I love simple, not too complex fragrances; if skin chemistry allows, our own personality helps to create or improve their complexity.
I am surprised to still love this fragrance that was, among my scents, the most beautiful and simple I’ve ever had.
I would gladly welcome it again.

The opening of Pure is just that…pure, clean and refreshing. I can’t stop sniffing my wrist at this point. After an hour or so it actually seems to get stronger as the woodier notes emerge and I don’t like this phase that much. Eventually it becomes softer, muskier and cleaner, which I enjoy. This musky phase remains to the end. Overall, the name is very appropriate and if you’re looking for a clean soft perfume, be sure to try this one out.

Pure is kind of a 90’s afterglow scent, like CK One but without fruits and greens, done in an early 00’s aesthetic, modernist and minimalist.
Floral woody musk indeed, yet really quite nondescript, lacking any prominent features.
Pure is not a character by itself, it’s there just for the sake of plot device.
Warm, fresh and semi-transparent musk without any trails of sweetness, fruits, spices but with some flowery, woodsy background. Muted would be a good word to describe it.
The scent reminds me of paper. It is pleasant as an easy day at the office. It lasts well but does not project that much.

The best Jil Sander for me. I love this scent! Just the opposite of the sickly sweet #4, which I cannot tolerate. This one is sexy, sophisticated, and I feel slightly dangerous wearing it!
As for the dirty/acrid comments, perhaps your bottle has gone bad. In an effort to stock up, I purchased many, only to find several had turned and were not at all the same scent or usable. If anyone know hows to correct this, please let me know. I haven’t found the will to part with them yet.

love this. truly pure, ambery. I dont get any marine /fresh or too much of flowery notes, but a fresh, clean, warm but not coyingly sweet amber and some musk. awesome for pure days!

Word “pure” in perfume’s name is always a trigger for me to buy. I always pick a 30ml bottle in duty free on airport, it is always on sale! I use it as a everyday perfume, has good chemistry with my skin, very “pure” with a musky pinch, I simply like it and I’m quite fond of Jil Sander. The silage and longevity is moderate, not 100% love, but like it as much to have always in stock one small bottle,

I can relate to vertigo here… I am generally a HUGE fan of Jil Sander scents (style, jil, sun are my fav ones not only by her but amongst all perfumes) but this one really makes me physically sick to my stomach. I used to be carsick as a kid and it was always triggered by the freshly washed morning scents of my family mixed up with all the odors a running cars engine produces. I sprayed “pure” on my wrist and it was a hard work for me not to wash it off immediately. After 5 (!) hours the scent “calmed down” enough to become bearable, even likable but that doesn’t worth it for me.

This is the perfume equivalent of water, extremely light, soft, gentle, harmless, could be used for meditation.
It is very clean, barely there, and environmentally friendly.

Pure and clean but a no no for me. Nothing special, musky on my skin with time. Never again.

i am not crazy about this scentwise (though it’s quite nice) but i am thankful to have it for its therapeutic properties sometimes. it calms and clears the mind. great help for hangovers and shitty-office days and when i wanna focuss.
gonna gift it to a friend when she moves to a different country soon, as she liked it very much although she used to hate perfumes -maybe a good choice for the fragrance haters or newbies;)

Absolutely fantastic fragrance…literally pure, clean, fresh and soft smell, it is the only fragrance i have been able to find in years that actually doesn’t smell overpowering and strong, its one of a kind and spectacular..i get compliments everyday!!:))) at least on my 5th bottle.

Yes I agree with clean scent; I quite like it.
Slightly floral, opens up on the artificial side but fades into a tinge of aromatics…
Men could wear this one too since its on the subtle side.

Nice, plain, clean, fresh scent. Has got nothing to do with Narciso Rodriguez Essence though… Here in the Netherlands it is still sold but in the store they told me they hadn’t much left.

Perfect! Pity, isn’t sold in Lithuania any more.

Smell’s like watered down jasmine scented coconut oil very light and soapy not for my taste longevity and projection are also weak.

Pointless like fresh air. Utterly weightless. You feel just clean and light. It’s one of my favorites.

I find it so strange that most people find this fragrance sharp or linear or think that it smells like detergent. To me, it is the perfect fragrance, and I’m not even into light ones usually. I find it PURE, pleasant, I believe it can’t give a headache to anyone (hopefully). I wear it year round, sometimes 24 hrs a day, but it’s perfect for day, spring and summer.

I have a bottle of Pure Intense ( eau de perfume) which I use very sparingly as I don’t think it is available any more. It is gorgeous and wish it would be relaunched. I bought a bottle of the Pure eau de toilette but the fragrance does not last as long.It is rather expensive for what it is PLEASE BRING BACK PURE INTENSE!!

This to me is a summer scent when you don’t want to wear anything loud or noticeable. It’s soapy and clean with no citruses but has a sort of tanginess to it. It’s not that bad but just an ordinary one.

This scent sprays on shockingly dirty & impure, making this nose’s owner thoroughly sick as a consequence. No sign of any sweetness or citrus notes here. What on earth was the company thinking of when they released this? No offence meant to anyone who likes or already has it, but I can’t imagine that anybody would willingly want to smell like this. Things improve significantly after half an hour or so as the scent deliberately softens and cleans up its act so to speak, to smell of a light powdery musk, but quite frankly I still couldn’t get that wretched opening out of my mind. On the redeeming side though, the modern glassy bottle design is highly appealing like many of Jil Sander’s scents, and this has highly impressive longevity (8 hours easy).

Pointless like fresh air. Utterly weightless. Perfect if you don’t really like perfume or want to smell like you’re wearing any.
Addendum: This was actually a god send when I was pregnant and my sense of smell changed. It was clean fresh and lovely and I continue to wear it after my son was born as it seemed suitable to wear around a baby. I was sorry when I finished the bottle.

Just got it. Kinda a mixed sexual scent, which is good. I would not comment it as a unique one, while just right in every bit for everyday use.

I love the word ‘pure’ as to me it brings connotations like innocence, angels, fluffy clean white linen, cotton clouds.
so how did this one perform?
It is far too sharp to be pure. When something is pure – at least to me – it should be comforting, which feeling this fragrance could not deliver.
While sniffing at my wrist, words like ‘detergent’ and ‘soap’ sprung into my mind. Not even the mild ones, more like those extra strong cleansers you would wash your outdoor outfits to get rid of mud and grass…
And then the other word for this fragrance would be ‘puritan’.
I can imagine puritans wearing this to keep their thoughts away from the constant intrusion of earthy pleasures.

One of my all time favorites; clean, light, pure, modern, elegant…i got many compliments wearing it.

Jil Sander is one of my all time favorite fragrances..unlike tens of different fragrances I can never get tired of this one. Not heavy, not floral, and hello not too vanilla
I belive I like its “watery” part the most..if it makes sense..It is refreshing and appropriate for most ages and seasons, in my opinion..
Hard to find in the stores, though.

    just bought it…
It has nothing special at all. It is very, very clean smell, the kind i like – makes you feel like you just took a shower. It is wonderful kind of smell for “summer office”.
I work on a crowded place so I don t want my work perfume to slap everyone to face…
Ideal for this purpose and very likable.

I like the smell-fresh, clean smooth, sportive but don’t feel confident in it.

Jill Sander’s PURE is fresh, clean, and linear. The musk is not very musky, and while living up to its name, there is no soapiness here at all. PURE has an almost zenlike neutrality and inoffensiveness that may appeal to those seeking a fragrance that is unflowery, unspicy, and unsweet; something very clean but altogether devoid of aldehydes.
I am reminded vaguely of Calvin Klein’s TRUTH, which has its own unique identity and imparts an equal sense of calm control, even equanimity. The main difference to my nose is that in PURE a limpid musk replaces the equally limpid bamboo so central to TRUTH.
Some may find such fragrances clean in a sterile, synthetic sort of way–like a well-maintained glass and chrome skyscraper. But I like them on certain days. They remind me a bit of man-made snow.
