I wore jungle gardenia in the 1970s and loved it. I have hunted for something with the same indolic notes and this is the closest version I have identified. I cannot say whether the formula is the same, but this fragrance has the same feel. As others have mentioned longevity is poor, but I find layering it with a good quality gardenia body lotion helps a great deal.
This is superior to the first Tuvache gardenia sold on the long lost perfumes website (I still have about half of the bottle).
This is deeper and richer than Dana gardenia, Island Gardenia, Elizabeth Taylor Gardenia, Gardenia Passion and Sand and Sable.
When a great love disappears, we must carry on and find other loves to be happy about. I am happy about this one.

Jungle Gardenia, relaunched and renamed. I awaited this so eagerly and was a bit disappointed. This is not the original 1933 formulation. It is the 60’s reformulation, in which tuberose and narcissus dominate and the gardenia is played down. It smells more like Caron’s Narcisse Noir than Jungle Gardenia. If you like tuberose you will be thrilled with this. I’ve heard Narcisse Noir has been discontinued, this would be a wonderful replacement. But if you don’t like tuberose or want a more gardenia scent, give it a pass.

I am a true gardenia lover and was looking for lush creamy heady romance like In Bloom but richer. Sadly this didn’t deliver in the bottle or on my skin. Smelled inexpensive and thin. Still hunting for a true gardenia.

Almost an exact replica of the original Jungle Gardenia from Tuvache. Only one problem. It’s TOO WEAK!!! It has to be reapplied every half hour! What a TEASE! Who are these people kidding? It says eau de parfum, but this wears like aftershave. Please make it stronger!

As a user of the original Tuvache Jungle Gardenia, I am looking forward to trying this Gardenia 1933. Will report back later after I’ve tried it.

My only memories of Jungle Gardenia are of my grandmother wearing it when I was a kid in the eighties. If I had tested Gardenia 1933 blind, I would have sworn it was my grandmother’s perfume. I’m sure there are differences when compared side by side but I’m really impressed with this current formulation. Gardenia 1933 is such a beautiful scent, a very loud white floral with a heavy benzoin/musk/sandalwood dry down. Despite being weaker than the original, it is plenty potent for me. The floral notes fade faster than I remember in the original formulation but the base notes stick around for an entire work day with no need to reapply. I am so glad I stumbled upon this little gem. Nostalgia. Comfort. Happiness. I love this perfume.

Oh so close to the very vintage original Jungle Gardenia which I also own and love. Gardenia 1933 is missing some of the longevity , sillage and punch of the original but the very reasonable price certainly makes it worth a try.
