Excellent sweet, fruity and musky dry down is where it shines. Disappointed it’s been discontinued.

One of those scents I find myself buying every 2-3 years or so after finishing the last bottle. It is a nice, masculine scent for a great price.

I had tried this walking through the mall one day and initially disliked it. However, I recently found a bottle for cheap and have revisited it several times and am now finding it to be quite nice.
At first glance, the list of notes sound very well thought out and promising. It doesn’t surprise me, then, to learn that Annie Buzantian, one of the noses behind Tommy for men, had a hand in the creation of this fragrance, as Tommy is another example of a beautiful and well thought-out collection of notes. In Izod, you have citrus, mint and cucumber to start, settling into juniper and lavender with a spicy/smoky tobacco and saffron finish. What’s not to like about that? Unfortunately, despite the nice thought put into formulation, the final product still has some flaws. It deserves an A for effort, but a few things do keep it from greatness.
The initial spray is very vibrant and unique, it certainly would make for a good day to day office scent as it perks you up and is an “eye-opener”, so to speak. However the initial spray suffers a bit from lack of a focal point amongst the notes. It smells great, but you will find yourself sniffing at it constantly until it dries down, trying to figure out exactly how your brain is supposed to process the mix of notes. Not bad, per se, but evident of a lack of cohesion between the notes.
The dry down is quite nice. A previous reviewer mentioned smelling something like “cherry” and I actually find it funny because I had thought the same thing. Something about the mix of notes at the base does come across as having a cherry-like scent to it. I find it somewhat familiar and very effervescent, which is very pleasing to me. It makes me think of fizzy cherry cola. Very unique. Others have called it cloying, although I think that’s a bit harsh. I don’t find it so much cloying as I think it more accurately suffers from being overtly synthetic.
That brings me to my last observation. The main problem this fragrance suffers from is being obviously synthetic. You can’t really knock it too hard for that as Izod is not exactly a luxury brand, but I do think if the same approach to this fragrance had been taken by a high-end designer (without having to keep lowered cost into consideration) it could make for a real high-class creation. As it is, however, it does prove a point that other frags such as Guess Seductive Homme and Rocawear Evolution do as well. While not necessarily similar, these fragrances all show that a more value priced cologne can be produced almost exclusively with synthetics, yet still be unique, intriguing and worthy of a place on your shelf. And, in the case of all of these fragrances, even be unique enough to use as a signature scent.
Longevity is surprisingly good and sillage is solid. The initial spritz lingers for a bit before naturally dissipating to the base. For the price, you can’t really ask for more in terms of performance.
Izod for Men is pretty much exactly what you would want from a signature scent for this brand. It is not amazing but it is solidly good, well-priced and accessible for a broad range of tastes, but unique enough that you can still think of it as an extension of your own personality and style.
Recommended for daytime/office/workout use. It is more citrus/vibrant than floral so it is most suited for Summer months, although it could be used successfully during the Spring as well.

Unique and different from mainstream scents.
Imagine taking a handful of herbs including mint, saffron, basil, sage, juniper and parsley with a generous squeeze of tangerine over it = this fragrance.
Citrissy and spicy/herbal mixed up… so I will wear it for winter.

The first time I tried this in person, I could have sworn that it was better and more interesting. This time, as the initial alcohol goes away, I’m getting a sharp but not terribly strong orange. This component is fine, but along with it comes a super-sweet tropical fruit note (papaya with possible cherry?) which again isn’t that strong but is so assertively cloying that it really stands out unpleasantly. On top of that, a terrible chemical note rears its head, like the hair salon / nail polish theme of Lanvin Vetyver or Insense Ultramarine. As it dries down, the orange is completely lost and mostly only cherry and hair-spray remains. What a disappointing offering. Not quite a thumbs-down because the base is nicer from farther away.

Very cool, relaxed citrusy blended scent. For me, I initially smell this beautiful lime/tangerine/grapefruit blend. Not in an “orange” way, but extremely crisp and refreshing. To top it off, there’s a bit of cucumber too – but when blended with the other citruses, it has this great modern/contemporary vibe.
It’s light but can still get you noticed. This is a late spring/summer scent for all types of warm weather. I’d go 3-4 sprays, because it wears off after 4ish hours.
While some citrus aquatics are too lemonish or fruity and have a warm feel to them, Izod is precisely the opposite. The light background notes of tobacco are ever so subtle but really spark a bit of curiosity as mint, saffron, and even lavender are apparent more discretely.
What do I picture? Really anything, as it’s so light. But I think (in ideal scenario wearings) of a warm windy summer day in the city, water fountains blasting around you, maybe even a bit of light rain — and then that blast of fresh air from an air conditioner as you enter a cool marble building and sip ice water as things settle down and pacify.
Again, it is very cool and relaxed, like the color of the bottle.
Best I can describe. A windy day would be PERFECT as this scent needs all the help it can get in terms of projection.
Give it a try!! Not expensive at all ($20 for a 4.2 oz) and can by far be your signature scent in the summers. You’ll get complimented, and a few might ask what you’re wearing!
    Unique stuff!!!!

I enjoy this scent on my husband. Bought a small bottle last year and its gone, I would repurchase. I think certain women could wear it as well.
I prefer light fragrances in warm weather for both sexes, non-cloying and not suffocatingly sweet or heavy.

I personally really enjoy clean fresh scents. Izod is great for that. You’ll smell very clean when wearing it. I get a lime, saffron and cucumber combo through the whole duration. The lime is very well done. The cucumber makes it smell almost green. It is more of a green fragrance, so the bottle should probably be green instead of blue. A very good scent for the price.

This is very nice, it smells expensive but it is not, it is fresh, masculine in a light way. Yet better than all the Lacoste out there which are laundry clean smelling.
My husband wears it and it is an uplifting scent, suitable for any age, it isn’t spicy or woodsy. Just simply smelling good.

  11. :

    I like that.
Fresh smell and very good for the price.
It smells sophisticated and modern, very nice feel to it.
The Longevity is good and satisfactory projection.
In evidence I feel that there are notes of ginger in it, but is not listed.
It is worthwhile to use it.
    I classify this:
    Smell: 8.7/10
    Projection: 8/10
    Longevity: 8.5/10

  12. :

Overwhelmingly citrus-dominated. A longer lasting and much cheaper version of Clinique Happy for men. Don’t know how but Izod has somehow managed to keep the citruses distinct: lime, tangerine and grapefruit are detectable by their own quality. Has an almost medicinal feel to it which by no means is unpleasant. Somewhere, the lavender gives this a powdery note. Would grab this and spray it for any casual outing.
    A cheapie but a goodie.

  13. :

lasts for like 4 minutes, not kidding.
but really cheap and the smell is pleasing!
I wear this in my house constantly, smelling good always puts me in a good mood and wearing something like this fits that job description.

A nice, fresh, light citrus scent.
It wasn’t very expensive. I bought a 1 oz. bottle, new, in the box off of Ebay for $13.00. In my opinion, a good buy.

Great summer/spring day time scent. I get cucumber with some mint and a lighter slight floral dry down. I don’t get any tobacco or incense with this, just a great no musk fresh!

I’ll say it’s a wow. I get lots of compliments wearing this (Men or women) it is a fresh fragrance that will make you feel you just got out of shower. The only thing is this scent is boring when you wear it during the night.

  17. :

An explosion of fresh citruses mixed with green notes of mint and cucumber. An enjoyable fragrance at a very affordable price.

Reminds me of a milder version of Versace Man Eau Fraiche, with a little cucumber thrown in.

  19. :

This is a really special Summer fruity fragrance that is surprisingly cheap! The opening is like a glass of lemonade and a bite of crisp apple. The aquatics come in at about 30 minutes and stay til the very end, which for me is about 7 hours. This has great projection and will get you noticed!

  20. :

    5 out of 5

Pleasant clean fresh scent with mild sillage. Prominent crisp notes of cucumber, mint and citrus make it ideal as a light day fragrance ….for the office as it’s ever so subtle… or even a nice day at the beach comes to mind!! 🙂

This is a suprisingly great fragrance in my opinion. I wasn’t sure what to expect from it but I picked up a little .5 oz bottle at tj maxx for $5 and I was very impressed. It’s a summer powerhouse for sure. Very fruity on opening, then turns into spicy/fruity/aquatic. It’s lovely and cheap and lasts a decent while.

i don’t know but it really smells nice even though it’s cheap..i received a small bottle of this as a gift and now it’s almost empty, too bad i can’t find any here in my country..love this scent, it doesn’t smell cheap…perfect for my age cause im only 17.. 9/10..
    planning on getting another one..

I love this! I got it for my husband and he loves it too, it reminds me of sailing on a crisp day surrounded by waves and ocean. Vaguely marine-y if that is a word. Very clean and fresh. Not a dark mysterious overly masculine scent, true, but there is a time and place for everything. Very non-offensive if you are sensitive to fragrances.

  25. :

    3 out of 5

Some people say this reminds them of Versace Eau Fraiche, and I slightly agree. But something about this fragrance is less… predicatable than Eau Fraiche. It’s deeper and (although I love Versace Eau Fraiche) slightly more interesting. It’s kind of a mossy note that; added with the aquatics and fruits, creates a fantastic scent for a man.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

This actually reminds me a lot of Roberto Cavalli Blue but I find that this has more sillage and longevity. It also borrows some woody elements (and mint) from Hugo Boss XY, which is another stellar woody aromatic. I’m surprised this didn’t sell better in department stores, as it is a very likable, even well-done, fragrance. I just don’t think the brand did a good enough job at marketing themselves as they made their entrance into the perfume world. Additionally, they played it so safe with the formula that I doubt any of the sales reps even noticed it.
This is a great casual fragrance that is fresh, appealing and uplifting. At its asking price, this should be in every man’s collection for those days when you don’t feel like thinking long and hard on what to wear.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

This is one of the nice surprises. It starts out super fresh and citrus with mint and citrusy fruits but the cucumber sets it apart and makes the scent a bit watery/aquatic. It’s sweet but not syrupy. Quickly it dries down to a light spiced woody scent. Surprisingly, the base reminds me of Versace Eau Fraiche with the saffron and wood. I love them both, but Izod is just so much more affordable.

Perfect “bang for the buck” fresh scent for the office. The scent will probably not offend anyone or break the wallet making it great for everyday use. It has a very clean smell like freshly cut cucumber with a touch of lemon and it doesn’t overpower. Spray on neck and chest, then a close spray on a single wrist and dab both wrists together to spread and you should be good to go. Put this in your workweek rotation of colognes.
Be careful removing the cover on the bottle. There is a couple of lips on the inside cover that will catch on the square spray cap and pop it off sending it flying into the sink. If you don’t have a stopper it will go into the drain. If the cap pops off, just pop it back on. No big deal. Leaving the bottle cover off is a good move though.

I used to love this stuff. But I gave it to my Uncle because I think it expired or something.. It started smelling like nail polish.

Walmart has this in a body spray now!
I sprayed it and immediatley a woman asked me what are YOU wearing?
I always get compliments wearing this, it’s just sweet enough for women to like, and just fresh enough to leave and let be.
You should have this, it’s simple, bang for the buck, and lasts.

I almost did not buy this! I thought: not another “fashion” scent…and blue and fresh? But after spraying the tester, I put this little baby right in my cart! One of the very best casual manscents out there and it is so much more than the bottle or name implies…
This does start out fresh, in a juicy citrus type of way (lime, grapefruit and tangerine, duh!?); but it’s smooth and sweet, not sharp and ‘bright’. The cucumber adds a wateriness and the mint adds a very cool green tinge. It does remind one of sea and sky with a cool, clean breeze. The heart is a wonderful aromatic blend of fresh lavender and juniper’s green vapory aroma, softened by the cyclamen (persian violet). Quite manly and elegant. The drydown is superb: saffron’s unique scent with a smoky incense note and dry tobacco!! All man and very sexy with a slight mysteriousness, yet it feels clean, and not too heavy or musky. This is perfect for kicking back and having a few with friends or even wearing to work/school. No one yet has complained about this scent, and I wear it quite often. IZOD is a definite keeper!
    Sillage: good
    Longevity: impressive
    Overall: 4.25/5
The moral of the story: Never judge a “juice” by its flacon!! This is a great scent and so very cheap, I will be buying this one again…

Definitely pick up the cucumber and mint up top. Then settles in to some of the juniper and a lot of the incense. Nice enough frag but I prefer something a little more complex and long lasting.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

This is a great smell. The cucumber, lavender and incense notes combine wonderfully to produce a very calming fragrance. Even though this frag is characterized as a citrus aromatic scent I find it aquatic. It’s light but lasts very long. This scent is affordable, clean and great for everyday use.

Sometimes i wonder why they make colognes with the top,and mid notes. This has a very fruity start, It dives right into the saffron, tabacco, and incense. It’s a wonderful combination that i can still smell on my skin from this morn. Wore this one on a cold day. As soon as into work it was nothing but compliments.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

It is very nice and fresh. The scent is pleasant and for once a fragrance that does not smell strongly of lemon like most citrus fragrances. On initial application the Lime, Grapefruit and the Mint is apparent – mixed with the water/aquatic smell of Cucumber which is nice and cooling. I have had quite a few compliments @ work about IZOD and i’m really glad i made this purchase. 7.5/10

Such a great cologne to have in your circulation. Very simple and not strong at all.
I love the blend of citruses in this. It has a very cool-relaxed feel to it, like what kay_li13 said, it reminds me of cool water for women but for men lol.
It’s perfect to wear when your just out and about hanging with the friends. The longevity is great as well. I’ve been wearing it for more than 5 hours now and i can still clearly smell it on my skin without having to put my wrist up to my nose.
For this to be Izod’s first cologne, I’m exited to see what they come out with next.
