Description
It is the era of Harcourt Studios when Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich magnetised men with a Hollywood look in the eye, smoking a cigarette in a smoky black and white ambiance. Jasmin et Cigarette is also the slightly jasminy smell of a woman’s skin when she exposes her freshness to the dark seduction of night. A hazy atmosphere. The reminder of a fantasy, of an indelible trail she leaves on a dress at the break of day or in the intimate memory of the man who made love to her. It is elegance seen by Gainsbourg, the woman from the 80’s who smokes Gitane cigarettes and wears jeans and who, with astounding naturalness, claims her sensuality as a right. Transparency in sophistication, just a trace of jasmine mingled to the so far neglected smell of a cigarette. Jasmin et Cigarette is the twilight zone, the banned, addiction. Nicotine woman or heroine, she is an icon, the woman one longs for.
Composition: Jasmine asbolute, tobacco notes, apricot, tonka beans, curcuma, cedar, amber, musc…
Nose for this perfume is Antoine Maisondieu. Jasmin et Cigarette was launched in 2006.
BUGSTAS – :
I WANT to love this! The concept appeals to me and reminds me of the young woman I was – or at least thought I was and wanted to be. The impression I get from this perfume is “barnyard”. That sounds dreadful and really it’s not that bad, but I most definitely catch a whiff of hay and light manure when I put my wrist to my nose! Could be the hay note combined with the jasmine’s indoles. Truly like a “roll in the hay”, sort of naughty, a bit skanky, and definitely animalistic. In all fairness I am sampling this from a dabber sent by Luckyscent, and this may fare better as a spray so it has an opportunity to open up. It is definitely unique, and I imagine that there are many others who will love it. I think I may grow to like it, but it will never be a love and for the price (not horrific for niche perfumery but not inexpensive either), I definitely need to love it. It is definitely worth a sniff though, but proceed with caution as a blind buy.

Jasmin et Cigarette is another interesting offering by the house of Etat Libre d’Orange. The jasmine here is not loud and lush, but is instead on the verge of fruity/sour. The background smokiness is that of an ashtray, rather than actual tobacco. However, the impression the perfume creates is that of a leather jacket and something pink, but muted and blurred. There is also something slightly cold, which further adds to the distinctive character of the fragrance. Jasmin et Cigarette is without a doubt one of the most wearable fragrances from Etat Libre d’Orange, but it also has its edge – a must try even for non-smokers!
ilya2211 – :
This was my favorite sample in the Etat Libre D’Orange discovery set. It was the only one in the set that had a broken top and was missing 3/4 of the juice (grrrrrr). Still, there was enough left for me to get a couple of wearings on my skin. What a fabulous fragrance. It really does bring to mind old school Hollywood regency opulence. I am glad they didn’t go overboard and add aldehydes to this, as that would be overkill. I purchased a full bottle. I would recommend that folks sample this perfume before buying a full bottle. The two stars of the show, Jasmine and tobacco can be problematic for some folks. First, Jasmine is one of the white flowers that contain “indoles”, which some people have a hard time with as it can register as a poop or garbage or urine smell with some noses. Also, tobacco can be difficult for some people as well with some reacting negatively to a “dirty ashtray” smell. To my nose, Jasmin et Cigarette is divine, and smells like an expensive jasmine absolute paired with a delicious, golden unsmoked tobacco accord. This is not a “smokey” or “incensey” fragrance at all. It is a brilliant white floral scent with an added rich, blonde tobacco leaf essence. Sillage and longevity are just moderate.
fredperi – :
Clean, sweet, fresh tobacco and rich, slightly dirty jasmine make a gorgeous combination in this simple, unique, and surprisingly very-wearable fragrance. My experience with a sample prompted the immediate purchase of a full bottle.
So far though, it’s a definite LOVE for this unique, refreshing creation.
After a full day’s wear, I find the opening my favorite part, the dry-down very pretty but drier than the opening yet she remains quite lovely. I had to reapply after about 4 hours, but don’t know whether that’s due to my own personal anosmia as the one wearing the fragrance or if it’s a case of the scent actually fading (though I believe it’s more likely the former). On my better half, this fragrance has a gorgeous, living depth that makes me want to nuzzle into the warmth and hay-like softness.
ETA: I, too, am a former smoker (quit for almost two years) but this might have an effect on my overall perception of Etat Libre d’Orange’s Jasmin et Cigarette on the side of favorable. I think it’s unique and beautiful.
This is Marlene Dietrich in a bottle.
And my better half immediately relieved me of her! =D
amin – :
First off, this is in my top 5 favorites. I can’t break down every note, but all I pick up is Jasmine and Tobacco. I’d like to note that this is not a smoked cigarette, but a sweet tobacco scent. I was a smoker for many years, and Jasmine is one of my favorite notes, so this feels very comfortable for me.
I will agree with others that said the jasmine in this is skanky, which I like. Is that considered “indolic”? I don’t really know, but I love it either way. When asked, my fiance did mention something about “poo” (his words) LOL. That broke my heart a little bit, but it won’t stop me from wearing this. I think it’s a beauty, and I wear fragrances for my enjoyment, first and foremost.
I wish the longevity was more powerful. After 5 hours I can barely smell it up close.
vladik_2191 – :
I bought a decant of this hoping I’d love it. At first I get strong cigarettes/ashtray smell with fruit. The jasmin is very light on me throughout. At first the scent of cigarettes and ashtray with fruit was nauseating.
I went for a walk and the sillage was sweet and very nice but if I put my arm up to my nose I still did not like it! I think I’ll keep the decant because once it dries down it’s nice and the cigarette smell smells more blended and fades a little bit.
I was hoping I’d love this like Atelier’s Cafe Tuberose since it’s in the same vein but I do love that one.
Vitalik1978 – :
This is sweet pipe tobacco, not tarry cigarette. There’s a slight hint of dirtiness, but the base note is a sweet, pleasant one. I was expecting to hate this fragrance based on the name, but it is not unpleasant. Etat Libre doesn’t deliver a traditional perfume smell, but rather compositions based around unique ideas. Decent sillage prior to drydown. Lasted around 3 hours on my skin.

The cigarette is unlit. The Jasmine are in bloom. Freshly mown fields are nearby. A woman, immaculately dressed, has abandoned her trust fund parents to follow her passion of being CEO of her own “unacceptable” company. Though young, She is confident in her bearing.
This is the underrated fragrance that taught me to love jasmine and tobacco. It is straightforward and totally wearable. It highlighs the stars oft the show. almost to the point of being a soliflor. The tobacco is floral and unsmoked. The Jasmine is clean but feels indolic in the opening when cumin abounds. The opening also has a wonderfully inviting sweet and green hay.I dislike the smell of any tobacco smoke, ash, or associated odors. Luckily, they are not in this perfume, in spite of what the marketing department might say. JEC is feminine bordering on prissy with an edge. This is the most original and elegantly rebellious perfume I have ever smelled.
It layers beautifully.
My only complaint is in the longevity as it only lasts a few hours. I want to smell like this ALL DAY

As much as I admire the concept of unusual out-of-the-box perfumery Etat Libre d’Orange are all about, it’s a mistery to me how the brand is at all commercially viable. Each of their fragrances I’ve tried is balancing on the line of unique and non-wearable, and most topple over to the latter.
Jasmin et Cigarettes I found particularly weird at the opening, yet completely underwhelming in all its other stages.
The opening is a fresh jasmine (nice), wet ashtray (not so nice) and feces (not nice at all). It may be my skin chemistry + jasmine, but wearing this perfume makes me check my shoe soles with suspicion.
Fortunately, the unpleasant phase goes away quickly. Unfortunately, so does the uniqueness. What remains for the next few hours is a tame, light white floral. Breezy, pretty, a bit tingly, a bit peppery. And that’s about it.
I see what they were trying to do here and I appreciate the concept, but it seems to me they either took it too far out of the box, or didn’t take it far enough, and I can’t decide which. Anyway, I’ll wear my sample a few more times with an open mind but I don’t think it’s full bottle worthy for me.
pbc845elipseskism – :
I had my doubts about Jasmin et Cigarette, because jasmine isn’t my favourite note. I still had to give it a try, because I love tobacco. Sadly there is no tobacco, at least not the kind of warm aromatic tobacco I’m after.
I like the IDEA of dirtying jasmine up with cigarettes and animalistic notes, but when I put this on my skin, my first thought was: “Are you kidding me?” The opening is very unpleasant. It smells like BO and something rotting.
The description paints a picture of iconic actresses glamorously smoking cigarettes while the smoke swirls around them veiling them in mystery. No. There is nothing glamorous about this perfume. Nor is it edgy in a rebellious youth way. The smell of cigarettes is realistic, but it’s not the smell of cigarette smoke. More like cold cigarette stubs.
Jasmin et Cigarettes smells like a sad middle aged funeral home employee who’s been a heavy smoker since his teens. He has nicotine stains on his fingers and nicotine is oozing from his pores with sweat. It smells like the garbage bin where he dumps his ashtray along with rotting flowers.
DaphLoota – :
I’ve been a nicotine addict for 15 years and I get tempted of its name. A blind (and lets say, a bit drunken, ’cause as sober I thought too expensive 🙂 buy, but made a pretty disappointment. The opening is sharp, clean jasmine, and after it goes a clean, sweet tobacco (I like that scent, I roll cigarettes for my own) but that’s all.
Poor sillage and longevity. That’s okay for everyday work, but I expected more from such a niche scent 🙁
evgenfanat – :
Maybe it smells jasmine and cigarette, but not too natural. And my hope on yummy apricot was failed.
Tookoralp – :
The name for this is misleading – it does not really smell like cigarettes. It does definitely smell like jasmine, though. It starts out sweet, fresh, green and lush – really a fantastic vibrant jasmine scent. After a while it becomes sweeter with a honeyed, very slightly fruity tobacco note. For a while in the middle of its life, the indolic level suddenly amps up and it smells as sexy and indolic as I can think of, and then the tobacco again takes over, melding with the sweet jasmine into a pleasing drydown.
If you love jasmine, you have to try this. The florals last, the scent is fairly diffusive for florals like this (much better performance to the sadly fleeting jasmine in A la nuit) and they are reinforced by the tobacco and its fruity, honey notes. And don’t worry – no smoke, no cigarettes, no ashtrays! Another scent on a similar theme of white florals and tobacco is Rome 1963 by 4160 Tuesdays, which is also really enjoyable.
jenyaxxx7 – :
My first impression was: “oh! Smells like jasmine essential oil. With some cigarette ash.”
Being a jasmine lover, I love it. However, I get the same effect when I wear diluted jasmine EO, because I’m a smoker. I have a couple of bottles of the essential oil for which I paid a fraction of the cost of a bottle of this, so there’s no need for me to buy this.
But it smells lovely.
tonyduoc – :
skanky dirty jasmine and ashtray; love it
zigi_xen – :
I love this as a lightweight, but interesting, summer cologne. Smells mostly like jasmine tea to me. Non-indolic jasmine and dried tobacco/hay which can also smell like dried tea leaves. It’s mellow and not overpowering, or that long-lasting on my skin. I don’t get anything resembling lit cigarette or anything ashy from it. Fairly linear. Not as edgy smelling as the name would imply, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
EBrawuk – :
Atelier Cologne’s Jasmin Angélique is a signature-level favorite, and some have noted resemblance with Jasmin et Cigarette. So I’m doing a side-by-side test here.
Angélique opens greener with a citrus-galbanum punch, and continues the green thread with angelica from middle to dry down. There’s a darker, smoldering cloud of incense, easily 5 to 10 times stronger than Cigarette, bordering on opaque.
Cigarette’s jasmine is slightly more indolic, and the smoke less pronounced. A polite application of smoke, as tobacco embers lightening to ash. There’s a touch of sweetness (likely the Apricot) that Angélique lacks.
They converge even closer at the 2+ hour mark. Each have their merits. There’s certainly room in the collection and my heart, for both.
legion222 – :
Excellent for the summer. My sweat smells of high class Jasmine. This EldO creation is one masterpiece that bloomed during the summer. A true grower that needs time and care. Enough of them have been poured into the creation of this fragrance and it does require plenty of them in return, before its true beauty is unveiled.
There is a sense of tobacco but it’s supplemental, as is the apricot, both making the Jasmine smell cool and fresh. Yes, J et C is a brilliant choice for hot weather – i would have never guessed that Jasmine could be an ideal summer alternative to citrus and aqua, and give me the feeling of cool freshness that J et C fills me with. Bravo.

сергей13 – :
What a ride. This opened immediately with sandalwood, though not listed, and quickly vanished, followed not by pipe tobacco but cigarettes and jasmine. I did a double-take. I had grabbed the sample bottle blind, and did not even look at the label–yes, there it was: cigarette. This smells like the forbidden cigarette when you are a teen, the first (and last) one that hits hard in the back of the throat with full on nicotine, something that you can taste and makes you a bit nauseous. Within 10 minutes it was blurring, transforming and commingling with the very strong both green and indole-heavy Jasmine.
So there I am in my mind’s eye, as a teenager, smoking a god-awful bad cigarette (something like True) next to a Jasmine climbing vine in the hot summer evening, hoping not to get caught. That’s it. I was thinking what an interesting scent experiment, and, the perfume was not bad, but would I go through a full bottle of this?
I have a lot of bottles, so, probably not, but this becomes as the previous reviewer said, a gorgeous jasmine with tea and apricot. The cigarette which is maybe the “tea” or “nicotine” note on steroids settles into a Jasmine and Green tea with Apricot. It’s very different. I’m not a Jasmine lover (and I cannot tolerate cigarette smoke or anything to do with cigarettes)–but this really works. If I wasn’t so glutted with ‘fumes–this would be maybe in my top three Jasmine rotations on rare Jasmine days.
Other images: it is earthy, dirty though not quite “skanky”–more actual earth dirt, tropical foliage, quiet meditation. It is a highly unusual scent. If you try–do NOT be deterred by the peculiar opening, which I warrant will make many people run for the soap and water. Don’t. Just hold steady….and wait. It’s really worth it.
Mesus110bedyWelty – :
At first sniff, I stopped to check my own breath: was that bad breath smell coming from me, or the perfume? The jasmine starts off slightly acrid and indolic, but that quickly fades. The best jasmines always smell a little bit dirty, which gives it a fuller body. The tobacco (dry, unsmoked) gives it the hint of smuttiness. But Jasmine et Cigarette is by no means a dirty scent – it’s actually mostly a beautiful jasmine tea, and as it settles on the skin, the apricot peeks through, just enough to keep the scent from being too dry. This is really beautiful, and I want to snag a bottle just as the weather warms up – I love the bloom of jasmine in the heat.
Naibiaimmok – :
“And you’re worse than nicotiiiine”, sings Panic At The Disco. Yep. This perfume is a slut. Very loud jasmine, too loud to allow it in the high society. Its like a girl dressed wrong at the king’s and queen’s ball. The ladies and maidens will cover their blushy cheeks with a feather fans, the royal guards will be winking and smirking. And she is standing in the center of the ballroom: jasmine branch in the hair, cigarette in her hand. Some people feels jasmine like a “smell of the dead body”. Hell, no! Jasmine is beautiful, classy, mild, sexy. But not in this perfume! We’ll, who said you was invited to the royal ball, not Halloween? Very unusual smell, will make you brave and self confident.
Lady Retro – :
Contradictory and badass. Initially cigarettes, then with a thin veil of bright translucent jasmine. Frisky , aloof & shapeshifting.
dillerr1 – :
Huge blast of stale cigarettes followed by an ever-increasingly mundane, generic, amber-y floral-musk. The jasmines are the old-school synthetic kind that don’t smell much like jasmine.
Feels nonetheless modern from the start. In the mold of trendy nouveau-granny scents that’ve become popular recently.
Becomes quickly (incongruously) much more young and wholesome after the original wallop of chain-smoking granny.
I think this could appeal to a certain hipster sensibility.
For me the wallop of something controversial quickly followed by the uncontroversial, underwhelming dry-down gets on my nerves.
Feels like a rich, insecure art student trying on a new persona.
But don’t let me talk you out of it if you’re set on trying it. I’ve def been called a hater.

This is a present from a friend very close to my heart, who is as highly intelligent as handsome and talented. We both share the same passion for perfume (and cats), and he has not only enriched my perfume wardrobe since I first read his articles but my life too as a dear friend. And how well he must know me to send me this beautiful scent that I found captivating, aromatic and deeply sophisticated!! Jasmin et cigarette is a gorgeous scent with a personality that matches only the Old School concoctions and timeless classics. It has elements from Baghari and Habanita yet in a new interpretation. A first spritz reveals a powerful Jasmin engulfed in a cloud of seductive smoke, like an aloof lady sending aromatic vibes but never fully revealing herself, kept hidden behind a screen of smoke. Resins and fruit are not perceptible on their own but rather as a harmonious blend that adds rich nuances of sweetness and depth to the entire mix. ELDO here made a masterpiece. The beautiful pairing of indolic Jasmin and tobacco are a match made in perfume heaven. Several hours later and Hay joins the two main players; at this stage the smoke intensifies, to my delight, but Jasmin is far from giving up and continues its aromatic journey to the very end. This is as much as I can describe in words because this juice has a quality that cannot be put in words. However deeply aromatic it has a unisex vibe that makes it irresistible on a mans neck as much as a lady’s. It is a bold statement for both sexes, a scent full of vibe and personality with a longevity and silage to match. No half measures here, its all or nothing, like the lady herself.
Mexa – :
If I ever claimed to have a ‘signature scent’ (ugh), this would be one of the contenders.
This fragrance is what got me into ELdO, and although initially swayed by description, I kept coming back to that particular vial from the sample selection. And yet it wasn’t quite what I had expected: I’d hoped for dirty jasmine and cigarette smoke, heavy and not a little dubious.
What I got was jasmine (which I do love rather), full and mercifully not cleaned up to the fluorescent gleam of modern white flowers but not really dirty; and hay. Loads of hay up top, nearly too much of that sweet, pale greenness. As the fragrance progresses to the drydown stage, the jasmine gets cleaner and cleaner, greener and greener, but never jarring and always lovely.
As for cigarettes, ashtrays or smoke… yes, it’s there but to my nose it doesn’t really dominate or even is particularly prominent. Would it be a heresy to say that there isn’t enough of that and too much of the sweetness (candied apricot amber musk??). But that goes away soon and what’s left is a jasmine sprinkled with fine pale grey powder, maybe some musk, maybe finely ground hay or dry low-flavour tobacco (think American Spirit, not rich pipe mixtures). Clean dust of sorts… and getting cleaner and cooler with time.
To me, the whole thing makes me think of pearlescent grey silk, old and and a little raggedy but beautiful. A kind of fabric I could never wear without looking ill in an uninteresting and slightly icky way, but one that I’m very very happy to invoke by scent. Or space filled with light of the same colour, wrapped around smoke or dust streaks. There are pale gold – almost silver – electric sparks floating slowly around but the air is fresh.
Circumstantial notes: I like it better in the periods of my life when I DON’T smoke. And it layers well with leather (actual leather, I haven’t tried it with leather scents) and smokey/incensey stuff eg Breath of God.
9/10, easy

Absolutely a GORGEOUS scent!!!
hj12 – :
Jasmine et cigarette, you spelled mate wrong! The power of suggestion can confuse the keenest of noses, but this ain’t fooling me. There are no cigarettes, ashes or tobacco here, just the purest yerbamate note I’ve come across in perfumery, very leathery and astringent and adorned by the greenest Jasmine possible. The result is genius, a jasmine tea with a punch, it’s as if L’artisan’s The pour un ete had moved to South America to take up horseback riding in the pampas. Or as if Dietrich and Garbo were cozying up with cute gauchos and sipping mate. What’s not to love?
marissaidiongage – :
This may be one of the most beautiful applications of clean Jasmine I’ve ever smelled. The note is the star of the opening and remains the main player through the rest of the progression. The tobacco feels very damp and green on me, not like a cigarette and definitely not smoked. The apricot is present, just barely, a soft sweetness buoying up the jasmine. I’m not fond of the use of musk here; while itself it isn’t dirty, it seems to blur the drydown for me. ELdO scents wear notoriously close to the skin on me, this is no exception.
purgen9943 – :
i’ve been dying for a jasmine like this and here she is! at first it’s all jasmine, then some hints of tobacco and apricot. oh, this apricot is mouthwatering. i get some amber and some greenness from the hay. it just gets even better over time, definitely, a lady walking through walls of jasmine smoking a long skinny cigarette from a holder-dusky and in black and white, an old film star. the beautiful apricot intensifies along with some musk. this is a delightful apricot and i need a bottle, stat.
1986Joker1986 – :
Jasmine et Cigarette smells exactely like that. Like jasmine flowers and cigarette smoke, or an old ashtray.
The scent is supposed to evoke the elegance of movie stars from the golden era of Hollywood. Voluptuos and sensual looking ladies, dressed in elegant designer dresses, and smoking cigarettes, while gazing through the hazy clouds of smoke with a seductive look in their eyes.
But for me personally, this is the smell of my grandmother and her sisters. They where all heavy smokers, and they used to spray on a little extra perfume to hide the smell of cigarette smoke. This is what this smells like to me. My grandma and her sisters sitting together in my grandmas livingroom in the 70’s and 80’s, smoking and discussing politics and religion, drinking their Martinis and laughing so loud that the entire house was shaking.
I love this scent because of the memories it evokes, but I don’t like it as a perfume. The ashtray smell is way too prominent on my skin, and the jasmine in this perfume is of the cold, arrogant and slightly standoffish kind. It reminds of the jasmine note in TM’s Alien, a perfume I don’t like because the jasmine has that cold, untouchable aura.
Even though I don’t like this I have to admit that it is a fabulous creation. It’s extremely well made, true to the concept and smells really interesting and evocative. It deserves to be experienced.
Sillage starts off medium, but dries down to a quite soft scent. Longevity is about 8-10 hours on my skin.
A unique perfume indeed. And quite polarizing I think. You probably either hate this, or love this. 🙂
morozko1986 – :
The perfume is remarquably rendered in the description, this is the smell of cigarettes of an icon from the 80’s.
One can picture it by looking at Marlene Dietrich black and white photos with a cigarette in hands or, more funny, the emblematic cigarette of Cruella de Vil from the movie 101 Dalmatians.
This is the perfume of an icon and it is beautifully done !
Марикена – :
Opens with heavily indolic jasmin that rapidly becomes more and more acrid untill the alcohol has dried, then somehow transforms into the odor of a smoker’s house and clothes over old fashioned powdery floral bar soap, which I really thought would be the kind if thing I wouldn’t shy away from, but it lacks warmth for me, and comes off old, stale, lifeless, and kind of stuffy.
Alligator2009 – :
A beautiful, light jasmine over leathery tobacco. This is a surprisingly light and upbeat fragrance. From the name I thought it would be dark, sexy, and a little (or a lot) skanky but it’s not like that at all; the jasmine is not at all indolic, it’s a sweet, pretty, almost fruity jasmine. The “cigarette” is an expensive but light, hay-like (unlit) tobacco. Short lived with very little projection, even in the beginning, and it quickly goes down from there. The dry down stays pretty linear for me – sadly, I don’t get any of the amber or woods. Like many ELdO fragrances this isn’t for everyone – I certainly doubt if anyone around me will appreciate it – but it’s something you wear for your own pleasure (if you enjoy it, that is.) Personally, I love tobacco and I love white florals so I’m planning on buying a bottle. Cheerful and playful.
Edit: OMG I just realized what this reminds me of; Downtown Girl!! At least in the dry down; the beginnings are totally different. This is doubtless part of the reason why I like JeC so much – Downtown Girl is one of my favorite cheapies, and something I often turn to when I want something lighthearted but interesting.

I have been enjoying Etat Libre d’Orange’s fragrances, I’m on the fence with this one. Typically I find the smell of cigarettes to be one if those scents I hate, but this is fresh and not at all the smell of smoking cigarettes to my nose. Jasmine is another note that seems to either be beautiful or go right to an ideholic urine note, in Jasmin et Cigarette it’s a nice easy going almost sweet jasmine note. I smell nothing of the apricot though, which is actually a blessing because it can be to sweet sometimes. The tobacco note to my nose is like a dried tobacco note, brining a richness to the heart notes with making it smoky. As jec develops the jasmine is floral without being to green or heavy, and almost makes it seem a little old fashioned. The base is the icing on the cake, the combination of the cedar and the amber warms it up and really just makes a comforting scent. Considering there are so many notes that can turn on my skin so easily this is an amazing scent that balances everything in such a way that instead of turning me off to it makes me want to spray layer after layer on, I like this one a lot, it’s not a love, but since like. Try before you buy though.

Indole (the chemical that makes some white floral scents smell funky) is closely related to skatole (the chemical responsible for the smell of rotten teeth). I don’t get that vibe from this perfume, but I expect that this is the reason the reviewer below me perceives the halitosis as they do.
karina-24 – :
Oh my god. Blast of synthetic syrupy jasmine and then some tar-like ash. But the real horror is the drydown on MY skin- this literally turns into the smell of awful HALITOSIS (bad breath). It’s really, really disgustingly SOUR and moldy- must be that jasmine and apricot mix?? So imagine someone with incredibly bad breath wearing a cheap jasmine scent that is trying to mask the odor from their mouth but failing to do so. NOT A BLIND BUY- MUST BE TESTED ON SKIN!
pni506JeomiWogkig – :
Tried this today. I didn’t get any ashy vibe, just a nice tobacco, but it’s still not for me because on my skin the tobacco overtook all other notes.
SerjikVVV – :
J’adore!
led870speagoessenda – :
I usually like tobacco in perfume but this may be too much for me. It is tobacco burning, and very ashy. It does properly capture the essence of the scene described, but it is challenging to wear in part because it’s difficult to think of an appropriate occasion.
Sinyindisee – :
I recently purchased the Etat Libre d’Orange sampler set and this was the first fragrance I tried. I’ve been excited to try it for well over a year now, and I found myself a little bit disappointed. On me, this is a very lovely jasmine – but it never really mellows into the tobacco. Right after application, I get a little bit of sharp cigarette fumes – I just wish it would linger, or develop, rather than simply disappear. However, I’m fairly convinced/hopeful that my experience can be chalked up to the method of application: I had to dab the fragrance on from the sample vial. I’m going to order a set of small spray bottles and see if I get a more complex fragrance when I spray Jasmin et Cigarette versus dabbing it. Even if I don’t, there’s something really wonderful about the jasmine in this perfume – personally, I like the near-melancholic affect of it.
Andy1993 – :
Cigarettes and the chemicals in them, too! This has a certain sharpness to it (also the type of jasmine, that kind that’s reminiscent of hairspray white musk, contributes to the sharpness methinks), a spicy, pepper-like back of the throat tingle when I inhale that does a good job of evoking that cigarette smoke feel.
To me this cigarette is not lit yet; it’s still there in its little white paper roll, waiting for the smoke break and giving off an addictive chemical bite with its aroma, paired of course with an aromatic trail of ground tobacco. I say it’s more unsmoked because I get no ash component. Somehow it manages to be very cigarette smelling without smelling smoky to/on me, which I find strange.
I get a touch of dried, grass-like hay in there somewhere but no cumin, no plastic ashtray, and no ash. As I said, the jasmine is strong and has that white musk synthetic tone to it that many popular women’s perfumes do when they want to smell ‘clean’ and ‘floral.’ Ultimately I can’t really decide if I like this, but like a smoking habit (which happily I don’t have) I just keep coming back to get another little hit…
var4yn12 – :
Well, one thing’s for sure, the house really nailed it on the head with this fragrance. This perfume instantly brought me back to the early 90s as a child visiting my dad and step mom in their seedy urban apartment where they chain smoked, spent a lot of time at dive bars, and she was “the other woman”, an indolic-jasmine 80s powerhouse-wearing blonde vixen. This. smells. like. Her. To a T.
You might be flooded with nostalgia when you smell this. I think I’m going to scrub this off now, however.
