This is a beautiful gourmand oil perfume based on dark chocolate note. It has also great versatility, I can wear it year round easily and it doesn’t become cloying.
The opening is quite pungent with very earthy patchouli and woody notes. After few minutes the patchouli calms down and a beautiful dark chocolate note emerges. At this point it feels semi-gourmand. Wait a few minutes and more notes are comming to the surface becoming a delicious smell. I get sweet amber, the vanilla is more aromatic than sweet. This scent is not overly sweet. It feels just as you opened a package with dark chocolate 72% with extra vanilla and with a faint caramelized vibe, I guess it’s from the combination with amber. As time passes it feels like dark chocolate 50%, vanilla becomes stronger, the caramel effect dissapears. Overall it feels natural. I also get traces of jasmine and rose, faint traces of ylang ylang and mild musk.
It is long lasting with moderate sillage. Projection is low, I guess because it’s an oil.
The bottle itself is a work of art. Beautiful and heavy.
They are not similar scents but I get some vibe from Tom Ford Black Orchid but this Ajmal is more suitable for men imo and much more wearable and versatile. If you find TFBO cloying or feminine, try this gem.
