Description
In autumn 2012 Tommy Hilfiger presents a new fragrance for men named Freedom. The truth is that this will be the second fragrance with the same name after the popular fragrant pair of this house presented in 1999 (Freedom for Her and Freedom for Him).
Tommy Hilfiger Freedom is designed for people who enjoy life to the full every day. Inspired by the sea and by the abundance of possibilities on endless horizon, the new fragrance is perfectly adapted to marine-sporty style characteristic of this house.
Tommy Hilfiger Freedom is inspired by man leader, decisive and self-confident man who can make business decisions as manager in any office or as steersman on a ship. His charisma, decisiveness and confidence are embodiment of courage. The composition to go along with his personality and style opens with lush, green notes of fresh leaves, basil and violet. Aromatic and precious shades are provided by clary sage combined with juniper. Richness of nuances is expended by white pepper and ginger combined with orange blossom and coriander in addition to salty sunny and light accords. The base includes vetiver notes mixed with salty driftwood and creamy sandalwood shades.
Tommy Hilfiger Freedom arrives in a simple and beautiful glass flacon crowned with a relief silver stopper. Flacon of the new fragrance can be obtained as 30, 50 and 100ml EDT accompanied with 150ml shower gel. The fragrance can be expected on the market in October 2012.

After tommy by TH, freedom is my favorite fragrance from this house. It’s a well balanced aromatic clean-fresh-marine fragrance , perfect for summe, going to the beach or a day out! I have a lot of compliments while wearing this fragrance, longevity is quite pretty good. 100% recommended
апенргошлщ – :
This is completely different from the 1st edition of Tommy Hilfiger’s Freedom. I was kinda expecting something near or similar to the original scent itself, but unfortunately, it lacks that certain spiciness like the old one. Although I’m not saying that this in not spicy enough, it’s just somehow different/lacking which makes it a letdown for me. A bit too strong and synthetic as well, I’m a bit disappointed with this Freedom version 2.0. (•̆︿•̆)
lvl364Diobtetty – :
A decent salty and fresh summer scent and very similar to Tom Fords Costa Azzura to a fraction of the price you would have to pay to get TF. The driftwood-Salt combo gives the whole thing a classy oceanic vibe. Longevity and projection are on the weaker side of things but i have no problem with it when it comes to summer scents.
yariko – :
This smelled like the wind, air, being at a beach or on a cruise it was fresh a really great scent blended well. I’m sorry I cannot add more to this review because it was gone in maybe a minute. It vanished as soon as I spreayed it on myself with 3 sprays
evgenforeva – :
First freedom version was pretty nice with a light & fresh fruity drydown. Nothing exceptional but nice. This version is a lot of whatever cheap fresh stuff with a fish smell from the beginning till the end. you can’t even say it smells like the sea or the ocean. It smells like fish. Awfull. How stupid to have stop the first version to have it replaced with such a detestable cheap fragrance.
Sergafan wkf – :
i’m just confused about it
it’s quite similar to joop nightflight
who try nightflight and freedom find tha same ?
am i wrong ?
by the way its perfect
boxgamers – :
I absolutely love this fragrance. If there were a fragrance called “the beach”, this would be it. It has a very fresh salty tone to it. The longevity is excellent, like most Tommy Hilfiger fragrances.
bobrinnna – :
On my nose it opens very fresh and then becomes too salty for my personal taste! I tried to use it many times, but it seems that the fragrance just doesn’t fit me. Longevity and projection are both ok. If you like the salty and fresh vibe, I believe you can enjoy it, specially in the summer time!
clolecype – :
Ita have you smelling Cool as a Cumcumber
korney45 – :
fresh cucumber and sea salt. hint of pepper, ginger and sandalwood. Great for the summertime. I’d say its a good cheapie, sort of like Nautica voyage. I actually like the smell when I open the cap,but I cant stand the way it feels on my skin. Its weird that way. Its the only one I own that when I spray it on, I want to wash off. I got a full bottle and probably will give it away as a gift.
andrei196716 – :
Very fresh and sweet smelling scent. I have great longevity and projection from this fragrance after only 3 sprays. I can still smell myself after an 8 hour shift, and I work at a coffee shop. Certainly one of my favorite summer scent in my collection.
Cyncsenna – :
The dry down is heavenly fresh. Ideal for spraying all over yourself on a sunny day at the beach. Very alluring fresh scent. Only if it could last longer. 3 hours max for me but it is A lovely scent and I will take this over Acqua di Gio. They are cousins.
Lymnkeync – :
the sandalwood and pepper sets the tone in this fragrance, strong and manly, but I also love to use, the smell of a morning seaside
manowar1984home – :
See other Freedom for Him from Tommy Hilfiger page. It has the correct notes. This is the relaunched new bottle and box.
Trefont – :
If you look at the ingredients list on the side of the box, you will find it has citronellol = lemon, linalool = lavender, limonene = orange, geraniol = rose etc. None of these notes are included in the list. This happens quite a lot. I think they just want you to think it smells like something to make you want to buy it, when it really doesn’t. These chemical ingredients are the same ones found in most fragrances. They don’t differ all that much actually.
Entainyseanny – :
First hour top notes mellon sent after that drydown is hornet spray… this stuff is discusting.waste of my money.
PRESTIGE – :
i didn’t even expect to like this one, but it’s a nice clean fragrance. perfect for summer or everyday use, a crowd pleaser and inoffensive, and it suits perfectly for office wear. just like the name: feel the freedom.
icersape59 – :
Wonderful fragrance. Love this scent. Hadn’t I sampled it, I wouldn’t have bothered after reading the not-so-positive reviews. I’m so glad I did, though!
I particularly enjoy Freedom for its natural feel. Some may call it “cucumber”, I call it cucumber, fresh plants, the sea… Not a bad thing at all. Compared to Nautica Voyage, I find this more discreet while just as long-lasting, and with a much more natural feel. Compared to Versace Pour Homme, this is more delicate and, to my taste, more natural.
I simply love the “fresh green plants” feel to this water, with a powdery touch into the drydown. It’s a thoroughly pleasant scent that I wholeheartedly identify with, as a person of calm temperament who enjoys outdoors and nature greatly. Also, this fragrance is not linear – it develops over time, and I enjoy every minute of it. This scent makes my day.
For me, this was just what I was looking for. 10/10.
Update (having worn it more):
1. Yes, it is indeed that great. I compared it side-by-side with the legendary Acqua di Gio and without hesitation I prefer Hilfiger’s Freedom. So don’t be put off by the low rating here on Fragrantica, you might be missing out…
2. The way I’d best describe Freedom’s scent is, bear with me, a grass candy drenched in sea water.
mvs60 – :
I definitely love this scent.
I smell lots of calone, melozone and ozonic (cucumber-ish) notes. This makes it a very 90’s fragance.
The only thing that makes this fragrance stand out from the rest is the saltyness.
Upon application the scent is really fresh, but not in a “cold” way, more like a woodsy herbal fresh.
The dry down is really nice, the scent turns into the something like “i had sun lotion on, i went for a swimm in the sea and my skin dried on the sun”
Longevity is ok (around 6 or 7 hours), though the person using it stops smelling it after a short while, probably due to saturation.
Sillage is really poor, but since the scent is really “salty skin” like, it doesnt bother me.
Thumbs up for this one
Aerohopleneriqhn – :
Poor longevity and even poorer sillage. But I like this. Mainly because I dig green scents.
This is extremely green, marine and cucumber-like. Nothing else. Use it maybe as a refreshing splash when you hang around a swimming pool in hot, hot summer.
advireere – :
If you’re into smelling like a fresh cucumber, go for it. Otherwise, don’t even bother. I honestly can’t smell anything else there. And on top of that, staying power is poor.
cas13rus – :
don’t know the fragrance, just came here to comment on the design: the freedom-Logo being crossed out on the bottle. now that is beyond bitter sweet, to put it delicately… but when i see hilfiger clothes or advertisement or people it seems to make alot of sense.
i know just tommy girl among their frags. i kinda remember it being hilfiggerishly cool.
NikitosLiAZ – :
Fresh, soapy, salty, briny…
Very linear, does not bloom or develop much; a saltier and brinier version of Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio. There is an underlying soft powder note in the background.
The sage and herbal notes also add a slight spiciness to this fragrance.
Tommy Hilfiger Freedom (new) is perfect for the Spring and Summer months and very wearable to the office.
Oddly, this has a muggy quality along with a salty armpit kind of scent but not in a bad way; a just showered body, salty-skin scent.
I do like this one.

Help. Somebody has shoved a cucumber and tuna sandwich into a blender and bottled it.
Seriously, don’t you smell something fishy about it?
I will end it here and not bitch about how Hilfiger probably expects its big brand name to guarantee it success with fragrances.
I’m kidding, as long as you can stand the cucumber and want something to wear in the sun then this is fine.
4/10 because I can’t stand cucumber.
6.5/10 if I could stand the cucumber.
10/10 if I could force Tommy Hilfiger to sit on a cucumber.

another awful cucumber aquatic concoction I still dont understand why they keep on producing these kind of chemicals detergent for skin otherwise cannot believe that are men proud to wear this kind of nosekillers .I PREFER TO USE MY BATH FOAM INSTEAD OF THIS
2/10
kahamed – :
jeki2010 – :
good projection, good longevity but smelss poor. nothing new. like the cheap “colognes” in the markets.
don’t get close
Storoz – :
remarkable stuff ,totally love it <3

I recently gave this a review on Youtube the day I got it, and since then it has grown on me. The scent to this is very nice, fresh and crisp. Today was the first day I wore it to work, sprayed it on about 14 hours ago and I still faintly smell it on my skin… The longevity is real good, a lot better than I originally gave it.
Projection still unsure, but it lasts and smells good, the dry down reminds me so much of sea water vaporizing on your skin in the sun. This isn’t given enough credit, yet. Hopefully it will start to get some good recognition.
moibritosig – :
The cucumber in this one drowns out any other notes that may be, but are probably not, present. It is exceedingly bland and simple. It is a serious contender for the least cerebral fragrance ever concocted.
smbo – :
Freedom from… well, any scent at all, really. Is there some kind of contest going on for the most non-existent, underwhelming and watery fragrance for men? This one almost beats Bulgari Man – that, too, was almost like spraying water on my arm.
Or is Freedom an olfactory metaphor for the sorry state of affairs men are in these days? Sort of not there?
reyver – :
This is a real nice offering since the release of Loud. There is a striking resemblance to Mark Birley for Men. It is light and airy, very Birleyesque, but with half the price tag. Interested in the “nose” behind this. Well done Tommy!
sanek15 – :
y so negative about this one? i found its very sweet men fragrance..its so Tommy..the projection & sillage is just medium though. good for Tommy fans & collectors.
CezarMargo – :
Pls I need information about tester pack -Apart from NOT FOR SALE written on the bottle is tester pack same as original pack?I’m talking about content only. Thanks!
userAB – :
Walked past this in the dept store last week, had a spritz on a tester card and had to try it on my skin after that. It is vaguely similar (but way lighter than) to New West (for her) by Aramis, in an aquatic way only; a frag I still have a bottle of that was discontinued in the 90s I think. Watermelon and oceanic notes, I would wear this myself. The hubby like it too and he is notoriously fussy about almost everything. Go for the real deal, find yourself a bottle of New West and skip this one though would be my advice.

I was at the store yesterday and was surprised to see this fragrance sitting on the display case. I was extremely excited to see this as the original Freedom released in 1999 is one of my favorite summer fragrances.
Without hesitation I sprayed the fragrance and boy was I disappointed – definitely nothing like the original. Needless to say, I ended up washing it off and didn’t give it a chance dry down.
Karch13 – :
Surprising there is no cucumber in it ! For me it’s definitely something watery, woody and a bit muggy.
Kerdalok – :
Hey guys, is it the same with the one released in 1999?
avacleGem – :
Dead fish… a sad joke
pihovkin – :
Got a tester of this Freedom from TH.
Sprayed it on my skin. Two full sprays. Opens up with a water menthol effervescence. I do get a bit of basil but it’s more like a non complicated menthol. I am sorry to say that is also watery, as in watered down like a diluted drink. Lacks body. Like a watered down drink, diluted with soda water.
I let rest for a while. The the effervescence disappeared a bit. A bit more depth and body appearing. Now i do get violet notes, orange blossom and coriander notes. Not bad, i must say. Not offending would be a better choice of words. It’s still too thin.
After a bit more resting, i must now really do my best to get a smell. It’s now getting a faint bubble gummy scent. Poor longevity and very soft sillage.
No. I don’t really like this. I don’t dislike it, as it is not offending. But the perfumes i do own, and love, have way more character, depth, identity, power and assertiveness.
Maybe this is because it is a tester?
