Description
“A ghazal is an Islamic love poem of unful lled, eternal desire. Arranged into couplets, and often accompanied by music, each portion of the whole is a poem unto itself – like a single pearl in an elegant strand. The words can be interpreted as both a mortal love story and a poem of devotion to the Divine.
An enduring theme has been presented throughout the generations. The beloved is beautiful, unattainable and either aloof or intoxicated – seeking pleasure elsewhere, while the loyal and devoted lover suffers the misery of a never-ending and unrequited love, likened to the feeling of being separated from God. As the oldest form of poetry still in use, the ghazal celebrates love despite the pain it brings.
Noble, irreplaceable essences were married in the creation of Ghazal – a devotional fragrance of sacred nature and supreme beauty.” – a note from the brand.
Ghazal was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Christi Meshell.

I’ve only had the chance to smell Cedars of Lebanon oil once so when I heard Ghazal by HoM would feature this scent I was intrigued to try it. The scent profile of Cedars of Lebanon is very distinct and has subtleties that can easily be ruined or overshadowed by other oils. However, Christi Meshell managed to let all of the beauties of Cedars of Lebanon shine in Ghazal. The perfume has a lightness and subtle beauty that makes it wonderful with layers upon layers of deep woods and the alluring scent of genuine ambergris. I’m sure this one will age beautifully for years to come. A collectors item for sure!
