Description

Guerlain L’Homme L’Eau Boisée is a new and unexpected spin on the popular masculine Guerlain L’Homme. The new edition is taking the direction of a woody chypre, but the effect is illusory: the backbone of the fragrance is vetiver, the exotic grass from Southeastern Asia which gives its refreshing quality to many classy masculine colognes, none the least than Guerlain’s own classic Vetiver. In Guerlain L’Homme L’Eau Boisée the vetiver is well-behaved, creating the tonality of a noble chypre fragrance with an underscoring of subtle smokiness.

It is available as 80 ml EDT. Guerlain L’Homme L’Eau Boisée was launched in 2012. The nose behind this fragrance is Thierry Wasser.

    Grown ass scent.
Not a huge fan of vetiver, but this is a great balance of citrus and vetiver/green. Safe, mature, quality.

I just got one of the old 2.5-oz bottles with the clear cap (as pictured above), formula 06364M. Has anyone owned that one and compared that formulation to the one that is going into the new standardized Guerlain masculine bottles (what was the HR bottle that Homme was recently relaunched in and that L’Instant is now being sold in)?
Was there any reformulation prior to switch to the new bottle, or is the formula still coded 06364M in the new bottle?

Wow…what a great fragrance. This is the first fragrance I have blind bought based on referrals and reviews here on Fragrantica, and I collectively thank you all for it. A massive home run.
Basically the best mojito (lime, mint, rum) you have ever experienced with some green, vetiver, and woods to ground it. It doesn’t smell alcoholic at all, and is very pleasant. Perfectly suited for the office…it exudes quiet confidence and class.
Longevity and sillage are both good…quite good for a citrus EDT. I can get a full 8 hour workday and still smell it on my skin.
I can see how some would compare this to Terre d’Hermes. I agree if you removed the flint and orange notes from Terre and added in a minty lime, you would come close to Eau Boisee.
I have both the original squat bottle and the newer rectangular bottle, and there do seem to be a few differences. The woods seem stronger in the older original bottle whereas the lime and mint seem to last longer in the newer bottle. Both are amazing, and I could see myself using the newer bottle in the summer, and the older bottle in the winter.
If Guerlain Homme is a metrosexual city-dwelling male artist, then Eau Boisee is his well-rounded brother that can class it up in the city, but can handle himself in the countryside too, and has seen the world. It inspires confidence at all levels without being overwhelming.
If you love Terre d’Hermes (or TDH L’eau) and Guerlain Vetiver (or Homme), chances are you will love this one too. If you don’t blind buy you should definitely get a sample or decant.

Beautiful fragrance. This is so fresh and sparkly. This one is my formal ‘dumb reach’ for hot summer days, where Mercedez Benz Cologne is my casual ‘dumb reach’ for the hottest of summer days.
Unfortunately I am unable to smell the fragrance after about an hour. But I am 100% sure it lasts a good while. I get nose-blind to all of my citrus-heavy fragrances, after about an hour.
l’Eau Boisée smells like the mature, well-dressed brother of l’Homme.

    The “fresh” vetiver…
This is a very versatile summer fragrance. I have tried the original Guerlain Homme and I find that this fragrance is less icy and minty and more woody. It’s as if the woods have been amped up and given prominence in the composition. I still get the lime, mint, rum and geranium but the vetiver and cedarwood are stronger here.
I can see this working in formal and casual settings. It’s one for spring and summer for sure, perfect on summer nights and even cooler summer days. It’s a well made fragrance at a good price point. I find it quite pleasant and I don’t think anyone would dislike this if you wore it. It’s a good complimentary fragrance to the original Guerlain Homme and a slightly brighter, woodier version of the Intense version. If you like a fresher kind of vetiver (one perfect for spring and summer) then give this a try.

Nice masculine summer fragrance for a gentleman. Smells like an upscale barbershop with it’s soapy citrusy composition. Too masculine for my feminine wife to wear according to her and I agree. Perfect for the office in a suit, more formal than casual, but really suitable for any occasion. Wear this on a date with your special lady and you’ll smell like pure class. I dislike unisex fragrances and only wear fragrances clearly made for more masculine men and Boisee does not disappoint.

A woman could easily wear this on a warm day. It’s very fresh, zingy and juicy. I wish though that I had been able to sniff the first formulation. That one sounds amazing. This is all lime, vetiver and wood notes at the start. It’s pretty weak. I can see now why it’s a cheapy.
Once settled then you start to pick out the herbal notes. It’s a shame the mint and lime disappear so quickly as they are my favourite notes in this but that’s their nature. The dry down is more about the zingy geranium, Vetiver and wood notes. I can sort of make out the rum but it’s very low key on me.
For a cheapy it smells very good and not cheap at all. You would have to use like a body spray though to make much impact.

There is a HUGE difference between the Wood Capped bottles and the ones with plastic caps. The vetiver and rum come out in the opening at once and it’s really powerful, giving off an amazing spicy scent while the clear-topped one doesn’t and is much weaker. Be careful about this, the reformulation can’t even compare to the old one.

  10. :

    3 out of 5

Boisee is a special fragrance. The top lime note in this is just amazing. It mixes so well with the vetiver and grass notes to form a delightful combination of freshness and herbal woodiness. The rum note is discreet, only a hint, but adds depth and character to the whole. My initial reaction wouldn’t be to call this a summer fragrance due to its depth and smokiness, but it could easily be worn to a well-dressed summer evening affair. At its heart, Boisee is vernal masculine sophistication in an attractive glass flacon.

I really like the scent, especially the drydown! It could be a great addition to your spring/summer collection if you enjoy lime, mint and vetiver.
For me Guerlain L’Homme L’Eau Boisée is absolutely amazing! A perfect combination !

This is for woods lovers. Very dry, bitter and masculine. The lime makes it smooth and wearable and there is ton of soft woody/pencil shaving notes going on.
It is more wearable than Terre de Hermes and the vetiver is not prominant.
I expected a better one from Guerlain. To me, Tom ford grey vetiver EDT, Terre de Hermes EDT are better choices although Homme Eau Boisee is safer.
Yet, it is a lovely fragrance; very affordable/discounted, safe and pleasant and got me nice complements.

an interesting fragrance, light and pleasant, refined, too lime, does not feel enough vetiver. there is a slight spicy breath, very interesting.

I like this one. I didnt at first because its different than what you get in the stores. It smelt like celery. But that goes to show Im a novice in perfumery and alot to still experience. This salty green fragrance works really well here. I am wearing it now on a first date in the Minnesota cold. Yes this is the one that got the call. Fresh, earthy, smooth, linear, different. Unexpected Winner.

On me this is a classier version of Creed’s Bois du Portugal without the lavender note. A little lighter and softer than the Creed. Good for year round wear. A winner.

As a citrus/woody, it immediately reminded me of Acqua di Parma Cedro di Taormina so I thought I’d do a side by side review. The citrus in AdP is a general bitter citrus accord whereas the Guerlain has a single precise spike of lime in the gamut. Again with AdP has general woodsy accord whereas the Guerlain has a more discrete woody note/s. The overall vibe of the AdP is a high quality, natural, fragrance for fragrance sake that invoked images of sunshine and nature whereas the Guerlain is leaning towards a classic aftershave i.e. it could be 5% Aramis and it has something bordering on a soapy/powderiness. The AdP is fuller, denser and more complex whereas the Guerlain is more attention grabbing (most probably from the Iso E Super)
I personally much prefer the AdP and think it’s just a higher quality scent although I could see how a layman (male) on the street might go for the Guerlain because it is more of a standard, traditionally masculine scent. It has scored higher on reviews here.

This has been un-discontinued! Found one today, newly designed bottle like the Vetiver one, so must be… plus this, with the new design is listed on the G website. Made myself a promise back in the day, that if I found any of these three green versions previously in square Pininfarina flasks, that I’d buy one straight away, so I did. Even better, as I was in the hunt for a cooler weather (incl. fall or spring or even Nordic summer) sober gentleman’s scent, that could enter a meeting room if necessary, this was just a perfect find… 4.5 out of 5 like stated above. If you’re like me on who’s skin turns the perfume towards the sweet instead of neutral or sour, and if a pure citrus scent (which I love) is just too summery right now, find this. It keeps projecting longer than expected and keeps its citrus and mint as well. Dry, sober, woodsy, vetivery, gentlemanly, but also really positive and energetic.
Edit: maybe the ‘mint’ is something more cooling like menthol, or peppermint. So zesty citruses, cool menthol/peppermint, recently chopped young wood, and fresh greens. This one has grown on me and sits on the favourites pedestal.

trust guerlain to do vetiver really well. I have this on one hand and the original lhomme on the other. the original is noticeably sweeter. LB has a very sharp, clean woody smell almost has the same affect as pine. Ideal imo for very hot weather. It also feels like its projecting better and will last longer.
For the price this is a very good purchase and I will shortly add it to my collection.

This is a nice citrus/vetiver fragrance. It has a touch of the original Guerlain vetiver dry clean grassiness. It starts with a similar nicely bitter lime note on top which smoothly transitions into the natural vetiver.
Even though this is a citrus heavy scent it is very smooth. It gets an extra bit of freshness from a noticeable natural non-mentholated mint note that compliments the green notes. It lasts quite a while as well. This is not a sillage monster at all but manages to leave a subtle scent trail when you move about.
It is a soft, calm vetiver. Natural, dry green and slightly woody and lightly peppered to the end. Bright summer/spring fragrance.
EDIT : This has become, easily, hands down, my go to green and light Vetiver fragrance. It wears like a nice white dress shirt – not center stage and not out of place – just comfortable. Great vetiver fragrance.

Clean vetiver and citrus. Light and very work appropriate. A good replacement for Terre d’Hermes if you want something a bit less bitter but that fills basically the same use.
Longevity is a bit under average for me (4-6 hours) and projection is light after the first 30-45 minutes, so a solid office scent that won’t offend.
7.5/10 for me. For under $35 it can be a daily office wear scent that, if you tolerate vetiver, you will like.

Zara just launched one very similar to this – Zara Norrland. I’d say it is close to this and close to Declaration

A very good chypre and quite original, too. Having loved the GH and GH Intense, I must say this is quite different, but I love it even more! Even though it lacks the latter’s sillage and sits closer to the skin. Maybe the listed notes are similar, especially in the opening, but the accents are put very differently. Here the lime is dominant and the mint becomes its shy companion. In the drydown the rum is not as distinguishable to my nose as in some other rumy fragrances, but there is certainly some vetiver and the woody note that is unusually cheerful, probably due to other elements in the composition which I am unable to name.

Fantastic opening, really lovely. Beyond the 20 minute mark I couldn’t (from memory) distinquish this with Terre D’Hermes. I wish the introduction could last! I thought I’d found my perfect fragrance…

This has “Summer” written all over it. Fresh, citrus, clean, light woods, touch of aquatic, green and just pure class. Reminds me of a fresher Terre d’Hermes as others have indicated. It’s suitable for virtually any occasion whether the office, suit/formal, semi-casual, summer wedding, lunch meetings, etc. It’s definitely more of a daytime fragrance but can work at night easily. Ideally for the warmer months. I can see a guy rocking this on an evening date with the wife/girlfriend at a nice restaurant.
Unquestionably, when somebody smells this on you most of them will find it to be a high quality scent. If you want to project class this summer on a date or evening out looking for single ladies — L’Eau Boise will get you noticed in a good way. 2 to 3 sprays is all you need with this beauty on chest and/or neck.

Lime mojito with quality vetiver and woods. The lime is the best lime I’ve smelled in a perfume and isn’t citrusy or sharp. This is smoothe and delicious without being a gourmand. This is fresh, subtle, and just one of THE best fresh summer scents I’ve ever smelled. This is a masterpiece in perfumery and one of the best values for your money. This will work in heavy heat as well. Something you’d be hard pressed to find in a perfume. This lasts a long time as well, on my skin in ridiculously hot southern heat it does at least 6 hours. In normal weather it does 8+. For a fresh citrus scent, this is incredible performance. I can’t get over the lime note. It’s so good. This is no child’s play scent. This is a masterful concoction of sophistication, class, and professionalism in perfumery, as expected from Guerlain.
You know that feeling when you first sniff a perfume and you start to smile because you know it’s incredible? It’s a rare feeling. Lots of scents are nice, but they don’t drop your jaw or put a sheepish smile on your face like some scents do. You don’t even have to wait for a drydown or anything to judge the scent. You know it’s special. This was love at first sniff for me. It’s now in my Top 5, also on first sniff. This is a bit of a linear scent. But I don’t mind because the absolutely drop dead gorgeous smoothe lime stays for the entire ride, which I’d have no other way. I cannot stress enough how good this lime is. Do not make the mistake in thinking this is a sharp citrus note. This is an expertly blended lime and woods. This is such a green fragrance without the bitterness. Just the BEST green I’ve experienced since GIT by Creed. This is a more wearable Tere D’Hermes with lime instead of orange. A fraction of the cost without any decrease in quality. I dare say this might be the best fragrance to buy for the price from a western house, period. Try this as soon as possible. You owe it to yourself to experience this kind of sophistication and expert craftsmanship in perfumery. Incredible spring/summer scent that should be in everyone’s arsenal. Literally my only complaint about this fragrance is the plastic cap instead of the vintage wooden cap, which far more fits this fragrances persona.
EDIT: I’m testing this fragrance with another one, Ferrari Uomo, which I also reviewed. Guerlain on one hand, and Ferrari on the other hand. After spraying 2 sprays and waiting 2 hours, then reapplying with another 2 sprays, this has now hit the 12 hour mark of longevity on my skin and is now a faint skin scent. I’m sure the reapply after 2 hours helped make this happen. To be clear, this is 12 hours since reapplying. So 14 hours total on my skin, but technically 12 hours since I reapplied. I think the scent will be gone completely within the next hour. Fantastic longevity on this juice. This scent is worth every penny and more.
    Longevity: 12/10
    Scent: 10/10
    Silage: 7/10
    Projection: 6/10
    Value: 100/10
    Personal Appreciation: Masterpiece/10

I have had this for a few years. It has been a warm weather signature scent or a favorite Summertime frag.
Now that Spring has sprung and I’m wearing it again I get the aromatic personality underlying the fresh notes.
This past year I went on a search to add the best “fresh” fragrances to my collection, MFK Aqua Universalis, Creed Royal Water etc…
So where I thought of LEau Boisee as just a fresh fragrance befor, as the lime dominated for me and it is the strongest note together with vetiver.
Now I am noticing the geranium and some unlisted spices that do give it it’s aromatic sophistication. So I am getting the original DNA of Guerlain L’Homme now.
I realize this is more than a freshy, it is a very fresh woody aromatic.
The lime, mint and green notes are beautiful, unique and refreshing. The vetiver, geranium, and fresh spices, give it some aromatic personality.
This has very good longevity for a mostly fresh fragrance.
It reminds me of Aqua di Parma Essenza, in genre, but more fresh.
My favorite in the L’Homme series by far.
    Recommendation: Creed Vetiver Geranium.
Take out the lime, add green apple and patchouli.
A great fresh frag, a few notches up from L’ieu Boisee, and less expensive than main line Creeds.
    Rating: 9/10
God bless, happy Spring. John 3:16

Well this is a decent fragrance in the same sphere as TdH in the opening but veering into a different fragrance that’s so reminiscent of Mila Schön’s Uomo. I like it enough to own it but it certainly can’t unsettle TdH on any given day, in my opinion.
Update: Well my first impressions were quite off… This is pretty much a more luxurious smelling version of Chrome Sport. Doesn’t last long on my skin unfortunately but I’m going to hold that thought till I try it in hot weather.

I like the original L Homme de Guerlain, but with L Homme L Eau Boisee it veers into the love category. This particular flanker is all that and then some. Yes, Smelling like a mojito is great and works well at parties or casual fridays, but the reinvention of this scent as a spring fling is even better! The addition of the grass note and and the removal of the mojito accord and addition of the musk propel this scent into new territories. The sly greenness of this scent is perfectly executed. It is not a citrus, vetiver and grass punch but rather this lovely interwoven citrus and green freshness. The geranium, cedar, rum and musk act as a lovely base to this scent adding a nice level of richness and class to the original freshness of this scent. Guerlain maintains its’ classiness and attention to quality as usual on this one. The fragrance is linear and it is just fine. This scent should be worn especially on those mondays when you just came back from work and had a weekend or holiday that was spent either in the forest or on the beach. We all need reminders of fun and greenery when returning back to the grind. To put it simply… L Homme de Guerlain L eau Boisee smells like a reminder of time well spent.

I was very anxious to try this. A mojito version of Terre D’Hermes sounded amazing and TdH is one of my all time favorites. Boisee is ok but I was let down. It didn’t wow me like TdH.
I get strong woodsy notes, like cedar with mint and a little lime. Performance is good but nothing here to grab me.

My second review in this scent. Worn at the right time(sunny day and sprayed directly onto shirt), this is a compliment magnet! The lime is tastefully blended into the vetiver(which I can’t really stand when it’s alone). Unique and definitely a gentleman kind of scent. Thank you Guerlain, this was worth the import taxes! =P ..and sorry for misunderstanding initially! Haha

(Comparing this masterpiece to TdH is a sin.)
It has similarities with TdH eau tres fraiche though.

Wow, just got this today and it’s fantastic! I get the comparisons with TDH which I like but won’t buy purely cos it’s a colleague’s signature.
This is out of this world. It’s like a cocktail made with Paco Rabbane Eau (fantastic but very hard to find now), TDH, Guerlain Homme with a bit of Guerlain Vetiver thrown in for good measure.
Think I’ve just found my new signature !!!!
Just updating this review 2 days later, this is the Holy Grail for me. It has it all, freshness, depth, booziness, out of the shower clean, lazy Summer day casual or formal sophistication…….Love it and think it could work in just about any situation, so its versatile as well……. Brilliant!

Very nice modern update to the classic Guerlain Vetiver. Not my usual thing, but well put together and a pleasure to wear – maybe even a bit longer-lasting than the original Vetiver. Pretty linear scent from start to finish.

This smells like paper pulp soaked in lime juice and left in the sun to dry. The strong presence of lime would seem to make this a good choice for warmer months. It felt very odd wearing this in colder weather. Like drinking eggnog at the beach kind of odd. Although it is on the lighter side, it has a grown up vibe to it. It’s dry and serious with a subdued, very faint sweetness. Polite, and inoffensive.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

This one wasn’t a love at first sniff for me. I thought it was nice, an ok fresh and familar scent. Then it just grew on me as I kept getting pleasant whiffs of lime-vetiver with something kind of lanvin oxygene-y pepper going on. I like it more each time, and I could wear this often without being too much, but I should say has a sour celery-ness to it if over applied.
Also to my surprise, my wife really likes it. She doesn’t much care for this hobby of mine, or the many heavier scents I wear, but she literally followed me around the house telling me I smelled good after spraying this one.
Performance isn’t the best, but it is a graceful, polite scent. It is not meant to be a screamer. This is a hansome, confident, and charming fragrance, and requires the same from the wearer. Spray strategically and let her come to you.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

I can’t make it project no matter how much I spray on. I am sadly disappointed with this. I waited for quite sometime for it to arrive as it’s not easy to find this being sold here in Singapore. I’ve tried this on skin and clothes but it just project or last at all. Might be a bad batch. Will appreciate if someone could tell me about batch code ” 3P01″.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

This one is a gorgeous lime and grass scent on me but the rum and vetiver kick in pretty quickly as well, adding a little grit to the green citrus blend. This will be perfect for our muggy hot summer (which is nearly here) and I’m tossing up between buying this or Eau de Guerlain for myself or my hubby for the warmer weather. If you love limes, definitely try this.

I see this one and others from Guerlain (Homme, L’Instant EDT and L’Instant EDP) in new packages a la Vetiver/Habit Rouge @ Douglas. Are they also reformulated?

I’m surprised that no one mention that this edition reminds of celery. An overall fresh, unique scent that’s made by one of the best designers. Like it alot.

A few years back I bought a bunch of NOW essential oils for aroma scenting the room. One of them was Cedarwood. You can pick up Yardley Citrus and Wood for under 20 bucks. It does it really well. You can pick up Terre De Hermes for 60-70 bucks, or you can buy this one for around 45 bucks. Each is the same fragrance after about 3-5 minutes. Slightly different openings, but these are Cedarwood dominated fragrances to such an extent, its practically the entirety of all the fragrances. It’s a great scent for the office and mid to low temperature summer days, rainy days. You will get complements. Just, how much is it worth to you. Frankly, Yardley Citrus and Wood will get the same job done for a bit less money, but if you want Guerlain name and quality, this is the best bang for the buck. Terre D Hermes, well you have been bested.

Tonight, about an hour into wearing a small sample of L’eau Boisee, I thought to myself – wow, this really smells like Terre d’Hermes, without the orange note I struggle with.
After scanning the reviews here, it seems many of you agree.
To me, the similarity to Terre comes from the earthy accord of vetiver and cedar, as well the scent’s overall powderiness. Both have citrus top notes, but Boisee is fresher thanks to lime, as opposed to Terre’s sticky-sweet orange and sour grapefruit accord. Boisee also gets a crisp boost from the woody-fresh mint note it shares with its mojito-splashed siblings. The mint isn’t as pronounced as the EDP, but it’s still very much there.
Overall, I think Boisee is easier to wear than Terre due its freshness. It’s also different enough from Guerlain Homme to justify owning both. Best of all, it performs well and smells absolutely phenomenal.
It takes a lot to top a Jean-Claude Ellena creation, but that’s exactly what Thierry Wasser has done here. Very well done, indeed.

I like vetiver, but im not a fan. I saw this fragrance at a low price and I blind bought it (from three choices, this one, London B or Dreamer V) cause I only have sweet or night fragrances (except for Issey Miyake).
I expected something more “green” like encre noire or L’eau d’Issey, it has a more woody body.
    Smells mature, elegant, impressive.

Don’t you just hate it when your internet connection lets you down and you end up posting as a guest…never mind. That one’s mine. I was going to finish by saying that Homme L’Eau Boisee isn’t an obvious choice for most people and will probably be a sign that someone has good taste in perfume. You won’t be one of the crowd Sauvage or Bleu de Chanel.

I tried on my skin, I find similar to Encre noire and Avon destination gran canyon. It’s a vetiver dominant perfume, but it has more lime than EN and to my nose Guerlain is more pleasant and unisex. If you like vetiver, buy it, great fresh lime-vetiver scent all year.

Guerlain Boisee knocks it out of the ball park and into the stratosphere.

@damightyheru sums up my comments well. I did, however, get some Terre type whiffs throughout the day. This is a different scent though.
Don’t judge this one for an hour after application. I thought it was weak and had disappeared, but it had just not bloomed yet. The sillage is medium (even at high dosage) and will not offend.
You do have to go bit heavy on the trigger compared to something like Guerlain’s Vetiver, which is two sprays max or people will run from you.
This was a blind buy, and overall I am pleased.

guys, of course I know it’s EdT, but it behaves on my skin as EdC. it’s funny that the longevity is so different on various people, however this is a reason, why I just like it, not love it.

this juice is absolutely gorgoeus, the softest, refreshing vetiver, perfect for hot weather. but the longevity is pretty awful 🙁 it is eau de cologne, not eau de toilette. pity

If I could only have one fresh Summertime fragrance this would be it. The scent together with great longevity.
I have several Acqua Parma’s, Dior Cologne, Ninfeo Mio, Hermes Jardin, Eau Savage, Terre eau Fresh, Guerlain Pamplelune.
The only one that tops it, Creed MI.

Nice well blended summer and spring cologne. It carries the DNA of Terre D’hermes in the dry down when the top notes settles. I smell orange note but I do not see it in the pyramid. The vetiver is well behaved and toned down by the grassy creamy notes. It is a nice elegant cologne. It is worth to have it with its current price range of 38+ USD.
