This cologne today is only about 50% the “power/projection” that it once was. Compared to the 2010 bottle it weak, still has some of the original DNA but much weaker.
To me its always smelled woody, cedar/pine I get no citrus out of this.

If I could go back in time I would buy every single bottle from the abercrombie store.
There is no doubt the Fierce they sell today is totally different from the mid 2000s Fierce.
I can tell because I have a 2017 bottle and a very old bottle from 2006 or 2007 wich still has the RED “FIERCE” lettering.
They are very different, both in smell and performance.
The old “red” fierce starts more spicy/peppery. It has a bold, aggressive opening, while the 2017 fierce is totally rounded and smoothened and does not have this opening.
Second, the old fierce has a much smoother/woodier drydown, it smells high quality and it has a heavy dose of ISO E Super (48% to be exact) in it. This chemical was the main reason Fierce was sexy for so many girls and also the extreme sillage+longevity was because of this ISO E Super concentration.
The 2017 fierce does not have this. It smells a bit synthetic and “metallic”, like they mixed in a bit of Dior’s Sauvage. That sexy, alluring ISO E Super vibe is still there but its alot weaker and different. This is because IFRA regulated ISO E Super to about 20% (instead of unlimited) and this was basically the death of Fierce somewhere around 2010.
Well, it sucks but it is what it is.
Its probably a good idea to layer the current fierce with Molecule 01. Spray the Molecule 01 on your skin, let it dry for 3-4 minutes and then spray the Fierce on the same spots. This might improve the smell and performance but I have not tested it myself, just an idea. 🙂

    The IFRA killed it.

Anyone who has smelled or tested Fierce after 2010 dont know what the real Fierce used to smell like.
It is drastically reformulated when they changed to the black cap somewhere in 2010 or 2011.
Its not Abercrombies fault, its all IFRA. They regulated ISO E Super, Oakmoss, Musk and some florals wich are all in Fierce, especially ISO E Super.
I know because I bought a vintage Fierce with the red lettering from ebay for a ridicolous price, bottle is from 2006 or 2007 and has the original, unreformulated smell.
I also have a 2016/2017 bottle so I can compare them side by side.
The new fierce still smells like fierce, they are 80% similar but the problem is, the missing 20% was exactly what made Fierce so good and successful.
The new Fierce drydown smells synthetic and a bit metallic and just average, the vintage drydown is a combo of high quality Iso E Super+Musk+Oakmoss.
It smells divine, and I truly understand now why all the highschool/college girls went crazy for it in the mid 2000s.
Yeah thats basically it, Fierce is dead, regardless of longevity or sillage, the scent itself is not the same.
Its like they sucked the soul out of fierce and only the shell remains with a hint of the original smell.
As for proof I really own the bottles and did compare them side-by-side, I took some shots with my DSLR, you can check them out here.
    imgur.com/a/qgF6z81
I dont think links work here so you have to copy in your browser. 🙂
My recommendation is, do NOT buy the new fierce.
Vintage fierce was godlike and worth the price, new fierce is not worth the price because its just an average cologne now.
Rather get a vintage bottle from ebay like me to truly experience the vintage Fierce, or just get Montblanc Legend wich is as good as the new fierce if not better, but much cheaper.
I know there is Fierce Intense, but I have not tested it, this might be an option but I cant say anything about it.

This stuff used to give me a migraine. Too bad, because it’s a beautiful scent.

Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for men. Fierce was launched in 2002.
Same unmistakable scent with an all-new look. Fierce epitomized sexy and became the most craved and sought-after scent in the U.S. and still is today.
It isn’t subtle. It doesn’t hold back. And it’s up for anything. Be unmistakable. Be fierce.

While I’ve no doubt a mass produced fragrance like this coming from such a widespread brand, will have its ups and downs regarding batches, I can only comment on the bottle I own (no idea what year it was produced)
The smell is indeed very similar to Mont Blanc Legend Intense (which I own also) but I prefer this as it’s not as sweet in the opening at least. Maybe A&F packs more musk?
Longevity wise there doesn’t seem to be much difference, sillage is possibly even stronger with A&F, yet the dry downs are different to my nose. Out of the two I’d actually say MB Legend Intense comes across as more synthetic, which surprised me somewhat.
It’s an addictive fragrance and although it’s definitely a youthful frag, it’s not so sickly to be restrained to the 18-25 age range. Depending on the circumstances this would smell fine on an older guy too I feel. Not in my top 10 (or even 20) but I do like it and if I had to replace this or MB then I’d choose A&F.

    Cheap, synthetic, just Ew.

I just got the original 100ml bottle but the sprayer doesn’t spray too much as my other 10 Fragrances do.. Is it how its supposed to spray? Also the performance is not the greatest. Incredible smell though.

    Batch 057Y
This fragrance went missing from my collection years ago. I thought one of my friends stole it or maybe my sister or parents threw it out because it was so ridiculously strong. I did some spring cleaning today and finally found it in the attic. The mostly full, 30 mL bottle from 2007 at the very latest was begging me to spray it.
I’m pretty sure this is the fragrance that got the IFRA to start regulating aromachemicals, because this thing is on another level of performance. Woody iso-e super galore, with all the oakmoss, lavender and coumarin needed to tie this fragrance back into fougere territory. This bottle in particular is technically a banned substance.
We all know what it smells like by now, but as someone below me mentioned, it calls heavily on GIT and Cool Water. I think there will always be one of these mass appealing fougeres in the limelight: we had Cool Water, then Curve, then Fierce, and now Sauvage, which must also be usurped in the next couple of years. Until then, Fierce is currently best in slot.

Guys, the new version is a shell of the former powerhouse it once was. The last time I purchased a bottle was in 2012, and it was pretty much the same as the original. Lasted forever, until I showered. This new version is just horrible. I faintly detect the Fierce DNA, but the performance is horrible. It’s got to be the worst performing fragrance I own. I really wasted my money. If you can find a bottle prior to the obvious reformulation, buy it! Performance: Longevity is 2 hours, Projection, maybe 30 minutes, and it’s a skin scent. I never give negative reviews on here, but my hope is that I save my fellow fragheads from wasting their money like I did. Shame on Abercrombie and Fitch for selling this. It was a beastly powerhouse at one time, but no more. Total waste of money guys.

This does not smell like the scent that emanated from the store when I was a kid in the 90s/2000s. This is reminiscent of the speed stick “musk” deodorant with the brown label, sharp almost like getting pool water up your nose / a little bit like a plastic toy piece of cheese covered w/ influenza. I’ve read that the scent I’m thinking of may have been a “aerosol body spray” version also called fierce but with substantially different composition. I don’t know, and I barely-care , not to sound too much like a rapper, I know barely care what a great rap punch line I should go out and live on the streets and make it big time eating ticks and hitting kids

I found it very hard to find in Malaysia. And i am eagerly to grab one. Legend says that this beast is the King of Seduction among ladies. Because of ISO E i guess.

I just got my bottle shipped directly from abercrombie.com yesterday.
Its the new version with the bright and bold “FIERCE” lettering compared to the older, dark grey lettering. Box is different too.
    So this is a mid/late 2017 batch.
Performance is pretty good. I get a solid 8 hours of it.
    Nothing to complain about.
At first I thought maybe I will regret buying this but not at all.
People who say the newer batches last like 30 minutes or something… probably Abercrombie hater or trolls.
Nonsense. This stuff lasts a good 8 hours on me, with one spray on the back of my hand.
Overall Im happy with the purchase, although I also have Montblanc Legend and they are 90-95% similar but Legend is not even half the price of Fierce so I would suggest you Legend unless you really want the Abercrombie bottle in your collection.

I’ve reviewed 6 or 7 EDT’s now and I confess that I don’t know a tonka bean from vetiver but I have always loved nice smells.
I just got my first ever bottle of A & F Fierce today – Ebay $30, 3.4 oz. and it smells good – classy and sophisticated. It put me in mind of some other recent acquisitions, namely, Lauren’s Safari, United Dreams Aim High Benetton, and Terre d`Hermes. I wondered if this was some kind of coincidence or just chance.
So I decided to try a side-by-side test and put two sprays of each of the four on my hands and wrists. After an hour and the dry down it is apparent to me that although they all share a similarity that I haven’t the ability to intelligently relate they, none of them, smell anything alike.
But I would almost bet that no-one could smell them all in a side-by-side comparison and be able to say which is which. But again, they are all top notch.
About the Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce; the spray nozzle is a cheap affair, a disaster that just fell off and bounced behind the dresser. Luckily a nozzle from a cheap and expendable bottle of cologne replaced it well enough.
Additionally I was surprised that the mondo tacky, low-common-denominator image of a buff, narcissistic, muscle worshiper was, tacky upon tacky, a mere paper label affixed, askew, with uneven gluing down an entire side of it.
THIS is a bottle of cologne you WOULDN’T want anyone to see.

    Girls love it!
    Fresh, clean, sexy.
Smells simple, but it’s simplicity make it a very well accepted fragrance.
It lasts an eternity on clothes, unfortunately on my skin it lasts about 5 hours.

  18. :

I finally got it!!!! Woohoo!!! Can’t wait to spray my room and clothes with this. It’ll take me back to my brand-rep A&F days. I’m a girl by the way, but can honestly tell you this is the best cologne I’ve ever smelled

I bought this to add to my growing collection since I put on my frag hat few weeks ago. I have done a lot of blind buys since I’m getting some good deals around the holidays. I was a little hesitant since the price was rather high and I wasn’t able to get through my usual sites for some discounts. Anyways bought directly from Abercrombie and I have to say this juice is something. The smell is inviting and invigorating. I immediately understood why it was and is still popular. This is an iso e super superstar. This has off the charts longevity and projection. If yours doesn’t you either bought a fake or are lying here. It is worth the full price and probably a deal since considering how little goes a long way.

    Fragrance -Fierce Abercrombie & Fitch
    Bottle from – 2015
Fierce is a fresh, woody, green and clean interpretation of musk with a hint of citrus notes and spices in the openining, followed by flowers and herbal notes in the middle and vetiver in the drydown. It is very similar to the Legend by Montblanc.Try before you buy. Some good reviewers have mentioned longevity issues. In other words, try it on skin first.
    Longevity – 8/10(8+hours)
Silage/Projection – 7/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 2-3 hours)
Weather – best in spring, summer and autumn.
    Age – 18-35
    Compliments – 8/10
    Scent – 8/10
Main notes according to me – musk, lemon, fir, vetiver, rosemary, flowers.
The drydown is nice and i get some woodiness, vetiver and musk.
    Emotions – peaceful forest,clean,fresh,timeless,green.
Occasion -perfect for casual activities, scholl, college and office.
Could be a nice signature scent. You’ll get compliments with this one.

I like this one. People on here tend to get caught up on how much frags cost or certain frag houses. I go by if I get completed on the frag or not. I get completed every time i wear this one so I keep coming back to it. Nice simple 3 notes. Very safe buy

    The ultimate casual fragrance.
Going through my 3rd bottle now.
    Excellent projection, sillage and longevity
Although: I KIND OF think the new formulations are a bit weaker than before (compared with 2012 formula)

  25. :

yesterday i tested this stuff. bad news guys. a regular scent and very low projection and longevity. sorry.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

This is one of the best fragrances ever! The smell would not fall into a description of “unique” with the common notes of cardamom, citrus, fir, and other greenery, but all are blended amazingly under a musky a background, which makes Fierce so appealing and everlastingly youthful.
Fragrances usually do not last very long on my skin, but Fierce works perfectly fine for me, with longevity of 10 hours plus!
I see a lot of comments here regarding the negative connotation of Fierce with the A&F store itself. It’s fortunate that there’s no A&F store in my country (yet), so it wouldn’t smell “overused” here.

  27. :

What happened?!?!? Scent gone in 20 minutes. Nothing, not even a skin scent. It’s like I was given water in a glass bottle with a hint of fragrance.

Fierce gives off a energetic and youthful vibe while staying refined. I first came across this fragrance on a friend, and I decided it a must-have ever since. Luckily, I got a deal with a 50ml bottle this week.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

I have a very old bottle of this with about 20% remaining. I was at the mall this past weekend and decided to go into A&F to test the current stuff and they actually had the current bottle (2017) alongside the gen before that (both different than my OG bottle). I tested each on separate arms and here’s what I found; The 2015 version is OK but nowhere near the strength of the original I still use. The current 2017 batch is absolutely a freaking joke. It was so bad, that by the time I got back to my car 30 minutes later the 2017 Fierce was totally and completely gone. nothing. ziltch. nada. I ended up going back to get the previous gen bottle as it’s “doable” enough, but even that is changed quite a bit. I was surprised to see a comment below about the longevity being brought back up the OG standard, it’s NOT. AT ALL. Times like this I really think I’m going to just sell all my bottles and say F it because these companies and the IFRA are ruining everything. sad day indeed.

  30. :

Not worth buying anymore as it has simply far inferior performance and the smell is not even the same anymore! The current formulation smells like a more musky and richer Liz Claiborne Curve mixed in with Dior Sauvage. It smells extremely cheap and poorly made and does last at all! Don’t waste your money on this inexcusable poor reformulation! Save your money and get Mont Blanc Legend instead! It’s pretty much a clone of the old Fierce room spray they used to spritz the entire store with back in the day. You’ll thank me later 😉 Happy fragrance hunting!

    “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
Ok sorry about that, but I always wanted to go there with this one :).
Anyways, let’s start off by discounting some of the facts currently associated with this: Copycats(dupes)/Reformulations and all the negativity/douchebaggery associated with A&F. The original is truly a great scent that is very sexy, masculine, and conveys youth and vigor. As others have said, parts of it bear resemblance to a lush forest after a rain storm.
However now, those facts I previously mention have kind of put this scent in the ‘overused’ category for me. Yes I still think the current Fierce smells good, but I don’t want to smell like an A&F store all day. Although as of late, it seems to me like A&F has cut back on the loudness some in their stores with the Fierce “room spray” as part of their reorganization/remodeling efforts. Also, the base scent of Fierce is practically used everywhere else now. For example, I have RawChemistry’s pheromone oil that smells suspiciously similar to Fierce and its dupes.
Overall it’s a great sexy, woodsy, versatile scent, but unfortunately, I think it’s being driven too much into the ground.

  32. :

    5 out of 5

Smells great and has good performance but the bottle is cheesy as hell. Why would I want some douchebag’s abs on my dresser?

  33. :

    5 out of 5

It’s generic and overrated, which is fine. The part that isn’t fine is that it’s generally harshly synthetic and after about an hour I detect a very off-putting salt note. I may revisit it in the future, but I don’t really think I will.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

The OG! So many fragrances around now smell like this—let’s start rifling some off: Mont Blanc Legend and it’s flankers, Preffered Fragrances Blaze, Victoria’s Secret Platinum, Ed Hardy Skulls & Roses, Playboy New York, Armaf Edition One, and the list goes on. They all smell pretty to somewhat close, but there is only one original, that that is this.
Honestly, this fragrance has been so played out in 90% of North America, but guess what: I don’t care. I still wear it, and people still love it. I have three 1.7oz bottles from the 2004-2010 period, and one 6.8oz from around 2013 (that has the wooden cap). Honestly, I think I like the new one better, I seem to get more lemon in the opening and the performance isn’t all that much different for me.
All in all I think this fragrance is STILL compliment getter, still an all-year round versatile scent, and still a great purchase.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

I do not understand all the hate at the reformulation. I bought this in december 2016, and the performance are great in this one. I get 7-10 hours with 4 sprays, 3 on clothes and 1 on the neck. And then there is the sillage… Lets just say, YOU WILL GET NOTICED. And only positive comments from girls.
In the opening i get a lot of citrus with a hint of musk, and then the amazing dry down happens 20-30 minutes later, and turns into this warm, musky and wooden scent.. mmmmmmmh.
It smells so warm, sexy and relaxing.
    It just smells amazing.
    Scent: 10/10
    Sillage: 8/10
    Longevity: 8/10

  36. :

    3 out of 5

I had always heard about this fragrance but never tried it. So I got a little decant just to check it out. I really really like the scent itself. BUT….like others have stated repeatedly, it’s gone within a minute.
If this would last I’d buy a bottle immediately, cause I enjoy the smell that much. But no way I would lay out the cash with such poor performance.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

Not worth buying now as has been reformulated and simply has far inferior performance, far better off buying ‘Ben Cohen EDT’ which is a clone of this now.

Bought this scent last year, because my girlfriend loved the scent from back in the day…memory lane type of thing.
Bought it and wore it…nothing like she remembers.
Sprayed it seven times, ever since then, it’s had a nice spot on my dresser collecting dust.
    I wish I could say I bought a 5 or 10 ml sample…Nope!
I went big and bought the 6.7 Oz Bottle For $87.00(Employee discount) bucks.
    willing to trade.
Anyway, It lasts about 8 hours.
And smell it around 2 feet away maybe more depending on how much you use. I only use 3 to test it out and four while on a date with my girlfriend.
    It smells like Legend.
And if it had a pineapple note: it would be the expensive version of Curve by Liz Claiborne
    Is it worth it…
To me, no, but everyone is different.
To me, it smells very generic.
    To each his own.
    Update: Traded it away. 07/02/2017

I got this bottle just for keeping because I like the scent so much. I can’t wear it because I’m a girl and I don’t think it would work nicely for females; however, the scent is so beautiful and attractive I just have to have it in my collection. The store lady told me it is the same perfume they use in A&F store. A&F stores used to be a big part in my high school/college years. Just to keep this bottle as a token of my memory is worth it 🙂

When i smelled this fragnance for the first time, somewhat i imagine that i transform to be the person on the picture of the bottle, a young and attractive guy who have muscular sixpack abdomen that loved by every chick at highschool. The opening is blast of woody notes that really strong and full of masculinity, but the only thing that i don’t like about it is the soapy/musky dry down that comes across as boring and generic. i remember to wear this on my recent marathon, i wore it at 5.00 am in the morning then i ran for 21K and few hours later at 3.00 pm i still smelled it standing still there proudly. This is one of the strongest masculine scents that i have ever wore. Overall it is a sexy and confident scent that will loved by everyone.

Hopefully, it’s the best reformulation they’ve done. They keep ruining one of the greatest fragrances by making it weaker. I’m interested in the new one if it performs much better than the last crappy one they produced. If only they could bring back the original scent and strength from 2002 with the red lettering.

Very disappointed this scent last 1 hour on my skin I paid top money for it £90 for 100ml I do not recommend this fragrance BE WARNED.

  51. :

    3 out of 5

This is one of the strongest fresh scents I have ever smelled.
The oppening is this really strong masculine blast of orange and lemon with spice; is like the kind of friend that when you say hello, he returns the hello with an “hey dude” and punch you in the arm.
If this fragrance was able to get human form, it would be that of a young, attractive guy, who plays for he’s college/ high school football team, and all the chicks are crazy about. The only thing I don’t like about it is the soapy/musky dry down that comes across as boring and generic.
Overall is a very sexy/confident strong fresh scent, that I believe young guys will love to wear, and chicks will love their boyfriend to wear it.

So like most of you on here, including myself, we can all agree the recent formulation is pretty disappointing. But I work at Abercrombie and Fitch and I just got wind that we are about to release a relaunched “Fierce” with new bottling similar to 2002 red letters look and also, wait for it…. A FORMULA CHANGE. Corporate is saying that it will be a return to the 2002 formulation with, in their own words: “muskier, bolder, and stronger” smelling juice. Although they are also saying it won’t be totally the same because of health reasons but they have formulated it to apparently smell “identical” to what it used to be in its glory days. Check out the new bottle design on Instagram @thesitchonfitch Can’t tell you guys how excited I am! Pricing and release info are yet tba. Peace.

It is what it is. It’s bittersweet. I repurchased this fragrance last week after a two year hiatus. Indeed, it has been reformulated. All of ingredients from my previous 2014 bottle are the same except for four: ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethylhexyl salicylate, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, & BHT have all been added.
Do I regret the purchase? I don’t know. Maybe I am tricking myself into believing that it performs differently because I know that it’s been reformulated. The smell’s the same, I guess. Whatever. . . .

OooOOK! I was waiting for this day. Today i recieved my A&F Fierce cologne. I smelt it for 1st time. As many said it is one of the best selling colognes in USA, one of ten most compliment getter frags, very good quality and many other. Im living in europe so no one here knows about this beast mode scent.
IMO: Firstly the bottle is simple but you can recognised in it the high quality of the perfume. Pure clear glass, heavy metalic cup, (i think so the torso photo is not the best idea for men fragrance but what to do).
Before i didnt believe that there is a frag only for young but this is true.. Is suitable for under 30 years old men.
For first time i smelt it i loved the opening. Is dreamable opening. The dry down is very little bit boring-flat. In 2002 when Fierce relised I am sure that this Cologne was something unique, something amazing. Today this sent is not so unique because of numerous clones. Is smell exactly like the most AXE deodorants. This musky scent…
I love it, is something different. However, the longevity is 3-4H, after this become skin scent. It has also poor sillage .
I dont know yet about the compliment getter factor of it.
I dont recognize in it the rose, cardamon, vetiver. in dry down. I only get strong musk.
Im not sure if my version of Fierce cologne is totally different from the original. Anyone can say me? My bratch code is 0146I.
For those who want buy it blindly i can say: it is the AXE apollo scent more concentrated and in better quality.
    scent: 9,5/10
    versatile: 9/10
longevity 12 h (but, as a skin scent)
    sillage: 6/10
    unique: 10/10

I felt like I needed to review this based on how unhappy I am with the recent formulation. I bought this from the Abercrombie store around April 2016.
This is not the same juice as it was mid 2000s. I remember the vintage fierce lasting 10 hours+ — it would last from early morning 7am until 10pm, only after showering would the scent go away.
This new juice is so watered down it’s no longer worth the purchase. There are much cheaper alternatives (I paid ~$80 USD for 50ml bottle) with much better performance. I get 30min-1hour of okay projection and then it becomes a skin scent. I’m not even kidding, sprayed it at 9pm tonight and its a skin scent at 10:30pm. Asked someone if they could smell my cologne and she could only smell it when she dug her nose into my arm.
I really wanted to like this because I remember how much of a compliment monster it used to be. Also, no one in my country uses Abercrombie so I figured it would be unique. Save yourself the money and pass on this one.
The scent is nice, but what’s the point if it only lasts about an hour and no one can smell it. Huge disappointment and wishing I just purchased another bottle of Legend Mont Blanc instead of this garbage.
It’s really sad seeing a once great fragrance turn to crap after reformulations. What’s even more surprising is this is probably one of the few products keeping Abercrombie’s business alive — why ruin your best product.
    RIP Abercrombie Fierce 2002-2016

It has something from legend but no, they are not the same. This is much better and more masculine and mysterious. something from egoiste platinum. A safe fragrance and surely will draw compliments. Another one examble that the “this perfume reminds me of” posts are missleading and people should not follow it strictly. We must not forget that the same ingredients are used in perfumes basically and surely one will have something from the other. The detail is the difference and this detail makes the difference…but i dont understand all this love fro everybody…..is ok nice cologne but nothing to justify all these good comments…..

Reading previous comments, there definitely is a difference of opinion between the old and new version. I have no idea how old the old version was, but the last time I bought and wore this beauty was in 2011 on my first meeting with my soon to be husband. He reckons it is the smell that represents me and loves it massively. Strangely enough, I did not repurchase another bottle after this, and it is only this week that I decided to buy a 200ml (bargain for £99). Apprehensively I sprayed before going to work, and expected the smell to fade within hours. Nope! After 6 hours, still there. So I can say that it still the same juice.
Ps. I tried Legend and Egoiste Platinum: same opening notes, but not as powerful as Fierce.
Also, there is no such think as young kid or old man perfume. Nonsense. You can wear Habit Rouge at 25 and Fierce at 52 (like me).

This is the only perfume I’ve been wearing for many many years. Before this I changed all the time.
I bought some new fragrances in the past couple of months. highly praised fragrances which I also like very much. But whenever I wear something else and I happen to pass a guy wearing this I start to think: hmm I would actually prefer smelling like this. 🙂
So to me it just smells nice, fresh (but not too fresh), sexy but inoffensiv, manly and it can be worn to every occasion. I know there’s a lot of hate for it being for kids and a high school scent but this does not apply in Switzerland.
So to me, my most loved scent!

Quickly became one of my top fragrances. Fierce is fresh, strong, long lasting and actually has charisma.
The part I like the most is in the evening, when the scent isn’t “yelling” anymore and has become a natural smelling, fresh scent. Still with a bit of an edge to it.
    Just good!
    8,5/10
