On me Ile D’amour is a gorgeous but not overpowering mix of florals, heavy on the romance and the island being only metaphorical as I don’t get any salty/sea salt notes at all! It is a lovely day perfume with a decent lasting power. I have the perfume version. A very wearable scent for a long weekend.

I recently had ile d’amour and its the Parfum version i guess. It has a very inoffensive but strong and fresh scent thats safe to wear anywhere. It is more of a spring/summer day scent. I can pick out every note and i just love this one

I recently found a 1oz perfum bottle of this when my mom dropped off a few of my old boxes of stuff from when I used to live with my parents… I remembered she had given this to me when she came back from one of her business trips in France.
The bottle was untouched 🙂 I had never used it, so I just had to spray myself with it – and now I know why I never used it… It’s sooo overpowering and totally not my type of perfume. I can definitely smell the quality, so to say, and the notes seem very natural – but oh dear Lord, it is getting me almost nauseous..
In my opinion it’s a rather mature, elegant and serious scent, even with its freshness.
It reminds me quite a bit of Elisabeth Arden – Sunflowers which was my favourite scent as a young teen surprizingly but also which I cannot stand anymore.
So this fragrance, although undoubtedly a quality one, will have to find another owner.

smells like all the things I love: watermelon, sea, flowers! It is a soft but long-lasting smell. I’ve had it for a month now and I am totally in love.

    Light melon fragrance.
Smells almost like L’eau d’Issey by Issey Miyake. And it’s not cool at all.
Not my type of fragrances. I used to like them when I was younger.

To me, Ile d`Amour is an exceedingly romantic perfume. I bought it in France so this perfume always smells quintessentially French to me. The perfume opens with blooms of rose, lily-of-the-valley and osmanthus and jasmine. The salty sea breeze note gently caresses the summery florals, which I love, but others might not appreciate as much. The drydown is beautiful soft amber and musk. When I close eyes, I can imagine myself in a lush private garden, admiring the gentle undulating waves shimmering in the sun. The flowers are lush and in full bloom, butterflies are aflutter and you can feel the salty kiss of the sea breeze on your skin. The sillage and longevity of this is moderate and it lasts for about 6 hours on my skin. I definitely recommend this perfume, it’s simply a French vacation in a bottle!

Gosh, this is one beauitful perfume. My sister was in France a couple of weeks ago and she and her friends toured the Fragonard warehouse. She bought Ile d’amour for herself and Belle de Nuit for my mom. When I smelled Ile d’amour on my sister I fell in love, it’s a beautiful blend of floral and fruity, yet also aquatic…. it almost has a citrusy quality to it, it is the perfect blend. I was so in love with this that I googled it and to my pleasant surprise it can be bought on the Fragonard website in EDP and EDT. My sister has the EDP and while the sillage is soft, you get wafts of it walking near her. I just may have to purchase it. It is expensive, but after smelling this I cannot be content with anything else.
EDIT: I now own this, it came in the mail today. When I sprayed it I just couldn’t believe how sort of pure and non-synthetic this smells. It reminds me of something and I just can’t put my finger on it, but it’s something from home. I am from Argentina, and maybe this smells like a perfume my grandmother used to wear, or maybe it smells of the flowers there, or maybe of the sea… I am not sure that it is sexy or daring or cute, but I know it’s beautiful. You know you’ve found a masterpiece when a perfume is much more than just a scent, when it embodies a sort of essence in itself. By accident I’ve stumbled across this, and it’s almost sort of personal

Imagine a French lady swimming in the ocean with white flowers in her hair.
I received this perfume which came in a limited edition Eiffel Tower bottle.
I agree with the L’eau d’Issey comparisons, only this is cleaner and easier to wear. For a summer fragrance, it also brings out the crispness in winter. Truly breath taking.

Takes me on a journey, to the sea, it’s a hot summers day, a light breeze and a waft of freshness.
Reminds me a little of Rain, splash by Marc Jacobs.
Discovered today, that I can get it in the UK from Marks and Spence, online, EDT same price as Nice airport.

This is very special. The best perfume ever! When I smelled this at first I thought wow! Never smelled a perfume like this. It is beautiful, fresh and aquatic, I love aquatic scents and this is the best, so well balanced. Full of quality. The best of Fragonard.

This perfume reminds me of visiting the South of France for a holiday. It seems to be quite strong on me so I can’t wear a lot, but I do like it.

This perfume will always remind my of my French class because my teacher always wore this, and it filled the classroom with a part of France. Maybe one day I’ll experience France in person, but for now I’ll survive with this beautiful fragrance. 🙂

Some years ago my interest to Ile d’Amour led me to Fragrantica for the first time.
My mother brought many perfumes from Fragonard museum in Grasse and gifted this one to me.
Ile d’Amour is a glorious day scent, so romantic and so French. It is really all about love.
The tender florals with a touch of sea water create the picture of a small private garden at the seaside. Maybe the town of Grasse itself has inspired the master who composed this masterpiece (I regret so much that I don’t know the name of the perfumer).
Indeed, if most famous perfumes are more likely to bring associations with big cities like Milan, New York, of course Paris, Ile d’Amour tells you of a beautiful province that is far from the “big life”, from social events and fashion but it has its own story full of timeless charm.
That is the feeling that makes Ile d’Amour so special for me. I live from one big city to another, but my soul will always be coming back here to my dear little garden at the sea…
A thousand thanks to you, Fragonard.

    Air-Water-Earth…Ethereal composition, delightful scent.
It’s like lulling waves of the sea, lilac aroma opens the composition with smell of sea water, lightly touch of rose and amber gives a feeling of bitter sea air. Jasmine and musk provide caressing and romantic feeling in the drydown. Soft, semi-sweet jasmin aroma with a hint of amber and musk.
Just close your eyes and feel the rhythmic pulse and murmure of the ocean..:)

Ile d’Amour to me smells like a deliciously balanced combination of green apple and rose.
There are of course other beautiful florals in this composition, however I sense that the rose features most prominently here.
In a way, Ile d’Amour is aquatic, but only in a very subtle way. Although I’ll admit that I found this fragrance quite linear at first, after multiple wears, Ile d’Amour is quite complex.
Opening with a rather Summery bouquet of rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, osmanthus and sea salt, and an unlisted note, apple, there is something very intriguing about it as it settles into the skin.
The sillage is quite strong in the beginning, and the overall scent somewhat tart-like and bold. Towards the heart, while still maintaining its freshness, it becomes a little softer, with the florals becoming a touch sweeter.
The drydown is a beautiful, ambery powder with a slight hint of musk. The scent is that of an elegant lady, evoking images of both the seaside and picturesque, period-style mansions.
It’s not every day that I happen to find a fragrance with such an oceanic feel that doesn’t come across as being synthetic or odd on my skin. Ile d’Amour reminds me of a much more floral and classic version of L’eau par Kenzo pour Femme.
I believe Ile d’Amour when translated means island of love, which is quite a suitable name for this scent. It does have that ever so romantic feel, mixed with a little touch of dreaminess.

It is a romantic perfume. It smells of roses. It reminds me of ‘eau d’issey’ of Issey Miyake. My boyfriend is not very keen on it, says it smells old, like old furniture. I don’t know why has this effect on him, but I do like it a lot
