Gendarme plus a candy apple at the ocean. I like it.

Great Flanker to the original Gendarme! It’s different, more green but still very alluring and pleasant like the original. Robert Downey Jr. wears it. Classy!

This is like Gendarme but with a sweet note that comes from the civet and tonka. The original Gendarme is prone to anosmia. The sweet notes get rid of that problem and make this a very good fragrance. Very soapy and definitely masculine.

The opening of V is rather remarkable for its fizz and effervescence. Gradually, it becomes evident that this is merely a prelude to a rather dusty rose, or whatever heavy florals one finds in the genre of Ungaro III, Van Cleef and Arpels, or Czech and Speake #88. Masculine rose scents never really do anything for me personally, so I would never buy this stuff. Still, if a fan of those brands wanted a slightly more summery analog for his collection, then Gendarme V might be a good place to start the search.

It’s a good, clean scent but the vetiver here is a little too medicinal for me. Sillage is higher for me than other posters; still noticeable 8+ hours after spraying.
This scent is pretty much identical to Swiss Army, slightly more floral but with more sillage.

I like this scent just as I like the other Gendarme scents. It would easily be my favorite scent if it had some power to it. V is so clean and soapy. It smells great but doesn’t last.

If there’s civet in this, then I don’t smell it.
Straight out of the bottle: clean, grassy vetiver and ylang ylang with a little bit of basil underneath. The vetiver and ylang ylang are basically the whole fragrance, and it lasts quite a while.
As with all Gendarme fragrances, the sillage is low, but you’ll catch whiffs of the stuff hours after you first put it on. Gendarme V is getting harder and harder to find, so get it while it’s still available if you want a unique clean scent.
