Mine is actually by Evyan. I got it from Vermont Country Store. The claim is that it’s true to the original. It’s a rich, golden floral. Heady. Mature. Wonderful.

Jungle Gardenia Tropical Jungle Perfume
Notes banana, coconut, peach, gardenia, white flowers, woods and musk
My mother used to wear the old original Jungle Gardenia by Tuvache. It was a white floral very strong fragrance that was somewhat like Giorgio Beverly Hills. She loved very fragrant white floral scents. I remember smelling it on her in the 80’s when she hugged me. This perfume is nothing like Old Jungle Gardenia. This is a tropical sweet scent that I enjoy very much. It evokes the Caribbean islands, the Cayman islands, Florida and the Bahamas. This is a vacation perfume, tropical island perfume and a beach scent. Wear this to the beach. I wish they had a matching sun tan lotion and body lotion. This is a fruity perfume of coconut, peach and banana. I was very curious about that banana and wondered if I could smell it. I bought this blindly and took a deep breath and inhaled deeply. It’s in there. Banana! I don’t know how they did that. They make magic in those perfume labs. This is sweet, fruity, milky, watery, and floral. The gardenia is very much the big player here. It’s a vanilla-scented gardenia. It’s very edible. There could be vanilla in this fragrance. There is some light touches of musk and woods. It’s really nice but it has a short life so you gotta re apply and keep spritzing it on yourself. I wear this on cruises. I work as an entertainer on cruises and have received very sincere compliments on this fragrance. If you have ever tried out banana and coconut themed perfumes this is for you. It also wears like one of the Victoria Secret perfumes (like Coconut Passion I think it’s called). It’s also more of a body mist body spray.

a total dislike for me also. it’s too sweet, strong and cloying. very much a migraine headache inducer that can also lead to vomiting. it may sound dramatic, but for me it really isn’t. my dear departed mother wore this sometimes and i really couldn’t be around her. she finally stopped wearing it, thankfully. too much straight-up gardenia is a big NO for me.

Back in the 70’s when I was a kid I remember a bottle of Jungle Gardenia on the bathroom shelf for as long as I could remember. The smell was horrid so it was used as a decoration. When ever there was a bad smell of any kind around my mom and I would look at each other and say “Jungle Gardenia!” Maybe they have changed the formula by now and all I can say is that I hope so.
