Description

Infusion d’Iris fragrance from Prada was presented in 2007 as Eau de Parfum. The name of the fragrance is inspired by the traditional method of extracting iris fragrance that takes six months to complete. The lighter and more affordable version of the original was launched in 2010 in the form of Infusion d `Iris Eau de Toilette. In March 2012, the more intense, richer and more oriental edition comes out under the name of Infusion d’Iris Eau de Parfum Absolue.

Infusion d’Iris Eau de Parfum Absolue expresses preciousness and luxury, blended from carefully selected, rare and high quality ingredients. The composition mixes notes of exotic Tunisian neroli, orange blossom, iris from Florence, mastic, benzoin from Laos, tonka bean from Venezuela, Madagascar vanilla and white musk. It is signed by Daniela Andrier.

The fragrance is available in gold-colored bottles of 50 and 100 ml.

The nose behind this fragrance is Daniela (Roche) Andrier.

I’ve been loving this again now in the cooler temps! I call this my “winter iris” because of its warm, balmy texture and soft sweetness. I adore original Infusion and Chanel Poudre, and Absolu is actually quite similar to the latter. But I get more out of the resins in Absolu this time of year. It’s like original Infusion was lightly caramelized and thrown into a bottle. Mmmm. The light golden color represents the fragrance well.

This is beautiful. Usually I’m unable to wear iris and the original Prada Infusion D’iris which is too soapy, makes my nose go funny as it tends to dry out my nostrils.
The absolue version reminds me of a refined and high end version of J&J baby shampoo, a clean baby’s head without smelling like baby products and nothing like baby powder/nappies. It is quite different to the original one even though there is similarities – though i wouldnt have noticed. The original is cold and absolue is warm. I tend to gravitate towards ‘warm’ fragrances regardless of the weather or season.
Remains close to the skin and is not a loud perfume, but more of a perfume that is not perfumey which makes you smell nice rather than it standing out as a perfume.

This is a less incense-y, less sheer version of my all time favorite Infusion d’Iris. It’s a bit more woody, a bit more woody iris and a bit heavier than IdI, but in the end it mellows to virtually the same scent, in a slower mood.

It is very sad for me to think that one day all my bottles of Guerlain Shalimar Initial will be completely gone to the last drop. Prada Infusion D’Iris Absolue may, just may be the one I’m gonna consider for a sub, unless I may find something else out there by that time.
I tested it at Bloomingdales and it seemed to lack of the “softness” and “smoothness” of Shalimar Initial. It was pretty harsh to my nose from the start…If I did not have a taste of Shalimar Initial, thing might be different…

My first impression…. The green/woods is toned down and replaced by a creamy powdery vintage lipstick vibe. Very nice!
Where the original is dry/thin and woody, this is creamy/powdery.
I do love my greens (galbanium is my fave green note- completely missing from this), so this isn’t better than 2007 Id’I but it’s a SOLID LIKE!
I do agree there is a splash of Prada Candy added to this. (And a hint of Shalimar Parfum Intial EDP)
I miss the green and woods of the original as this dries down into the middle stage (so similar to a less sweet, soapy, powdery Prada Candy now). I wish there was a thick-as-hell-EDP-absolue of the very first, original Id’I. I’d be so happy. Something nuclear that burns your nose hairs. 😉 xoxo
The drydown (2+hours) comes back full circle to smell more like the 2007 original instead of Candy. This is very very good!
Ok- this 1 squirt tissue test drydown is AWESOME. Similar to the original, but with a creamy vanilla. I really hope this has good sillage/longevity when I wear it later!
    Wearing update:
I applied heavily to my shirt/chest (thin tee shirt), and refreshed it several times during the evening (5pm to 10pm). I LOVE THIS! The incense of the 2007 original, with a smooth sweet lipstick powder vanilla– and as a whole- I got hints of leather (love). This is wonderful. BUT the sillage sucks. However, the rich incense and powder/sweet lasted ALL NIGHT on fabric. This was a cold Upper Michigan Fall test (it is currently snowing).

I think sometimes you dont choose the fragrance, it chooses you.
I wrote in my first review about a year ago that i bought a bottle of this in hopes it would satisfy my longing for the original infusion d iris edp, which at the time was hard to find and unbelievably pricey here in Oz, but since i was wanting the fresh soapy qualities of the origional, I found it was too dry, powdery and strong for me so i gave it to my mum.
Well ever since the day i gave it away its been in the back of my mind calling me back. I asked mum if i could grab it and try wearing it again, she said of course. So i was full of excitement to get the bottle back but found she hasnt touched it at all, it looks like its been sprayed maybe..twice lol. When i asked her if she ever wears it she said ” mm not really, i tried it but..na.”
So today i wore it again, i tried dabbing a little of the origional IDI over the top to give it a bit of an incense kick and omg im in love!
I can’t believe i didnt give her more of a chance:( Today it just made me feel happy. IDI absolue is almost the same as the origional edt, yes, only bolder, powderier and less soapy; its dryer than the origional and is more like a makeup sort of powder, not so much a baby powder. The lasting power is much much better also. Its lovely in cool weather but once the sun came put and i warmed up, the musk and benzoin really intensified, giving it a balmy almost smoky quality.
IDI absolue is classy, sophisticated; and warmer than its original counterpart, which i find a little cold and serious (but is oddly one of the reasons i love it.)
I think maybe at the time i just wasn’t ready for this masterpiece to be mine, I didn’t appreciate the beauty in its golden vintage style liquid. Over the last year ive wasted more money on failed blind buys than anyone will ever know, i think trying to figure out what fragrance i can call my own; my signature style. And i have gravitated towards pradas infusion d’iris line for so long now that i think this one is it, my special scent that just fits. Ive always loved fragrances that were thought to be ‘ too old’ for me, aldehydic, chypre scents but didnt think i was ready for them yet so I would try wearing the age appropriate fruitchoulis, the gourmands.. and all the things can tolerate but dont really love.
I cant look at sugary sweet scents anymore; im so over all that. Powder sweet yes, foody sweet, no. Fragrances like this are not made that often anymore; Pradas Infusions line brings back the classic style of perfumes for those that want the old style, well crafted, high quality scents. No matter how i tried to fight it, IDI Absolue found me and has a tight hold over me.

I accidentally bought Parfum Absolue thinking I was purchasing Infusion D’Iris, the pre 2015 reformulation version. Initially I was so bummed out as I normally wear the latter in Summer, and I was missing one of my favorite summer fragrances.
Absolue is warmer and heavier, whereas Infusion is brighter and crisper. The powdery iris note is present in both, but because this Is more complex, I wear it in cooler weather and I think that’s wear it belongs. That’s the main difference to me. This is for cool weather and Infusion is a perfect warm weather scent.
I like having both as they are different. My favorite from Prada continues to be the pre 2015 reformulation of Infusion, but this is a big, beautiful and long lasting scent. Maybe not the most original perfume, but I don’t think it needs to be.

Just strikingly beautiful to me – clean – soapy – elegant – rich – powdery – sweet – heavanly !
Love its deep enchanting vibe , one of my top 5 . Love all the prada infusions .

    Meh…
This is my least favorite so far of the Infusions. It’s not “bad” per se; it is lovely and charming but a little too grandma-ish. To compare: the original d’Iris and the wonderful Cedre version both have a crisp lightness that helps to make them magical. Not light to the extreme mind you. They’re both very slightly powdery, just enough to give them some needed weight, but it’s not overdone.
Absolou is closer to actual face powder! If d’Iris and d’Iris Cedre are like bathing with a very fragrant expensive soap, Absolou is the same experience after you towel yourself off, get dressed, apply makeup and put on an ornate broach. That awesome Infusion d’Iris DNA is still there, and it still is kinda sorta unisex… But on the matronly side of unisex, if that makes any sense.
Oh and Public Service Announcement: this is NOT a more concentrated version of Infusion d’Iris! Yes, I think we would all love it if they busted out with the Pure Parfum version of the beloved original but this ain’t it baby. It’s very much a flanker- simply a different more powdery interpretation (and no: “more powder please” doesn’t qualify as a more concentrated version). It doesn’t last longer than the original and like its predecessors sticks close to the skin (one of the things I dislike about the Infusions- they should perform better for the price point… I shouldn’t have to fill a vat with it and swim in it just to get a compliment out of somebody).
Listen: try a sample before buying. And if you already have the original you’re good IMO. Trust me: you’re not missing much.

I worried I might smell the vanilla in this as I do not like the vanilla odor except in baking. But this perfume is lovely. The vanilla just helps soften the sharp iris smell. This is a well rounded perfume and the scent of Iris is dominant to me. It is an unusual scent and I can see why some people think it is too sharp or stringent. It’s sort of when some people think cilantro tastes bitter like soap and just can’t taste what others taste in it. Or when some people taste straight premium vodka on the rocks and only get a bitter alcohol taste while others can taste the sweetness and roundness of the liquor as well.
I like this unusual scent the same way I like Hermes, Caleche. They are both unique, nicely sharpd and dry down to a warm soft, long lasting scent that I love getting whiffs of. This Iris may becomes my signature scent. as I love it on my skin.
This scent is for ladies over 30, not teenagers. It’s way too sophisticated for young women.

Oh, I’ll add I get only the floral, powder, white floral, and it must be the wood that gives the floral that bit of drag, as opposed to silky smooth.

Having hated the original green D’Iris for its intense and offensive incense note and just this weird unexplainable vibe, I was doubting to try this one.
Then I saw a bottle on sale and it is just so gorgeous, so I bought it.
Best of all the Irises for sure! Warm, alluring, subtle and oh so beautiful. Powdery, clean, sweet iris, without that offensive and loud touch the original had.
    Very feminine, tender and beautiful.

Infusion d’Iris Absolue is a must-have for me. I had tried Infusion d’Iris (the original) first, then gave away my sample because it was too baby-powdery for me. But I couldn’t get it out of my head, and once I became aware of the Absolue I knew I had to have it based on the resins, vanilla, and tonka. So I blind-bought it.
To my initial annoyance, it smelled just like Infusion d’Iris. If you’re used to warmer and/or sweeter scents it will be difficult to pick up the base notes. Nevertheless, I kept on wearing it and not knowing why. Over time I can detect the warmer notes in the base. They’re subtle and do not try to upstage the iris, as when tonka- or vanilla-centric fragrances become too syrupy and heavy. Absolue is light and airy with a touch of resinous sweetness. There’s a slight medicinal-balm slant to it reminiscent of Carmex. It’s a casual scent for me, very relaxing the way lavender is, and smells good in all weather. It will always be in my wardrobe.

One of my favorite perfumes! It’s soft, restrained, elegant… a real gentle beauty. Medium strength and longevity. Iris, tonka with almost a hint of leather to my nose. Out of my entire collection, this is the only perfume that I’ve purchased a back up bottle. I’ve read that it was discontinued (say it ain’t so!) but I was able to find it on Overstock for a good price.

This is BY FAR the best of the Infusion d’irises. It is similar to the EDP, but without that extra sharp note of something that is offensive to my nose. This Absolue is simply beautiful and classy. It smells even better as it dries down. one of my favorites for life!

  16. :

    3 out of 5

The bottle… gorgeous, gold, stately dresser jewelry. The scent, luxurious and balmy and quite different from the original EDP and not a concentrate as one might assume.
Infusion d’Iris EDP Absolue is aloof, yet contemplative with a graceful and dignified character. The perfume opens with clean, soapy, lush blossoms that make way for a cool, waxy iris with an empyrean air. Neroli brings a natural aldehyde-like quality and classiness to the fragrance.
The rich, balmy base is clean, very smooth, resinous and imparts a vibrance that is warm and welcoming in contrast to the cool opening accords. It also brings a gentle, yet firm anchor to Absolue, replacing the weightless citrus, woods and incense in the original EDP.
I am learning however that fragrances with prominent iris are personally not for me. Somehow I am always transported back to my childhood, sniffing the head of a plastic scented doll (she was a little friend of Strawberry Shortcake and wore a yellow dress and hat, and I don’t remember what her name or her featured scent was). Up close, iris notes in perfume give me a sense of lingering synthetic, plastic queasiness. It also gives me associations with cheap baby shampoo that just doesn’t complement my skin chemistry.
From afar she is a stunning beauty, and for a moment I thought that Absolue would be the one. Ultimately though, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to wear iris as a featured note; it will always remain a noble flower that I won’t ever conquer. I envy those who can wear this indomitable beauty.

This smells like a seriously luxe bar of soap. Like you used that soap in a nice, warm bath with a matching oil and then dried off with a super fluffy, expensive, light greyish-blue towel, and then laid around, distracted by thought, wearing that towel until you felt a bit of a chill and decided to get dressed. Soft, clean, and warm, it stays close but lasts long. Perhaps a tinge of melancholy? Yes, I think this is reminiscent of a bath I would take to try, unsuccessfully, to reclaim some of myself during that “going through the motions” phase following a break-up. It seems to be missing some heart yet is all the better for it. A very unique yet elegant and almost cerebral scent.

Infusion d’Iris Absolue is a beautifully soft, flowery iris on first spraying. Shortly afterwards there was a brief spicy scent which reminded me of bergamot, although that is not listed in the notes and the aroma is fleeting. I could not notice it on my skin, at all.
This is an iris done so well that as well as appealing to established iris lovers, it could also serve as an “introduction to irises” for people unaccustomed to the note. The lovely iris-ness of it is very true and yet it is tempered, not a grab-you-by-the-throat, “I AM IRIS” like Lutens’ Silver Mist, which can be a shock to the system on first smelling it.
After three hours the air around me was still filled with iris, while on my skin the soft iris had a sweet edge which was noticeable at times. Another hour later and the skin iris was powdery, while there was no change to the scent in the air.
Even after seven hours I could smell the iris emanating from the neck of my coat, while the sweet, soft iris powder on my arm was beautiful. A little later I felt that I could smell a little incense on my arm, blended with the iris.
Longevity is excellent with Infusion d’Iris Absolue. Projection is also pretty good for several hours, being probably a couple of arms’ length. This is an excellent fragrance in all respects, and truly beautiful. One of my many favourites and one that I always enjoy wearing.

Infusion d’Iris Absolue – What’s not to love about this warm and luxurious cloud that envelops you for hours. It is quite dense and balmy yet a bit sweet and delicate. I agree that it is quite linear but its such an addictive fragrance. I can’t seem to get enough of it and thankfully it is quite fitting for any season. I have been enjoying this now for several months and I always find that it has amazing longevity, with it lasting less in summer heat but performs really well. Today for example 7am and now close to 8pm and it is still going strong. Ah, such a ethereal scent.

I can not tell enough, how much I love this parfume. It has been my signature for some years, since I tried it first. For me it is the perfect, balanced mix of iris, vanille and balsamic notes. It makes me self-confident, it feels very elegant, womanish, absolutelly not a luscious one, more on stand-off way. On my skin it lasts at least 8 hours, and even more on my scarf. The scent doesn’t change a lot, it is more a linear one, it gets a little smoother as time goes on.Love love love.

This is a more feminine, softer, and slightly sweeter version of the original Infusion d’Iris EdP. Yes, sweeter, definitely after the drydown, because of the vanilla and benzoin notes. Elegant, classy, but also comfortable, it’s a warm, powdery iris fragrance, for me simply divine.

  22. :

It’s a pretty fragrance, more suited for mature ladies rather than young ladies. IT is very similar to Prada Infusinon DÍris but also to Chanel no. 5. Actually, at the first spray I thought I smelled Chanel no. 5 and even now, after 30 minutes after spryaing it on it still smells like No. 5.
As it is a more refined and sophisticated fragrance, I will keep it for special ocasions.
Later edit: the fragrance is not very long lasting…it’s a shame because it is such a luxurios perfume 🙁

I’ve tested this beauty in store many times before. I’d spray it on my wrist as I passed the perfume counter in Dillards. Recently I received a decant in a swap. I truly love this fragrance. It’s soft, mildly sweet, powdery and classicly feminine. Of course I am generally attracted to any powdery iris scent but the benzoin and vanilla in this one add a special touch. It’s the perfect vintage makeup scent to me. Not TOO chokingly powdery, with just the right amount of sweetness. It lasts about 5 hours on my skin, or considerably longer on clothes.
My mother and all my female friends seem to love this one as well. Unfortunately all the men in my life, related or not have the same opinion: “It smells like an old 60-something librarian. It’s ok… if you WANT to smell like a decrepit librarian.”…wah wah wah :

This is indeed different than the EDP. Less woodsy, with more balmy resins and warm vanilla. Still has crisp iris but I own both and in a cold climate such as mine (central western Canada, cold and dry) the original is not what I want to wear in the winter. This warm and rich beauty is wonderful, perfect for cold weather – be it a rainy and humid climate or a dry cold one. The EDP and this one are both worth owning at the same time, for sure.

Wonderful, cozy scent for the colder months. Powdery scents, as much as I enjoy them, end up giving me a headache so I gave this to someone else. One spray goes a long way so you really get your money’s worth.

This is all I hoped it would be: a more intense version of Infusion d’Iris EDP. Not so much incense, but just enough of a hint for those who love it and perhaps zero for those who don’t like it. I was afraid it might be too sugary sweet because of the benzoin and mastic resin, but nope. Just perfect.

Unfortunately this one is going to be discontinued soon, so i idvise you to do rhe same as me, stock it buying on the net. I foud 3 50ml bottles for a really reasonable price. But that site doesn’t have any more left. You can try anyway by Cosmétiques online. Good luck!

So, I just received a sample of this and am swooning. I actually tried Infusion D’Iris on about a year ago–can’t remember now though if it was the EDT or EDP–and found it too powdery. This one is peeerrrrfect. Agree with previous posters that it does dry down quickly, while continuing to smell complex and rich.

Dear CocoZadig, if you can not find Infusion d’Iris Absolue Prada, I recommend to you Love Eau Intense Chloe. I also own a Infusion d’Iris Absolue Prada and I love it very much. Today, by some coincidence while waiting for my flight at the airport and walking through Duty Free, tried on me Love Eau Intense Chloe. I do not know why I chose to try this bearing in mind that I’m not huge fan of Chloe fragrances. I was amazed at how close to Prada is this. If you can find Love Eau Intense Chloe, my advise to you is to give it a green light and try it. I think that is a good substitute for Infusion d’Iris Absolue Prada. 🙂

I love this so much. My signature scent since it came out a few years ago. And this is why I am terrified to ask: has it been discontinued? I can no longer find at Nordstrom’s, and neither is it listed on the Prada site. Thanks.

iris also has a very leathery effect… but it is not that strong in any concentration of Infusion d’Iris. We sense the leather but is never like the leather note in Cuir de Russie or fahrenheit, to name a few. Iris is a very rich scent in all aspects of the term. It can be metal like silver or gold, it can be , yes, very powdery, it can be earthy, it can be slightly floral and it can be leathery, but all that in the most sublime way ever smelt by humans nostrils. Try Chanel 31 Rue Cambom and you will see/smell what I mean.
Absolue is just what the name implies, an Absolute version of Infusion d’Iris. I’ve got mine. Heaven on Earth.

This literally smelled like powdered gasoline on my skin. As if I used turpentine to clean paint from my hands, and then a powdery lotion to cover that smell.

I sampled Infusion d’Iris, loved it, went to buy it, and blind bought this on a whim instead. I was disapointed when I found this one smelled like nothing but powder on me. I found it very boring. Having taken it back out recently, it has grown on me. It’s a quiet quality perfume–but by no means a favorite.

  38. :

It is the typical Autumn scent for me, as the first rusty leaves are fallen and the first misty chilly morning comes I feel like wearing it with a nice warm fluffy scarf. It is the best time of the year wearing it, however during winter time it is also very good. The smell reminds me of freshly frosty fading flowers and plants still remaining in gardens from Summer in a gloomy Autumn day. It is a really cuddly scent not too offensive but elegant and confident enough to make a statement on its own, at the first minute I spray it on me I suddenly feel elegant even when I am only wearing jeans.

  39. :

This smelled so COLD on me, and not in a good way. I tried to warm it up by layering with an amber base and spritzing the Iris Absolue on top, but I still couldn’t make it work. Not what I was expecting, after reading so many wonderful reviews. I gladly passed it along!

This perfume is the classiest, most amazing version of Prada Infusion. I love this flanker. It lasts very long and get a lot of compliments. Ebay has some at the moment, gotta not miss the chance for a great discount on the fragrance.

  41. :

I can barely smell this one until I go close to my skin/clothing – and thats not a bad thing. Its not that it’s disappeared, it just sits very close and it’s very nicely blended, nice quality, it’s luxurious in its simplicity in that it doesn’t scream at you. It’s soft and sophisticated, a little powdery but the most delicate of powders. Understated. I’m considering this for my skin scent section. It’s calming and I feel this is where other skin scents have fallen short for me (Perfect Veil, Burberry Baby Touch, Petits et Mamans). I have yet to try the other two (EDP and EDT) so may need to revise this.

I am so in the minority with this one! I blind bought a 100ml bottle, & felt…zip.Hardly there, too soft, too nothing. Happily the friend I gave it to is thrilled with it. Just reinforces how different our taste/chemistry is.

I have and adore Infusion de iris so blindly bought this version. I wasn’t disappointed by any means but can understand how infusion de iris fans may not be over impressed. It is in essence very much like the original albeit slightly lighter and with a note that I can’t quite decipher maybe the benzoin? But I found myself missing that musky, earthy, woody smell that you get with the original and there seems to be slightly less iris? That said it is still a lovely, well made perfume from Prada and I am enjoying their infusion range.

  44. :

By far my favourite perfume!! Feminine, rounded, I can’t imagine a man wearing it !it is for women!!
It is balmy, creamy, easy to wear. And suitable for all seasons!!
As the EDT was a bit too clean smelling, a bit dry, Absolue is overall warmer, but not a strong heady gourmand.
I get compliments every time I wear it!!

  45. :

    4 out of 5

Even thought I’d never wear a feminine perfume, but I did with Prada, unfortunately the homme versions they do are EDT, so less strong, then I took my move and got this one for myself, its powdery and balsamic scent seems ok to wear as a man, besides, I got positive comments about it and felt more confident wearing it again. I really love it.

  46. :

    5 out of 5

I really adore this but don’t wear it as often anymore. It’s a nice rooty iris with a smooth veil of powdery vanilla/benzoin. Not very complex and that cozy vanilla base I’m pretty sure is Prada Candy. It is sweeter and more powdery than the original and I don’t note any incense and none is listed in the notes. The original is a bit more complex but this one is really all about the fuzzy comfort for me.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

Do you want an infusion scent with a little more depth, maybe a splash of benzoin deliciousness of Candy? Then you need to to the Absolue variation. Absolue is the sensualized scent of Infusion d’Iris, the incense is amped up with the addition of vanilla and benzoin, creating an airy oriental scent that never over powers but provides lovely wafts throughout the day. It remains elegant as always but provides a sensuality sometimes you need in a perfume.

I adore this scent. Gorgeous, gorgeous powdery, clean smell. Love it.

Very classy and gorgeously powdery. I smell iris (of course!), a touch of mastic, musk, a faint vanilla, something green, and neroli.
I wear Chanel 19 poudre as my signature scent, and if I got a passing whiff of this on someone else I would have great difficulty telling the difference. I had originally spotted a resemblance between 19 Poudre and the original Infusion d’ iris, but this Eau de parfum absolue bears an even stronger and uncanny resemblance to my beloved eau de parfum.
If I were to compare the two (poudre and IDI EdPA) I’d say IDI EdPA is bolder, less floral than poudre, but still sophisticated. I still prefer poudre, but if they discontinued it, I’d be happy to convert to this.

  50. :

Lovely long lasting cloth scent.Guess it would be wonderful on hair also ,as it doesn’t need to develop and interact with the skin chemistry.
Lasting power and sillage on skin : close to zero absolue 🙂 , at least in winter time .Who knows ,maybe the heat of the summer could help out .

I totally disagree with the former reviewer!! nothing business like or cold about Infusion Absolue !! It is warm. Balmy, enveloping!! it lasts all day on me, and everytime I wear it, I get lots of compliments, it smells that good….where the first version was clean, and dry, this one is rounded, and can be worn all year round, as it isn’t too light, not is it heady. It is in fact quite versatile…feminine, smooth…precious !!! I feel I am wearing a top niche fragrance!!!

As many ladies & gents on here have said before… this is a bit of a ‘serious business’ scent – Nothing cuddly, overly romantic or flirty about it!
It feels stern, polished, sophisticated – like one horrifically busy woman in a pencil skirt & 4-inch high heels flicking open a lighter and viciously inhaling her 11th cigarette of the day during her lunch hour.
There’s a slight hint of a whimsical powder-puff that prevents this scent from going too far into ‘mature, old fashioned’ territory – the benzoin & tonka adding a little bit of warmth to the cold iris.
I can’t smell this one after 10 minutes, but if I put on an article of clothing that I had worn while spritzing this on… it’s there in full force! Definitely a sneaky scent in terms of projection/longevity.
Best uses: Rainy fall days, business meetings, formal occasions, being the HBIC!

The SA who initially introduced me this flanker told me it was “smelled the same”. Not true at all. Gone are the woody green facets so the powdery feel originating from the iris is reinforced instead.
I think the quality of the perfume is really good. It certainly smells expensive, and even the untrained nose can detect different MULTIPLE TYPES of powdery materials. Ie, the iris, vanilla, musk, the different resins… Very plush, very posh, luxurious and sophisticated, and not sickeningly sweet [thank goodness].
As much as admire this I still cannot bear to wear it because there is that underlying synthetic, septic, sharp chemical smell gives me a headache… something like ammonia or commercial disinfectant. I’m guessing it stops the perfume from smelling like incense, thus preserving the powdery facets….
/also a tad too old fashioned perhaps… the velour powder puff association doesn’t leave my head either. A brand new puff that still has the new car smell, smothered in various scented powders.
I love the name and the concept. I want to love this perfume. But why this chemical malodour??? -sigh.

Floral, sweet and sophisticated thanks to the Iris flower. A must have for a romantic date. Amazing lasting power (at least on my skin).

Infusion d’Iris EDP: stylish and slightly prim yet elegant librarian by day. Kittenish heels and perfectly arched eyebrows offer glimpses of sensuality. Pencil behind the ear.
Infusion d’Iris Parfum Absolue: see above, by night, minus pencil, plus two glasses of oaked Chardonnay and one button undone on her blouse. Sexy, but still classy.
I like and have both and can readily see the comparisons with other iris perfumes. The Absolue is most similar to Chanel No.19 Poudre but there is something heavier and darker in this scent in the dry down. The opening is similar to Parfum Initial, but Initial develops in to something more overt, spicier and sexier than this lady.

I have already written a favorable review about the original Infusion d’Iris EDP (I like that better than the EDT which is more floral/less incensey and L’Eau d’Iris which is a floral/minty version). Despite my admiration of the EDP it was a bit too uptight and austere to feel comfortable wearing it and got swapped.
Infusion d’Iris Absolue is a flanker well made; neither so different that it would seem unreasonable to share the same name nor too similar so there would be no point of being around like others. They share some basic traits but there are different perfumes altogether.
It reminds me of the first EDP in the opening because of the bright orange blossom and neroli they have in common but there is no citrus here. It’s apparent from the first moment that Absolue will be a warmer scent.
Both are powdery but the original turns woody/incensey while Absolue has none of these traits. Instead I get sweet, warm, nutty and buttery iris. I would describe it as a softer, less spicy and more contemporary version of L’Heure Bleue.
Stays close to the skin and seems to last less than the original or I get this impression because it could be mistaken for a skin scent after a certain point and that’s not the case with the first EDP. I don’t get the same clarity in the transition of notes here, the lines are blurred and the whole composi
