A dusky, sweet, herbal blend that somehow evokes a garden late on a Summer’s day. There’s something hazy and nostalgic about it that I can’t quite put my finger on. It reminds me a little of the now discontinued “A La Figue” by Satellite.
The herbal undertones in “Flowering Herbs” have that leathery, tweed-like deep green feel that feels very natural and forest-like. I don’t know if it’s the lotus note but there’s a very familiar kind of deep, dusky vegetal note in here that makes me think of dew on hot greens, being outdoors as it approaches sundown. Fig notes usually impart this sort of green, pulpy feel. Is it the wood/patchouli combo? I don’t know.
What’s most amazing to me, is that this starts off as this crisp, deep, herbal sweetness that you totally expect to be lovely but fleeting, like a cologne splash. But “Flowering Herbs” lasted all night long and I still smelled a duskier sweetness on my skin and clothes into the next day. The longevity is really surprising with this brand. One spray will last all day and late into the night.
There’s also a freshness, a sense of clean, non-allergen appeal about the scents from this line. I can’t explain it, their blends smell so unique, fresh and crisp but there’s no expansive, overwhelming airiness to their scents like found in other clean aquatic/green/citrus/herbal blends. They really get the balance right and wearing their blends is a joy. I’m excited to collect them all.

For some reason, Flowering Herbs smells something like stale chocolate to me. I’m not sure why except maybe the patchouli doesn’t blend well with the other notes? It doesn’t WOW me like I thought it would. To my nose, it doesn’t smell enough like real herbs to keep my attention. Tomato Leaf is a much better fragrance. I haven’t tried the Beet Root, but if it’s anything like Demeter’s Beetroot, it’s surprisingly good.
