The CVS Essence of Beauty line had a set of EDPs and EDTs in slim, square-shaped bottles in the late 00s/early 10s intended to mimic certain Bath & Body Works scents. I used to own a few of the varieties (Passion Flower, Coconut Citrus, and Japanese Garden were the ones I owned, but I remember a Warm Vanilla Sugar knock off, as well one purple flowers one and one that was a Country Apple dupe).
I enjoyed the Passion Flower and Coconut Citrus ones, and I was excited to use my full unopened bottle, but then I ceded it to my mom so she could use it as an emergency gift for a young girl. Alas, I miss that bottle so much, as this line is no longer sold as EDTs. My review will therefore comprise of the numerous times I sampled it, since I worked there and could spritz with abandon before a shift.
This isn’t super complex, just a slightly fruity opening with a subtle cherry blossom floral and a warm, powdery clean musk. It doesn’t have the woody notes of the B&BW Japanese Cherry Blossom, but like its cousin, is a warm, powdery, inoffensive fragrance. It’s perfect for an office or a place you come into contact with a lot of people (a nurse, or say someone who actually worked at CVS like I did). Lasting power was decent for an EDT, a good 2-3 hours of full fragrance, then the musk remains close to skin for another hour or so. It was only $10 (and frequently part of sales), so it was a good deal.
I’d like to try the new line of EDPs at CVS, but the ones in near my part of Manhattan never seem to keep the EoB products in adequate stock. For bargain perfumes, these were lovely.
