Cardamom is very prominent and brings masculinity to the opening, juicy plum is hiding somewhere in the corner, but it gets better every second as the cardamom settles.
Once the drydown comes, I get cinnamon, heliotrope, amber and vanilla.
To my nose this is completely unisex, classy/spicy fragrance with a little bit of a vintage feel to it.
Spicy, warm, close to skin. Suitable for fall or winter.

I bought a nicely presented boxed set of 5ml x3 samples of Hommage to Garbo by Gres for £2.25, less than £1.00 per sample. So, very VERY cheap. I had no high expectations but I have been pleasantly surprised. I think the quality is quite high and wearable and they all feel like they could date from the 1920s or 1930s even if they are made from modern ingredients. Goddess is a pale brown liquid and it opens with a belch of sour alcohol and amber – presumably the ‘plum’ listed in the official notes (I get almost none of the official notes in fragrances and have learned to distrust them and just go by what it smells like to me). Ignore the ugly opening, in seconds it settles down to a pleasant flowery (heliotrope?) vanilla with a hint of white pepper (I get nothing like cinnamon or cardomon or the spices listed by Gres, and no woods at all). This reminds me of my grandmother’s face powder (flowery vanilla) after it has been cross-bred with Imperial Leather talc (flowery spice). Amongst the pepper there is something animalic, fecal, stinky but pleasant which makes it strange and naughtier than face powder or talc (ambergris?). Lastly it dries down to something sweeter, but think caramelised rather than sugary, like a mix of burnt cotton candy and scorched newspaper, which is the after-burn of the vanilla, I suspect. All-in-all, I rather like it. The sillage is quite generous and I think it would be offensive if over-applied but rather good when used discretely. Pleasing on a woman, even better on a man (would make a freshly shaved face very kissable I think), definitely unisex. But this is cross-dressing with elegance not a drag act. Presumably, this is Garbo as Queen Christina. If you can find a discounted sample I urge you to try it because although it is not a ‘great’ fragrance its certainly not a bad one and a lot better than many pricier creations associated with living celebrities.

I bought it blind a few years back out of curiosity. A powdery heliotrope, dusty cinnamon and very soft oakmoss on a bed of vanilla whisper. It is a muted composition, like a dream within a dream. In my book it is more about aromatherapy, something I’d wear for myself. It stays very close to the skin and has a calming effect.

Very feminine one, I’ve got mossy cinnamon and cardomom in creamy, cozy way.
I don’t get any vanilla here, but powdery, ambery heliotrope- and patchouli?
Sillage and longevity from my mini bottle- not so good.

And Goddess. It maybe be most “important” in Garbo trio, really cinnamony-cardamomy, soft eastern sensuality, I would say this you can wear for first date and keep that right border between un-offensive and tender-attractive
Bohemian fragrance.

I bet I already smelled this scent a million times. So, not so very original.
But what a quality ! This is one of the best “clones” over there. A delicious sweet cinnamon with a spicy base.
Pretty unisex for me, I don’t really get the floral notes and fruity too, but as a spicy/sweet one, this is a really great perfume.

Smells to me like sweet oak moss. Suitable for the name. Unfortunately, (my bottle) has no sillage at all – regard it as an asset or a minus… Longevity on me is rather delicate, too.

Opens with airy sweetnes and woodsy notes on my skin. Middlenotes gives mature and a bit dark/deep flowernotes. A classic adult woman-scent. Not modern sugarsweet, no modern fruitsweet notes (thanx). Reminds me of another favourite-scent but can’t remember the name while writing this. Elegant and sophisticated. Fresh, female woodsy notes, soft and gentle yet there all around me. Perfect scent for work. I whish the Vanilla stood out a little bit more – then this one would be perfect. Now its good and will be on my top ten list.

It’s like very good mix of Addict and Coco Mademoiselle. Addict for me is too sharp/agressiv and give me a huge headahe and Chanel is a bit boring. Hommage a Greta Garbo Godess is a perfect and nice mix of two of them. Sweetnes of Addict and a bit of mystery from Chanel.
And the bottle is very chic!

Heliotrope is the great mediator here. While it doesn’t command attention, it keeps the spiciness in check, tones down the fruitiness, and lifts the base of the fragrance. (I cannot specifically identify the cardamom, cinnamom, or oak moss.) The overall effect for me is a soft, powdery, somewhat sweet modern chypre-floral with a very, very subtle edge that reminds me of a distant note of pink pepper. It stays close to the skin, and by the time the heart notes emerge, any sillage has become minimal. For me, it’s a perfect office scent!
pompyjtu634Unlogrere – :
I am astonished to find it under ‘chypre floral’ category. To me this is oriental. Sweet ambery/musky and vanillic fragrance that can be compared to Ambre de Cabochard or even a little bit to Rochas Absolu. I like it, it is pleasant and inoffensive office scent for colder days.
UPDATE: I must admit the oakmoss and some fruit also are distinct so maybe this could fall under ‘chypre fruity’ category, however, it is still very oriental to me. Definitely the best one from Hommage a Greta Garbo!

Very good sweet orient .
