I was a little worried about this one because sniffing from the sample vial it seemed so medicinal… bitter almond and anise in abundance. Wearing it on my skin however, helped the other notes to come out and play. Lots of powdery heliotrope, sweet vanilla and hints of smoky earthy opoponax. Does not come across like a typical gourmand, as it is not overly foody. More of a beautiful rendition of heliotrope. Sillage stays fairly close to my skin.

This is the prettiest perfume I have ever smelled! I am starting to explore gourmands, and recieved this sample. It is sweet, it starts with a banana-y ylang, but overall this is so much a floral. It’s a rich golden nectar,a sweet herbal tincture, it smells like a ricola cough drop tastes, but not medicinal in any way. I like it so much I just ordered a bottle, after 2 sample wearings. Indian summer-afternoon.

Heliotrope is definitely the star player here. Something about the composition also reads suntan lotiony to me, creamy, almost coconutty. I actually don’t find it that sweet, there is a bitterness to it, indeed kind of like when you accidentally get lotion on your lips and it tastes bitter. I realize now that my description isn’t necessarily the most appealing thing in the world, it’s just different from what I expected. L. T. Piver Heliotrope Blanc comes to mind, and I much prefer the utter subjective loveliness of said perfume. I don’t think Kiss Me Intense conjures intense images of to kiss in imperative, to me it reads like puppy love.

I haven’t tried this but it seems some notes are missing. Here’s the description on lucky scent:
A soft veil for a distinguished and opulent orange flower, ylang absolute, bitter almond and drops of anise which give this fragrance a sensual and smooth vibration. Heliotrope is the most enchanting of perfumes, both intense, sweet and mysterious. It is one of those flowers whose essence cannot be extracted. Like lily of the valley, lilac, violet or gardenia, it retains its perfume jealously and gives it up only to those who go near. And in the right conditions (the time of day, rate of humidity, temperature, stage of flowering, etc), you will discover a scent that takes you from vanilla to aniseed, via almonds and freshly-cut hay: truly an olfactory journey.

Its very yummy and a sweet gourmand fragrance. I dont know where its coming from but I definitely get an unripe banana skin smell. I think its the combination of vanilla, ylang ylang and heliotrope creating this fragrance. Its different to many of my fragrances so I might get fb. The whole fragrance conjures up some exotic paradise island. It would be perfect to wear on a warm romantic evening. I keep thinking I should have an exotic sweetly fragrant flower in my hair. Moderate sillage and longevity.

Missing quite a few notes here… Official notes from the brand:

Firstly, my EDP is Kiss Me Intense – there is no Tender in the name, nor can I find it on the Nicolai Official Site.
Secondly, it reminds me of a memory that I can’t place, which is driving me crazy. I think it is the hay, reminding of summer days riding my bike! I have never smelled Heliotrope, so I can’t recognize it, but I do get a sugar cookie sweetness smell.
No Star Anise for me, but I hope that develops later on.
Great summer fragrance, I think…
Ok tried it again and I am definitely getting the star anise! I think my perfume education has definitely begun!
