This smells like the juiciest nectarine at first. It’s after a few minutes that I can smell the violet and rose. I can’t say I can distinctly smell the litchi but maybe it’s what makes it such a juicy scent. I imagined it to be a summer scent, but winter is coming so will give it another try soon. It is definitely different from other fruity perfumes, but I have really struggled to wear this on its own. Maybe I will try and layer it, and if I still can’t wear it I will probably part with it.

There are a lot more notes in this than what’s written on the side of the bottle (or on Fragrantica) that’s for sure!
The side of my bottle says:
    ACCORDS
    NECTARINE
    LITCHI
    ROSE
    FLEUR DE VIOLETTE
    PATCHOULI
    1993
(but the bottle is from 2013)
There HAS TO BE at least some BENZOIN and some CINNAMON and SPICES in this, as well as a WHIPPED CREAM ACCORD and maybe even some STRAWBERRIES because I sure as hell am smelling them! I know this has been voted as a fall/winter scent but on this hot day in summer, I am transported to a fantasy world with pink fluffy clouds, pink flamingos wearing sunglasses, a cheerful, upbeat beach/pool scene in a totally stylized neon-colored fantasy world of the late 80’s/early 90’s. I totally understand why this was originally called Champagne because I really do get that light fizzy, fruity pink champagne peach bellini feeling.
I remember the original. It was a bit of a powerhouse just like the original YSL Paris. This version feels like one of the seasonal lighter summery Paris flankers in comparison, but it’s still very true to the original. I would say 90-95% similar but lighter and fluffier. So if you never get to smell the original, you aren’t missing much. You can just smell this and imagine it as thicker and stronger, more wintery.
I love this! I’m so happy I got it! I almost passed it up like “I already have so many peach perfumes…” but I’m so glad that perfume monster inside me was like “No! Must have this too!”

Carpp79 it is. But with peach instead of rose.

Is yvresse somehow similar to rochas tocade? I love tocade, and i’d like to know if they have the same vibe. Thanks

Love, love, love! Classy, optimistic, cheerful and naughty. Delicate fruits, cosmetic-like violet. And yes, it is sparkling, fizzy and heady like light alcohol.

A Blast from the Past… I remember my mother having the original Champagne, later the renamed Yvresse (because of the Champagne trademark protection lawsuit) and I, in my teens, having a huge frosted bottle of the legere -version, having found the EDP too strong for my teenage sensitivities, but fascinated with the scent. All the original bottles were gorgeous, very well crafted to emanate the champagne -filled special moment happiness and luxury of the scent.
As for the Collection version: I think you will immediately recognise the scent, if you have memories of the original from the nineties. It may lack some of the richness and initial spark of the original, being a simplified version, but I think it’s definately a worthy buy, if you miss the original scent. The nectarine note makes the scent still so luscious and rich. The texture of the liquid is more alike to oil than water. Which explains the super longevity, I think.
The original was a real powerhouse in sillage and longevity and the Collection version is to be sprayed with consideration too. Personally I use too sprays max, and even one spray is enough if you want to use this on an everyday basis. I wouldn’t call this office safe, more of a special moment scent. (Which to me can mean anything from a happy day off work or a big festivity) The collection bottle will last you a long time.
I very much enjoy the Collection version of the scent although I must confess, I would love to find the original/legere -version, just for the gorgeous bottle and a walk down on memory lane…

    Wowza peachy schnapps monsterrrrr!
This has beast level longevity and sillage
I do feel like I’ve smelt the dry down on generally more mature women over the years but that’s ok.
    Notes: tester card
Liquoricey peachy apricotty rich (not fresh type fruit) wrapped in creamy thick floral sweetness.
—you know what else has this -that Taylor swift one it has pearls around the lid, and a Jessica Simpson one um, it’s in my reviews, white bottle and from the fancy range but it’s not the “fancy” named one. Not the same perfume as Yvresse but it’s got that peach hang around not sure if I can deal with it in summer note.
Tuberose tickled my thoughts as I know that’s a rich flower, but I could be wrong.
This changes the same way a bloom does from day to evening. It doesn’t have a fresh flower bloomness, but the essence of it is like what you might smell at night (but thickly so) in a garden of blooms. It’s heavy on the peachy thing it’s got going on.
It doesn’t sparkle it sits there and has what could be sickly sweet fruit. This is hot humid summer though so don’t be alarmed.
Going by the tester card I couldnt deal with this all day, but, in winter and layered Yvresse might perform differently.
Don’t discount it but I wouldn’t blind buy it. I wouldn’t call it office safe.
It is a longevity beast and these days I appreciate that, so money wise you could use only a few sprays and be set for the day.

Wearing a tester today. It does have some resemblance to the original Yvresse (Champagne) but rather basic. It starts with a fizzy peach cola wave and in a couple of minutes goes into its main peachy rosy fruity winy stage for a couple of hours. This is the best stage of this fragrance to my taste, but it is not as deep, lively and playful as the original was (are you surprised?). The drydown is a bit of a disappointment, kind of plasticy.
Overall it is not the best reformulation of an 80s classic fragrance and it’s overpriced for its quality, to my mind. But for a modern fragrance it is not a terrible one and I would chose it over many designers’ ‘fruitchoulies’ in the modern market. It is quite linear and lacks in nuances and refinement but pretty pleasant. The longevity is up to 5 hours, the sillage from moderate to soft

This is absolutely divine, I want to smell it again and again. The top notes pickle my nose like lovely sweet champagne, then the scent turns creamier, like rose lipstick, very elegant and comforting. It stays on clothes for several days or even weeks (on a coat or fur) and also lasts long on skin (8+ hours).

Well, since it’s impossible to not compare this to the fabulous original formula, here goes my dissection of this monster:
    *Triple the Litchi
*Halve the Stone Fruits & Violet
    *Remove Coconut, Amber, and Woods
This reform is so sweet it actually makes me queasy. It isn’t even as good as the Champagne dupe “perfume oil” I bought in Mexico a decade ago. I would never wear this even if I wasn’t closely acquainted with the original. Maybe if it was layered with a woody, nutty, amber base it would improve. But, why bother?

Gosh! My first thought was delicious fruity champagne. The scene from Charley and Chocolate Factory (the original and the best) popped into my head as Grandad and Charlie float upwards towards possible disaster but a good burp saves the day!
Ripe peaches bobbing along in fizzy champagne. There is also the unmistakeable lychee note. Fresh ripe lychees picked straight from the tree smell like heaven and I am glad a perfume house has taken full advantage of this beautiful note. I definitely get a bit of accent from the violet, sweetness from rose and earthiness from patch in the background. Eventually the peachiness fades and then its all about a touch of lychee, some violet and a bit of patch. I cant believe this beauty has managed to stay below my perfume testing radar. Its supposed to be edt strength but Im sure its stronger. Good sillage and average longevity.
This juice is gorgeous but now it makes me wonder how divine the original formulation must have been. So sad.

    ❤️

I’ve just picked up a bottle, when compared to the original, there is a difference, mainly in the opening, but the drydown is almost identical, it’s wonderfully smooth. The YSL assistant explained that the fragrance had a ‘live fruit’ ingredient, and it is the fruit that makes this unique. I can imagine sales of this are very poor in comparison to new additions like Black Opium and old classics like Rive Gauche, so thanks YSL for keeping going with it. My only criticism would be the horrible chunky bottle, it works so well with my bottle of M7, heavy and bulky, Yvresse is so light and feminine, it needs something more delicate. It is still unique and fabulous, love it.

Sprayed this by chance and my oh my what a divine find this was. It’s extremely fruity, musky and moreish! I CANNOT stop smelling my wrist. It’s simultaneously feminine, sophisticated and sexy. I sprayed it 4 hours ago and it’s still here, I’ve not smelled the original so can’t compare but this one is lovely. 10/10

  15. :

Not a fan of violet, not a fan of fruity perfumes (particularly lychee), but I love this. Soft, sweet, reminds me of makeup. Extremely feminine. Try this one even if you don’t usually like the notes. So well blended, they don’t really stand out apart from each other, but meld together to create a soft, sweet, comforting, feminine fragrance. For some reason the first five minutes was kind of bitter, but that passes quickly.

Ok it’s not the same as the old stuff but I personally love this one and my skin is in love with it!
The perfume which collect the most compliments when I’m wearing it.
Stays all day and gives a very elegant feeling.
The only chypre fruity I love! 10 excellent!

I hate to be one of those people who say ‘it’s not as good as the original’, but sorry, that’s the truth of it. It’s not as complex and you have to wait a while to get past all the heavy fruity tones, to the warm sparkle underneath. When that finally does come through, after a couple of hours or so on my skin, then it is comparable to Champagne and far more chypre. Having said all that, I still find it a nice perfume once it has mellowed, was just disappointed that it doesn’t have that lovely complexity from the very beginning as it once did. It also stays a bit too fruity to match the old formulation.

I understand all fans of the original who used it for years as long as it was available – I’m sure there is some noticable difference for their well-trained and highly-experienced noses between the original and the creamy-square-bottled version. I don’t remember the original that perfectly. But what I do remember is the amazing idea of the scent that is well-preserved here. And if you are looking for Yvresse – it’s still here! Only younger, weaker, less expressive – but it is still Yvresse – only slightly anemic… I’d really love to have it!

I had Yvresse 15 years ago. Today I bought the new version. I think it is still the same. It is only lighter because now it is an EDT. It used to be a perfume in the 90`s….

Have never tired the original yvresse or champagne but if they were anything like this one they had to be one of the best thing ever made !!!! I have one word for this parfume and that’s “wow”.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

i respect yvress and champagne and have few bottles of each,-partials unfortunattely, that have a tendency to shrink fast….
once i saw this new edition, i bought 2 bottles immediately.
For those, who have never had a chance to smell a ‘real’ thing-it does smell former yvress in general, so u can get an idea what people rave about….
for those who was a user of a ‘real’ juice, it is vague reminder of yvress’s former glory… new yvress is very ‘shallow’, quite linear and no depth.
so what i do with my 2bottles then??
i layer new version and spray ‘fizz’of champagne or yvress on top.perfect. economical for my old reserves! and alltogeather it creates this ‘intence’ ‘yvress’ presence, that it would normally take 8-10 sprays(of original perfume) to achieve.

  22. :

This one smell reminds me of a very strong guvava flavoured fizzy pop drink! Not as good and complex as the original Yvresse.

Having never smelt the original, I can only guess what it was. Knowing that Grossman was the nose is enough to know it would have been amazing.
Comments on this version………… I don’t like fruit in perfume, Fist thoughts were ugh, fruit salad, pass me the soap to get rid of this. However this lasted all of 1 minute and I was left with a rather lovely scent which was exactly like the colour of the bottle (creamy). In fact it was the bottle I noticed first and this is the second time I have asked about it. The first time I only got a sample on paper and the fruit never wore off.
Although there is nothing bubbly about this, it is rather unusual for today’s offerings and I may yet be tempted.
Having worn it now for some hours I notice an affiliation with Tresor Absolu. Having discovered both these perfume houses belong to L’Oreal, I can understand this co-incidence, Hopefully they will not end up cloning scents for each perfume house.

This reformulation lost all the fizzyness and energy of the original and is left with a sweet and cloying reminder of it’s old glory. However, the drydown is actually pleasant and closer to the original version.

I feel hyacinth, poudre and violet mostly, it’s a cute, fresh and long lasting spring fragrance, like a lot of YSL fragrances. It’s an older brother of Paris, Balenciaga.

  26. :

Having now tested the original Yvresse (EDT) and this version my thoughts are the following:
The ‘collection’ version is more brash and crude. I prefer the subtlety, femininity and delicatesse of the original. You definitely pick up the missing notes in the original too which makes it an altogether more creamy, soft and sensual fragrance.
I find this version slightly disappointing. One has all the class of Monica Bellucci and the other is Megan Fox.

I realize now what a treasure I have in my drawer: an Yvresse from 2010 and an Opium from 2007, used 2 or 3 times…. 🙂

  28. :

    3 out of 5

Yes it is a bit different than the original Yvresse but it is very close to that scent (for the first 2 hours almost identical). And the most important thing of all, at least for me, it is worth the money. It has great sillage and it is very long lasting! I love it and i usually hate reformulations. But you have to remember this: thay had stopped producing the perfume at all! So we should be happy they brought it back in the market. I am!

GOOD FOR THE MONEY! Went by the YSL counter in my local dept store the other day and decided to try it the new La Collection version. First I spritzed a card and put it in my wallet and then after my wrist. All I can say is, on my skin it was a very vague reminder of the original Yvresse; all I got was a slap of something very pungent and after one hour I could not recognise it as Yvresse any more! In my wallet it lasted a few days and all the money in there came out smelling of Patchouli :o) I wore Champagne when it first came out and on my wedding day in 1995. I still have the pure perfume bottle, albeit empty but the fragrance is still there. I have worn Yvresse on and off since then and have no intention of buying the new “cheap” clone :o(

@lazza well, fascinating – I feel peaches and champagne bublles in this “la collection” version. I tried twice the original Yvresse and it was huge disappointment – weird sweet powdery perfume… no peaches no sparkle nothing…

  31. :

Update….After wearing La collection for last few days it does have a weak resemblence to Yvresse, my opinion is better than my firt day of wearing, but still a huge dissapointment compared to Yvresse and it’s beautiful complex formula. What is sad is there is no choice, that if you desire a vague reminder of Yvresse this is all we have left to choose from.
Of course this is on my skin, hopefully others have a more satisfying result. But am still very dissapointed and a little dillusioned that La Collection is my only alternative.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

I succumbed and bought La Collection Yvresse, realising that every one’s skin does react differently to fragrances. I am appalled that L’oreal would do this to such a unique perfume. The package and bottle has Yvresse on it, it is nothing like the discontinued Yvresse. Yvresse has around 24 notes in it La Colletion has 5. Sprayed and was hit with chemical green note. The smell on my skin is disgusting, can barely smell the peach, vaguely can detect the violet, and the dry down patchouli is vile,a chemical smell that smells as if I had rolled in mouldy grass clippings. Will see by the end of the day the result, the old Yvresse would last all day on my skin, it was effervescent and the powdery dry down was delightful. Doubt if i will ever waste my money on La Collection ever again. It is like comparing vinegar to fine wine.

  33. :

i haven’t had the good fortune to sniff the original so no comment there. I do think that despite reading the reviews before trying a sample of this, that this is a lovely perfume. it’s powdery and soft but not so soft that it disappears, as to its longevity we shall see towards the end of the day. the notes listed are accurate, i can actually piece out the flush of nectarine, the sweetness of lychees, the delicate violet flower and the oomph of the patchouli. overall, a lovely perfume. nothing va va voom but deserving of a good review.
Having tried and bought the original Yvresse, I have to say the two are completely different scents. Not to say La collection is bad, not at all. I still stand firm that it is a lovely scent. But it is a younger, more innocent, less interesting scent than Yvresse who comes across as a lush compared to the other. I like both…will save them for my Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde days 🙂

gotta write again, I start to wear ONLY this perfume… It is amazing… just amazing… thanks god i never tried the vintage version, wouldn’t be able to appreciate it!!! as i can’t smell “fakes” like estee, knowing, magie noire etc…

how can they write it was launched 2011?first it was called champagne(like i see people know that)and was very short time on market.i m so lucky to have 50ml edp,and 50ml extrait-both just sprayed once!much nicer botle then this new one,and more concentrated, dark gold juice!only perfume i like with fruits(where you realy smell the fruits).

Yvresse is My signature scent.I too wore it first as Champagne.I have one still in the box for backup.I can’t believe the bottle has changed!!I agree why mess with perfection!!!

I really love it! I sprayed it once in the morning, I still feel it now, it lasted for more then 12 hours… wow!

  38. :

    4 out of 5

I have tried it now several times and i can assure you that this one still smells like Yvresse and quite long lasting as well, but since it is reformulated, the composition is not that rich and the opening is not pleasant at all, it scared me off, you have to get use to it. With original “Yvresse” it was different, it was pleasant all the way and had a real “fizzy” feeling. This one just as “plain” as it can be, nothing “bubbly”. But still quite good (though chemical is the word i always get when spray this) and if you miss Yvresse it is a good copy. Please don´t expect it to be an exact copy of Yvresse.
    So worth trying indeed.

  39. :

    3 out of 5

Iazza, you’re right. But some other fragrances by YSL were also relaunched in this new flacon, and accordingly to some reviews, they seemed reformulated by L’oreal. Hence, my worry.
I hope that they’ve kept Yvresse intact and that the new flacon is just a new representation, not a new scent. Let’s hope.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

Please correct me if I am wrong, but there was
a legal battle with Yves Saint Laurent after the launch of Champagne perfume was lauched in 1993.
They objected to the word champagne so champagne was
re-named Yvresse not re-formulated. I also thought that Yvresse (ivresse) a play on words meant intoxication, drunk! I have not found anywhere that it
was re-formulated only re-named because of that legal battle.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

the real yvresse was infact champagne. yvresse was a copy.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

If they discontinued the real Yvresse to put another reformulation to sell in its place I’ll curse L’oreal forever. First, they ruined Opium, now they change Yvresse?
Why don’t they change Babydoll? For God’s sake… don’t mess with something that is already great. It seems like they’re doing it intentionally, killing the classics of YSL!
I love Yvresse to death, and would be very disappointed if they’ve changed it for the worse.
Oh, and the new bottle is a crap!
Damn it L’oreal, you should have kept yourself in the shampoo businness.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

First of all i haven´t tried the “Yvresse” but only “Champagne” which i have both in EDT and pure parfum version and i looove it. Maybe the original “Yvresse” is no different from “Champagne”, i don´t know, but yesterday i have smelled finally this new edition of “Yvresse” and was really dissapointed. Yes, it is still very much like “Champagne”, but it has much more violet leaves in it and too much of the rose note. Because of that the opening is very much chemical and really unpleasant. While the original one was more fizzy thanks to the peaches, this one is having more of some dusty note in it. This one doesn´t have that amazing peach note and you can instantly feel that there are less notes in composition than in the original one. Quite suffocating in the beginning it becomes more pleasant after many hours, but still a shadow of this joy in the bottle… Nope, i will pass on this one, next please…
UPDATE (next day): well, this one is actually not bad, might be even enjoyable, but for those who have experienced the original one this one might not be enough. While original one was like a dance of champagne bubbles this one is more like a sad purple rain.
ANOTHER UPDATE (the day after tomorrow): Well, after trying this one the 3rd time and wearing it for the whole day i start to like it actually. Yes, still the opening is too chemical for me, too much dusty violet combined with rose, but in general this is quite the same fragrance as it used to be in general MINUS fizzy peach. It can be really nice actually and i keep sniffing my wrist the whole day today. Sillage is great and lasting power as well, so i have no big complaints actually. But of course, the original will be my favorite, i wouldn´t lie about that. As much as i hate to admit it L´oreal have done a nice job with this one as well.
