I cannot tell you how many times I passed this scent up because I wasn’t sure I would like it. Well, I finally caved at the start of Summer and it was a surprise blind buy.
Like the comment below, it’s much better for Fall and Winter even though the Coconut note might make you think Summer. It’s unlike Pink Sugar which is straight up caramelized sugar. Gold Sugar is a decadent Orange Creme Brulee with Coconut, caramelized Sugar and Sandalwood. Moderate sillage and lasts 10+ hours on my skin. For the price point, it’s a good blind buy.

I wasn’t sure if I should buy this perfume, because I didn’t like Pink Sugar, but this one is much more fancier!
Gold Sugar is perfect for the fall and winter, it is very comforting!

Blind bought it a few years ago because I am such a sucker for Aquolina perfumes, plus I was seduced by the whipped cream and creme brulee notes.
Well, THAT was an absolute fail. I am surprised, because Aquolina fragrances are so well known for accurately mimicking gourmand notes that manage to smell EDIBLE.
Pink Sugar Gold is a mush of headache inducing cloying sweetness that doesn’t change or go away for hours (kudos for sillage and longevity I guess). I ended up giving it away to my teenage neighbour – but hey, at least she loved it 🙂

Smells like vanilla and sandalwood to me ,I looove it
for the evening , also have the pink sugar ,don’t like it
too plastic scenty for me ,this one though ❤❤❤❤

to me this is more like plain pannacotta, given creme brulee has that burned caramel on top which I do not get from this frag…it is full-fat condensed milk/cream with a hint of dried coconut (not fresh) and ample musk.
longevity and sillage not up to par, however, for the price am not complaining there.

I am not sure why it has taken me so long to try this. I blind brought this today and it is so delicious. I cannot believe the quality of this scent for its price.
Upon opening this has a gorgeous blend of orange, cream and coconut which reminds me of a more subtle version of scandal by JPG. On dry down you start getting creamy creme brulee with sugared crust and vanilla. I couldn’t stop smelling my wrists all day! This also pair nearly nicely with Lolita Lempika Elle Laime for the summer.

Big blast of citruses in the beginning, with a nice tropical vibe to it from the coconut. After 10-15 minutes it becomes smooth, creamy and warm, very gourmand like a dessert due to the creme brulee note, not intoxicating sweet though.
I love it! ❤️ It’s a delicious, amazing scent, that’s so fun to wear! ❤️❤️❤️

I love it, it’s smells like sunscreen.

Pink Sugar Gold doesn’t do it for me. To much citrus for my liking and not enough of that sweet warmth that I adore.

  10. :

Very similar to what I remember Britney Spears In Control Curious being. I get a clear note of apricot or peach as opposed to the stated citruses, flanked by a smidgen of creaminess, probably some vanilla. Less fluffy, sweet and lovely than expected, really quite fruity on me.

When I first sprayed this, I got in your face blast of oranges/citrus liquor. Waited a few minutes and it smelled a lil like sunscreen mixed with tanning lotion/or the old baby magic lotion in the white bottle. But just wait for it…a good 10 minutes went by and I was like I know this smell. What does this remind me of? Then it hit me. It smelled just like my great grandmothers kitchen when she would make homemade coconut cake! Took me right back to the late 80’s, early 90’s when I would just sit and watch her make it. Although, I first thought this would be great for summer, it’s not for me (sickly sweet) but I do like to wear it in late fall, winter when I can enjoy it & not get a headache from it. Still turns really sweet on me & last about 6 hours. I think that’s pretty good for an EDT.

On me it is like a meringue or a tangerine/lemon souflee, the coconut is just in the background, there is this incredible creaminess, it is really an amazing scent. Longevity is over 8 hours with sillage and projection moderate but perfectly perceptible. My fave from Aquolina.

When I first spritz Gold Sugar all I get is sunscreen. This is literally coconut sunscreen in a bottle. I do not get the creme brulee or whipped cream accords on the sillage but it is there on the skin. The yummiest part of the scent wears very close to the skin, the sillage is a different fragrance completely. The orangeflower is there but I wish it was louder; I do not smell mandarin whatsoever. The neroli is also detectable but is much more musky and gets lost with the jasmine and sandalwood. I was expecting so much more from this – I find Aquolina’s scents to be very good quality for a reasonable price. The scents sounded wonderful online but I am a tad bit turned off that I smell like sunscreen. I think this would do great as a layering scent, I am thinking of pairing it with VS Bombshell Summer to up the citrus.
This actually smells exactly like a tanning lotion that I use by Designer Skin called Duchess – at least I know I can pair it with that!

I love this in hot weather because its sweet without going into cloying territory. At first theres sweet citrus which keeps this fragrance fresh and after its a sweet milky vanilla coconut cookie sprinkled with caramel. I love it very much during summer.

Ok, so I think we can all agree that the bottle is atrocious, it looks like a dollar store can of hairspray. Overlooking the fact (which isn’t easy to do, as part of the experience is in the presentation), this is such a yummy, addictingly sweet fragrance that gourmand and desert-like fragrance lovers will definitely enjoy. This is basically a high calorie citrusy desert in a bottle. I love it in cold weather, especially Christmas time, there’s something very comforting about this one. Do I like it more than Pink Sugar? Hmm…objectively yes, because it’s more creamy, milky, warm; Pink Sugar is just basically a burnt sugar scent on me, a different kind of sweet than Gold Sugar. They are both gourmands but I don’t see much of a resemblance between them except for the sweetness factor.
If you’re into desert-like scents and you like smelling like cupcakes then definitely give this one a try.

Blind bought this but I had doubt in my heart about it. I particularly hesitated because it’s so highly voted as winter and I wanted summer. I was worried for nothing! It’s what I hoped it would be.
Opens with citrus and settles into gourmand cookies with plenty of sugar. I don’t know about creme brulee and whatnot, it smells like sweet baked goods to me. It’s good for year round imo.
And I was surprised to see a little resemblance to my adored Lolita Lempicka Elle L’aime. Maybe others don’t see it, but these two feel like cousins to me. Elle L’aime being the sexy grown up cousin and Gold Sugar the cute little cousin. Very happy with my purchase.

It opens with citrus and neroli, with the heart of the crème brule and coconut and the base of Australian sandalwood, musk and creamy accord.
I get creamy citrus with bananas and a hint of pineapple and coconut with a touch of musk and sandalwood.
It’s appealing to use for layering but not outstanding on its own. Rather inoffensive, generic tropical fragrance.
If you like this, you should try:

I smell almond, i know it isn’t listed, but i smell it. The almond smell gives it a hypnotic poison vibe, but without the play dough smell. I get all the notes listed, the orange blasts through in the early stages. This is a beautiful creamy, i want to say coconut, but my nose can only smell almond. Either way, it’s pretty, and in my opinion expensive smelling for such a good price. The almond stays right through to the end, partnered with the sandalwood. It’s about average longevity, you can still smell it after a good few hours, but i much prefer the punch of the initial dry down. Sillage is same, average. Over all, this is a beautiful fragrance, and definitely one i’ll buy again. I can’t wait to try this in the colder weather, i think it’ll pack more of a punch.

Creamy and zesty fresh at the same time. Its a pity, that the citrusy notes that I get smell a little bit cheap. Overall not bad, but I’m not going crazy for it.

  20. :

    4 out of 5

To my very adept nose it lacks the aforementioned citrus and coconut notes but weighs in heavy on the super sweet and animalistic musk accord.
I like it best blended with pure patchouli oil. The two compliment each other and give me a fresh, sultry, individualistic scent I can live in daily

  21. :

Creamy coconutty heaven. This is one of my favorites for summer.
The coconut, whipped cream and creme brulee are nicely balanced with the citrus, sandalwood and musk. Gold Sugar is mainly sweet and creamy, but the citrus, musk and woods make it much more interesting.
Where Pink Sugar smells very chemical/synthetic on my skin, Gold Sugar does not. This is a very beautiful fragrance, and I find this smelling much more expensive than it actually is.
Sillage is moderate, longevity is 6/7 hours.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

A very edible scent…Gold Sugar legitimately makes me feel hungry for sweets when I wear it. There is an eggy custard note that makes it so realistically food-like along with lots of toasted coconut and vanilla. So yummy! A coworker commented that it smelled like maple syrup.
Good projection but the longevity leaves a bit to be desired; this isn’t quite the powerhouse that Pink Sugar is but it’s still a fantastic addition to any gourmand lover’s collection.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

I do love a sweet gourmand-centric perfume when the mood strikes, and Gold Sugar is just that.
The OG Pink Sugar is too saccharine for me—a screaming lollipop of burnt sugar that goes on and on—but Goldie here strikes a nice, comparatively reserved balance. It still has impressive longevity and throw, but for me, it’s a definite improvement on the original modern classic.
I adore orange blossom, and its powdery citrusy freshness is present, as is a lovely fluffy whipped cream note that gets along so well with the coconut—all serving to cut down that Aquolina super-strength sweetness to a palatable level.
Not something I’d wear frequently, but certainly something that satisfies a sweet craving in a rewarding way when it comes around.

Love the smell of this one
    Very sweet and coconuty

I think this is very nice and great value for your money. I don’t find it to be really “gourmand” – meaning I don’t think it smells literally like food. However, it is very sweet and a bit creamy, I’d also say it’s a bit generic. I don’t reach for it very often and when I do I’m pretty “meh” on it.
That said, I still like this way more than the original Pink Sugar (or, as I like to call it “cheap burnt plastic sugar”) and find it very versatile. It has excellent longevity and projection 8+ hours.

It´s a kind of strange feeling when you don´t prefer sweet gourmand perfumes, you don´t enjoy notes like coconut, whipped cream & crème brûlée – but you surprisingly fall in love with Gold Sugar. I don´t know how it happened.
The scent is just delicious and almost edible. The finest crème brûlée, flawlessly sweet, a hint of superfine vanilla sugar, sweet & heliotrope-like almonds, milky sandalwood, honey, citrusy neroli – and I´m in heaven.
I had no high expectations, I just had an opportunity to try it, so I did – and I don´t regret. It´s nice, it´s calming & and I like to apply it before I go to sleep.

This is an excellent sweet-creamy-comforting and long lasting scent.I decided to make the review just now after having 2 bottles of Gold Sugar for the past 5-6 months because after all these time of wearing it,and it being in the peak of winter and harbouring tons of compliments for this fragrance.
Scent:The initial blast smells strongly of alcohol and something citrusy that is indeed quite similar to a car air freshener like what other reviewers say which kinda lasts between 20-30 minutes and the coconut note as well (Oh how I wish this stage would dissipate ASAP).That stage might worsen during warm temperatures and might give you a huge headache. As it develops further, somewhere in the BG is a creamy dessert which I would assume, the Creme Brulee.
The dry down on my skin smells soooo much like a lemon cupcake muffin which I love.Still, the creaminess lingers.
Longevity:This stays on my skin til I shower the next day.I spray this at 12 pm after showering and it still lingers til 12-1 pm the next day as stays on may hair quite well too and so does on clothes.
Sillage:Not until yesterday til I found out how potent this shit is.At first during my morning work at school where a student told me “I knew you were here because your scent fills up the room”.And second,at my afternoon to evening shift when the clients we had which were twins(male) blurted out of how great I smelt and even asked what perfume I was wearing and I was a few feet away from them.
As a guy at 19 wearing this,I can totally say that this might be my signature winter perfume for it is such an amazing scent and a compliment getter plus a head turner for both sexes.I love it so much and will stock up after finishing 2 of my bottles.

Ahh, I love those scents that remind you that cost isn’t relevant when it comes to smelling good. This is my first time testing anything from Aquolina, and I’m happy I gave the brand a chance because I actually really like Gold Sugar.
When I sprayed it, it immediately dawned on me that I had smelled it many times before. It must be popular here in Los Angeles, because I believe I remember smelling it in school quite often. It would make sense given its accessibility not only in terms of cost, but also in mass appeal. This is something you’d be hard-pressed to dislike, unless you just -hate- gourmand, sweet smells in general.
To me, it smells like the described creme brulee, softly vanilla, topped with Grand Marnier and set alight so that the sugars are nicely burnt, crispy and delicious. The top notes are distinctly orange, a nice counterbalance to a whole lotta sugar.
A couple of sprays went a long way, which is more than I can say for many body sprays of a similar caliber. The projection is perfect–I left a trail as I went about my day, with my brother commenting that something ‘smelled like cookies’ whenever I entered a room. Anyone who’s ever seen the movie ‘Michael’ with John Travolta might have a good laugh at smelling like cookies. I rather liked the compliment.
Not everyone wants to smell like dessert, but if you do, Gold Sugar should be right up your alley. The safest blind buy I’ve come across.

Blind buy at TJmaxx yesterday!! I had to get it since I’ve been wanting it and never have seen it anywhere til yesterday.
I love this and on me I pick up immediately coconut, vanilla, hints of musk and crème brulee and faint hints of orange.
Sillage is moderate and longevity is a mix of weak and moderate but reapplying is not a big deal for me because this smells that good!!
IMO this perfume is wearable year round but I
l’ll be using this a lot in the spring and summer months.

  32. :

This is a great value little gem. Citrus, vanilla and a gentle coconut. Far superior to the more popular Pink Sugar, too, in my opinion (can’t get past the burnt sugar vibe of that one).
I don’t find this cheap smelling at all, either. It reminds me of a slightly ‘fizzier’ YSL Cinema or of the first stage of Armani Code – sweet, creamy, a touch lemony and very much an upbeat, smiley fragrance.
Moderate sillage on my skin and dries down to a skin scent in around two hours. But for under a tenner a bottle, I’m more than happy.

  33. :

Love it! I’m wearing this today and I can’t stop sniffing the back of my hand. It’s warm, sweet, milky and creamy, it’s just yummy!
I agree it acts different in different types of weather. Last year I was wearing it in summer and can remember that longevity was not that great. Now that I’m wearing it in cold weather, it is pretty long lasting. I wear my gourmands in summer also, but this one for me is more satisfying in winter.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

If you want a sweet, vanilla/coconutty scent, look no further! This is one of the sweetest scents i have come across that didn’t smell like sugar itself. I’m not a huge fan of most sweet scents myself, but this is not only a very sweet vanilla/coconut fragrance with a lavish citrus opening… But it has great sillage on myself, longevity could be better but it’s by no means bad for an edp! It is very affordable, so i say it’s worth buying a bottle to try it out.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

Gold Sugar has different longevity with different skins: on me GS lasts for 11/ 12 hours on cool temps (not a fresh scent at all, in hot temps it is cloying since it is heavy and very sweet). On my skin it is really lovely, reminds me of a lemon mousse with chantilly cream all over. Yummy, lovely smell!!!!!

  36. :

    4 out of 5

Uh… Well it’s somewhat pleasant but underwhelming. I think a reviewer or two compared this to car freshener and yes that’s accurate.
You can pick out the notes listed. Certainly the orange and coconut, the creme brulee, etcetera… What puts it in the “meh” category for me is two things: the overabundance of musk and the lack of staying power. Musk can be a wonderful thing in a fragrance if utilized properly. Here it sort of gets in the way. Somewhere in the heart of Gold Sugar is a terrific scent, but the musk envelops it and doesn’t allow it to fly free (hence the “car freshener” feel).
Personally I love coconutty beachy affairs and I was hoping this would be one. Not really. It lacks nuance and delicate balance. Say what you want about the original but the magic came forth.
It’s a pass for me. A pleasant pass, but a pass just the same.

A few years ago when Pink Sugar first came out it was my signature for a good long while- I still love the smell of it but I’m sure others understand the burnout of going through bottle after bottle of a fragrance.
Sometimes you have to rest it for awhile, even when you love it.
The other day I was in TJ Maxx and folks, they sell the Gold Sugar for 9.99 a bottle! Too good to pass up even on a blind buy.
I love this fragrance; it is juicy and sweet without being childish and in the mid-life of the scent there is the bones of Pink Sugar, my old friend. Reminiscent but just different enough to be fun.
There is a lot of orange blossom as one reviewer mentioned; this is more citrusy and juicy than just sugary, but the creaminess makes it adult and wearable.
I still haven’t picked up the coconut but I assume I will- the creme brûlée note is delicious as well.
This is well blended, bright and fun and seems to wear well on these cold days.
It’s a great inexpensive buy and I highly recommend it if you like sweet, juicy scents.
    Very nice!

This is a very familiar scent to me; if you are not new to the fragrance world, you likely have smelled something like this before, so it is nothing unique. To me this smells along the lines of Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar. This is sweet, but not headache-inducing sweet for me. So many of the reviews are spot-on. The reviewer mykabering summed this up very well for me. Fairly inoffensive, although I am not sure I would wear this one to work. Might still be a touch too sweet for some noses. There are definitely stronger sugar-bombs of perfumes, but this one still is up there. Very much a “meh” fragrance for me.

Very nice WINTER scent. It wasnt quite cold out when I bought this and i totally didn’t like this at all. Tried it again now that its closer to Thanksgiving and it smells totally different!!!! REALLY NICE BROWN SUGARY SCENT!!! Love it now but in the warmer temps I do not like this scent. Season’s say everything about a Perfume.

I found this at my local TJ Maxx for the price of a Starbucks latte. A perfect cheap pick me up gormand for the winter months. Linear creme brulee, vanilla, musk, and coconut. Too sweet for me to wear all the time, but it is fun, cheap and cheerful. I’m glad I own it but I probably won’t repurchase.

I just found this today at Marshall’s. It was a blind buy and I LOVE it! It reminds me of VS Very Sexy Now 2006. Warm, neroli, creamy, sandalwood, musk. Like a super sexy suntan oil.
*I ended up giving this away, after several hours all I could smell was vanilla. TBS Swietenia is very similar and the orange blossom note seems to last longer with that one.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

Very alcohol on first spray that quickly turns into orange orange orange then the orange blossom and coconut begin to seep in which sweetens it up but still stays orange and doesn’t transform into anything else.
Waited all day for this to develop into the creamy, milky whipped cream everyone is is describing but nothing.
It reminds me of shampoo/body wash or maybe a car airfreshner
Im holding on though and will keep wearing it and see what happens, as with Pink Sugar I hated it at first and could only smell liquorice and now I cant smell that at all just cotton candy, vanilla and coconuts.

I have had two bottles of this lovely scent and I noticed something kinda weird. The first one I bought from an online fragrance store and it was a creamy sweet coconut scent and I loved it. The second one I bought from an eBay retailer and that bottle didn’t have the soft creaminess of the first. It was sharper, more sugary and less coconutty. My guess is that the first one was fresher ( I didn’t know about check fresh at the time) , that’s why it was more enjoyable. I would recommend it because it’s a great scent when you get a bottle in good condition, but be careful where you buy it from. I’d ask for the batch code before purchasing, now that I know better.. I may even buy another bottle.

Gold Sugar is a rich, creamy and very sexy gourmand. If yours smells of burnt sugar, something has gone very awry.

@Albertos. I own this, I bought it blind from USA and it cost a fortune in shipping taxes and honestly this is the most dissapointing blind buy I have ever made. This is not a fragrance or a perfume per se. This makes it difficult to say as to wether it could pass as unisex, because for me personally it isn’t even a scent. It smells of burnt brown sugar and has no sweetness to me what so ever. I get no lemon or milky notes that others detect. Just an unpleasant burnt charred smell. Definitely try before you buy, don’t blind buy. This was awful in my opinion. You might like it, but just know it is not a safe scent, or a scent at all so to speak. The notes listed that are supposed to be in this fragrance are not detectable in the slightest.

  50. :

    3 out of 5

    @Albertos
In response to your question whether this is unisex or not… I think you should wear whatever you like. I’ve had a look at your wardrobe and many of your perfume “loves” are sweet or sweeter than Gold Sugar – so I recommend you go for it!

  51. :

It is a very sweet perfume, seems on my skin a very creamy lemon souflee. if you don’t mind the aweetness by all means wear. In my country truly very sweet perfumes like Egeo Choc (milk chocolate with cream) are used by men.

I like this one. It smells just like Garnier Whole Blend Coconut water& Vanilla shampoo and conditioner. So if you’re curious to know what this fragrance smell like and you have that particular shampoo and conditioner, then just give it a sniff and you’ll know what gold sugar smells like.

  55. :

Seriously, for $11 (which included the shipping), this is a steal! Very yummy gourmand. I was afraid this was going to be cloying, but it is very well blended and has lovely flavors throughout. At first, I smelled lemon meringue pie. Then I got coconut, then creme brûlée, and in the dry down, yes, it’s good old Vanilla Fields. So nice for the price! Not a ton of sillage or longevity on this one, but just spray more – it’s cheap!

  56. :

    3 out of 5

Lovely, long lasting (over 12 hours), with moderate sillage for 4/5 hours, on my skin it has the scent of a scrumptious lemon creamy pie or mousse, the scent of sicilian lemon (probably the accord of orange flowers+tangerine +orange) ub a chantilly/ creme brulee bed.On my skin the coconut does not appear (which I really prefer) and although very sweet can be worn even on high temps. Delightful, for me the best of Aquolina and indeed one of the best gourmands altogether.

  57. :

Obsessed with this! Love it. If Lancome Hypnose and Laura Mercier Coconut Almond had a baby this is how it would smell…
Edit: Smells expensive, a true creamy citrus gourmand. Stays much closer to the skin than Pink Sugar, but has the same amazing longevity.

  58. :

This is a lovely, soft vanilla-coconut with just enough florals to keep it from being overly sweet.

  59. :

    3 out of 5

To me this is a basic vanilla made more interesting. It has a definite coconut scent to it that is reminicent of Sunblock like others have stated, but still very foods smelling. It also has a definite burnt smell that smells identical to the scent produced when blowtorching Creme brûlée, not the actual taste of it (which is more eggy), but the smell of burning sugar. I don’t really get whipped cream from this, but I can definitely see how other get that note. To me whipped cream is more of a subtle cream and sugar scent and this is way more in your face ” I’m vanilla!, with coconut and burnt sugar!!!”

    * These are my personal experiences/thoughts with this fragrance. Yours/others may differ. *
Initial – orange + coconut + crème brûlée
Drydown – whipped cream + coconut + sandalwood + musk
    Duration – 8-10 hours
    Projection – soft
Experiences – Creamy dessert in a bottle. Better suited to cooler temperatures – a little too sweet for hot weather.
Quick Thoughts – creamy, sweet, inviting, warm, girly

I… I can’t do it. I thought I researched this proper before buying, but I cannot stand most of the notes. I’m 90% sure it’s the orange blossom that has this hideous metallic vibe, like dirty metal aluminum flakes got liquefied and mixed in accidentally. It was an immediate scrubber for me. However, I sprayed some on a test strip to see how it develops. The middle is dominated by a rather nasty coconut (I think that’s what it is, and I love coconut) that lasts for a good long while. However, the far drydown is lovely, and I very much enjoy the crème brule and whipped cream accords. Sillage and longevity at least average, but I can’t stomach it long enough to say for sure.
I’m sorry, but this is terrible stuff. I really, REALLY wanted to like it because I was desperately looking for a great creamy and orange scent. I failed. I just can’t get past the metal and fake coconut.

This just smells like sunscreen. And yet, I don’t hate it. But I also wouldn’t wear it. I just can’t see an occasion for it. It’s very coconut-y on. That’s really all I can smell at first. Then, it does dry down to the whippedcream which is nice, but there is no projection to it. I can’t even smell it on myself unless I put my nose right up to where I sprayed. It’s a shame, because Aquolina makes my guiltiest of pleasures when it comes to fragrances.

Just scored a smaller bottle at Marshall’s for $9.99, blind bought. First spray, hey (son #3), what do you think?” Son #3: ” Smells like Fruit Loops!” Me: ” No it doesn’t…wait…yes it DOES!”
First spray is straight up Fruit Loops. Then it dries down to a burnt sugar/coconut/citrus smell. There is SOMETHING in here that smells a bit synthetic/off-putting to me. You know how the new iteration of Britney Spears Fantasy has that sour kiwi smell that messes it all up? That’s what I’m getting in the middle.
The end, however, is where the payoff comes. Straight up Creme brûlée, which I love. I’m just not sure this is something I want to smell like.
Edit: I think this is giving me a headache. This may be one I pass on to one of teen sons’ female friends.

It’s probably my fave from the ‘sugar’ collection, comparing it to another two that i have /had/. Pink sugar and Simply pink are alike and they have that burnt cotton candy sensation, while this one is firmly different. It feels like an orange with creme brulee on the top. Later it settles more musky and vanilla-creamy.

Recipe for Aquolina Gold Sugar: Take original Pink Sugar – add a little vanilla, add a little lemon and a dash of orange, remove a large helping of the nauseating over-the-top cotton candy, add a tiny bit of woods and maybe a hint of cashmere, a small drop of coconut and voila!
    It’s a keeper.

-Initially it is a freshly sweet scent. Citrusy fresh and also a cupcake. Very cupcake.
-Continues developing into a sickly sweet, tacky almost scent.
-If you happen to hate gourmands overall, don’t even bother. The ones who give them a chance, just because: “well maybe, you never know, it might be nice after all, why not?” wait patiently for the drydown,
-When the tacky sweet cupcake starts smelling all the more better, acquires a powdery facet too and starts smelling like a vanilla-lemon ice-cream dessert. It is rather cooling on the skin, wearable and with less projection, but with a substantial lasting power for an EDT.
-In the after-drydown, as I call it, it turns into a sweet shampooish scent.
Not bad for the brand that released a burnt cotton candy in liquid form. Gold Sugar is by far superior, multifaceted, despite its unoriginality, and developing perfume, gotta admit.
You know, in contrast to Pink Sugar which is hopeless, this one does have potential. There is something in here. They should have tried to add layers to Gold Sugar, why not some florals? Why not some resins? some vetiver? Don’t rely on santal and musk: they barely added any…
I get that it’s a girl’s – teen’s perfume, but in proper dosage base notes and florals can only benefit a generical sweetness and not only give it some character, but also “train” those – pray not for ever!- helpless “noses” of the young women into more complex and sophisticated scents.

I blind bought this for my girlfriend after I personally came to love Black Sugar. I haven’t had time to really evaluate this one (or sneak a wearing for myself), but it’s certainly just as pleasant, and smells very similar. Different notes, much lighter, but still shares the same DNA that made me love Black Sugar.
And I bought a 3.4oz bottle for ONLY $10! From what I’ve smelled, any of the Aquolina scents are worth having around, especially for their price! Maybe one of these days I’ll try Silver, since it was actually marketed for men. 🙂

Too sweet and synthetic to my nose. Wouldn’t be good to wear in very hot weather, to me this is a “snuggly” fragrance
