Rochas Fleur d’Eau is the benchmark standard Floral Aquatic by which so many others should be judged.
Fleur d’Eau is crafted with old school attention to creating an experience and not just something to sell to the masses. I don’t think this is for everyone but there are some aspects to it that make more suitable than so many others in this category.
Musk and black currant/cassis can turn into rabid foul beasts on me but this is not so with Fleur d’Eau, they are well behaved with accent to the bouquet. The vetiver and sandalwood combine with the heliotrope to dry wafting sweet smells of fruit and develop a slightly nature to the water hyacinth. I love the amber note, although very subtle, it adds just a touch of sunshine glinting off the water to keep Fleur d’Eau from becoming too cold but still able to feel refreshingly cool.
A note to those that do not like melon notes, of which I am one, I don’t find this to be a standout here, it stays in the background for me blending in more greeness than overripe aroma.
Silage on this one is actually fairly good for me, as is the longevity, even with my tendency to have fragrance eating skin. I love this one sprayed along my neck by the ears and a little at the wrists, that seems to do the trick to keep the scent alive for so long.
This bottle arrived on a day that I was very ill, feverish and and almost out of it completely, but the package had come so far, all the way from Estonia to the States. I could not help myself but open it if it was with my last breath to do so. I sprayed a bit on and lay back down and basically passed out to awaken to the most lovely rosewater scent that helped to make the fever leave my thoughts. It’s a special thing to feel like you smell good even when you feel like you are otherwise a pity.
Thank you to fellow Fragrantican, “S”, that arrived just in time to save my day with this unforgettable and generous gift. Tanan Vaga to S…

I bought this fragrance in the 90s, on the ferry to-ing and fro-ing from France (got a bunch of YSLs, Givenchy’s Fleur d’interdit and Nina Ricci’s Fleur des Fleurs the same way). It was a lovely fragrance – very light but not a cologne, aquatic but not calone-y (I got sick of Issey). It was cold and cucumberish, melonic and fresh. I used it to the last drop and never thought to look for it again – I’m sad that it’s no longer available.

One of my firm faves, ever. Such a pity it`s discontinued and expensive now..
I got my very first bottle 15 years ago, and since then I must say so often it popped in my mind that I had to get it over and over again..Uplifting, fresh, a bit aqua, a bit green too, but most of all ozonic! Lotus and melon are quite dominant here, in a good way, not in a sweet or fruity but a fresh way. I even get a hint of lettuce or cucumber, something crisp like rose leaves or. The main player is lotus and water hyacinth without a doubt, any other note is only in support role..I noticed I have to respray once a day but that`s only because the fragrance itself is so light, therefore it`s a typical but not ordinary spring or summer scent for the daytime, refreshing and uplifting and makes me feel unique and feminine. LOVE.

This is this kind of perfume, lets try another rochas . ” oh , oh what a wonderful perfume ”
It is so delicate . It is the perfect perfume for hot summer days .
I love it .
JackSlevin – :
Had high expectations bcs of the good reviews , but ….. as they say “never go with a big sack to the praised tree “.
In fact ,there was nothing there for me,but disappointment. Will have to try it again.
Same bad experience for me with another highly praised :Eau de Rochas ,the new one. They have smth in common, but can’t say what untill I don’t compare them at the same time.
Must be ph matter.
Conclusion ,never buy this without testing.

I can’t describe how beautiful this fragrance is. The best word that comes to mind is… magical…? I know that seems so silly, but it’s just such a indescribably fresh and bright scent – the prettiest and illuminating floral green I have worn.
I’m hanging on my last 8~10ml of it and on the special days I do wear it, I’m excited but at the same time I feel a slight pain because I’m closer to having it all gone.
Basically, I’m willing to sign a petition for it to be brought back. Rochas, I got you. Just why would you discontinue the greatest perfume ever made. Rochas, why?
Adam_gabuew – :
At last. Years after its launch I just got my hands on a vintage bottle. Paid 18 euros for a 100ml bottle and I can’t stop admiring this gorgeous flacon. Mimosa – Lily of the valley and a vetiver drydown are the main players on my skin. It is comfortable and relaxing, really bringing the joy of immersing yourself in a serene lake.
You should know that I am not even a fan of aquatic perfumes. But this one doesn’t have the fizzy-ozonic-synthetic feel that puts me off. It is a lost 90’s breezy dream, reminder of an era that eveything wss still possible.
lesovoy – :
Words fail to describe how great this fragrance is! The combination of notes are a perfect blend of florals, fruit and woods. The smell is just out of this world! If I was a celebrity and was given the opportunity to create my own fragrance I would be smart and would create something like this instead of another common/nasty vanilla/gourmand/fruitchouli mess. This has been discontinued for years and the prices on ebay are getting too high. Add to that the chances of getting a bottle that is either fake or spoiled. Rochas we are counting on you to bring this beauty back!
sqp488JeomiWogkig – :
I bought a small vintage bottle of this to try, and it’s becoming one of my favorite EDT’s. My florals have to be very green and fresh, and this one suits perfectly! I’m not really getting any of the fruity top notes which is ok, but I’m getting a lot of hyacinth, lily of the valley, lotus and a little bit of rose. The scent stays ‘green’ on me all the way down to the sandalwood and vetiver – and it has excellent longevity for an EDT. The little bottle is lovely too. I will definitely be looking for more of this.
durman – :
I came across this one by accident and decided to chance a blind buy as I am currently smitten with floral green scents. I’m pleased to say that it was worth the risk. The first few sprays from my bottle showed evidence of some turning of the top notes, however thankfully after about five or six sprays this cleared and it now smells fresh. This is a juicy shower-fresh scent, stronger and smoother than more modern versions of floral greens. It has a lush hyacinth note and I can detect the melon amongst the other watery and soapy notes. It has medium longevity on me, probably lasting about 3 – 4 hours. The clean lush vibe works well in humid weather, so I’ll get a lot of wear out of this during our long hot summers. Great perfume, quite unlike other modern Rochas varients I have tried.
malishh9 – :
Incredibly I found a bottle of 50 ml. in an outlet that made the perfumery of muy town.
What joy to have this fragrance again!
The fragrance is so feminine, and the bottle is a piece of art too.
It´s so special that I decided to use it only on Sundays. Is a perfume to use when I’m with family and I can enjoy my daughter and my husband with this soft and fresh company.
pd . I have to say that Dupont perfume is not a fair replacement.
bagdanushka – :
Lovely fruity floral, in the same vein as Dior J’adore EdP and Miller Harris Coeur de Fleur- just the right proportions of fruits and flowers, IMO- Mimosa plays the starring role, with some congenial support from roses and warm, deep fruity accords-
Nice…
maxamak032 – :
i know that this one has been discontinued But, I just have to write a review on this. Fleur d’eau Rochas is by far the best floral scent I have ever come across. If you’re not heavily into florals but just want hints of it in your perfume, this is the best choice. I super love how this does not smell old at all. It’s floral, citrusy and aquatic at the same time. After hours of wearing this, you’ll still smell the full bouquets blossoming as if you have just sprayed yourself minutes ago. It’s well blended I think and the dry down is a perfect harmony of sweet florals and amber.
evreixer – :
thank you celia46 for the suggestion 🙂 will definitely give it a try 🙂
Treneri – :
Its not a replacement but i think you can test “ST Dupont 58 avenue montagne” its light and feminine
Stawr – :
I love this fragrance!!! It is so delicate and feminine. U fortunately, it is discontinued and I am desperate to find a replacement that is as close a possible to this ethereal scent. Would appreciate any suggestions fragraticans please 🙂
Drego 64 – :
I’ve had this one and it’s empty bottle now, to remind me of the perfect parfume. I would really like to have it again.
semenl096 – :
Beautiful perfume!!!!!! Please bring it back.
domdva – :
Meu perfume predileto, Rochas por favor volte a fabrica-lo.
exnikner – :
This is a very pleasant, clean fragrance which smells ultra feminine and would be perfect to wear on a warm breezy day in a flowery sundress.
Flowers are dominant and distinctive. Lily of the valley is just perfect as a layer of silky wood cradles it. This is not a severe green, just a casual, free flowing, not a care in the world green that is blended perfectly with an interesting fruit note. Its like being in a meadow and as the breeze picks up, it caresses you with a whisper of freshness.
A young woman in love would wear this fragrance to shop for her wedding dress. It is happy and bright and for some reason I associate the color yellow to it.
I agree with Jazzbirdsinger’s review…Serenity in a bottle! It’s nice!
kasper82 – :
I got this one because one of the notes is supposed to be the mimosa flower which I love, but I cannot feel it anywhere in this perfume. Rather, this perfume brings memories of my grandma’s clean laundry, which is pleasant, but it’s not a scent I would feel comfortable wearing the whole day. It feels too much like being surrounded by laundry lines, and I prefer to wear something more warm and cozy…
qig248InsuffBooni – :
Why this masterpiece has been discontinued?
biwkek – :
ิbring it back , pleaseeeeeeeeeee
xnq590JeomiWogkig – :
Have it watery fresh and floral. Ready to finish my bottle, never disappointed with this one. Great bottle!
NineOdollars – :
I don’t know how to describe this one very well, but I really like it! I got it as a present and asked for it again as I liked it so much. Very summery, very light, but interesting with it. Watery fresh floral, some kind of celery in there somewhere?? Would be my summer signature were it not for the fact is not available now. Lovely bottle as well. I got a gift set with a little turquoise backpack with 100ml bottle originally. Bring it back please Rochas? Although I know everyone says that about pretty much EVERY discontinued perfume, this one is irreplaceable!! Is prettier than Clinique Happy! Is a bit like Lancaster Sunwater too, but thats bye bye too and anyway this is better!
homyak84 – :
This is a light unoffensive fragrance, which is great for a casual hot days use. Although, at the moment I am wearing mine as a bedtime fragrance, as it is fresh and relaxing!
The lasting power isn’t good either, a couple of hours at most. Am in agreement with previous reviews as I don’t smell any fruits either!
embobeler – :
Very subtle floral green, the opening smells like wax crayons I used to draw with when I was five 🙂
And it was a rather pleasant smell!
My impression is that it starts off a bit bitter flowery and gradually becomes smoother and gentler. No matter what weather conditions I am using it under, I cannot detect any fruit in it. The only note I can detect on its own is mimose 🙂 and watery flowers, possibly water lily or nenuphar.
The bottle colour, pastel green, reflects pretty much its content. It enduces smile on my face and personally, I consider it an innocent fragrance for an innocent lady.
Fleur D’Eau to me, is simply a contradiction to a sexy, rich, complex and slightly heavy Alchimie by Rochas 🙂
maloii – :
nice summer scent. fresh but yet soft.To me the mimose is the keynote on this
blackmore47 – :
What’s this I hear about it being discontinued? A shame, because I’m testing it on my skin for the first time (thanks to Turquoise!), and I adore it!
It goes on sharp, but quickly dies down to an interesting floral green — with emphasis on the “floral”. I’m smelling something different from the usual flowers — is it the water hyacinth or lotus? And Turquoise has a point: the rose, although not loud, might have been better left out of the composition.
Still, a unique scent!
Nowember79 – :
Fleur d’Eau…..Vague, pleasant but not such a disappointment.
Apricots….that must be what smells a bit almond-y? A bit aquatic, clear and soft-has a mintiness-but this is not minty. Not sharp, perfectly fresh and clean-quite weak, but in a good way. I do enjoy it, but I don’t feel dazzled. The rose is nice, but there must be a bit of calones in it. Not very green, not terribly flowery but nicely clear. I don’t have too much to say about it, but it is better than many fresh floral green fragrances, and definitely so many aquatics easily found, in production today. I will wear it in the summer to get better acquainted.
pilligrim – :
i had this perfume! its perfect! only the biggest minus was the *yes again*
lastingpower! if this was stronger i’d bought it again for sure!
Timofey102 – :
My husband bought this for me when it first came out. This is one of my favorites…too bad it’s so hard to find now.I wore this to my sister’s wedding and received so many compliments.
I wear Fleur D’Eau in Spring & Summer…I do wish the scent lasted longer though, after a couple of hours I cannot smell a trace of it on myself.
AlexChay – :
I want this perfume back ! You can not replace it with another, is unique ! Gorgeous.
wzv522Unlogrere – :
A stunning fragrance, nothing smelt quite like this….Rochas need to bring this back!
ZeroFive – :
It reminds my childhood too! My mom and my cousin wore this a lot. Is so fresh, so magic and light. It is a scent that speaks about inocence. And botle is sooo inspiring.
vacek77 – :
This is the only perfume that I wear comfortably without offending anyone around. So lovely, light, green, floral, not very crisp or sour, just mild and feminine. Also does not have too strong marine or airy notes. I always want to have this one in my collection and still cannot believe that it is discontinued 🙁
this one always got the best compliments from people.
stomat06 – :
What a beautiful perfume! reminds me so much of my childhood! modern, floral and green. Great for everyday use, and inoffensive office scent.
seoblack.ru – :
A very beautiful gorgeous floral green. It’s very light and fresh, a perfect summer scent!! Adorable but not that longlasting.I can’t find this anywhere in Europe… BUT found it on Ebay!
What were they thinking when they stopped making this!
