I love this scent of cacao and resin which isn’t included any extra thing. Film Noir is very natural, casual and earthy. This isn’t a gourmand (that’s good), and I feel it’s almost single note oriental. Patchouli is chic, and cacao which is supported by warm Benzoin and myrrh stays still powdery on my skin, so I feel deep. It will match with air of dry autumn and winter.

Lovely perfume. As an Oriental lover it was instant attraction. I love the rich, deep, velvety warmth it lends. There is a sensual allure because it has no top notes and sits on the skin. It is decidedly more gourmand than floral. I definitely smell more sweet buttery cocoa over the patchouli. I think the darkness comes from a slight Smokey effect with the deep, dark earthy cocoa and incense.
I think the composition as a whole worked well. Unfortunately It really isn t that dark though as the copy would lead you to believe. As it doesn’t have the usual 3 tier construction of a perfume it is obviously a linear scent. That can be a pro or con, depending on the person. It is still rich scent despite its simplicity, comforting and really natural. It lasts for a reasonably long time with soft sillage.
Would probably prefer it in a more conventional floral oriental version. Is it truly ‘heartless and topless’? Yes and no. It needs more elements to make it truly dark, like leather or tobacco, or maybe something with more teeth like biting galbanum or tuberose. But i do keep thinking about it as is as one of my first introductions to the line

A delightful deep scent to warm your toes on a chilly day. The first hit is like a very dark chocolate cognac, then the myrrh comes through and gives a touch of invigorating slightly medicinal quality, like a delicious old-fashioned cough sweet. This dies down to a sweetness which melds with the slight vanilla of the benzoin and finally dries down to a chocolate-tinted patchouli. Always sweet and rich, never cloying. Delicious. Could be longer lasting, but what the hey, just dab a bit more on. More ‘Brief Encounter’ than ‘Big Sleep’.
