be swept away with the whirling dervishes of the Blue Mosque,
in a soft oriental wind of sandalwood, cinnamon and musk.

I agree with 2746cstreet that there is a Turkish delight quality to this scent. Though it is sweet and not overpowering, I expected more breadth to the fragrance, a broader base to act as a foundation for that candy quality. Then again, it’s better to have something not overpowering than to have too much of a good thing. I want to try other Scent of Departure offerings, but this one is not for me at this stage of my life. I would have enjoyed this in my twenties. I do think the perfumer did a great job with balancing the fragrance, though, and I suspect my niece is going to love it. I love the airport tag themed bottle, too- very clever to use an image that is a banality attendant to something so exciting as air travel, vacations and exotic destinations.

Istanbul smells like spicy rose Turkish Delight crafted with magic, IN HEAVEN.
Candied rose, litchi, elemi, some powdery violet and soft raspberry. I believe I smell cardamom, but no cinnamon.

As I will be traveling to Istanbul in September, I had to try this one out! Alas, it was a definite meh on me. No sweetness, not much in the way of spiciness either. Just not definitive.

It’s really spicy. I smell spices and pepper. I cant’t find bergamot and grapefruit. Not sweet at all.
Bought it without smelling and I’m not disappointed.
It’s rather for brunettes not for blondes.

Bought it just yesterday in Vienna duty-free shop! There were all of these scents available. Thought I’d pick VIE, but it sounded tooo sweet and generic. Also BUD was pretty interesting. Anyway, the bottles looks marvelous!
