a sweeter version of the devilishly difficult to find neonatura cocoon perfume.
Definitely chocolatey gourmande. I’m not getting much depth from it right now…i’ll try again later.

ILAYA is my first experience with the house of Isabel Deorroisme. I’d describe this as a vanilla-amberish perfume, although from the notes it should perhaps smell like something else. Aside from a tinge of benzoin in the drydown, none of the notes listed seems clearly identifiable to my nose: myrrh, coffee, incense, cardamom, ginger… Instead, this perfume has a homogenized quality, seeming to me smooth and golden brown, with a slightly sweet (not at all cloying) comfort-scent demeanor.
I wouldn’t describe this as a “thin” oriental, but it’s also not very heavy or very spicy. ILAYA is a simple, pleasant cold weather composition with medium sillage. Unfortunately, the longevity is quite poor on my skin.

This is an ok perfume. It starts off strangely a lot like Coty Vanilla Musk. If you’ve ever smelled this perfume you get the picture. Then it evolves into a Coty Vanilla Musk mixed with a Coty Dulce Vanilla with a touch of incense. It’s nice but strange in a good way. I can definitely see this as being a winter scent. You might get away with it in spring but not much of a summer or fall scent. I smelled Ilaya then I went back and smelled my Vanilla Musk. Same smell just different aftertaste. Ilaya has a Dulce Vanilla aftertaste like a bittersweet vanilla like vanilla extract on an incense stick and CVM has a light fresh vanilla drydown almost aquatic light vanilla.

I ordered it, unpacked it , tried it – and was happy that Derroisne has a return policy. I thought it was extremely “stinky”, almost like sweat, and could not trace any incense or myrrh which I usually like.

If I could afford it I would take a flight to France and buy it because that is the only way to get it as it seems. If you want to buy it online you have to live in France. I read that they don´t ship to other countries. It´s really a shame. A nice member sent me a sample of it and the fragrance is gorgeous. I want it!!

Ilaya has three levels:
A rich, warm, deep oriental base. Plenty of earthy, sunbaked, resinous woods & insence.
A gourmand mid-level, sweet & slightly smokey caramel-cappuccino served with cardamom & vanilla cookies.
An airy, clean & refreshing note that mixes with the ginger & spices to create a heat-haze that hovers above the skin.
Ilaya delights me! It keeps me guessing & refuses to be pigeon-holed into any olfactory group – is it light or heavy? Gourmand or woody? Rich or clean? Created from an ancient recipe or born of a more modern mother earth?
My wardrobe would not be complete without it. A must-try!

This is FANTASTIC stuff!
Woody, warm, rich & honey-sweet with a suprisingly refreshing & lightly spicy edge. It is both delicate yet has substance. It has foody nuances yet feels like it comes straight from a sun-baked mother earth.
I aquired a vial of this magic juice from Lillybee & knew straight away that I needed a full bottle of this warm & welcoming fragrance for my wardrobe.
I think this will need some wearing & thinking time before I even attempt to write a review worthy of this amazing hidden gem of a scent.

Very beautiful soft oriental, starts like spiced tea with a hint of honey, melting in a gorgeous coffee scented base/the coffee note is not sharp/.The flowers are not very distinct to my nose, but I feel much the myrrh and benzoin and I love it!

I’ve just recieved a bottle, and wasn’t disappointed. Nice warm smell, a thin border between sweet and oriental. Coffee with milk, ylang-ylang make sweetness and spices dilute it. I like it very much!

In my quest of the HG of fragrances, I happened upon this one and immediately bought a 50ml bottle of it on Ebay. It’s a lovely, sparkling, deep, sensual, feminine scent that reminds me of a golden brown cafe macchiato. It’s creamy with a sharp edge (ginger – ylang-ylang combo) and at the same time smooth and nutty. Like coffee at its best.
The longer I wear this scent, the warmer and woodier it becomes reminiscent of L’Instant EDP from Guerlain. On my skin Ilaya has the same honey-vanilla infused woody-ambery note (the benzoin) I also detect in L’Instant only this accord in Ilaya is woody and aromatic and not as floral and creamy as in L’Instant, where it’s made up of vanilla and honey only.
It’s an eau de toilette so can be worn in warm weather. It’s light and suprisingly transparent but its presence cannot be ignored, it sneaks upon you and entices without you being aware of it. This will be a staple item in my collection.
