I’m the culprit who added Anne Klein & Anne Klein II up there in the “reminds me of.” (edit: looks like they were removed; guess others disagreed.)
Wore this today for the first time in a long time, and it kept reminding me of something. It feels like a mixture of the two Anne Klein scents! Maybe leans a bit more towards the original, which imo, is the more refined of the two.
Regardless of any similarity, Fifi has her own special beauty. Not like anything I’ve smelled recently: she’s definitively a throwback kind of scent.
The decant I have is probably from ’05/’06, right after the release.
For anybody who wonders, it is still around. Not sure if they ship to the USA but I’ve tweeted them. For anyone who doesn’t know, I know I didn’t … Fifi Chachnil is a French lingerie company. Looks like they have two stores in Paris and an online store.
(And you too can have a pair of pretty cotton underwear for 110,00 €.!! :b )

It’s just as gorgeous as the bottle!!! Such a lovely perfume. It smells just like a ‘boudoir’, with so many different smells, including tobacco, which is lovely. It’s citrusy, spicy, florally, powdery, ambery and tobaccoey! It’s very sprightly, feminine, fresh and also very deep and sensual. Very very pretty and erotic. The dry-down of amber and tobacco is sublime!! And it lasts about 9 hours without fading. I get many many compliments, especially from males, and my husband adores it! I especially love the rose, amber and tobacco aromas. Gorgeous.
And the bottle is beautiful!!!!

Thank you so much peta22 for the update. I also have a substantial collection…many blind buys too. I have been thinking of a Tom Ford fragrance that I can test first. Soooo many choices.
gjxtgeq – :
@missguided23… sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to this… the goods news is that Fifi Chachnil (I ordered directly from their website) responded quickly and helpfully to my damaged bottle… they sent me a new one! So I can completely recommend buying from them 🙂 However, personally I am rather disappointed in the fragrance. It’s just not what I was expecting – which is why I really need to stop blind buying these things! I bought it on the strength of it having been reviewed as having a strong tobacco element which I simply adore in my hubby’s TD Tobacco Vanille. Fifi Chachnil is very different though. It’s very ‘boudoir’… soft, pretty, powdery, musky. It seems to me to be a very old style fragrance. Strangely, once the candy-like top notes disipate, I find it’s almost a skin scent. On me, the ‘tobacco’ is basically non-existent… this is all powder and roses. The camphorus notes are definitely there in the background though which may be my problem with it as I detest camphor. It is s pretty fragrance though… it may grow on me but I’m not sure it will have a chance – I have so many others I love so much more!!
boots542 – :
I sought out a sample of Fifi Chachnil as I am always interested in boudoir-style scents, but unfortunately for me, this one doesn’t seem to work. It is nothing like what I thought it was going to be, which is a shame, as I adore the bottle and the retro vibe it has going on. I expected this perfume to smell dark and smokey, with a good amount of spices and a background of sweet amber. Instead, this is transparent, sheer and fresh, and suitable for wearing during the day in a hot climate.
This scent reminds me of an old-fashioned oriental in the top-notes, dry instead of sweet (this fragrance in some ways does smell strangely familiar to me). There’s a watered-down tobacco, a halo of soft citruses and some peppery coriander, the coriander of which is prominent at times and I really enjoy the energy that it brings to the scent. Sometimes, there are hints of a mentholated, chemical smell, and I’m wondering if this is something that is trying to be a smokey tobacco note? The dry-down is a very softly spiced tobacco, with the tiniest dash of powder. I found that the scent was much better when I placed my nose directly on my skin, as I thought that there was a strange, chemical-smelling sillage.
Soft to moderate sillage on my skin; the longevity was for about 7-8 hours. I’m happy that I only have a few mls of this to use up 🙂

Hi Peta22. Keep us posted on the feedback you get from the supplier and a review of this one wiuld be great. I live in Brisbane anr have been thinking of buying. Where did you purchase from?
glybribre – :
This arrived today… From Fifi Chachnil in France to Perth, Australia in 6days! Very impressive!!! Sadly what wasn’t so impressive was the very poor condition of the product itself… I bought the 70ml EDP and, although the cellophane was still intact, once opened, the screw top on the bottle wasn’t secured properly and about 15ml of the precious liquid had leaked through the box, soaking and staining the pump atomiser as well as the entire box itself. The bottle neck tag has also been cut through somehow so it was loose in the bottom of the box. Knowing how beautifully perfumers generally present their product, this was all very, very disappointing 🙁 I’ve let Fifi Chachnil know of the condition the perfume arrived in so we’ll see how they respond… I’ll report back on the outcome and with a review of the fragrance itself… Having been overpowered by the potency of the mess I opened up, I’m not really able to objectively review it at the moment…

My friends, please go directly to a companys web site to find a perfume you deem hard to find. Whenever I decide to buy I always check the companys web site first. It insures freshness and a lower price. No markup needed. I just bought fifi extrait at her site. $128.00 after shipping. Can’t wait. Expecting it today.
lexa2011 – :
This little luxury I can’t afford arrived today, the only perfume in my wardrobe with an atomizer, and I’ve just enjoyed a first spritz (or four).
Fifi is o la la lovely, peppery, feisty, spicy, sexy, coquette, a sweet french kiss with a bite, forbidden nectar with a kick! You can smell the BOMB in sexbomb, and she’s not safe for work in any way, which is why I’m giving her almost four hours to settle down (I hope that’s enough haha!). Fifi smells the way I imagine BB does (although her signature scent was Jicky by Guerlain); horny, untamed, high maintenance, dramatic, rebellious, hypnotizing, warm, crazy, feminine and threatening.
I feel right at home with this fragrance 🙂
Edit at the end of the day: I am in love with this fragrance, it brings out my naughty side big time!
Alkash – :
I loved this perfume for special occasions… but 2 years later, even though I kept the screw-top on instead of the atomizer and it sat on my dresser in a windowless room, it’s no good. The juice is no longer a pink color, it lacks depth/strength, and smells cheap. My first experience with a perfume “going bad”… and such an expensive one too! At least the bottle is pretty? 🙁 I wish I had decanted it to an opaque bottle and kept it in a cool drawer, so I could leave the original bottle out all the time. Hindsight is the worst!
Sturisest – :
Def a sexy fragrance! It reminds me of Anne Pliska, which I love as well. Fifi starts out with more citrus than I thought it would, however that note is refreshing. It dries down to an orange flavored creme brûlée. I don’t get much tobacco, but that’s probably just my skin. this has great sillage as well. I feel like I’m standing in an aura of sweet boudoir sexiness.
xxxjjjxxx – :
Upsetting :/ as this perfume was so expensive i didn t use it for 1 year. Now for a very special occasion wanted to wear it.
I took it out of the package and horrificly regordnized it’s almost gone ! Vaporized because of the spray bulp?! Just some ml left of the 30ml bottle! i did use only twice before 🙁 best sexy parfume ever. What a shame :/
cf,bnjdf – :
This is such a unique fragrance, yet it still reminds me of something that I can’t put my finger on!
First & foremost – I’m so happy to finally find a fragrance with a prominent amber note that I truly enjoy. The stars of this show are tobacco & amber – both smokey, spicy, sweet and powdery all at the same time to appease every olfactory craving!
The opening is a bit of a jumble, but within moments this scent smooths out into something intriguing & alluring. To me, the impression is quite unisex, although the presentation is clearly geared towards the feminine side. The hints of spice amongst the other main accords throw in a hint of masculinity, but it could easily be worn by either sex. It’s 100% powdery, and very dry, as opposed to sweet powder.
Fifi, in my mind, is lumped into the same category of scents as Guerlain’s Shalimar (I especially find the texture similar to Shalimar. Thick, fuzzy, cozy and unique)- you need to be a whole lot of woman (or man) to wear this scent, and all of it’s smokey & powdery goodness! Those who are into ‘boudoir style’ scents will love this!
Gorgeous; If you’re looking for something with a whole lot of va-va-voom, pure seduction in a bottle, for the fairest of femme fatales…look no further than Fifi! (Don’t let the bottle fool you.)
arie511 – :
Wow this is certainly different to anything else I have tried for a while, beautifully strong and spicy straight away, almost too strong but quickly morphs down to something more manageable. I have to say my favourite part of this is the dry down – it is to die for! I thought my favourite dry down was with Shalimar but this beats it hands down. The first fragrance with tobacco that I would own, the sample I have is the EDT so keen now to hunt down the EDP. It’s stunning!
PS – it’s really annoying me that I can’t think of what this reminds me of – could it be Chanel Coromandel?
bogus089 – :
It is a very intimate, seductive powdery, smoky fragrance! The scent is perfect for the boudoir!
The first spray is very sharp and is similar to lemon-scented cleaning supplies. The scent eventually softens, and becomes spicy, aromatic due to the coriander. The coriander causes the scent to be mysterious! As the lemon mingles with the coriander, the warm amber goodness is gradually coming through. There is rose in the pyramid but it is well-blended because I do not sense it at all on my skin. The smell of tobacco is the most delicious thing to me, it is here to round the scent and blends beautifully with the sweet amber. A touch of the lemon still lingers beneath the all of the notes keeping it from becoming a dark, deep scent. This is a very sensual fragrance!
I have been looking for this for almost a year, a lovely person PM’d me out of the blue offering to sell me a decant of this, thank you so much!
91art91 – :
I adore this and my bottle is almost empty. I can’t find it anywhere–has it been discontinued?
Fifi is a sassy girl. She looks like a cotton candy blonde, but her heart and soul are spicy, smokey, and smart!
marianacatalina – :
This review is for the EDT
Sharp and citrusy, something unpleasant in the initial spritz and a whole ton of pencil shavings mixed with powder.
This takes forever to settle and when it does, it turns into a skin scent.
Is this what everyone is raving about or have I got a dud bottle??
kpvpvi – :
Whilst not a replica by any means, I have always thought there was a family resemblance between Fifi Chachnil EDP and Obsession. Funnily enough, today I read that they were created by the same perfumer Jean Guichard! Similar powdery, amber notes with a hint of citrus and naughtiness. Guichard also created Cartier So Pretty, LouLou, Fragonard Soleil amongst many others.
Igor976 – :
I *really* have to stop sampling perfumes that mock my budget.
But Fifi Chachnil is such a charming little darling that I’m willing to pay the price. It opens with a bright, sparkly citrus that has an edge of spice and spunk. A soft heart of rose sweetens things up, but only just enough to let you know that Fifi’s a sentimentalist deep down. Then there’s a gentle powdery note followed by a deeply comforting tobacco. That’s right, comforting. For me, this qualifies as a comfort scent. It’s so warm and inviting.
I can’t wait to order a full bottle of this… definitely not audacious… let’s say, “charmingly cheeky” perfume. It’s not a “bad girl” scent. It’s a scent for a good girl with a sense of humor and a touch of sass.
Delightful.

Thanks to dear Vie Cafe, I was able to sample this gem and it was immediate LOVE!!!! And I broke my rule of not sampling a perfume that I couldn’t afford!! My only excuse is that I didn’t know, before trying it, that it WAS expensive . . . and impossible to find. Of course I looked for it – that’s how I learned that it is expensive.
Alan1102 – :
“Fifi Chachnil” is another masterpiece of one of my favorites noses: Jean Guichard (Eden, LouLou, Obsession, So Pretty, Parfum de Peau, La Nuit)… and the bottle … OMG ! beautiful, lovely ! Another love !
hikmet_huseynli – :
This reminds me of Rizzo from the movie, Grease. She’s been wearing Kenickie’s leather jacket and since they are fighting, he asks her to return it. She liberally powders her nose and spritzes on her favorite perfume (Chantilly?)to go meet him. On her walk over she smokes and snarles at anyone who makes eye contact. When she sees him she hurls the jacket at him, then storms off.
Kenickie catches his jacket and and also catches the strong cloud of powder, cigarettes, sweat, and Rizzo’s sharp perfume. All stale, and all mingled together. He hangs it outside to air out, but it still has that sourness several hours later. Oh well, it’s not super sweet or floral, so no one will think he smells like a girl.
Rizzo is a brash, mouthy gal. I think I’d rather smell like Sandy 🙂
Update: Hubby picked this as his fav in a lineup. Apparently this French lingerie company knows what men like 😉
I REALLY like it layered with something sweet. I just don’t know if I’d pay for a fb to have to layer it.
OK, I went from meh, to like, to love, to NEED A FB ASAP! Fifi has won me over and now I find this scent so addictive and comforting at the same time. Too bad it’s so overpriced and hard to find in the US.
dariana333 – :
Don’t let the pink fluff fool you. She’s spicy, fun and doesn’t give a flip. Just enough sweetness to add sparkle to her spice, Fifi does what she wants and your job is to keep up.
I love this. The sweet, dry scent of fresh tobacco, tempered by tangerine and citrus, enhanced by coriander. There is a slight non-cloying sweetness that perfectly balances the piquant resin of the leaf. The amber is noticeable on my skin, but the rose is not; both of these notes lend the perfect softness to this blend. It’s sassy, feminine, playful yet refined.
This fragrance is hypnotic and dead sexy. Wear it to the office at your own risk.
pitomecx – :
What I find so enticing about this fragrance is that it feels like something that has been on the skin for hours when I first apply it. It’s sexy as hell, beginning with a bright, spicy citrus that doesn’t stick around for long on my skin. The amber is warm with smoky tobacco edges; with a not-too-powdery rose wafting in and out of the picture. I adore this—very feminine and sultry. If you love this, try Anne Pliska….her more experienced patchouli cousin. I have both on my arm at the moment; and they most definitely resemble each other. Mmm.
natasay – :
I got a blast of spice and not knowing anything about this perfume, I thought it was clove I was smelling. It must have been amber + coriander. Nothing sweet which I like to wear some days. I never got much citrus but a tobacco-rose after 3 hours. Very nice and I think a man could use this as well. The bottle made me think flowery, sweet and fruity but none of that is true.
svyatenko – :
Fifi Chachnil is like a very pretty pin-up girl who only has one facial expression in every one of her photos.
I smell watered-down tobacco, vanilla, citrus and something nutty. It hints at something smooth and sexy, like swirling smoke against velvet or satin, and I am a sucker for the bottle. It doesn’t really have much oomph or lasting power. She’s kind of simple, but likeable, this gal.
EDIT: The more I try it, the more I like it. Update from like to love.
Dimon97 – :
On my skin this smells like lemons and cigarettes. I noticed that some reviewers called this very feminine and sexy, I guess it can be sexy if you were wearing it while drinking the night away in a bar while losing your sense of smell as you go along.
The bottle is gorgeous, but what’s inside is far from it.
gr8686 – :
Does any one know where I could buy this in Australia other than online? I love the bottle and name but I would only buy it if I smelt it first.
genek1991 – :
Fresh, almost peppery citrus blending in with heavy rose scent, very soft and vanilla like without ever getting too sweet. Faint tobacco note in the drydown is perfecting the rose/amber mix. Very grown-up feminine, slightly bold but in a very sophisticated way. All but a cheap perfume, despite its moderate price. Love it!
197350 – :
Solo rose, citrus and amber, and tobacco leaf somewhere in them drowned. Amber resembles Voile d’Ambre Yves Rocher, Yves Rocher only it sounds warmer, because without citrus. Loop subtly feminine, resistance is not bad. But the bottle-real decoration for a dressing table!
mallidizni – :
This is so exquisite! Perfect heavenly blend of powdery spice. So ultra feminine and extremely long lasting!!!
azj363Bessinepome – :
This smells to me very much like Dior Addict. The opening is much more citrusy, but the drydown seems very similar -but less cloying- to me. It retains its slightly citrusy nature for a good while, but in the end, what it leaves is a warm, sweet amber with a bit of rose and vanilla. Very feminine, very very long lasting (more than 12 hours for the EDP), perfect for sexy nights and confident women.
pzw987elipseskism – :
It was a great surprise, and I loved it. It’s very identifiable. Fresh at the beginning, sweet and powdery with a mix of vintage notes (rose) and modern notes (tobacco). So powdery, so sweet and lasting power so long and perfect. It’s a perfume for women who are extremely feminine and who love to be women. I’m very surprised to love it because it’s very strong (usually I love sugary or fruity fragrances), but I think I love it because of this mix between sweetness and insolence.
nwn889speagoessenda – :
After many years of lusting after this perfume, I now own it! It’s a very feminine comfy, powdery pink scent. It’s initial spray resembles men’s cologne oddly enough, but only for a few minutes then it settles into a true perfume. It’s not loud but very cose to the skin with great longevity too. The notes are complex enough with rose, amber, sweet citrus but I fortunately don’t get any tobacco on me. Its not like other perfumes I can compare too, it is like the previous reviews…. Seductive, Sexy, French chic, classy and it comes in a perfect pink bottle! I feel fabulous when wearing it.
inter.iwanov – :
got the edt today, and it’s far stronger than expected. a few drops and it’s lingering and swirling around me very nice.
sexy deep powdery and smoky scent with some lucious hints of sparkling lemon and creamy rose… simple but very beautiful! it’s not of those scents, who are trying to be sexy to a maximum whit loads of sugar and patchouli, it IS pure sexyness in a bottle with facetts of innocence and understatement naughtyness.
it’s not even a tad sweet in the first half hour but then the spiced lemony rose changes to a creamy sweetness of lovely flowers – truly beautiful and intoxicating, still slightly spiced, woody and smoky with an warm ambery trail.
fifi perfume has a modern vintage-feel to it, what is very elegant and feminine, transporting a joyful creamy rose soap und powder vanity aroma. a very different interpretation to other vanity scents – and i think, this one is just on the right point.
the tobacco isn t that noticable as someone could be afraid of… it’s a golden blond tobacco, no darkness or dirtyness. it floats in the background, just to give this round perfume a slightly aromatic edge.
it reminds me instantly to fragonards grain de soleil but way smoother and softer by same intensity. love it 😀
a perfect seducing scent.
sillage wonderful, staying power exeptional!
the bottle is soooo pinup!!! a masterpiece!

Reviewing the EDT
Gorgeous ! Absolutely !
I have received today a “paper sample” of it and i couldn’t stop smell my wrist!
It is very powdery , comfy , and feminine (imao ) , but not totaly innocent because of the tobacco note .
It suits well the brand image , i really really like it and it’s one more on my endless wishlist .
WhiteWolf – :
Not sure whether I’d want to wear FIFI CHACHNIL as a perfume, but it certainly did a great job clearing up my sinuses and nasal passages on this drizzly day. Wow, what a startling opening: massive coriander and citrus, which somehow (I guess, assuming that camphor or menthol or something along those lines is not also in here…) together impart a camphorous quality which lingers on and on. I am convinced that this would truly work wonders for anyone suffering from a bad winter cold. Could also be a nice sauna scent.
In fact, this composition may be more a piece of aromatherapy, when all is said and sniffed, than a perfume, for the camphorous quality never really fizzles out as I would have expected. The myrrh does become rather marked over time, but its chaperone remains near by. Although the notes are very different, in terms of overall effect, FIFI CHACHNIL does not seem that far from my memory of Vivienne Westwood BOUDOIR with its equally weird bubble gum note. Which actually, come to think of it, makes a lot of sense.
venomstyler – :
I really do love this! On my wrist I can smell the rose in the first blast along with the coriander – I do get a sweet note from my skin. I don’t seem to get any of the citric notes at all and I don’t get any tobacco from this. At the middle stage the rose shines thru and I think it is only a few stages from sweetness to KM’s Loukhoum. I do get a very gentle amber entwined with a feint rose scent in the drydown.
This is very French and chic. I would say try the sample first and don’t be swayed by the gorgeous bottle. But it is worth the money and a little goes a long way – thankfully as I don’t think I could hawk the bottle and spray in my handbag or keep on changing the tops each time I went in and out!!!
I do think it is a perfume that depends on your skin’s chemistry as to how it eventually sits on you.
I tested this against Loukhoum and, certainly on my skin, the to have an extremely similar scent and it is only the Loukhoum that is sweeter!!!
zloy84 – :
This is absolutely a signatur fragrance. Very, very special and charakteristic smell. I guess, Fifi Chachnil personally wear it! The parfum is definitely she. It was created from Jean Guichard, who created LouLou also. Worthy every penny, very longlasting. Something for blonde women. Expensive. I don´t buy it for this price (70 ml EDP for 95 €) and actually it isn´t my kind of fragrance. It´s sharp for me, I like it sweet!
Prettiest bottle ever!
crazzzzy – :
Makes you feel strong and confident. It is true this stuff has a big masculine touch, but in a feminie way, if it can be said so.
The top notes are bright and agressive, mix of coriander and lemon. There is a rose, but dry, rocky one.I feel some vetiver too though not listed as a note.
The dry down is superb, amber and pipe tobacco..Feels very, very french and elegant.
dualist16 – :
Sampled this from luckyscent.com. Trust me, I REALLY wanted to love this one because the bottle is absolutely gorgeous.
When sniffing the sample vial it smells much better than on my skin so I think it has to do with skin chemistry. On me it smells very strong and spicy, almost like a mens cologne. I did not pick up any of the citrus notes on my skin but I can definately smell them in the sample. The tobacco note was VERY strong on me which I did not like at all. It had no sweetness to it and it was too strong and overpowering for me.
It is quite expensive so I recommend getting a sample first. I am sure that this would smell lovely on someone with the right skin chemistry.
gavski – :
This is really gorgeous, very sexy, has a strong tobacco note which is really nice combined with the citrus and coriander. It is expensive maybe sample before you buy. some say they think it smells like bug spray which personally I dont think is the case but might be worth sampling first. I really love this hope to get a full bottle soon.
Yolvent41 – :
I get the citrus and coriander at the opening. Opens fresh. Less crazy about the coriander as it settles, wish the other notes were more prominent. With wear, the rose does come forward. Softens too which is good though I don’t find this an overly heavy fragrance. It’s on the low end of like for me, since I don’t care for that much coriander in my fragrances.
