i think it is one of the best cheap fragrances i ever smelled. very classy and misterious, very “black”, younger than terre d’hermes(there are few similarities between them). the scent is better than many overpriced parfumes, b.i.b. is a great deal in my opinion! sillage and longevity are average, better for night but u can wear it in every occasion, better during fall and winter. too underrated. grazie mille!

Similar in concept to Terr D’Hermes perhaps, but quite different in execution regardless of the similarity of notes. This is dryer and more austere than TDH which is actually a little sweeter and fruitier. Byblos in Black is an almost austere and slightly bitter grapefruit, that sits closer to the skin, more reserved in character than TDH. Upon drydown, the two smell nothing alike with Byblos fairly quickly becoming a skin scent that is really quite lovely.

    Byblos in Black Personal Review
My Scoring criteria: Scent 40%, Longetivity 30%, Sillage: 20%, Value for Money: 10%
    Score:
Scent: 90. The scent is very similar to the legendary Terre D’Hermes which is one of my favourite fragrance of all time. But Byblos in Black smells a little spicier at the top note (immediately after spray), after that it’s a little hard to distinguish the two
Longetivity: 88. It lasts 8-10 hrs on my skin. One of the most long-lasting frags i’ve ever used
Sillage: 82. People nearby will notice the scent, but the radiation doesn’t quite reach 6ft but it’s very good
Value For Money: 81. In my country, BiB is around 70% cheaper than Terre D’Hermes. Very good value for money for its sophisticated scent
    Overall Score: 87

If you enjoy Terre Hermes, Byblos Black is damn close with a slightly more peppery base. Terre has more of citrus/orange top note at first spray with more a woodsy vib. After this juice settles, if you did a sniff test you can tell the difference but it composition is very close
Both pepper and cedar makes this juice ABOUSOTLEY SEXY! There’s just a hint of grapefruit which helps to soften the spicy peppery blend. There’s a smig of sweet/earthy vib of patchouli. The only note I’m not able to pick up is Neriol.
Longevity and Silage is excellent lasting well past 8hrs when I spray it 2x on my skin.
    Finally,
Out of all Byblos’s fragrance, this one is BEAST. A sophisticated and confident juice, best during the fall and winter months. Well made fragrance..7.5/10 try it…you won’t regret it. Two thumbs up

رایحه تلخ و تا حدودی گرم تند ابتدایی آن پس از یکساعت ملایمتر شده و در نهایت نت اصلی بسیار شیک و خاص را تا 7-8 ساعت بجا میگذارد.

Blind bought based on reviews here.
I use my judgement (and nose), and also the opinions of those near and dear to me. And, I just don’t get all the positive reviews. The first time I wore this, a dear friend ask, “were you spraying weed killer”? My sister simply stated, “you stink”. To me this is very green, chemical, industrial, . . . pure bug spray!
Like they say, “opinions are like assholes . . .everyone has one”. Next time I will make sure to sample first because all sphincters are created different.

I wasn’t looking for any new perfume when I stumbled with this frag and decided to test it. One spray on my arm and I left. I then simply spent that day sniffing that arm. absolutely lovely fragrance. Classy in a loveable kinda way. lightly sweet and very powdery. I love it, i love it, i love it. and the price is good too!! wow, definitely gonna buy it this weekend when I go there again…
    edit:
There something really addicting with this frag. I can’t believe how it’s captivated me. I have dozens of frags but this one is the only one that really makes me feel good no matter what is my mood.

I think that ‘Daim in the pyramid means ‘Sueded Leather’ (daim is the French word for it). I don’t think there’s a connection with Daim candies!

This one lived up to my expectations, really. I agree that nothing could replace Terre, it is indeed more elaborated than In Black, but it’s money well spent if you can’t afford to buy the original. Vetiver, citrus and pepper: they’re all there like in Terre. Many say the sweet notes are more dominant; I can’t go along with that, as Terre has always smelled a lot mellower on my skin than most of the other wearers I know. As Frederic Malle once said, a fragrance is a collaboration between the wearer and the scent, and I’m happy about the grateful partnership I’ve made with this one too. Recommended.

I just cracked opened the box and gave myself a liberal spray to the arm. The opening is definitely reminiscent of TDH but Byblos Black has MUCH softer wood accords. The sweet citrus notes take very little time to fade in. I like it! $30 for a 3.4 oz bottle of an eau de parfum is not bad.

My comments concerning TDH still stand, but I ordered Black Byblos anyway based on the reviews of others and the note breakdown. TDH is very in your face, and I sincerely hope that Black Byblos offers a similar DNA but is less pungent. We’ll see after it arrives this week.

really, this is twin brother from the terre, but with low projection and silage. Nevertheless, a gift.

I just got my bottle in the post about 30 minutes ago!
I hid it and put it on in another room to test.
My current lover in the other room, after about 5 minutes asked if I was trying to seduce her?………. Naturally I had to say Yes!…….. She replied:”Well it is working”!…………. I think I will buy two more bottles, while my currency is relatively high….
Incidentally it does smell like my favorite “Terre d’Hermes”…but at a good price.. Wow bargain!

For me this is the most confusing scent ever. I’ve got TdH and don’t find them at all similar. Thare’s too much sweetness going on, and cannot smell any pepper either. At least it doesn’t smell cheap, that was my biggest fear. Also it seems to reseamble Guerlain L’instant, which is in my other arm.

  19. :

    3 out of 5

A surprisingly good and well blended alternative to Terre d’Hermes!
For those who love TdH, this Byblos will be a smell from the heaven – or a blasphemy!
I usually don’t like perfume copies – but Byblos in Black it’s not a pure and simple copy of TdH (even it is clear that you will have TdH in mind every time you’ll wear BiB).
Thanks to the perfumer Flavigny, BiB is a perfume on his own merits, with more pepper and dried herbs than TdH – but IT IS NOT Terre d’Hermes.
Good longevity and sillage “comme il faut”. Designed in Italy, made in San Marino. Plus a reasonable price.
    A deserved 8,3/10

It doesn’t last long, but it smells good. In comparison with “Terre by Hermes” Byblos is much more cheaper with the same smell.

This reminds me (and many people here as it seems) of Terre d’Hermes. It features the same treatment of geranium as a central theme: green, bitter and kind of dirty. The similarity stops here however because there is no juicy citrus but rather a sulfurous remnant of grapefruit. There is no deep noticeable vetiver either or the famous flint note from Terre in this one. This takes the central geranium theme and dips it into sweetness. Among the sweet stuff I feel there must be a strong rosewood note, some fir balsam and a clean musk. Where Terre comes off as a merciless green blade (with which one will slay his -business- enemies and conquer their women) this one shows vulnerability and perhaps a bit of an inner conflict. I could even call it bipolar.
The overall feel on my skin is green, soapy, sweet with hints of tea and dried herbs. Not my cup of tea but not a bad tea at all (although probably not as well crafted as Terre). It has a very high weird factor, almost niche. Worth trying if only to see how weird an inexpensive perfume by an unknown perfumer can be.
PS: Try layering it with a clean rose note and what you’ll get will be a very unisex rose garden! Magic!?!?!?

it’s TERRE D’HERMES with more pepper. a little soapy, very office style.

Johnny Buoy and shogun are right on the money, this is very much like Terre D’Hermes (another cheapy that smells a bit like the Hermes is UDV Action). It is also a lot cheaper, I got 100ml for $15 on sale. It has been a while since I tried the T D’H and did not care too much for it, but I really like the Byblos, I think it is because there is not the strong orange in Byblos. On me this warm woody rich fragrance lasts a long time, though the sillage isn’t great.

… I just bought it last night, as my wife gave that to me as a gift. First I used that on my skin, the fancy smell (which I hate the most) embraced on my nose. I agree, it’s only for daylight work office hours perfumes …

If you like Terre d’Hermes, then I am sure you will like this one.
I bought a bottle that was on special today. I was pleasantly surprised.
I would say this is not for the young night cluber, but is ideal for professional office workers.
Apart from reminding me of Terre d’Hermes, it also reminds me of Montale Red Vetiver.

Don’t ‘stay away’, try it. It’s not my type either but it’s actually ok.
It starts with light citruses and a hard pepper note on a woody body with a subtle resin. The grapefruit dies off for the drydown so it nit harsh, just pleasant.
If you like Marc Jacobs Bang, this is a lil more wearable.
