Strange, I aquiered a rather large decant if this… I smell no Angel or sweetness in it, surely not the slightest resemblance .
It’s a big , old , heavy floral chypre kind of scent…. Smells a bit dated to me, womanly, heavy in the 80s style….elegant and serious, mature, too much for me, the vintage vibe turns me off. But I can see it shining on a career oriented middle age lady… It’s a serious scent, I was expecting sparkles from something called Jewel… Not similar but creating the same impression as Chanel no.5 or some other classic . Not me at all. The first Micallef I can’t wear .

Quite nice musky patchouli scent, elegant enough. No wow-effect though. I won’t go chasing after a big bottle.
This is a strong perfume, little amount goes a long way. Longivety on my skin – 12 hours at least!

Again I find myself surprised to confront a post-Angel sweet patchouli coming out of the house of M. Micallef at this late date. My first surprise was that MON PARFUM reminded me of a tamer version of ANGEL or a much less floral NUITS DE NOHO. Upon donning JEWEL, I could not believe that I was smelling something similar once again.
It must just be the luck of the draw that the first two MICALLEF perfumes from the new series which I chose to test both feature orange blossom, patchouli, vanilla, and musk in higher concentrations than any of the other notes said to distinguish the two. There is no fruit listed in JEWEL, as there is in MON PARFUM, but the sweet patchouli here may as well be a fruitchouli. This one really does remind me of Molinard NIRMALA!
So far, I am unimpressed by this house’s rebranding of itself as a purveyor of haute niche perfume. I realize that they reinvented themselves (and the prices of the perfumes went up accordingly), but I am not convinced yet that these new perfumes are better than the less ambitious Micallef offerings produced some years back (and now discontinued).
    Onward…
