PS: This is not showing much interest any more, it’s been two months since someone reviewed it.
I am selling my bottle on eBay for about 1/2 list price. I only used it a bit, at least 90% full.
I like it, but I found Byredo Oud Immortele, it’s also a light oriental like Fortis, but I like it better.
I put this back in my 60 love fragrances.
    It’s a light Oriental/ Aromatic.
It’s over priced for what it is, performance is OK, and it’s a bit synthetic.
But many of my Orientals are heavier for Fall and Winter. This can be for any season.
It’s crunchy green, with some nice soft and fresh spices, a bit of oud, and some more creamy smooth woody notes.
It’s a great casual Oriental, classier and nicer that most designer frags in this catagory.
I think there is a touch of bergamot freshness, unlisted.
The longer I own this the more I like it. Very pleasant and nice to wear.
one of the best looking bottles.

I may buy a bottle. I like it very much!
Nothing new here. It’s the bigger brother of
     Carner Barcelona Cuirs
    And the smaller brother of
     Nasomatto Black Afgano
Which I like both of them but neither was suitable for me because BA was too much and Carner Cuirs was not enough. Fortis has the best parts of both of them making it the best choise IMO.
Needless to say anything about its smell, it’s not new for me. The oud is very woody and safe. I doubt if this has real stuff. To my nose it’s a good quality “oud”.
Longevity is very nice for my taste, around 8 hours and sillage is moderate. Projection is heavy for 1-1.5 hours.

This is a very enjoyable and versatile balsamic fragrance.
This has a masterfull blending of fresh and green notes, with darker balsamic resins, uniquely beautiful !
This is what I hoped Amouage Jubilation XXV was going to smell like. Fortis has a definate fruity note, but it has a zesty green and balsamic accord, and I’m sure I pick up amber, though none listed. I just got my bottle, the bottle and the packaging are # 1, the coolest and classiest box and bottle I have ever seen, it could make a great gift.
Fortis does smell similar to Sonia Constant’s fragrance Cuirs, but fortis is more masculine, having a sharper edge to it.
I get a well blended accord that makes me think black or dark. So I can imagine the more intense brother of this being Black Afgano.
I have never tried Black Afgano, but you could think of Fortis as BA Fresh, there is a dark, earthy, anamalic woodyness to it, yet it’s fresh and zesty… My signature frag for Winter I think, if it was less expensive.
Its not to sweet or heavy, there is something toasty, herbal and green. People knock cumin, saying it smells like BO, maybe… But the cumin here is what makes this frag great, so well blended and balanced, with the darker woody notes. The saffron is very light but does add a slight floral nuance.
It is close to a masterpiece in a way, because it is so simple, not mudled with to many notes, and it comes of just right. The oud is a bit synthetic, but the composition and blending really work well, balanced.
Just a perfect Fall fragrance, that’s warm yet light with some fruity floral nuances. The fragrance is like the bottle, such a simple yet beautifull design, the first time I mentioned a bottle design in a review, very nice !
This has gotten a lot of poor reviews. I ‘m glad I never tried Black Afgao, and now that I ordered Fortis, I wont need Black Afgano. I have Opus VII, which is a similar and more intense version of Fortis.
Fortis has great woody accords, the oud is light and well blended. Then I love the cypriol, cumin, musk accord, that smells like a body odor, but for me it could be my or my girlfriends body odor, so I’m very comfortable wearing this frag. The body odor may not be right for you, so you should sample it 🙂
This reminds me of Terre de Hermes, the earthy, fruity, woodsy vib, more for colder weather, and a bit darker, and not as fruity as Terre…
A great composition, but over priced, as the quality and performance are not so great.
Fortis is the highest rating here on fragrantica, out of their line, at 3.95/5. There fragrances are different, I’ll give them that.
On smell alone, 9.5/10 for Fortis, love the toasted bread nutty, woody, oudy accord !
PS: My sample was watered down, now that I have the real bottle, longevity is good.
    Rating: 8.75/10

ok yes, I admit this does remind me a little of Black Afgano, but so does about 100 other fragrances. This is still its own composition and to the trained nose one would defiantly notice the differences more than the similarities.
On skin after about 5 minutes I already see the differences and they are wonderful. I favor this fragrance more. I like the musky sweet oud qualities and this stuff is amazing! Great longevity and it projects good enough. If you like black afgano you are missing out if you dont smell this. Its amazing!
overall I give it 8.5/10 and highly recommend it

Lots of references to BA but I think this one goes in a different direction, the strongest note I get from this is cumin and that’s where this one veers off. And it’s not at all bad because I think the cumin mixes with the vanilla and woody notes and makes for a great fragrance. I love the spicy tweak this one has and the longevity is above average. This is a good one. IMHO.

Yes okay we get it…Fortis smells like the divine and amazing Black Afgano.
A couple of things to note, I think this has a slightly lighter, mellower, touch. Sometimes BA can go on hard and become a little overwhelming. Fortis is sweeter in the opening too and a bit more towards Carner Cuirs.
I don’t hold anything against Les Liquides Imaginaires for having a BA type scent, I mean we’re not exactly falling over them are we? Not exactly like Aventus clones or yet another Oud/Rose combo is it? Most of the BA type scents are by Gaultieri himself so that doesn’t count as a rip off either.
I was happy with this one, smells exceptionally good, if not a little bit familiar.

I wont write a review because I don’t have this fragrance. I want an advise. I own the Nassomato Black Afgano and I love it, I only use it for VERY SPECIAL ocassions. Would you buy the Fortis and have both? Or is it very similar to Black Afgano? Thanks!

I’m going to try not to do another Black Afgano comparison. This is a darker scent for certain, but I’m enjoying a slightly sweet, fruity/floral aspect in the opening. There is a nice balance between dark and light woods, but I can’t help feeling that there’s something missing. Glimmers of hope are offered during the beginning, but this settles into a sweet-ish vanilla, sandalwood and spicy oud. Nice enough, but a pass.

As much as Fortis is not really new to me as most of Les liquides Imaginaires creations, a variation on the theme in which its works pleases me a lot. From the trilogy, it is what really has the impact promised in the subject and has a consistent aroma with its black liquid. Its strong and impactful scent explores the combination of oud and various woods and rather reminds you of fragrances like Black Afgano, Robert Piguet Oud and Carnes Barcelona Cuirs. Still, it is as if we saw the idea from the perspective of sandalwood and incense and instead of oud. Cedar appears to enhance the drier woody sandalwood aroma while it sems responsible for the incense aura of the composition. There is something woody, green and sweet that seems to permeate the composition in an abstract way. Befitting its name, Fortis remains intense in the skin all day.

I have this perfume.i think it is more complex and bitter than black afghano and ican smell resins and musk and lots of smoke in it clearly.but personally i like ba more than fortis ,because i think fortis has an artificial theme, but ba is just wood, oud, smoke, and nothing else.

It opens with a strong boozy vibe, which lasts for about an hour, and trust me, if you like Frapin Speakeasy or anything that starts boozy, you will love this one.It resembles Black Afgano but more refined. It doesn’t have Black Afgano performance but I managed to hit 8 hour mark with an average of 4 hours projection(first 2 are quite heavy but not overpowering, people will notice and compliment you).
PS: After 2 days of testing all I can say that I’m liking it more and more.
    Projection : 8.5/10
    Longevity 10/10
    Scent : 9/10
    Versatility : 8/10
    Compliments 9/10

I don’t even want to put this on as it’s clearly a Black Afgano rip off. And it’s not that I dislike Black Afgano that much (although I fully understand why so many people do), but it takes some pre-planning to wear it. Like Black Afgano, this is an absolute nightmarish overdose of cheap synthetic sandalwoods and sweeteners, only here it’s dialed back a notch compared to the original. If we’re splitting hairs, I’d also say that some of BA’s smokiness has been swapped out with even more sugary syrup. As with the original, it’s fun in very small, infrequent doses, but it’s hardly a scent for grown-ups. I can’t believe Les Liquides hasn’t been sued over this as it’s a shameless copy.

resins, woods and something else. other than that, it’s too similar to black afgano. smells amazing (i love bl afg, btw), but still…

Let’s make it simple: Yes, it’s basically Black Afgano 2.0. Probably not as loud as the Nasomatto but surely just as bad. Sorry.

i didn’t like this one as much as i liked the others. this one is typically so near to Black Afgano by nasomatto which i really dislike.

Black Afgano AND the color as well. Whats the price? That would be the alternative if you didn’t want beast mode.

Does open like Black Afgano and Carner Barcelona Cuirs.
Doesn’t seem to have the lasting power or projection of either, though. I do, however, find Black Afgano more intriguing.
All three are woody, and resiny and lovely.

This like a gazillion no. Of fragrances launched/existing today is a Black Afgano clone; Bad performance…..Bad, Bad, Bad.

I agree in part to the reference to Back Afgano… but although less intense, i find it in no way of poorer quality. It is also more complex and does reveal evolution with the stages of drydown.
The middle stage reminds me strongly of Cuirs by Carner Barcelona.

This is so much like Black Afgano! I was surprised by just how similar they are. However Fortis strikes me as more “friendly”. Definitely softer and weaker. The vanilla is much more prominent than in BA.
Though Fortis is very similar to BA, BA still is much more complex and the ingredients smell like much more quality.
