11 years after Eau de Gingembre, ginger-inspired fragrance, Roger & Gallet is launching a new version, which is bolder, more prominent, wilder and adventurous. The new fragrance takes us for an imaginary journey to the island of Zanzibar, where it introduces us with three beautiful faces of ginger. Journey to the African coast and Zanzibar invites us for an irresistible fragrant adventure which offers new experience enveloped with a dose of mystery and excitement. The lush heaven of the island will enchant you with spicy scents and amazing colors. Magic and beauty provided by numerous spices together with lush and fragrant gardens is conveyed by this composition in which ginger plays the main role, supported with delicate flowers and fruity notes.
New fragrance by the house of Roger & Gallet was created in collaboration of two prominent perfumers, Alberto Morillas and Amandine Clerc-Marie who transfer three main aspects of ginger with their composition.
Top notes are based on original and exciting ginger scent, reminding us of colorful imagery and exotic of the island of Zanzibar. Spicy-citrusy shades of ginger are rounded with luminous notes of mandarin with a juicy and optimistic hint of pomegranate. This unique cocktail provides characteristic sensuality and energy to the perfume.
Notes of the heart explore the main streets of Zanzibar presented with ginger blossom. Their opulent look, bright red color and exotic, intense and feminine scent is combined with orange blossom and fruity zests of litchi, while accentuating the floral heart of the composition full of love.
Base notes introduce sweet, candied ginger combined with woody notes of cedar. A fine, velvety trail lingers behind white musk, softening the composition and making it even more alluring.
Fragrance Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge arrives in characteristic glass flacon in red color iridescent in shades of strong pink. The perfume can be obtained as 30 and 100 ml Eau Fraiche Parfumee.
Gingembre Rouge was launched in 2014.

This smells a little bit like a pina colada, I get a strong pineapple note even though it’s not listed. It’s a tropical fruit cocktail of a perfume. I actually really like it. However the longevity is very poor, even for a cologne. I only bought a small bottle which I will use up, but I can’t see myself repurchasing.

Fruity, fruity, fruity…with a hint of ginger! Is like a summer cocktail very good the first sips but then just boring…
I used up a bottle last summer and I like it but did not fell in love.

This is a very well blended fragrance. I am impressed. The ginger is softened by the pomegranate in a very sensual way. The ginger here never gets overpowering but it is strong enough to give the pomegranate something interesting to play with. On top of that, everything smells very natural. Sillage is impressive. This is a perfume with personality but, at the same time, it is unlikely to offend anyone. I think it makes for a safe blind buy or gift, and has signature potential.

I tried it several times before investing into a discounted gift set which I will return in the end..There`s nothing wrong with this fragrance, but it`s just another that falls into the `I wouldn`t mind getting it for free but not willing to pay this much for it`- category..Not long-lasting enough, for a start. It is pleasant, the fruitiness and citrus are in perfect balance, and I prefer lychee to any other fruit in perfumes really, but no, no, no, no something is missing. Even if it`s by Alberto Morillas. I just get something like a cheap spritz that I can get in Primark or Victoria`s Secret, Hollister etc..I prefer Fleur de Figuier, Osmanthus or the original Gingembre somehow, no offence to anyone who likes it though. It would be a pleasant scent to smell on a co-worker rather than stronger or sweeter ones, or if I got it as a pressie I`d definitely use it in the spring or early summer, at work, period.

I discovered this fragrance last winter and I love it very much. It does not smell too strong or too sweet or too fruity. It is the perfect mix between fruity, bubbly, stimulating and fresh. It’s really different. Unfortunately it does not last very long but with the cream of the same smell it lasts a little longer. On the other hand, it does not bother me to apply again in the middle of the day to be sure to feel all day. 🙂

What a nice perfume is this!
Strangely, I do not detect many ginger in it. For me, this is mainly about citruses (I am very suprised of seing that there is not grapefruit, more specifically, red grapefruit, among the main components). Beautiful, strong, round, bold, magnificent, tarty, tangy, zingy, almost sour, mouthwatering, almost edible citruses. With touches of spices, and a soft, and slightly powdery background. Very cheerful and happy. But this is not the typical basic eau de cologne. This fragance is sophisticated enough, mature and even sexy, like a bath tube of hot water with slices of fruits in which there is a beautiful woman taking a bath. Gorgeous. If you can, choose the Intense version, which is not in the Fragrantica database.
The piece of bad news is the lasting power, not as strong as would be desirable.

starts with a spicy ginger then quickly turns fruity. i think i get orange and lychee, and then some musk. the pomegranate must be next. it’s fruity but i think i sense some of the woods, though not that strongly. mostly a fruity scent with hints of ginger and modern synthetic chemicalness. not really for me, but glad to try a R&G any day!

I love this. It works perfectly on my skin..and it reminds me of Summer, everytime I use it.
The only problem is that it doesn’t last long..but, anyway, it’s not very expensive.

As with all other R&G fragrances I have ever tried, very natural-smelling.
I can smell the ginger, but under a strong, juicy fruity note. This fruity note is a bit sweet but not so sweet as it is usually the case with fruity notes nowadays. The main word I would use to characterize it is “juicy”. I can smell the litchi more than the pomegranate. Underneath, a hint of spicy notes and woods.
Linear (does not change over time) but interesting nonetheless. I would like it!

so fresh ..so crisp..so juicy ..so succulent.. so fine in an ordinary way..so tropical like a fruit punch with berries and exotic fruits…. so great.. so uplifting.. so invigorating.. so full of life.. bliss.. and happiness ..so alive ..so bright.. so full.. so opulent ..yet sheer.. so fruity ..so tart.. so fruity ..almost sweet.. but not sickly sweet.. perfect for summer ..and tropical weather..i wish i was the queen of Sheba and had people just spraying this all over me wherever i went.. for i get tired from re applying ..the longevity is so poor.. but its a pleasure just to reapply ..to refresh ..to re energies your entire being..a truly lovely.. hip.. modern ..luscious.. yes this is the word i was looking for ..its utterly luscious ..juicy.. something you’d almost want to drink.. but perfumey ..at the same time ..it initially reminded me of the escads special summer collection.. the tropical fruity ones ..but this one has a bit more tartness.. and crispness and a bit of a wintry berry feel to it ..almost like gooseberry or cranberry ..they say its all about ginger ..hmmmm i love ginger but this doesn’t smell like the ginger we use in food as a fresh ginger root but the only thing is that ginger.. is anti nauseating and this perfume to me is also de nausiating..its vibrant its full of red currants and pomegranates its full of clean white silvery musks ..that make it stay high up there.. with the fluffy white clouds of angels..such a pure virgin.. naughty.. luscious connotation.. of subtly mesmerizing accords.. of bliss..almost watery.. almost aquatic.. almost fragile.. but with a character.. with a hot heart..
how can something like this be sticky and sickly.. and linger forever ..such fragile soles like this tend to flee the scene quickly.. or else they ll be too much to take..its essence lies in its fluffiness.. and sweet vibrant ..watery ..juicy ..accords.. a hint of every citrus y mandarin ..and litchi.. and a hint of ceder to tone it down ..all my favorite citruses and fruitiness in one.. what else can i ask for ..i didn’t buy anything on the spot for a very long time.. i even wanted to get the 200 ml but its stil not out..i am sure its gonna finish pretty soon and i ll be going for seconds ..its what i ve been craving for a while now..i just wish it lasted a bit longer on me its 20 min tops..but i wear it for my personal pleasure.. keep it in bag for an instant refreshing splash ..

Very very unusual fragrance, opens with a fresh burst of pomegranate, I kinda get the lychee drydown in there, smells a little soapy I guess. The let down is the longevity, this must be something you love wearing, as others won’t get much of a chance to notice it. Nice, but it’s a very light cologne that’s gone in literally 30 minutes.

Oh!A great surprise from R&G !Far from “cologne” effect so much other R&G have,happy,spicy,uplifting,but….as always the same issue with longevity….

This is a lovely fresh-spicy, fruity scent. really very pleasant. Unfortunately the longevity is pretty dire on me, so I’m going to be giving my bottle away.
