Fleur de Portofino Tom Ford for women and men of Tom Ford

Share:

Description

Tom Ford launches the fourth fragrance of the Neroli Portofino collection in June 2015 (after the original Neroli Portofino from 2011, and Mandarino di Amalfi and Costa Azzurra editions from 2014), called Fleur de Portofino. The fragrance is an interpretation of white acacia trees in the Mediterranean. The composition focuses on acacia blossom, surrounded by citruses, based on acacia honey.

The top notes mix citruses and fresh flavors. There are Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian lemon, tangerine, bitter orange leaf, violet leaf and syringe. The heart is designed around white acacia flower and complemented by white magnolia, orange blossom, Moroccan rose and jasmine. The base is made of acacia honey with cistus absolute, vanilla absolute, tolu balm, civet and ambrette seed.

The scent comes in light blue version of the original turquoise bottle as 50 and 250 ml Eau de Parfum.

Not bad, Its Fresh. Tom Ford should stick with the American style colognes, and let the Italians make the Authentic Fresh Neroli based Mediterranean scents. These houses are better at it, Acqua Di Parma, Bottega Veneta or Zegna etc

Very strong, sexy Bubu fragrance! Quite flowery and sweet and smells closer to Mandarino di Amalfi to me than any of Tom Ford’s other fragrances. It’s certainly more feminine than masculine, and I may not buy it for that reason. Otherwise, I love it!
10/5/18: I’m wearing it today at the office and I love it! Lots of white flowers and sweet without being sickly. Awesome projection!

Tom Ford is simply the best in the designer fragrance category. His perfumes always smell sensual and luxurious and this one is no exception. A simple, but strong and elegant floral composition. Lovers of white flowers will not be disappointed.
    Final note: 9/10

I have MANY white floral fragrances in my collection, and none of them makes me sneeze like crazy as this one does. Tom Ford Fleur De Portofino is just too florally sharp or “green” to my nose, and I’m super allergic to at least one of the ingredients from the juice inside this bottle. I ended up selling two new bottles that were gifted to me last year over the Holidays, due to that reason. If you suspect that you may be sensitive/allergic to some white flowers, I would not recommend blind buying this one.
I truly enjoy Tom Ford Sole Di Positano and Mandarino Di Amalfi (and the Acqua version also) much better as my summer scents.

Pure Poison + Myers lemons. A very nice sweet floral. I can definitely smell acacia. Lovely. Would I buy it? – No. I would rather go with Pure Poison, which is more balanced to me, more long-lasting, and more „pure” without the sweetness, and even though expensive, cheaper than Tom Ford.

Most of the times I’ll love a Tom Ford perfume. This time I saw “Fleur” on the bottle and as I love florals, especially white floral perfumes I thought to give it a go. To my surprise Fleur de Portofino turned out to be an intense honeyed white floral with underlying indoles and some mothballs. Vintagey even. My description might not sound appealing for potential buyers, but by no means it’s a negative one; not everything in the perfumeworld has to smell like burnt cotton candy. You gotta love white florals to be able to wear Fleur de Portofino.
It’s primarily a dense jasmine mixed with some rotten-fruity-apricot osmanthus and a honey-dripping black locust. Jasmine heaven for jasmine lovers-other florals do shine through here and there, but the most important is the jasmine, and more jasmine and then some more jasmine. No bubblegum sweetness, it’s very honeyed and tropical smelling. So what if it’s linear? Tom Ford has a bunch of more complex perfumes, go grab those; some of his perfumes happen to be linear, I’m okay with that.
Leans heavily on the feminine side and lasted for five-six hours with good projection for the first couple of hours. For ladies, that look like ladies and behave like ladies, that are also a little naughty and sensual, still in a ladylike way. Not for the girly girl cotton candy masrshmallow princess. Very happy with my newest discovery which might become an acquisition for a spring-summer white floral, even though I’ve already bought Miss Dior Original, another white floral gem.

I just had an astounding epiphany. This is the sample I had 2 years ago. I got a huge sample decant from sephora, as the sales girl showed me how good it was. Well she didn’t label it and I forgot what it was called. For the longest time I thought it was neroli portofino acqua since they smell similar. Lo and behold after wearing this one for a few minutes all kinds of memories come rushing back. It dawns on me that this is a dead ringer for the sample I had! I finally know for sure! Amazing what scent memories can do. So anyways I think this is the female version of neroli portofino

I smell Kai Kai… & I love TF blends for many reasons & White Flowers aren’t one of them.
Kai is straight gardenia & white flowers.
TF smells slightly more complex. Gardenia native of China now worldwide has various species mostly deriniana. citriadore & jasmonoides
This isn’t as cloying as Kai, perhaps it’s not the overused deriniana.. Gardenia lovers hissing I hear you..
Chemists extract the oils from these fresh flowers & they blend well with other florals. In this case.. my nose senses all white flowers. Oh it’s Kai. I’m still wearing it. It’s not going away..
It’s Kai at 4x’s the price. Go to Anthropologie. Buy the soap, the lotion, the bubble bath, you can literally drown yourself in this smell 24/7 for less than 50ml of TF.
I’m sad. Taking a shower too.

    I BOUGHT THIS WHILE TRAVELLING
IT IS LIGHT FRESH AND DELICATE
    I LOVE IT.
BIG PRICE TAG AND LONGEVITY IS TERRIBLE.
SO I WONT BE BUYING ANOTHER BOTTLE SIMPLY BECAUSE IT DOESNT LAST

I have no idea why people say this isn’t long lasting, I’ve had this on for over 12 hours and I still smell it projecting off of me (I applied at several pulse points). Maybe people who are nose blind to white florals can’t smell them anymore??? Maybe they were too shy on application?? It’s a mystery to me.
That aside, this is a gorgeous sunny realistic white floral with lots of Acacia and osmanthus which I love. Blindly smelling it I definitely got the osmanthus, magnolia, jasmine and orange blossom and some honey mixed with citruses.
Osmanthus adds a slight fruitiness mixed with the citruses and there is some freshness from the violet leaf. There is warmth from the civet and vanilla hovering underneath.
I quite love it! I could imagine some pretty and charming Italian girl strolling through Portofino wearing this (and imagine myself to be her while wearing it)
Really lovely! I don’t find this one to be particularly sexy like most of Tom’s other fragrances…but very beautiful for daytime.

I agree with the other commenters in that this is a super linear, not very long lasting fragrance.
The opening is a tad antiseptic, with just a touch of honey. After a moment or two, a really authentic smelling magnolia comes through, one that reminds me of feeling their petals and stamens crumble away into my hands when I’d toy with the low-hanging branches of magnolia trees as a kid — come to think of it, Fleur de Portofino smells almost EXACTLY like a magnolia tree in full bloom to me. It moves on to blend with the jasmine and honeysuckle to create a really intoxicating, exotic bouquet that is crisp enough to be distinctly summery.
By the end, I’m left with only a pure jasmine scent lingering on my skin — it sits close, but oh my god does it smell wonderful. There’s something very light, clear, and sunscreeny about this fragrance that fits in with its bright blue bottle and sexed-up, summery ads. None of the white florals get heavy or unappealing, but investment-wise, longevity should definitely be a concern, as this one evaporates fast!

I received a new 50ml bottle on trade.
WOW, what a lovely scent. I feel like this is a beachy perfume that also smells floral; there’s a classy sunscreen type of vibe to it, but i also get realistic jasmine, a fresh citrus zest and a very light honeyed sweetness. Definitely leans feminine, but a well-dressed guy on a beach boardwalk could properly wear this as well.
As repeatedly mentioned, performance is fleeting; honestly i noticed it for up to 4 hours, but my wife barely gets an hour out of 2 sprays.
This is actually my first Private Blend full bottle, I’ve always previously had decants, and just to have this bottle alone is fairly exciting. It’s a beautiful bottle, looks great on my shelf.
Not my favorite Tom Ford by any means but still glad to have it. You can often find this one heavily discounted. Buy it for your Mom or wife, she’ll love it if she loves white florals.

Let me start by saying I love this fragrance. I love it on paper, and I love it on my skin. That said, I can’t describe anything beyond the beauty of that initial spray, because it disappears completely from my skin in less than an hour. It hurt to return it, but needs must.

  14. :

I’m not a fan of this, I think because of the magnolia and jasmine combination. It’s pleasant, but it just doesn’t do anything to me and with that price tag, if I don’t LOVE it, then it’s not going to happen. I prefer Neroli Portofino to this scent.
This is much better on the drydown than on the top notes. Which is a relief. But I am just not a huge fan of florals, and I think Neroli Portofino suits me and my needs better. But this is a lovely and beautiful fragrance. It’s just not for me.

The king of white floral perfumes as far as I am concerned. It settles very quickly to the scent of fresh white flowers in spring, the jasmine and magnolia shine. After 30 minutes I get hints of honey and vanilla which add a gentle creaminess, but the florals are still the star of the show. I don’t really get any citrus – perhaps it is there at the very beginning, and possibly hidden behind that initial ethanol blast. The strength is amazing, the sillage very good. I can imagine wearing this on a warm spring day at a garden party – well at least, that’s how it makes me feel when I smell it 🙂

I just brought this and it’s worth every penny, floral romantic and light refreshing clean smell the perfume is so feminine and wears nicely in the summer, a must buy,if your a fan of floral perfumes as myself ……beautiful ten out of ten

upon spraying its beautiful: creamy jasmine, honey, musk and a blast of citrus. this lasts for like, a minute or so before settling into a nice creamy honey-jasmine with musk in the back. projects decently too. its perfect…except for how it literally melts off in an hour. after an hour 30 there’s a faint semblance of musk and honey, soon disappearing except for a light soapy scent you have to smell pretty hard to detect.
perfect scent, longevity…not so much. my skin eats white florals quick but this was especially tragic.

  18. :

Although not enough citrus for my taste, this is a well-crafted, balanced fragrance. The quality of the ingredients is immediately evident, one case where you get what you pay for.

When I first smelled this I thiufht it was definitely addicting. The black licust and honey are prominent. I thought it had tuberose or Gardena but its the licust and honey combined. Im not a tuberose ir Gardena fan but if its very well it phenomenal. This is sunnier than lot of his scents world.

Combine the best parts of Neroli Portofino and Champaca Absolute and voilà you have Fleur de Portofino. Essentially, it is like a floral Neroli Portofino or a fresher, citrusy Champaca Absolute. This is the only fragrance of the 4 piece Neroli Portofino Collection without the fatal flaw of non-existent longevity. It’s fresh, floral, citrusy, and only slightly sweet. I get neroli, jasmine, magnolia, lemon, mandarin, sea salt, and honey. I loathe sweet fragrances and was worried about the honey, but the touch of honey is mellow and creamy. I’ve had one bad experience with this fragrance when for some reason it smelled like overly ripe, sickeningly sweet bananas on my skin. I almost wrote it off then, but fortunately I came back. I don’t know if my skin was overly dry that day or what, but be forewarned that this one can really change with your chemistry. I have it on now and I’m loving it. I definitely would like to get a full size bottle soon.

This reminds me hot summer nights in Cyprus. When I smell this, I feel the summer breeze in jasmine garden. It makes you feel so special and beautiful.Such a dreamy perfume. I just wish it wasn’t so linear on jasmine note cause I don’t know if I can justify the price tag for a linear perfume.

  22. :

    5 out of 5

If you like strong jasmine , white florals you will like. It holds elements of beyond paradise by Estée Lauder, but is more linear . Silliage is strong, perhaps acacia honey and white magnolia is what is driving it to be so strong. Not for me, I was expecting a more unique scent like Costa and Mandarino, but feel let down by the common jasmine note which makes it just like many other common notes used in floral scents. It also reminds me of j Lo glow, similar harsh ‘Twang’.

This is a great warm weather scent. It has spring and summer written all over it.
This is pretty much Neroli Portofino with a ton of Citrus. I actually prefer it to Neroli Portofino. This is a solid fragrance for sure.
This one seems to be too new for a reformulation, but has anyone else noticed slight inconsistencies? I live in a larger city that happens to have just about every dept store. When I like a fragrance, I will often go to each store and get samples. I received five 4ml samples of Fleur de Portofino from different dept stores. They all smell the same but the ones that are slightly yellow in color last a few hours longer than the ones that are clear. I notice this a lot with other Tom Ford fragrances that have been out a while, but kind of crazy for a year old fragrance. I’m not overly trippin since 20ml will likely last me forever. Why do Tom Ford fragrances always lack in consistency. Back in tha day, it was never like this. I wish they would tighten up their controls. I guess it’s a small price to pay for one of the best fragrance houses.
The honey in this fragrance is really off the chains. This stuff has the perfect flower and sweet notes but stays unisex. It’s always nice weather where I live, so this could easily be a year rounder for me.

One of the only 4 wearable Tom Fords for women. along with Neroli portofino, mandarino di almafi and Venetian bergamot. Smells reallly good. A nice blend of fresh and floral. Drydown becomes mostly a light breezy floral. Kind of oceanic to me later on. A Tom Ford rep gave me a glass vial that should last me about a year.

For me this is the daytime-appropriate version of Jasmin Rouge. While both are extremely heavy on the white flowers – and do an exquisite job of it – this one lets a little more air in, making it a little easier to wear as an everyday perfume. Jasmin Rouge is almost a scent I want to wear alone or in extremely intimate settings, as I want to keep its strength and sultriness all for myself, but Fleur de Portofino is so much more open and shareable. Happily it is equally long-lasting 🙂

Very refreshing floral by the sea. Soft musk to add, simply amazing. Comfortable, feminine and light wear. By the beach and promenade somewhere warm strolling along enjoying your day in sunshine. That’s what this scent reminds me of 🙂
    Uplifting and memorable!

I’m not getting any citrus from this. I wish I was. All I smell is a straightforward honeysuckle-and-magnolia bomb. Maybe there’s a trace of honey in there, but only a trace. It is pleasant enough, but somewhat uninteresting and not worth the price tag. It lasted a decent amount of time on my skin – I can still smell it slightly after 7 hours on a warm day.

Just tried this in Neiman Marcus and it’s the least inspired of the 4. It begins gender neutral enough, with a citrusy top and a floral underbelly. But, after it begins to dry down, it’s straight floral. Very feminine and difficult to see as unisex.
Longevity for an EDP is so-so, and that’s saying a lot for a Tom Ford. I can’t imagine getting more than 4 strong hours out of this before it deteriorates to a skin scent.
Would not recommend to either gender. The middle two are still the best of the group.
UPDATE: So, it seems I gave this one a bit too much credit. It’s been less than two hours since I sprayed my wrist, and it’s barely detectable. Ugh.

  29. :

Very feminine. But nonetheless a beautiful scent. But ive smelled this scent before. I cant put my finger on it. But the longevitity is very long. This one is more for the ladies.

After falling in love with Mandarino, I had high hopes for this one. On me, it’s a smooth, tuberose-centric floral, even tho tuberose isn’t listed in the notes. I love tuberose, so that works for me. What’s not so great is that longevity is less than an hour, if that. Mandarino lasts all day and then some. No way would I pay full price for a bottle of this.

  31. :

    5 out of 5

I honestly feel like Tom Ford is running out of good ideas for fragrances. This is a miss for me. It’s just kind of generic and bland. Despite it saying its an EDP, it’s not, its an EDC (just like Neroli Portofino, Mandarino di Amalfi, Azure Lime and Rive D’Ambre are also only EDC). It lasts for 30 minutes on my skin and it’s gone.

Smelled this in Neimans today; It’s a blast of white floral sweetness, I couldn’t see a man wearing this. It’s very pleasant for a female however, I don’t know the projection/longevity to tell if its FBW. Nice to sample though.

  34. :

I was recently lucky enough to acquire a bottle of this for a good price on eBay and it arrived today.
To my nose this is what you would get if you combined Champaca Absolute and Mandarino di Amalfi, it’s like their baby, soft and floral with citrusy overtones…personally I love it.
It’s simple, elegant and does indeed put me in mind of Italy in the sunshine, walking down a path in Ravello with white flowers cascading over the walls and the breeze from the ocean caressing your skin.
    Beautiful.

The Tom Ford ad says: “Splash the trash with my stash!” You don’t see black locust honey in the pyramid every day. I bought it just for this and I find it to be authentic and sensual. Also, delightfully subtle and ambiguous, despite the sort of Miley Cyrus brand of in your face tworking. Let’s face it, this is nose bling and if you don’t have the cash you won’t get stung by this bee.

    This stuff is beautiful.
It reminds of a less sweet and more aquatic Champaca Absolute.

I tested this recently in an airport lounge and although I really liked the smell(s) it gave me, it offered very little projection.
After 60 minutes of wearing it, there was no smell left at all. Very disappointed indeed, especially given its price tag.

I don’t understand the note breakdown above, as Fleur de Portofino seems to me loaded with jasmine, much like a lighter, somewhat aquatic, neroli summer version of TF Jasmin Rouge (which is one of the most intoxicating jasmine perfumes ever).

Tried at Neiman’s in Fashion Island last night…
sprayed on the usual areas and gave it a few seconds to breathe. I am typically a huge Tom Ford anything fan. But this… This doesn’t seem right. I feel like it does not belong in his line.
It’s missing a huge chunk of what makes a Tom Ford fragrance stand out from the crowd.
It’s sillage is low-moderate, the longevity was poor and the fragrance was faint and soft.
This is more Suited for a ‘Marc Jacobs’ fragrance. It’s very young and un-exciting, very linear and shows all its cards upfront.
    A little disappointed by this.
Very [pleasant don’t get me wrong, but anyone who is a Tom Ford collection lover, this is just not right.
    At All.
    Sweet, soft and boring.

    Smooth flowery opening (almost honeysuckle-esque).
This falls away giving light to a sweet & zesty white floral piece that shines for only a little bit.
After about 3 hours I’m left with what I can describe as the aftermath of picking flowers then spilling sweet tea on my skin and letting it dry. Not sickening by any means, but not my favorite.
This one is nice, tips the feminine side, and costs more than it should for it’s disappointing longevity.

Is it the exact same shade of blue as Mandarino? If so, I’m disappointed. I loved how the Mandarino, Costa, and Neroli were all different tones of blue to symbolize their cohesiveness yet uniqueness.
