Description

Kenzo Amour is gentle, sensual and joyful fragrance, a romantic and aromatic journey to Asia. The perfume starts with soft and attractive aroma of Frangipani blossom which possess a very fine almond-like aroma. The smell of these flowers fascinated one of the two creators of this perfume, Daphne Bugey, during her visit to Indonesia. Of course, the Far East can not be imagined without Japanese cherry blossom.

From Japan we travel to China. The heart features very comfortable and soft aroma of Chinese white tea. The composition continues with thin milky aroma of Thailand rice, and to the gorgeous base which includes woodsy, balsamic, and musky notes, and vanilla. Mysterious incense diffuses on skin in all its nuances: nice wooden note and bitterly ranis interlace with soft and powdery note of Burman Tanaka wood with aroma reminiscent of sandalwood and amber. The composition ends with sweet and soft vanilla, clearly distinguished in the base.

Kenzo Amour was created by Daphne Bugey and Olivier Cresp in 2005.

The bottles design is worth mentioning as well. Three bottles, three colors, the same scent. The 30ml (1 fl.oz.) bottle is in fuchsia color, the 50ml (1.7 fl.oz.) is white and the 100ml (3.4 fl.oz.) bottle is colored orange. As imagined by the designer, those colors are romantic colors of Asia. The colorful Kenzo bird on the outer box symbolizes passionate love and freedom of traveling.

Kenzo Amour was launched in 2006.

This reminds me *very* much of the now-discontinued Shea Cashmere hand cream from BBW.
Amour is a very well-behaved and easily likable vanilla. It has a bit of buttered-marshmallow creaminess to it.

I never thought to try Kenzo until I purchased a set of miniatures on one of those days I needed to buy something new, and nothing else on the shelf caught my eye. I was quite surprised that I liked almost everything in the set, this one in particular. I went ahead and ordered a full bottle the following day. It’s a beautiful fragrance. Not your typical sharp vanilla – more of a light powdery variation. It kind of reminds me of the pretty scented vinyl smell I associate with memories of certain childhood toys.
The only issue is that I can barely smell it… the initial spray, yes, but it quickly settles into a skin scent, and shortly thereafter disappears. I doubt it’s the bottle, which I just purchased from Sephora. I think it’s just a weak perfume. Performs more like an EDT. I wish there were an elixir version of this!

I absolutely love this perfume, the smell is very warm and cozy but doesn’t have great longevity, I barely smell it after using. I can smell coconut even it is not listed up above

This is one of my favorite fragrances. Very cozy and comforting. Warm, but not overly warm. Sweet, but not overly sweet. Sophisticatedly sweet.
I get a lot of coconut (not listed here, I know), vanilla, milk and rice with some beatiful florals, mainly white florals.
I would classify this as an oriental gourmand (instead of an oriental floral).
When I’m wearing this I always receive a lot of compliments, which rarely happens with any other scents I wear. So I guess this a scent that people easily notice and are drawn to.
To me this is mostly, but not solely, an autumn / winter scent. Perfect for the cooler weather. Perfect for cozy nights inside. Just perfect.

This smells exactly like The Different Company Pure Eve! It is airy and creamy/milky with a slight sweetness. Very cozy and comforting.

    The bottle:
It’s unique and comes in different colors depending on what sizes you get. It’s makes me think of a weird genie lamp for some reason. A great bottle to collect.
    Inside the bottle:
Vanilla, Light, Sweet and Youthful. To all vanilla lovers out there this is your perfume!
When sprayed you get vanilla and rice when dried you get the smell of florals and Incense. Longevity is decent I would say at least half the day it will last.
    Overall:
If you a vanilla lover this would be great for you! Great for someone who is starting out wearing perfume or who is sensitive.

Really reminds me of one of my all time favourite cheapies, Christina by Nabeel. I would even argue that one is better. It’s thicker and lasts longer. Kenzo is a little more tart and floral, and Christina is more dolls head powdery. Anyone who loves this should try that.

I love it one of my fave. Feel like its a young scent when i have it on all i want to do i just smell my wrist all the time. Its coconut with a scent of almond very fresh. Would match perfect with a beach scene.

This is the very first perfume I bought for myself and I used to love this scent until a few years ago. Now it just smells like musky baby powder to me. So sad to say but my tastes have moved past this phase of my scent life.
It used to smell like cosmetics and vanilla rice pudding with a touch of musk. Now it’s all musk and linear baby powder. I get no incense nor frangipani.

  12. :

this smelt like playdough on me, sweet doughy playdough with powder I was so disappointed because of all the hype about it being a warm rice pudding scent, I guess my body chemistry wasn’t a good match with this one

I don’t think Hypnotic Poison EDT and this smell similar unless you only focus on the quality of the vanilla. Both have a mildly powdery, rich vanilla. Hypnotic Poison is much more complex and interesting in my opinion.
This perfume is different because it is very soft. I mostly just smell a delicate mildly powdery vanilla (I guess rice pudding?) with a gentle musk. It has a milky quality to it. Nothing much else on my skin. I used up my bottle and won’t be purchasing another. My friend who doesn’t like perfumes loved this because it was so “delicate”.
    Haha! To each their own!

I hoped for rice pudding, but I got high quality baby powder.

I completely get it when some Asian designers describe their perfumes as “polite”.
Amour is gracefully balanced, with a comely, serene poise I can’t get enough of.
There’s a mild powdery throw, but I enjoy it. Which is a feat because I usually dislike powdery scents.
I presume pure sakura and calm encens sort of subdue that powdery start.
Which might be miracle number 2 because I’m extremely fussy with sakura (cherry blossom)!
Frangipani is so exquisite I haven’t found any equivalent so far: yellow and tropical, with thick banana leaves undertones.
Yet, nothing overtly lush, sultry or sensual. Very polite!
Originally, the rice note sparked my curiosity the most, because being of South-East Asian descent, I grew up eating Thai jasmine rice. I’ll never get tired of the delicate fragrance from steamed rice!
Therefore, I wondered which rice variety was used in Amour, since each rice has its very own odor personality: musky jasmine rice? Slightly nutty Japanese rice? Sweet sticky rice? Etc.
To my nose, Kenzo either chose round Italian rice, the one in use for rice desserts, or sushi rice. Some Italian varieties are interchangeable with some Japaneses’, hence, my indecision.
Now, I’ve just read he actually used Thai jasmine rice (my fave!)… But to me, it doesn’t smell like it whatsoever.
Absolutely no pandan note either – both Thai rice and pandan share the same odor compound 2-Acetyl-1-pyrroline that imparts that musky, aromatic, vanillic-undertoned profile I love so much.
Still, this is a dainty, florally rice pudding, in an odd way: the rice smells raw, not cooked. It’s the confectionary vanilla that makes it smell like a dessert!
I particularly love how the delicate woody notes and frangipani light bitterness cut through that sweetness. So, that rice pudding doesn’t make me hungry, but it makes my heart melt.
By the way, It’s been a few weeks I own this perfume, yet, I could smell rice and vanilla today only – perhaps because the weather is sweltering hot now?
It’s such an unique and lovely perfume I’m quite sure I’ll repurchase again.

I will only say this: Amour made me fall in love with vanilla.i used to hate vanilla. This is a remarkable perfume that can be worn by any confident woman. The scent is so sexy ( in an elegant way )and flirty….spray this and the night will be very promising…the strange thing is that I sometimes feel romantic and flirty when I wear Amour and sometimes it comforts me so much, like a good book or a hot cup of coffee.

I’m liking this so much right now! I’m feeling a little under the weather (feminine problems, blegh) and so I decided to soak in the bubble bath for a bit to soothe my cramping tummy. After I got out, I sprayed myself and my pillows with this little number and I’m instantly loving it!!! It was just what I needed. It’s soft and powdery and vanillac and it makes me think of those scented rice plushes you can microwave and give to babies to help them sleep.
I would totally buy a bottle of this to keep by my bedside for these kind of moments… To soothe me like a bottle of warm milk before bed.

Wow, My love for this perfume!
This smells so relaxing, warm & cute.
Im in LOVE with the vanilla in it, its so addictive!
I feel like this is the perfect daily scent. There is also something very nostalgic about this one!
One of my all time favourites!

Am I the only one that finds its opening smells like root-beer in the first 4-5 minutes? 🙂
The “minty” musky/woody dry down actually did consistently relate to C. Dior Hypnotic Poison EDT a lot (I think, mostly due to a strong support of incense). I did not smell anything related to “rice pudding” at all, even though I did smell vanilla at some levels. If that stage ever appeared, it probably was just under a minute, and then it developed further. Too quick for my nose to catch a whiff. As far as I know about “rice pudding” taste and smell, I don’t think it has anything to do with the “root-beer” scent that I detected 🙂 Now think of it again, the “root-beer” vibe may be similar to “licorice”!?!?
Since I planned on getting Hypnotic Poison EDT, but haven’t gotten it yet, I may as well keep this one instead then. Kenzo Amour bottle design is also more “artistic” and uniquely eye catching. And I bought it at a much reasonable price, compared to that H. Poison. However, I don’t think that I will collect more from the Amour line.

Cocooning fragrance, it smells like Rice pudding

This is probably the most natual interpretation of notes ive ever smelled. The vanilla smells like the inside of a real vanilla bean; warm sweet but not sugary and artificial.
Theres a powderyness to it that is just amazing. Its not a soapy powder, its hard to explain really.
I get mainly a hit of sweet floral and powder when first sprayed, then after a while it becomes this toasty warm vanilla with creamed rice. Im pretty sure its the heliotrope that gives it the powder note.
Its soft and completely inoffensive; but thats what makes it so perfect; it can be worn by anyone in any temperature on any occasion.
This is signature material and i might be late to the Kenzo Amour party but i did smell it about 6 years ago on a friend, and have thought about getting it ever since but i felt like it was ” her” fragrance so i didnt, but i finally caved in and got a 100ml bottle, which is fuschia in colour so if it is true that the bigger bottles that aren’t orange or white were indeed reformulated than this is the one i have. But i dont mind; it smells just as i remember it.
Some fragrances have the ability to make u invision certain colours or textures; this makes me think of shades of lilac and grey.
This smell classy and high quality; theres no cheap smelling synthetic or artificial smell to it and i get a good 5 to 6 hours beforr needing to respray.
Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxed, sophisticated signature scent.

I fell in love with this perfume today it is just lovely pleasant and calming. I can clearly distinguish vanilla maybe rice and some flowers it is so well blended that its hard to distinguish what else is in there very clearly but the mixture is just heavenly.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

A beautifully made creamy white floral skinscent.Pretty, inoffensive and perfect for every season or time of the day. This is definitely a safe blind buy. It is a ‘clean smelling’ perfume without being too soapy or green.
Trully beautiful in its subtleness and classy in its simplicity, romantic in a white-aura kind of way and ethereal.Big like bordering on love! 🙂
ps: This perfume reminds me much of Trussardi My Name (without the lilac note which I don’t like much).
ps2: If I were to change sth on Kenzo I think it would be the incense or the musk concetration because it adds a kind of annoying oily alcoholic note that breaks the deal for making this perfume a true love for me. I’m not sure which of these two notes comes out that way or if perhaps it’s the combination of these two.

I acquired this beauty in a swap a few months back. At first try I thought it wasn’t anything special. Was I wrong! I have quite a few fragrances currently, but this is among my top 5 loves ♡. I love the subtly sweet vanilla and rice notes. It is very cozy. We currently have cooler weather here and slowly (!) We are transitioning to spring. This has been one of my favs right before bed, the past few months. This is one I will likely seek out to replace when I finish the bottle. Vanilla lovers should give it a try 🙂

Deep, creamy, luxurious vanilla with a hint of rice and some almonds in the background. Very heavy and warm, powdery and atmospheric; makes me imagine rice fields illuminated by the setting sun. Kenzo’s fragrances are truly one of a kind! I love it, but it’s only suitable for special occasions. It’s definitely a highly alluring, luxurious scent.

Lighter, fresher version of Dior Hypnotic Poison.
Close to the skin scent, personal and inviting. I always want to stuff my nose in my friend’s neck when she wears this.

    LOVE IT!
For me it is creamy, wonderful vanilla scent, and slightly “a little bit” powdery, it’s so comforting, nothing serious here, this fragrance is not that kind that will make you stand out or anything like that, but instead it’s something to wear when you are enjoying your time with family or friends!!
Yes it makes my mouth watery as somebody else has mentioned down below, it is indeed delicious!!

I was loving this perfume at first. I even ordered a second bottle but, i dont know what has changed with my body chemistry and this scent. The silage is leaving me with a similar smell to that of a spray tan. Im not sure why I am having this change all of a sudden possibly the new supplements i am taking. Prior to this odd disagreement with my skin, I had nothing but love for this so i hooe others are not afraid to try this if you like Hypnotic poisons notes. I would say that this is a cooler version of hypnotic poison. I feel like this perfume takes its time to develop because the moments after first spray do not speak its truth. It is very heavy on the powder and then the vanilla starts to show through, its the heliotrope that makes this scent very similar to hypnotic poison although i feel hypnotic poison is much warmer and spicer. Kenzo does not last on me very long but its a calm and cozy scent. I love to wear this before bed on an autum night. change

Well, this was a weird one for me. I could not smell it at all when I first sprayed it. I mean nada. That has only happened once before with a similar frag (Hypnotic Poison), but that story ended well, so I decided I would hope for the best. Lo and behold, the next day, I was able to smell this perfume in all of it’s glory, and I fell in love. The rice pudding note is very strong, and I think it is what makes this perfume so unique. Put together with the warmth and underlying woodiness of this perfume, you get something that is very comforting and a little different than what most people are wearing. I love it, and am now seeking out its various incarnations. I’d love to get the bottle set (white, fuchsia, and orange), so if anyone is holding the white or orange versions, please hit me up for a chat! 🙂
EDIT: I scored the 100 ml orange and the 50 ml white bottles on eBay! Whoo-hoo! Now I have the full set (I have the 50 ml fuchsia and a 30 ml fuchsia). I’m ridiculously pleased. They smell and look great arranged together. Interestingly, my new bottles (the orange and white) smell significantly stronger than the fuchsia bottle I bought brand new. Reformulation? I’m thinking yes.

  31. :

Most of all I feel heliotrope, vanilla and musk in this fragrance.
    Very powdery!

  32. :

    5 out of 5

Opens a little boozy-almond-floral – smells like amaretto. Then warm rice and heliotrope powder. It reminds me of Hypnotic Poison but lighter, less rootbeery, but with the same texture and almond/heliotrope/cherry/powder dominant scent. Smells good, I just feel like there are others in that category that are better. Like ok.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

In my opinion, Kenzo Amour smells very similar to Hypnotic Poison by Dior. The only difference to me, is that Kenzo Amour does not have the nostalgic root beer note. Im happy to have it in my collection.

I really wanted to love this one. One of the most beautiful bottledesigns around.
But that is it – I fell thet the perfume is unbalanced and for me it mostly smells like ricepudding.
I prefer eating it then smelling like it – but your bodychemystry might be different them mine – lycky girl who can pull this off !

  35. :

I really wanted to like this scent but unfortunately I don’t , there is a sour note that I just can’t get past. This was a blind buy for me so I would suggest that you try it before you buy it.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

i bought this one because somebody told me that this reminds her of Hypnotic Poison
    but actually it was true
the warm vanilla is like HP
but the longivity and sillage is not the same
this scent is light and airy
    like some halo around you
    HP is a bomb
and this one doesn’t have all the coconut, milky, almond scent
it’s just vanilla with some steamy sweetness
on the plus side, it is a good bottle design to keep it as a piece of art at home. But that’s just it

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Maybe the perfume in the test bottle had gone bad? I was even afraid to go into a bus a bit, and was worried in a supermarket, if I disgust people! Put it (from that red bottle) first on my wrists. Hmm, what is this… this is WOODY! You know, metal-factory smell / carage. “Maybe this is good… lets put some more, on neck too!” Unpleasant strong smell irritated me the whole shopping-hour (or 2) time. Could be the worst ever.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

Kenzo Amour is such a soft, cozy, beautiful fragrance. I like it since came out in 2005, but I didn’t buy it until last year. At first glance it’s just a vanilla fragrance with a rice pudding note, so while nice, it never seemed quite exciting enough to me. But there’s more to it, and the more I wear it, the more layers I discover.
Vanilla and rice are still the main notes and make it delicious and comforting. But in the beginning there is also a strong cherry blossom note with its fruity floralcy. A very light incense lingers in the background to make it more mysterious. In the drydown the creamy musk is more pronounced and blends nicely with the vanilla and slightly powdery, almondy heliotrope.
I love how this is a soft and tender scent, but still warm and sweet and around all day. It’s not light or fresh, it’s more like a gentle aura around me that makes me feel calm and relaxed.
To me it’s not similar to Hypnotic Poison at all, apart from the vanilla note maybe. Amour is calmer and perfect for work, daytime activities or relaxing, while HP is louder and better for dates or parties.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

The opening is vanilla rice combo. Sweet, soft, nourishing.
After the drydown I get a little bit of cherry blossom and musk.
Warmer, sweet scent. It doesn’t smell fresh to me at all – which is not a bad thing. Just can imagine anyone wearing this in summer…
But totally comforting and peacefull scent. Especially for vanilla lovers.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

I own both concentrations, and I prefer the EDT version (and I mean the original EDT, not the Florale flanker) over the EDP. It has significantly less vanilla, if at all, and there is no play-doh vibe. It smells very angelic. If you like that rice pudding note in the EDP, I’m pretty sure, you would love the EDT even more. Shame, it’s not available anymore.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I find that this smells so much better and more delicious in warm weather. It’s falling flat in the -20 degree weather we’re experiencing today.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

You are definitely anosmic to Amour, since it is long lasting and has good sillage. Try once a month the smallest spray dose you can, with time the anosmia can lift. See which note (s) is giving the anosmia (a reaction when the nose sensors are overwhelmed and blank all the scent) so in the future you can anticipate the same reation to other perfumes that contain same note(s).

@eliteevil It’s absolutely the same for me. After reading the wonderful reviews I bought it but I was completely underwhelmed, I honestly thought I’d been ripped off and had been sold a bottle of water, but I bought from a reputable company so I know that’s not true. I was expecting a gorgeous luxurious hit of vanilla but I was left sniffing my wrist, really hard lol but nothing. I wouldn’t say it’s me because I don’t have a problem smelling other vanilla fragrances, or any fragrance notes for that matter so I’m not sure what’s going on with this 🙁

  44. :

This is a gorgeous thick vanilla but simultaneously incredibly light! I love it, it’s so perfect!

This is my first review on fragrantica and I would rather just lurk than put my opinions out there but my experience of this frag is so far off everybody else’s I feel I have to.
I don’t know if it is a bad sample or old or a bad batch but to me this is completely insipid. The smell of the solvent completely overpowers the opening and by the time it has dried off it smells of absolutely nothing whatsoever?
I really liked Mona Di Orio Dojima though it was a bit too soft for me, but compared to this it is a bomb?
I do kind of get the baby oil note if I spray several squirts onto a sample paper but no rice, no vanilla, no nothing.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

This has a couple things working against it for my taste. I’m sure there’s many others for whom these are good things.
1: Tea — I love a good cup of tea and I keep thinking that that will translate to liking tea in a fragrance, and I keep being wrong. Tea in perfume is just a little soapy to my nose and too close to lily of the valley or some of the cheaper atmospheric scents
2: Even blending — I like scents where it is fairly easy to pick out the different notes. This isn’t it. The vanilla and frangpani and incense blend together to create a smooth creamy floral. It’s really hard to do this in a way that I enjoy and this isn’t quite it.
3: Baby oil — It’s not a straight up baby oil scent, but it is clearly similar and occasionally a little medicinal.
The sad part is that every so often I get that rice pudding smell everyone is talking about. This has quite possibly the best rice note ever in it and I wish it was focused on a bit more.
The drydown reminds me of the intro to Jasmine Brown Sugar. I’m thinking there must be some jasmine in this and it blends with the vanilla beautifully.

  47. :

    Yum! Yum! Yum!
The words that come to mind when I smell this fragrance are: creamy, warm and very smooth. This smells like vanilla rice pudding, that’s cooking on an open firewood in a frangipani garden. It’s one of those scents where you can’t help but sigh deeply when you inhale it. Like a few reviews mentioned, it does remind me of a more gourmand Dior Addict.
    I love Amour 🙂

  48. :

    4 out of 5

To me this perfume is all about frangipani – that`s what I find striking first and that`s what remains striking til the end: could be just my nose, but all the other notes stay behind..I get heliotrope and vanilla, and maybe a bit of incense too, but the frangipani steals the show. A comforting scent you want to sniff on yourself all day, probably best worn around autumn and winter, or spring, would be heavy for summer..

  49. :

I first purchased a sample, because I was looking for a dupe of Trussardi inside and someone suggested this fragrance as a similar option. It’s kind of close, but i guess the only resemblance is the matching category. They have almost nothing in common. Anyway, I love the fragrance, it’s not heavy or old lady-like, milky sweet, comfy and totally something I would wear in any occasion. Enjoying the bottle, enjoying it as a whole. My only wish is, that it could last a little longer.

  50. :

    4 out of 5

Kenzo Amour is a soft floral woody perfume… but the strongest note when you spray is a huge hit of vanilla. I like the smell, it’s different from the usual florals. It’s not sharp, it’s unusual and smooth…but it doesn’t last long on me. The projection is also poor on my skin even though this is an EDP.

  51. :

I love this fragrance! I came home to find it in my mail box. YAY! Its a wonderful sweet powdery scent. Its woody and floral but not screechy floral, thank goodness! I’m very surprised how great it is. I typically don’t care much for Kenzo perfumes they are usually too floral but this one is balanced very nicely. Its a warm gourmand in my opinion. Someone said it feels a bit melancholy and I agree it definitely has that “feel” about it. Lovely for Fall/Winter as it is a bit deeper. This was a blind buy and it is a great one!

  52. :

I considered this my signature scent for several years. It is beauty and serenity in a bottle.
Cosy like your favourite cashmere jumper. Sweet like the purest vanilla there is. Spiritual like an old temple filled with incense resounding with the melody of prayers. Free like an immense tropical forest home to the most colourful birds you’ve ever seen. Exotic and enchanting like rice fields in the sunset.

  53. :

    3 out of 5

This one smells to me like….baby wipes or Johnson’s Baby Powder….or even…that vibe of a “doll”.
It does not resemble Dior Hyonotic Poison at all…to my nose. Not a “bad” scent, but just not my cup of tea.
I will say…it is somehow a calming scent…one to wear before going to sleep.

  54. :

Blind bought this frag and it’s a pleasant surprise. It opens like Hypnotic poison and ends like Gap Close. Both are good perfumes and this is their baby. It’s very nice and I don’t regret the purchase. But…I was hoping to really smell more rice in this. If you’re familiar with the parents of this baby, then you’ll love this.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

I loved this after testing it and bought myself a fb. But i don’t know if it’s the concentration of a single spray vs a spray from a tester vial, a bad bottle (though bought from a reputable source) or residue from a previous perfume that doesn’t mix, but the opening notes smell a bit shrieky like gasoline (which i strangely do like the smell of, just not on me) and though i have read reviews of people referencing playdoh, i don’t get that, just gasoline. I didn’t get this the first time around, so i’ll wait another couple days and test again.

I’m having major vanilla cravings as the weather gets cooler, and this is a vanilla bomb in the cosiest way possible.
Vanilla is married with frangipani to give a lovely, creamy, sweet almond aroma that evolves in to white tea in the dry down and a gentle incense in the last stages.
Moderate sillage, excellent longevity. Smells great on clothes, but truly comes in to its own on the warmest parts of the skin. Nape of the neck and décolletage tonight and I feel heavenly…
EDIT: This beauty is 100% my autumn/winter evening fragrance this year. It has similar warming, feel-good properties to Dior Addict for me, but here the the tonka depth and sexy spice are replaced by a deep, comforting, rice-pudding creaminess. I spray Amour on my wrists and nightwear and it totally soothes me and aids a peaceful sleep. Dreamy.

I don’t get any notes distinctively other than the woody base note. It has the vibe of classic scents such as Chanel No 5. The top and heart somehow reminds me of Adam Levine for women. I feel like Adam Levine would be a good affordable substitute. The dry down is an aromatic vanilla, reminiscent of Atelier Cologne’s vanille insensee. It’s thick but not too wild. I think it’s suitable for daytime in the fall and winter.

I think this baby has been in my collection at least seven years, about five of those years forgotten in the back shadows. I often see it pop-up here and there in the forums, mostly recommended as a soft, cozy vanilla-rice pudding. for some reason I thought about amour today and decided to wear it again and well, it definitely is cozy and it is so, sooo beautiful! however! I had to doublecheck and even triplecheck the notes because I almost missed it among the rest in the description, but then I saw it: INCENSE! ranked far behind but yes incense just so happens to be the most outstanding note on my skin, and it is HEAVY. I think I love it even more because of that. <3

I got it and I am very glad I did. It is warm, it is cosy, it is for cooler days and for woollen jumpers. The vanilla type is like the yummy vanilla pudding, so comforting and tasty. Not sickly, not blah. Probably the nicest vanilla scent I’ve ever tried.

Well, discovered this beauty lately and I am into it. When it comes to perfumes, I am quite picky, but this one was love at the first sniff. Rice and vanilla will give you a very unique, subtle and discrete feminine scent (LOVE IT!). You get a sweet vanilla but NOT cloying like in most vanilla perfumes. It is close to the skin and, to be honest, I tried a few from this family, and it’s the best. I tried “Le Parfum” hoping to get a better sillage and longevity, yes I got them but “Le Parfum” is VERY strong and bezoin/patchouli are too much for me (and far away from the original Kenzo Amour!). “Indian Holi” is greener and less sweet… mehhhh. “L’Eau de Kenzo Amour” does not suit me because of the Ylang ylang… The original one is the BEST, in my opinion 🙂

    Baby oil and then milky
I have a one-time contact with this beautiful juice. Baby oil at the beginning of 5 … 7 minutes, then fades to my skin, near-skin scent.
The olive there is significantly incense, then fangipani flower and rice make a nice combination, it is also a calming milk note.
Although it is a flower/wood category I would give an oriental category.
Vanilla in the background … Musk is not special, does not stand out on the background to feel it.
However, after 2 hours it is so milky, that i say no, not my climate, not my type of scent.

A lovely almond scent, appealing straight away and then seems to fade a little. However a warm day or a bit of exertion, basically a rise in temperature, and it comes back in a beautiful vanillic cloud. Very comforting, soft, pleasing, almost foody. Good longevity in a warm situation. Compliments, too. Excellent value!

Sampling Amour made me realize how much broader my tastes have become since I developed a real interest in perfumes a few years ago. This is one of the few perfume releases I remember from before that, because back then I liked the ad and the bottle design so much that I went to the store to test it, and was disappointed that I couldn’t get it because I disliked the scent itself. Fast forward twelve years and here I am, older and wiser (or at least more open-minded, at least when it comes to perfume), and unable to remember why I ever disliked this lovely fragrance.
It’s true that the opening is just a little sharp, but it soon settles into a fluffy cloud of vanilla, rice powder and soft florals that is very nice indeed. It’s cozy and comforting in quite a restrained way, not too sweet or too strong or too much of anything: a perfect office scent for the colder days. What’s not to like?

I got this perfume a year ago, and liked it well enough, even though I thought it was so similar to Hypnotic Poison to the point of being almost indistinguishable from each other…
Boy, was I ever wrong, Kenzo Amour is one on its own. I went off it because I wore it during the winter, like I did Dior’s HP, stupidly assuming that it was a heavy, vanilla oriental that could only be worn in colder months. It turns out that this is a full-on SUMMER scent, and let me tell you, that fact blew my mind clean out my head…
Yesterday was 27c and sunny, and hot in the car. I thought it was time I ‘used up’ Kenzo, as whenever I had worn it in the winter, this weird, plastic, cheap smell would emerge, like a turned bottle of Britney Spear’s Fantasy, or something. But in the heat, this perfume blooms. I was literally weeping in the hot car it was that beautiful and I couldn’t believe I had pretty much written off this perfume.
Of course, as soon as I got home I read up on the notes in Kenzo, and Frangipani was
