Smell very similar to the Vert D’Encens, however, it’s less Christmas-y. Perfectly market for me. It could be seen as masculine and if the ad had had someone with a briefcase or shirt off that exactly how I would have approach it and it would have cause me to be cautious( I like to note that I am male myself, but associate and idolize strong, emotional feminine personas)
It’s the epitome of Unisex!
It has a strong feminine sweetness to it( think Youth dew) , but the notes are traditionally masculine (It’s not for teachers or matronly types–unless strong/dramatic teachers/mothers –nothing in Tom Ford line really is for the calm and agreeable …heck, its even not for briefcase guy previously mention)
The Tobacco sings, there has to be a little tonka in it too. The olibanum , which is an incense ingredient, sing here too, more so perhaps than the tobacco. It is what probably make it similar to Vert D’Encens.
Great memorable scent, glad to have a sample of Fougere Platine.

I deleted my older, positive review because I finally got to try this on skin and I have fallen out of love… On my skin, I get an unbearable Parmesan cheese note that overpowers everything else. It smells like Parmesan cheese- scented shaving cream. Absolutely horrific on my skin. Definitely sample before buying.

This smells very much like a mix of Tom Ford’s Noir Anthracite, Italian Cypress and Vert d’Encens and yet it has it’s beautiful own character!

Reminds me of MDCI Barbare Invasion.A powerful lavender with minty, dark green shades. Sweeter and stronger than Fougere d’Argent. I like both though!

Alone, this scent is too ‘youthfully’ masculine for me. Paired with Shanghai Lily and it’s a late night visit to a smokey little cafe for an illicit rendezvous.

The immediate opening is remarkably similar to Vert d’Encens, however this quickly fades and woody, cedar notes take over. I get the Fougère-ness of it, but after 30 minutes this is really just a woody fragrance with a slight hint of something nutty. Overall I quite like it, it is definitely a classic masculine scent, but again, like many of his recent releases, I can’t help but think “oh, this again.” Don’t get me wrong – it is a beautifully crafted perfume, but there’s no denying that it is nothing revolutionary or different. If I were forced to choose, D’Argent would be my favourite of the two Fougère releases. Would I purchase either one? No.

Reminds me of the Vert line. Very dark, woodsy, green and sweet. Maybe a little nutty. A bit of a boring release.

The three newly launched fragrances by Tom Ford Fougère D’Argent, Fougère Platine and Ombré Leather, to me, are considered big success. I enjoy them all but my personal favorite ones are Ombré and D’Argent.
Platine is just my strong like and it smells different than D’Argent from start to finish, even though they do share some “wood” notes. Between the two, as truly unisex as D’Argent, I think Platine leans more toward the masculine side with the wood notes standing out stronger and much warmer thru and thru. Platine is just a simple creamy and smoothly woody fragrance, while in D’Argent, I could experience three stages of the transformation among other sweet spices, wood, and also the obvious lavender. The wood note in D’Argent is a “sweet” and “spicy” one, not sort of “boozy” as I sensed it in Platine. Wood note in D’Argent is also much gentler and softer than in Platine.
Ombré is purely sexy and manly with its seductive leather note (it would be SO exotic on a woman too). D’Argent is sophisticated and romantic with the attractive spice and lavender, perfect for date night, while rich and creamy Platine’s woods emphasize confidence and define characters. I wish that I could afford all three of them for my husband and I, for different wearing purposes 🙂
However, I found the sillage and longevity in Platine is stronger than in D’Argent. As a man, if you can afford all three new ones, GREAT, as they are ALL different from each other. Or you can just blindly pick ANY one from them and will be happy with it. If you are a woman with “softer” feminism, D’Argent would be best suited. Platine (and/or Ombré) is a wonderful choice for any female with stronger and more daring/confident personality. Platine would also be considered a great perfume for a female boss or high rank manager. It has the same “powerful” effect as well as Plum Japonaise and Santal Blush…
Overall, I’m very satisfied with all new three fragrances from Mr. Ford this time. Bravo!

mmcdonald36 is correct. If you have one, you don’t need the other one. Both are great and one of my favorites. Nice and mellow wood fragrance.

Apparently smells like Vert d’Encens
