!
    But scent is not bad.

This is what I’m seeking in a recent “designer” fragrance. I know I’m not going to get the complexity, richness, and natural smell of the ones from the 1980s, for example, but who cares (I have enough of those!)? I don’t know if I think of Elegance as elegant, but rather almost “experimental.” The reason is that it combines the new raspberry/wood molecule with mint, juniper, thyme, chocolate, and a kind of woody grassiness. Who would have thought such a combination would work? And the thing is that all the notes stay for hours, rather than there being much in the way of development. In this way, a new kind of complexity is created. For me, one full spray to the chest lasts all day, with just the right projection/”sillage,” so perhaps the complaints are due to skin chemistry with this one. Note that the much more expensive Tuscan Leather uses the same raspberry/wood molecule, apparently, but I prefer this fragrance (and I enjoy The Knize Ten). Another odd but compelling recent designer fragrance is Magnetism for Men by Escada, so if you like Elegance on principle you should try that one too.
I think I understand why some might say this is not really a “personal fragrance,” but it does settle in nicely for me, and there is note separation and dynamism. The “synthetic” quality is interesting, unlike some fragrances that have a syrupy “chemical soup” quality to me (like a couple of Adidas ones I’ve tried). I tend not to wear this one if I am going to do a lot of sitting during the day. It’s better if you walk around when wearing this one, so that the “synthetic” quality never becomes bothersome. It’s an “oddball” that’s worth a try if you enjoy variety, but it’s not a typical fragrance for any specific social occasion. Also, if you don’t care about note separation or have not developed your ability to detect several notes in a fragrance, this might not work as well for you as it does for me.

it’s but 1 hour later, none can feel it, none even you!
Who cares it’s a nice perfume so if you want to buy it go ahead!

Fresh fruity opening, with a touch of suede/leather that evolved on my skin pretty fast (10-15 minutes) into a sweet soft spicy gourmand middle-base, with nutmeg, caraway, chocolate and amber as most evident notes.
Low sillage and longevity (I’ve got no more than 3-4 hours with 5 good sprays).
A safe oriental-fougere, nothing remarkable or different enough for me to deserve a purchase.
It reminded me at some stages, of a less peppery version of Hugo Boss Baldessarini. My rank 7/10. ☣☣

Strangely good scent. I can smell the plastic (or chocolate or leather?) at first then freshen up with something orangey. The spices are stronger than chocolate note; giving the scent some warmth but not spicy. The scent isn’t exactly elegant, but more like cozy and comforting scent. Great for this time of the year; fall-winter. Sadly, the plasticky smell bothers me a bit, so I won’t be investing on a bottle any time soon.

opening with touch of leather, spicy, 10 minute later change to oriental woody, with some sweet.
chocolate and caraway are easy to smell in dry-down .
    longevity and sillage are ok
nice fragrance worth the try, but for me not very special .
    attractive bottle.

A very sexy laid back unisex smell. Perfect for leisurely autumn evenings.

This is a nice fragrance. As the name suggests, it does conjure images of a certain kind of elegance however, it needs to be stronger, it’s way too weak.

    Davidoff Cologne for Men
Cigars, cigarettes, Davidoff? The pure pleasures of a life led simply, Russian-born Zino Davidoff enjoyed it all with prized humor. The Davidoff philosophy—“the good life”—embodies his perfumes. Pure, complete scents—Adventure, Cool Water, Silver Shadow—are the ultimate sensual experience by Davidoff Parfums and essentials for the worldly. “Very Zino,” Davidoff was a lover of good taste, beauty and elegance. He lived the Davidoff mantra, “No one gets a second chance to leave a good first impression.”

I agree with rebella as the refreshing and almost cold start, it is nice. The scent captivated me at first but then a particular and lasting smell with a flowery tone (to my nose) ruined the experience :-(. I don’t get a chocolate note, and even less a “dark” one. The scent itself is a bit fruity and flowery, for sure doesn’t smell bad, is a little different from many others I’ve tried but then, not a choice for my own use.

This is a modern fragrance. The top is very refreshing, a bit icy and almost cold and when my husband wears it, I always feel a curiosity about what that comes next. It´s a sursprising perfume… because in the end the cold, crispy notes are taken over by hot, varm and creamy chocolate. Lovely!
