Description

“Guerlain Homme is an authentic call to adventure. Keen on discovery, man flourishes in a nature that he makes his own. Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum revels in contrast: freshness and strength united in a mysterious and intense fragrance. This Eau de Parfum surprises with its vibrant freshness lent by the mojito accord, the fresh floral accord and the green woody accord, which come together in an intense composition. This strength ensures its powerful and refined trail. Guerlain Homme boasts a bolder, woodier personality. Modern in its geometry and rigorous in its form, the bottle – iconic of the Guerlain men’s fragrance collection – and its luxurious wooden cap are timeless figures of French elegance.

The mojito accord (sweet lime, peppermint, rum) is made explosive thanks to an extra splash of rum. The floral accord recalls freshness and refinement. The green woody accord is reorchestrated for a more powerful trail and sensuality. Patchouli, cedar and vetiver are enhanced.” – a note from the brand.

Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum is the repackaging and “reorchestration” of the previous Guerlain Homme Intense from 2009.

Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum (2016) was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Thierry Wasser.

I love the original Guerlain Homme EDT that was recently discontinued, so I was curious as to what the new Eau De Parfum version would smell like. This was a blind buy, so I was pleased by the similar Mojito opening of the original EDT. But I was extremely happy with the different, beautiful dry down of this newer version. The rum note is toned down and the lime and mint is heightened. It’s a beautiful green scent. I can smell this all day long and not tire of it. I tried this overnight while sleeping and even with just two sprays I was able to smell it the following morning. As with the original EDT, this is a classy, clean, understated scent, but the dry down on this newer version is so much better. Absolutely love it, well done Guerlain!
Update: After wearing this now for a few weeks, I have to say I am in love with this new updated Guerlain Homme. It is now my signature scent. A few more notes: this juice stains, so be careful when spraying on white or light colored shirts or clothing. I like the new bottle design, simple and clean, and the 1.6 oz bottle is perfect for traveling. The wood cap (the Guerlain website says it’s real wood?) is a nice touch.

Another blind buy for me. It comes of as a fresh scent and settles down to a masculine lemony woody smell. I definitely enjoyed wearing it today. Performance was decent, it wore off after 5hrs. Smells like a powdery lemon pledge cleaner, but not in a bad way. I’ll keep testing it out to see what people think.

I don’t agree about bad longevity. This thing is one of the longer lasting perfumes for warmer season or daytime wear, much better than say…hugo boss. Scent begins in an upliftining and envigorating lime/mohito vibe, then after 30-60 minutes middle notes kick in and the scent becomes somewhat soapy, reminiscent to something prada would produce and that really lasts long, but stays close to the skin. I agree it is a classy scent. Once again Guerlain quality is there, had great summer nights wearing this perfume.

Not so much “Mojito” as candied lime.
This goes on quite sharp at first (almost like fresh lime juice) and then dries down to a powdery lime with a touch of vetiver in the background.
Then it disappears in about two hours.
Rather forgettable and certainly not worth actually buying.

    This is spectacular.
I haven’t had a chance to sample the original in the smaller clear-capped bottle, but this edition (if it is indeed any variation in formula) is now my favorite warm-weather casual scent.
I see some longevity complaints, but you may be going nose-blind to it. I got a little over 90 minutes of beast-mode projection before it started to drop off – which for a citrus-heavy warm-weather frag is quite impressive. I suppose that is the rationale for the EDP concentration, to give your warm weather scent the performance of darker EDTs that are largely composed of less fragile components. It’s a perfect solution to the “where’d my citrus scent go” problem that you see in your favorite citrus scents across the full spectrum, and whoever was behind that decision, it really works – a sincere thank you.
It’s a contradiction to be sure, but the vetiver and cedar give the perfect “warmth” to complement those refreshing citrus/mint/rum top notes. This is versatile enough to do very well in transitional seasons, but I personally will stick to summer on this one. I use it casually, but it would make a fantastic office or date scent as well.
I agree that this is less a mojito vibe than it is a similar-but-distinct experience to other scents that mimic a sip of mojito more faithfully, but it’s every bit as refreshing.

I don’t get the comparisons to Cedrat Enivrant by Atelier. I own both, and the only things they have in common are citrus and an alcoholic base. But CE is Yuzu and Gin (juniper) while Guerlain por Homme is Lime and Rum (and mint)
CE is much more in your face with its citrus while GpH is more mellow…

Smells similar to atelier cologne cedrat enivrant. Both with mojito vibe. This one seems milder but a well rounded version. I still have to test for longevity and projection. I don’t have the other versions of Guerlain Homme so I can’t compare . But so far I like it. A great daily scent. There is a refined quality to it. If you like it simple and not too loud then you might want to try this one.
Update:Lasts 7-8 hours on skin, maybe longer if you spray on clothes, projection mild

Definitely the very best of the line was the Pininfarina bottle Edt, enormeus longevity and straight sillage, with the best monjito vibe ever and with a calmed down rubharrbar- licorice interplay. It was in short time changed. When the intense versione came out, and obviously made paler due to mktg segmentation, targeting and other unpurposeful strategic thinkings. Then the current Homme version is, as othershave properly said, in-between of the two. Whilst not bad at all and with its own merits, those as me having experienced the jubilation of the original may get short of being impressed.

The minty, citrusy opening is cool and fresh, though generic. It then gradually evolves into a clean woody scent.
Scent: It is really pleasant and invigorating (good for men of all ages). There’s one problem – the application spot turns red for a short time, though not itchy.
Performance: It lasts over 6 hours and projects moderately for the first 2 (1 hour after applying 3 sprays, I was noticed by people 2 meters away and I still got whiffs of it 4 – 5 hours after that).
Occasion: It’s best for outdoor activities during warm seasons. With moderation it can be used as an office scent.

This starts off with a strong white rum note blended with peppermint and lime, to smell exactly like a mojito. The rum is the strongest however, while the lime and peppermint are in the background. When spraying this on my skin it actually gives me a slight cooling sensation – possibly due to the mint. Although I don’t drink alcohol, I’m a huge fan of alcoholic colognes, and own a number of them with rum, tequila, vodka, gin, and other alcoholic drink notes (e.g. Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts, Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum, Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum, Carven Le Vetiver, Ungaro pour L’homme III). The mint is not realistic mint nor is the lime realistic, while the rum is the white variety and not bay rum. But together they smell quite pleasant nonetheless. The fragrance overall leans very masculine and is a sort of “night out” type of scent. On drydown it gives me nice wafts towards my nose of a very intoxicating (pun intended) mojito which smells better in the air emanating from my skin than if I sniff my skin itself. It later changes to basically dominant white rum with peppermint and a hint of vetiver, while the lime disappears. Sillage is moderate and longevity is moderate – becoming a skin scent in about 2 hours – but lasts as a skin scent for many hours after that. Overall this is the best true “mojito” fragrance in my opinion.

Heartbreaking, this has been reformulated beyond repair . The Mojito note as mentioned is gone, all you’re left with is a soapy Vetiver with longevity for this EDP that is INFERIOR to the EDT released in 2008. You’ll get 3-4 hours tops and the lime note burns off almost instantly upon spraying. If you love this scent I suggest looking for the old Art Deco bottle, this stuff is just rubbish. Looks like Guerlain has become just another designer putting out mediocre releases with poor longevity, disgraceful for a house with such a history…

Every time I try guerlain homme I really like it but never fall in love enough to pull the trigger. I thought if the performance on this is godly then it may be a game changer. In a word, it’s not. Possibly better than intense (black bottle) but doesn’t perform like a edp. The price they were selling this for was up there with platinum egoiste by channel. My favourite in the line is still eau boisee.

Just when rhubarb notes are hitting the peak of popularity, they take it out? That’s strange, but I still love the fragrance even without the rhubarb..

Not a review, but a question.
    Are there already fakes?
My wife just bought me the new version of the EDP.
It smells somewhat floral and there is something similar to rum, but no mint or lime at all.
I’ve tested the 2016 perfume several times in different shops and it’s nothing like it.

I agree that some of the bright tangy jammy rhubarb open is gone but otherwise this is very similar to GHI and I like that it comes in a larger bottle. I would just run through the little black GHI bottles. I really can’t imagine a better spring/summer scent.

For me the drydown is very similar to Prada Amber a lot – the mojito vibe is totally gone. Anybody else have the same experience?

  17. :

    3 out of 5

Same as the GH EDT just boozier cause the extra rum with long staying power. Not an office scent cause of the added rum projection. No comparison with GHI at all, they removed the Rhubarb note that was a fresh, fruity and sweet ingredient, with a pleasant sour nuance and red berries note.

  18. :

    5 out of 5

To be clear, this is most certainly not the same fragrance as Guerlain Homme Intense. This is lighter, more floral, and with less of a rum note. It’s a great one in its own right, but don’t get this expecting GHI. It’s more like halfway between GH and GHI.

This scent is amazing have been using it since 2008 in the edt now discontinued. So i’v moved onto the edp with new bottle design.
the scent is lime and mint, with the rum creating almost a marzipan note. this is very refreshing scent, unique.
as long as they make this ill be buying bottle after bottle.
lasts around 8-10 hours with mild projection. whoever gets close to you will catch a light whiff.
Also anyone worried about smelling of alchol at office or work don’t worry it will not be seen that way i always wear it to work there is a big difference when the smell of alcohol comes from your mouth as opposed to a perfume that is trying to mimic a cocktail drink.
one of the best from Guerlain, also a fan of ideal edt.
I think Guerlain should do exclusive version of this with higher quality ingredients it would do very good.

Wow, just like L’Instant de Guerlain pour Homme, this smells so rich. High quality fragrance, for real gentlemen.
This is my first “green” fragrance and I truly love it. It is so much more gentle on the nose than so called oceanic fragrances. This will be my signature scent in the summer.
I believe the web shop I bought it from, had priced it wrong. Was able to pick up a 100 ml bottle for €57. A 80 ml bottle of Guerlain Homme Intense (which essentially is the same fragrance) costs €62. Was surprised the web shop removed the new bottle from their shop after I bought it.
Guerlain is definitely up there in the top niche fragrances. I would say it easily beats Amouage fragrances at nearly 1/4 of the costs.
This is clearly a summer fragrance, but I tested it in the winter. So the performance might be better in the spring/summer.
Scent: 10/10 (Addictive, just like all Guerlain fragrances)
Projection: 7/10 (Projects for a good 2 hours in the winter)
    Sillage: 7/10
    Longevity: 8/10
Versatility 9/10 (Very fresh, very versatile)
    Uniqueness: 10/10
Price-performance: 9/10 (Cheaper and higher quality than designer fragrances and other top notch niche fragrances)
Total: 8.5 (Due to the projection and sillage, which might be better during the summer)

    Brand new… Stopper… that’s it.
Guerlain’s men fragrances are relaunched in the Habit Rouge bottle with a Woody styled stopper.
Monsieur Guerlain has a great site with all major information about the brand and its actuality. They are changing a lot of their packagings/bottles to look more “niche” and spare some more $$$.

This is Guerlain Homme intense in a new bottle and Edp concentration. I love the new bottles design and still no reformulation comparing to the old bottle, Guerlain doesn’t mess around when it comes to reformulations anyways.

Thank you for adding this! I saw it in a shop this week and was wondering why I hadn’t seen it before. It’s good to have info on all of the reformulations and relaunches to help consumers understand the nine lives of their favorite fragrances : )

Is this really a new fragrance by Guerlain? It was originally launched since 2009. Fragrantica Admin please STOP listing fragrances with new packaging separately. It is confusing your readers and not very helpful at all.
