My first experience of frankincense as a fragrance to wear. Also my first gender-bender sampling!
I found the aura of incense really comfortable, surprisingly. Normally I associate incense with coldness, vastness, echoing, gloom and solemnity, but this was more warm and understated, although always present. None of the choking harsh clouds of church fumes. More like the cosiness of a corner in a small chapel, near the pages of old music books, seated on aging velvet as the morning sun warms the hues in the oft-polished wood.
The other notes in the fragrance took a back seat to the frankincense, but shaped it nicely. (Can’t think of a better word than ‘shaped’ – difficult to describe) I’m finding the fragrances I’m sampling from Bud Parfums to be so beautifully blended.
A gentleman’s fragrance easily worn by ladies.

This is pretty much the perfect blend of smoke and amber. It’s a bit strange and not the easiest to wear but it will appeal to any fan of the 2 mentioned accords. The depth and complexity gives off an Amouage vibe. From my dab on vial the sillage is enormous and longevity is at 7-8 hours. This house could do some nice things if they expanded. After reading the review below, I will never purchase a bottle but it was great to sample. BTW, it reminds me of Sideris as well.

I have ordered blind based on the notes. The scent is close to what I’ve expected just a lot better, with an unexpected dose of mystery. The name helps get that association, too.
Note separation is good but I enjoy it more when I just ignore what is in it and just let it linger as a single accord.
The delivered fragrance is very high in concentration which makes is really good value for money. With proper packaging this could be sold in exclusive boutiques all over the world, it is that good.
Unfortunately Bud did not have the option of delivering it in a spray bottle and they insist on dabbing – I hate dabbing. The bottle with the glass stopper let almost half of the fragrance escape, I will have to put it back into the industrial looking bottle it arrived in. I will only repurchase if it is offered in a proper bottle or when I am set up to dilute and decant it.
IF.. if only.

If “If” is as good as the 1960s film, “If” there’s no way it can’t be great !

101)Agrume en tête les premières minutes puis Encens très très boisé-fumé, arrondi par le santal et le labdanum. Avec Satyr c’est mon préféré dans cette collection.
très peu de sillage
Citrus in head the first few minutes and then incense very smoked-wooded, rounded by sandalwood and labdanum. With Satyr it s my favorite in this brand.
skin-scent

The second I’ve tried. This is better. I like the smokiness, I know I’ve smelt it before somewhere. Theres the slightest of any citrus accords in there.
The way it appears to me is that the frankincense is the main attraction, the citruses are in the background, which is usually the opposite. The resins are the heart and the woods are the base.
I can imagine me wearing it, rarely as it’s not something I’m used to, and only in cold weather. Call me buttoned down, but I’d find it slightly had to wear by itself, I need to soften it up with some florals to be able to wear it more often.
