Gosh, I am apparently the first person to review this fragrance. I’m not sure why no one else has been moved to write about this because it is a superb fragrance.
It is very unusual. Its not flowery. Its not spicy. Its not sweet at all so definitely not gourmand. You might think that the lemon note would add a fresh citrus quality but it doesn’t. This lemon is more like lemon oil on old wood. It is rich and classic. The vetiver and sandalwood bring this fragrance down solidly on the earthy side but not in a dirty way.
I could certainly see this fragrance as being evocative of a magical room, full of old books and old woods, warm but intellectual, calm and green but with a subtle, wry sense of humor.
Looking at times and occasions to wear this I would wear it ALL THE TIME. I would probably not wear this for a night out clubbing or to a seriously formal occasion but, other than that, it can go from a work environment to a quiet evening at home to a casual dinner with friends easily. Since this lacks any vanilla or floral notes I suspect many people would tend to classify this a masculine scent but anybody could wear this. Its simply a great all around fragrance that doesn’t conform to current trends.
