This starts off with beautiful honeysuckle and lily. Suddenly on settling I get a little of the chloride note. What a shock. Thankfully that fades quite a lot and then I get the jasmine along with the other white floral. There is little sweetness and it’s almost a green sappy smell.
I don’t know where the Amber in this.
I don’t get Anais Anais at all unless it was fleeting at the start.
I get moderate longevity and sillage

This is the one and only blind buy I have ever ordered and my feelings are mixed. Sometimes I can’t get enough of the luxurious white flowers. At other times, however, the smell becomes overly sweet and too old-fashioned. This is a fragrance that could bother those around me so I would never wear it to work.

I like Fragonard, but it does feel somewhat dated. This is a Big White Floral in an old-fashioned style. There are plenty of modern BWFs and some legendary BWFs that never smell out of date (Fracas), Fragonard isn’t one of them.
The notes list is missing petitgrain and galbanum which are prominent in the top note. At the heart note, Fragonard is primarily a vehicle for honeysuckle and lily. Both notes are beautiful and authentic, but overall it seems somewhat old-fashioned to my nose. There’s also some slightly oily hyacinth in the heart. The bottom has a bit of musk and amber.
I like Fragonard as a piece of history. Unfortunately, I don’t especially want to wear it.

This was my first Fragonard and remains one of my all-time favorite perfumes. There is something intoxicating about this scent. It’s best for spring or fall, and is suitable for day or evening wear. When I first purchased it I got the edt in a glass bottle, and for some reason I think I preferred that over what I have now, which is the parfum. I think it might be the aluminum flacon that I dislike; when you sniff the bottle there is a strong metallic scent that I find distracting. Nevertheless, it’s a gorgeous, heady fragrance, and the one responsible for beginning my obsession with perfumes!

I tried this after getting 5 Fragonard EDT testers and was really disapponted. This scent is definitely not for young women and teenage girls. That’s all I can say.

I am a BIG fan of Fragonard perfumes and love their Mimosa and oranger which are a lot better than top end perfumes.
I bought this from ebay after reading reviews and I so wanted to like it and on initial application I thought it was lovely but after 10 minutes it seemed very strong and then the headache started. It could be however that I was a bit too generous with the spraying. I can smell the Honeysuckle and Jasmine which to me dominates. I have been wearing it now for about 2 hours and I can still smell it strongly. I think with this one you only need a couple of sprays or maybe just spray in the air and walk into it. This is only an EDT but I find Fragonard’s EDT are as strong as a EDP and long lasting but this one is the strongest and a bit loud. Not sure if I will keep this one but will give it another go and maybe not spray so much on.

In the spring, I love to wear white flowers.
After Easter, the white color theme is popular in my wardrobe. White florals abound in this beautiful fragrance by Fragonard made of more natural extracts and oils and not as sugar-coated and artificial as the gourmands and celebrity scents or the sleepy mists of today’s designer labels. This is a French perfume with a brilliant and sophisticated white floral tapestry. Though the notes are few, the fragrance feels more complex and is a long lasting scent because of the amber in the base. My personal feelings for this frag far outweigh whatever simple chemical make-up it has. This is absolutely lovely.
Fragonard opens with a zesty and fresh juicy orange from the bergamot orange tree. This is a delicious bergamot which in perfume comes through as fresh and invigorating but without being medicinal or masculine. The orange scent comes and goes before it embraces a very distinct honeysuckle scent. The honeysuckle is very realistic to actual honeysuckle so I’m sure the nose and the Fragonard perfumers collected not only honeysuckle but jasmine from Grasse where Fragonard is based. The honeysuckle is spicy and somewhat peppery, giving the white florals a spicier edge rather than taming them as light powdery white flowers. The lilies and jasmines are somewhat green and herbal with an outdoorsy air. They smell like catching whiffs of jasmine and lily (including lily of the valley) from the perspective of a pedestrian in a forest. In this sense it resembles the classic Diorissimo by Dior with that heady and very famous lily of the valley note. It is different as well in that it lacks the same kind of florals and the musky-woods. This is not woodsy at all and instead relies heavily on rich ambers and citrus. It’s a solar kind of white floral, sunny, sweet, glamorous and refined.
The lily & lily of the valley note are bright, green, little bit herbal and soapy. The amber dry down is bliss. This is a In today’s market it would come off as being a mature older woman perfume made up of white flowers but one need only to break away from such stereotypes in perfumery. A white flower is a white flower. If you happen to like white flowers regardless of age, then Fragonard Fragonard is for you. The sensuality of this fragrance (YES! Sensuality) is coming from the smooth silken texture of the white flowers as if the petals are caressing your skin. This for me is an intimate white floral but not powdery and soft enough for the boudoir. It’s meant to be worn out in public. As other reviewers have noted, it might suit a bride on her big day. It can be worn as a fashion statement with a glamorous evening gown and or a day time affair but has to be a formal event. This is French perfumery at it’s finest. It’s also something I like for bath oils and for domestic type fragrances (hand soaps) so I wish this came as a hand soap or a bar of soap for the shower or a bath oil. Beautiful and very expensive French fragrance of a white floral haze.
    Bravo Fragonard

Beautiful! I now know what to buy (if I can find it) if I cannot ever find my beloved Anais Anais anymore (the vintage). This is big, classic floral perfumery at its finest. Big bouquet of sumptuous, spiced flowers, hyacinth and lily notably on a musky and ambered base. Big love and thumbs up, thanks Nikos!

Every once in a while, I will come across a perfume so stunning that I wonder why I even bother testing any further. Here, the perfume wanderer needs to pause and just stop. And maybe stay put because where else could such loveliness exist?
Fragonard Fragonard is an absolutely glorious floral perfume – exceptionally high quality in every way possible. Honeysuckle, lily and a delicate jasmine burst forth with incredibly fresh essences.
This is perfection in a bottle to me – perfection that is artless and graceful as only nature can be. It melds together wonderfully on my skin – not too sharp or too subdued – sillage and longevity are excellent. What more to say? I just wish I had bought the 200 ml bottle instead of 100 ml. Yes, its that good.

Okay, well, don’t anyone go inventing any more perfumes on my behalf, will you! I do believe I may have found my forever ‘fume for the next – I don’t know – maybe the next decade of my life.
It’s a real beauty. It goes on a little loud – which seems to me to be pretty standard behaviour for Fragonard – but let it settle down a bit and it’s bewitchingly lovely, the lily and clean jasmine dominant on me.
What strikes me: totally floralicious; a bit soapy shower clean; and at the same time, also ethereally lovely. A very feminine fragrance for anyone from a girl with long shiny hair, to a young mother of little children, to a woman of any age with a kind and gentle heart. Just lovely!

The scent has got to be one of the best floral perfumes I have ever smelled–to my nose, a perfectly balanced blend of sweet honeysuckle and jasmine on a sensual base of clean musk and amber. It is an extremely feminine white floral that exudes timeless elegance, both innocent and sexy at the exact same time. It has easily become one of my favorites of all time. I couldn’t understand what possessed me to order a huge 4oz bottle of this because I don’t really like Anais Anais – that high sharp note that doesn’t fade – is that the hyacinth? I’ve kept it unopened because I was going to send it back. Finally after reading your reviews a hundred times I relented, opened the box and I’ve just tried it. Absolutely gorgeous! What was I thinking?

  13. :

    4 out of 5

Beautiful. Just beautiful. First off, the most wonderful jasmine and lily. One of the best white florals I’ve ever smelled, with obviously very fine ingredients. The honeysuckle note is very well done – and the lily doesn’t smell off to me at all; it all smells like a bouquet, very fresh, very real, with that touch of green from the stems. I’ve adored this scent from first sniff and also applaud the golden canisters which I much prefer to glass bottles, keeping the scent cool and away from light (I wish Rive Gauche still came in canisters!).
I’m not an Anais Anais fan but this, I love. I can’t work that out! But I’ll be buying this as long as they make it.
A few hours after application it becomes a wafty but persistent jasmine, no heavy musks or spices underpinning it, but you can still smell it next morning… Recommended – 10/10

Yes, what everyone has already said! Absolutely classy French floral in every single divine and whimsical way! A softer and far more romantically inclined version of Anais Anais to my nose, and lyrically different in the composition of its bouquet. I just bought a pick n mix of samples from a local trading site and to my utter delight, there was an untouched 5ml bottle of this beauty in amongst the treasures! Oh happy day!
PS For some reason, this scent sends me on a trip back to the day when I first smelt L’Air d’Temps. Something about both perfumes’ intrinsically French essence, I think, that detail to the blend without sacrificing any quality of ingredients – and also not overdoing it. Knowing when to leave it alone and let it sing its own unique song. Utterly beautiful.

    Based on EDT concentration.
Upon spraying, the similarity of Fragonard EDT and Anaïs Anaïs is easy to spot: the green tinge of hyacinth and galbanum, the chalky lily and the slightly indolic jasmine are shared by both. However, while Anaïs Anaïs sometimes feels a bit cold and distant to me, Fragonard somehow feels more approacheable.
Sniffing Fragonard, is like sniffing a lush and harmonious bouquet of white flowers with delicate greenness. The powdery lily renders it irresistably romantic; the jasmine contributes to its sensuality; the honeysuckle and reticent amber splash golden hue on the bouquet. There is a mandarine nuance complementing the fruity aspect of jasmine and honeysuckle.
The sillage of Fragonard is moderate to soft and the longevity is around 9 hours. Fragonard is a sensual yet delicate white floral, feminine, romantic with a retro vibe, natural smelling and relatively affordable. Not something original, but a solid white floral composition that I’d definitely recommend.

Parfam concentration is an important for FF lovers, I’m wearing it now and it is great. I’m a n5 wearer and this is a REAL jasmine bouquet theme, unlike n5 which hides jasmine note cleverly.

I am so happy that I found Fragonard, it is an ultra feminine, sweet, voluptuos floral, a little soapy, but in a good way. Yes it is quite reminiscent of Anais Anais, but somehow Fragonard smells more ‘Natural’ to me, and is without the screechy harsh notes which I have found to be present in AA.
I have the EDT version, but would like to invest in the EDP concentrate as the EDT lasts only a couple of hours.
I wore it today, and received two compliments on how nice I smelled.

I like this fragrance because of the lily note, reminding white lily scent.
This fragrance and Anais Anais by Cacharel are really alike: lilies, vintage scent…
    Nice light fragrance!

Simply yummy and happy. The floral aspect really shines through. Honeysuckle? Wait for the drydown before assessing, it’s worth it. Classical floral elegance with a subtle warmth.

Fragonard is a cozy, warm blanket of heavenly juice! This smells very rich, creamy, romantic, enticing,French style… and the lasting power and projection is magnificent!

This is an absolutely lovely scent and I find the lily and the honeysuckle to be prominent. I do find it to be quite similar to Anais Anais (or my memory of that perfume, anyway) and for that reason I will not be buying Fragonard, as I used to wear Anais Anais in hgh school…

  22. :

Fragonard brings to mind several classic floral scents I own or used to own: Joy, Fidji, Anais Anais … probably others, too. Which is not to say it smells just like any of them. It is not a knock-off, and I mention those scents only as a reference point.
I have the Parfum concentration and it is fabulous. Two tiny squirts provide longevity and sillage that lasts all day, 12 hours or more. I save this one for days that I’m certain I will only want to wear one scent for the entire day.
I’m six hours in and the florals are still going strong. I don’t detect bergamot at all and the base note of amber has yet to make its appearance. Must love classic French-style perfumes, must love florals. Love both? Fragonard is perfect for you.

A very rich bride bouquet. It´s flowers in their pristine state, pure and clear at the beginning. Later I can feel a light citric note, and the warm tones of amber, but the flowers – honeysuckle in particular – never leave the front.
The sillage is very good, the longevity in me, on a hot day, about 5 hours.
It´s been one of my favorites for years and always will be.

At beginning crystalline and fresh like virgin´s funeral on mild spring day. But soon I smell also the brownish water at bottom of a vase with decaying lilies. Is it what people call “animalic”?

I bought a 37ml bottle of this scent in eau de parfum format when we first visited the South of France a number of years ago, and was instantly hooked. Gradually it’s become my key scent, overtaking Chanel 5 which I think I’d perhaps overused for a time.
The original and the best of all Fragonard fragrances, the perfume house’s signature EDP is a clever piece of chemistry, in that it presents itself as a simple floral, but I think there is far more going on here than meets the eye. Despite the initial floral blast, this is no “youthful, girly” fragrance, gone in a flash. It needs to be worn by someone who appreciates the journey.
The scent comes out strong and kicking, enveloping the body with an incredible headrush of sparkly honeysuckle and jasmine, ably supported by deeper tones of heavy white lilac; the first notes of which are reminiscent of En Passant by Fredric Malle, which I also adore but which sadly disappears off my skin in less than a couple of hours. Eventually those delicious warm, lingering amber base notes come through. The combination of this and the lilac hugs the skin all milky-musky and piquant, strongly reminiscent of the head of a sleeping new-born baby – there is just no other way of describing it! This is the stage I love the most, it is both delicious and addictive.
Be warned – the EDP is a deception. Don’t spray around other people, unless you want them all to be wearing your scent – it will be distinctly noticeable from a good distance away for a very long time. And despite its strong initially standardised florals; the smooth evolution into new and equally powerful heart and base notes, and its sheer scent longevity (7-8 hours +) makes it so much more than a one or two note teenage romance.
Fragonard is a very sophisticated scent, when seen through to the end. I buy a new bottle of EDP direct from the factory in Eze at least once a year. Try the EDT (which M&S stocks) if you are only after the initial floral hit. But if you want pick up those marvellous milky, musky base notes, don’t go with anything less than the EDP. It’s worth the extra effort for this reason alone.
A traditional smelling classic in the realms of Channel 5, and currently my everyday go-to perfume.

Fragonard is a must-have for honeysuckle lovers because it’s a 99% honeysuckle scent. I can get a little bergamot and lily at the top and some amber in the bottom but other than that it’s a heavy honeysuckle. And it lasts long. I’m not a fan of honeysuckle but if I were Fragonard would my biggest treasure.

  27. :

I am not friend of honeysuckle and green notes. Heady, strong, longlasting unpleasant stuff for me. Very significant and unique. Perfect for hot days for a woman with short hair.

Fragonard is a truly opulent, rich, warm white flower- buquet.
It’s starts quiet strong jasmine, lily and hyacint accord but after a few minutes the honeysuckle, some herbal-green notes and amber makes the scent sweet, complex, rich and soft.
This essence recall the sweet memories of my childhood’s Easter mornings.:)

  29. :

    5 out of 5

I love all Fragonard creations, but this is my special. It smells quite strong, but heady flowers (honeysuckle and lily) make a fine curl and lay on skin very delicately. This bouquet is so French.

  30. :

    5 out of 5

I’m enjoying Fragonard immensely because it has such simplistic beauty. This is a wonderfully balanced composition, with every note complimenting the other in perfect harmony.
There is a hint of zesty bergamot, which gives this fragrance a slight energetic feel. Mostly this fragrance is centered around the lily, honeysuckle and the jasmine, creating this sensuous yet green and leafy bouquet.
It’s a very classic scent, like one you might wear on your wedding day. I’d certainly wear this fragrance if I was to wed on a rainy day in Rome, it has that cold yet romantic feel to it.
Fragonard makes you feel like a woman, a wise and elegant one at that. There’s something very clean and crisp about the scent too, which makes it more likable on the skin.
It’s along the lines of Diorissimo, just not as pink and Spring-like. Fragonard feels much plainer, but in no way boring, it just relies on its wearer to make something out of it. The scent makes me think of lotion and wedding dresses, there’s no other way for me to describe it.
Not really a fragrance to make a statement, but one that will garner many compliments. I highly recommend.

I fnd that in general honeysuckle and jasmine combined tend to create a very leafy green nuance to a perfume – this has certainly been true for Annick Goutal’s Eau de Camille and Le Chevrefeuille.
To my nose though Fragonard is infinitely more palatable and accessible. It has a very elegant dusty lily nestled in a bed of sweet leaves that just smells so…yesteryear and gracious.
Fragonard is a truly beautiful scent.

  32. :

Fragonard stands alone,on a stong foundation! To my nose, Fragonard is much better than Fidji! Of course this is a warm and feminine floral that is perfectly sweet-not too much-and each note is perfect to my nose, but lily doesn’t stick out (upstaged by jasmine and honeysuckle). I can picture this on some breathtakingly beautiful woman who doesn’t wear much makeup, if any, nor does she dress flashy or sexy in a modern way. Reminds me of the beautiful long dresses women in Italy wear during the summer-sleek, modest yet very pretty (while many of the long dresses here in America are mostly frumpy and dull, and the familiar sillage of the modest but sophisticated is much colder….)
Fidji is much more dry and Oriental-like, and I can smell the patchouli throughout-but this is pure flowers-stunning, and would be “intoxicating” were it too much. Fragonard’s namesake is svelte–unmatched traditional perfume rather than commercial or niche. May Fragonard never change this formula!
I feel beautiful, even sexy but ageless-neither above or beneath my years-wearing Fragonard.I could see myself wearing this wonder for years to come.

i admit i am new to the brand Fragonard; i only discovered it after becoming a member of this wonderful fragrance forum! I am hooked though; there is not one Fragonard scent so far I do not like. this is no exception! As Sherapop mentioned, there is no synthetic or plastic scent with this brand. My favorite right now is the discontinued gem Baroque *tears*, but I am also very fond of FRAGONARD, Belle De Nuit, Miranda, and well, all of them! I got one of those 10 mini parfum packs which was a fantastic way for me to really fall for the Fragonard brand. I have a big bottle of Juste un Baiser which I will wear in spring to really test it (it’s so light & fruity), & just yesterday I ordered a 50ml bottle of Grain De Soleil without ever sniffing! With the Fragonard brand, I am comfortable buying without sniffing. 🙂 Anyway, as for FRAGONARD, I have the Parfum, & it makes me think of a lush, fragrant bed of flowers in the spring. I normally don’t like honeysuckle much, (especially bath & body works) but I am loving the honeysuckle & lily I pick up! Kudos to Fragonard!!

I have been admiring FRAGONARD, a high quality beautiful bouquet of white flowers, all day. What a joy to breath in fresh, genuine floral essences. Just say “no” to sour, stale, ersatz, synthetic chemical soup!
This wonderful edt transports me back to the South of France: Nice, Eze, and above all Grasse, where I made a pilgrimage a few years ago. Fields of flowers abound at every turn, and there are plenty of people around who genuinely care about the *art* of perfume. Everyone who loves perfume needs to visit Grasse–and not just virtually, through the sinister film “Perfume: Story of a Murderer”…
FRAGONARD is a truly scrumptious floral: I can dive into this bouquet and be happy for hours. The edt has good staying power and the drydown remains gently and tenderly floral. Honeysuckle and neroli are especially noteworthy to my nose.
Although I generally steer clear of supersize bottles of fragrance, in this case, I am happy that I purchased the 200ml bottle–more to love and share!!!

I just have to disagree with Jale about Fragonard being a copy of Fidji. Fidji is beautiful (I don’t have it but a friend of mine has it as her signature and I envy her) however it was created in 1966, whereas Fragonard has been going since 1926, at least the originals and my understanding is that this is the original.. though I could be wrong. Maybe not quite as lovely as Fidgi but to me quite different, softer maybe.

The essence of Grasse in a bottle! Fresh opulent floral of traditional heartland French fleures, anchored to earth by a rich amber base! This one is a forgotten treasure. I love the lily-honeysuckle notes always. For the romantic woman….
