Description
In the year when FRAGONARD celebrates 90 years of its existence, perfumers of the house celebrate IRIS! In the past few years Fragonard introduced special collection that celebrated and singled out the ingredient of the year, so during the years we enjoyed the fragrances and the accompanying collections Mimosa (2010), Fleur d’Oranger (2011), Violette (2012), Muguet(2013), Pois de Senteur (2014), Jasmin (2015) while this year the focus lies of precious Iris.
Top notes of Iris provide luminous-bitter union of citron and bergamot, announcing a feminine bouquet of violet and heliotrope in the heart. The base is warm and resinous, composed of tonka, and provides extremely powdery chord of iris absolute.
Besides 50 ml EDT flacon with iris flowers illustrations on the glass, the collection offers a set of 4 soaps, glass plate for soaps, room scent with 10 sticks, as well as a specially designed set which includes a purse, hand towel and mini flacons of shower gel and EDT. All products in the set are decorated with iris flower illustrations.
Iris was launched in 2016.

On me this is virtually a soliflore, but I’m quite tempted to buy it for work, it’s nice and simple. Have Fragonard really only just released this? I feel I’ve heard of it before, years ago. It sounds classic? :/

I like the base notes of this fresh fragrance, I find it relaxing and uplifting, perfect for summer with a light powdery texture that lasts on your skin.

non saprei…ci sento molto la violetta…anzi se non ci fosse sritto iris direi che è un profumo strutturato intorno alla violetta, infatti mi ricorda il profumo dell’anno violette dove però si sente molto il lichy

Fragonard Iris opens with a herbal citrus scent of bergamot, rendered creamy by a dollop of white musk, not dissimilar to D&G Light Blue. This phase lasts quite long on my skin, while the shy iris and violet struggle under this thick, albeit white, citrus-musk cloud, especially during the first two hours.
It’s not until after about 3 hours that the iris, flanked by sweet violet and heliotrope, really becomes dominant. The iris here has nothing rooty or earthy, but a pure cosmetic powder type, along with an aldehydic glimmer. However, the fragrance is quite soft overall, and the powder seems to sink very close to skin instead of hovering around. The remnants of citrus also help to keep it fresh and light.
Fragonard Iris eventually morphs into a sweet musky skin scent with a violet hue after about 5 or 6 hours, and it lasts about 8 hours in total. The sillage is moderate to soft. I’d hesitate to recommend it as an iris soliflore because of the rather quiet presence of iris, but as a floral musk with a discreet powdery texture, it’s a very versatile and affordable option.
