Description
In 2016, Dior brings back its iconic fragrance Jules to the European market (namely Russia), the second masculine perfume of this house. Jules, whose name comes from the French slang for seducer / lover, was developed by perfumer Jean Martel in 1980, more than 10 years after the first masculine fragrance Eau Sauvage. The advertising campaign involved the illustrations from artist Rene Gruau, and one of the slogans read as “Strong and gentle”.
The composition of the 2016 release offers green top notes of Iranian galbanum mixed with herbs. Indian black pepper, the best example of its kind, forms the intensive heart of the perfume, together with floral accents of cyclamen and hedione. Refined and noble American cedar oil and leather round the composition in the base.
The fragrance is available as a 100 ml Eau de Toilette at a price of around 70 Euros.

I have always wanted this…..I must get some!
RW_PlushkiN – :
Dior rarely gets things wrong, Jules is very dated today. But it’s a good masculine.
I own a small sample. It isn’t my favorite but likeable. It smells like mens cologne did 1975-1985.
Heavy florals, spicy, thick wood, leather. Everything in excess so to create a heavy perfume that isn’t seen in modern frags.
naise – :
That bottle is completely uninspired. WTH Dior, you are a fashion house, not a discount store!
Ethipsehimi – :
This is great stuff! I would have called it “Dior’s answer to Kouros”, but apparently the original Jules came one year before Kouros. It must have been ground-breaking back then. There is also a strong link to Aramis, as far as I can smell. This 2016 “remake” is quite good. Makes me wonder how great the original should be.

I’m a little confused by the fact that galbanum was voted as one of the least obvious notes in the entire fragrance – this is perplexing, as it is one of the most obvious. Having owned many, many galbanum fragrances, this scent is a striking representation of this aroma mixed with pine
Smells a little like the feminine Chamade by Guerlain, just piney (don’t get ya knickers in a twist, guys, Chamade Femme isn’t feminine by today’s standards)

I don’t know of any Dior fragrance which turn out to be an absolute stinker. I’m glad that Dior decided to bring back a throw back from the retro days. Whether the notes are the same or not, from what I understand from most who did use the orginal verison…Dior came danm close.
Now about this fragrance
I finally acquired this fragrance and I wore it all day and enjoy the aroma. At first I certainly smell fir fir and more fir. To go further….has anyone picked off the new soft needles, sniffed it and almost smell a yucky bitter aroma? I don’t know if it’s my nose meter or not? I tell what it means to me…Dior was able to mimic the same aroma of those needles and that’s amazing and not yucky cause I have smelled a lot worse unwelcomed aroma after I sprayed it on my skin.
There’s also a soft floral blend with subtle herbal green notes as well.
Longevity and Silage is excellent lasting well past 8hrs
I don’t know why but I don’t smell much leather, I don’t know if it’s my body chemistry? There’s a smig of pepper, just a smig.
I’m not a grandpa yet so I don’t see this being out of date…maybe in 60 year’s yes?
I enjoy the aroma of green/floral blend of notes as well a slightly soapy barbershop vib from herbal blend…in all it’s going to be another one of those fragrance for occasion that makes me feel good. 10/10

I remember when I wore the original Jules in the brown bottle back in the 90’s man… that was a nice fragrance, I always got complemented when I wore it and I loved it so much that I was sad when I ran out of it and I could not find it anymore. I am wearing this new version today for the first time, and I can tell it somehow resembles the original, but in my mind they are not the same, I remember some sweetness in the original Jules that I don’t find in this one. I do remember a somewhat loud opening and I think they both share that, buy maybe because I’m older now I think this is a more mature fragrance, and the original Jules I felt it had a more juvenile vibe, but well I guess we both have aged.
I get the soapy note in this one more, but over all very masculine.
At the end this version just got to my likes, as the original Jules remains in my loved ones, at least the memory of it.,
bhoomin – :
Honestly I didn’t like it at all, actually to me it’s old fashioned and very unpleasant harsh fragrance, so don’t blind buy . I’m glad that I just bought couple of samples and i used them as toilet air freshener!!

I enjoy that say :I love Dior fragrances.

Wearable for four season with very good longevity and sillage.

This is such an impressive perfume. So sophisticated, relaxed yet bold at the same time. The tagline, “soft and gentle” is absolutely correct. The quality is definitely top notch and performance is great too. Long lasting with a gentle sillage. One of the things I like though is that I occasionally get a waft of Jules and it such a beautiful presence throughout the life. Furthermore, the top notes are sheer heaven with a magnificent basil note. I do see how this would be classified as a fougere, but for me I get more of a leather chypre in the vain of Miss Balmain. Thank you so much Dior!

@ shalimaraddict, what kind of comment is that? This is not a forum. This is for you to post a review of the fragrance, not to ask a question. Delete it at once and go post it at the forums!

Dior Jules…
This classic 80’s fragrance opens up with sour, herbal green notes and pine and with some slight soapiness. It eventually mellows out into what I can only describe as a bunch of old leather books in the middle of a forest. Imagine Hermes Bel Ami but ditch the spiciness of it and keep the beautiful old dusty leather and inject it with green pine, and earthy herbal notes. This gives you an idea of what Jules smells like. A lot of people say it’s animalic but I detect no civet or castoreoum in this formulation.
I highly recommend this fragrance to anyone looking for a beautiful leather fragrance with a classic feel and forest like vibe, I’m loving this one!! Very easy to wear!
Scent – 10/10
Sillage/Projection 10/10 – I thought it was weak at first but it preforms perfectly! I suggest only 3 sprays with this one, less in the Summer.
Longevity – 10/10 12 hours easily, no lie.
Versatility 9/10 I feel comfortable wearing this any time but Summer.

I had been fantasizing about this perfume for years so when it came back I rushed to get a bottle.
This is indeed an old school scent. I think it probably was out of fashion soon after it was launched. Strangely enough in the early 90’s I cannot remember seing it in shops around here. It’s strong. I would put it in the same league as the original Givenchy gentleman. I find it also very similar to Kouros although they seem to have a totally different composition.
There’s no denying there’s a certain elegance and virility to this. I cannot chase from my mind this vision of a middle aged company director in Paris in the late 70’s wearing this. With sideburns and a brown wool blazer. It’s certainly not for the younger crowds.

Extremely brave from Dior to bring this back! Top class from start to finish! Everything about it is perfect!! Smell, image, bottle, performance! Best release of the decade!
Globetrotter – :
A beautiful masculine classic scent.
yba325speagoessenda – :
Well, the only thing I wanna say is that is absolutely brilliant job!
Very, very close to vintage one(guess 90-95%).
The difference is that it performs a bit fresher, younger. It is the same face after well done plastic surgery.
Longevity and sillage are absolutely brilliant.
Acts not like immitation in frames of bloody IFRA.
Great job Dior, thank you.

Jules has found a new home. Gone.

Anyone in the uk interested in a 100ml unopened bottle? I ordered Dune and they sent Jules. Inbox me. September 2016
alurlblarma – :
This fragrance is not weak, is not dying and all that…due to the restrictions Dior has surely had to change or adjust things compared to the original but surely this is one of the very best designer releases of this year. Jules is magical, sophisticated, just pure leathery, flowery, green perfection! Sillage and projection are both very good and longevity is excellent. A few sprays beneath your shirt will have this fragrance live with you throughout the entire day, 24 hours and on the clothing even beyond. Five golden stars and bravo Dior!!!!
KatyLodernfreefly – :
Without real oakmoss, it’s only Jules by name. Oakmoss is the most prominent note in the original, next to the leather.
smutoutleriesog – :
I so f***ing want it! Is it going to be released in the Americas as well?
Christian Dior Jules led me to an almost sick fascination in 2010, which made me buy two miniatures of the first formula three years later; such fascination was gone for a while, but now that I know it’s been relaunched, I will try to get a bottle as soon as I can…it will be my Christmas gift in advance!
Jules is a great fragrance–in the same vein as Kouros, but it contains many different notes that make them distinguishable (for example, Jules has lavender and basil, whereas Kouros does not). Think of Jules as something like 70% Kouros + 30% Halston Z-14; therefore, it is less versatile than Kouros, although the former was created one year before the latter. Both are heavyweights among the 80s aromatic fougères, which marked a milestone in the history of men’s fragrances.
I hope to have my hands on this olfactory icon soon–I’ve never seen it in my country, and I also hope that its distribution is not limited exclusively to Europe, as it’s apparently going to be, at least at first hand. Greetings.

I do not understand the weakness of the face Perfume houses for IFRA !!! … this perfume is dying!!!!
karvekt – :
I bought this because I used to wear the old formula.. The new juice is A 90% match to the original … the missing oak moss is to balm for the difference ….. its Just A bit lighter than the original.. not as overpowering…I love this scent so much..it brings back some great memories…In my opinion, Dior did an outstanding job with this new formula…..think of it as A son who has now come of age in the modern era….with all of the Elegance of father but still a bit immature..
Outstanding, A must Buy for all
10/10
TendChenTer – :
Never smelt the original version but honestly, this version in this bottle is quite stunning, IMO. I would put it on par with YSL’s Kouros in regards.
career – :
thanks SirMasterpiece,
I had the original, the one in a diffrent bottle circa 2000 and a few years ago this bottle. The last one is way to animalistic so I hope this one is better..
kind regards

You own the second formulation of original Jules. Look up on youtube at Chris from ScentLand reviewing your bottle! 🙂
This NEW may be after IFRA restrictions and s**t. We really don’t know yet.
@PablOSO
you are right man! My hopes are burried for sure untill I’ll smell it.
