Description

La Forêt de Fontainebleau captures the excitement of nineteenth century vacationers and artists as they explore the forest of Fontainebleau with their cameras, paints, and picnic baskets at the ready. The familiar scents of forest foliage and crushed grass mingle with the new aromas of leather boots, rich Parisian perfumes, and painter’s palettes as the visitors wander about, eager to find the perfect view or the best shaded grove for an afternoon luncheon: a modern olfactory invasion of the tranquil woodland. A must-try for vintage perfume lovers.

The oakmoss-heavy base of La Forêt de Fontainebleau contains our own all-natural interpretation of de Laire’s famous Mousse de Saxe accord: redolent of forest foliage, licorice, and leather. This dark base adds depth to the spicy and sharp heart notes of pepper, clove, and carnation.

La Fôret de Fontainbleau was launched in 2017.

This perfume reminds me of Frank Herbert’s DUNE epic, where ‘the spice’ was their addiction. Their ‘spice’ would probably smell just like this! Flashes of lightning from black pepper, atmospheric pressure from the leather/sandalwood, and ‘the spice’ itself – clove, natural and strong. I picture Dune’s freeman in the middle of a sandstorm, collecting the precious spice that enhances awareness. Also like ‘spice’, cloves were once the most valuable trading resource in the universe. In the 17th century, clove islands, like Dune’s Arrakis, were ruthlessly exploited. Cloves being more costly than gold. LFdF is a fine modern clove scent, and like ‘spice’, addictive!

    Sweet licorice cloves.
It has that sweet spicy tingle with allot of oakmoss, and some black pepper. There isn’t any civet but ylang and sandalwood is there while the roses kept at minimal.
It’s fair but i had higher hope than fair to be honest as i thought it will be something outstanding but turned to be fair.

LE FORET DE FOUNTAINBLEU is a present day reminder of BELLODGIA by Caron’s Ernest Daltroff from 1927. If that iconic perfume was one you wore as did my mother, you will be transported to another time when perfumery wasn’t constrained by IFRA. Perfect for late fall/early winter with it’s leathery carnation headiness.

Smelled this at Tigerlily SF and it’s a peppery clovey mossy extrait that goes amazing layered over Yosh’s Sea Ranch a very soft yet long lasting orange flower salty feminine perfume.
