Sort of a hairspray or a synthetic soapy type of scent to my nose. Definitely not a real deal rose scent to me, and no white floral that I can pickup nor citrus. Decent longevity, I get a good 8 or so hours out of this, depending how many spritzes. Can be a little synthetic smelling. Not crazy about the bottle, but, meh….A large bottle can be had for a very affordable price, so, guess ya can’t complain. I will say, the body lotion of this smells absolutely lovely, so pretty. The body lotion has a nice clean, soapy type of scent. I do love the body lotion. Sad that the EDP doesn’t jive well with my skin.

I’ve been trying to identify the Ferragamo france I wore in the 80″s hat was cancelled. I thought it was F but not now with the reviews… I can’t find it for the life of me.. it was in a silver cannister.

In summer there’s more neroli, and in colder seasons there’s more jasmine. Timeless scent, not about any particular decade in perfumery, and that alone makes it a good one.

I get the bubblegum and/or candy references. I can smell the orange blossom faintly after about 10 minutes from putting it on. Then it turns into a generic powder scent.
It’s very light and close to the skin. It is pretty inoffensive and lasts around 4 hours, even on clothing.
I wanted more neroli and more orange blossom. I still think this will be good for the summer months.

  5. :

I don’t know if neroli just doesn’t do well with my chemistry, but I’m coming to realize that no perfume with a heavy neroli scent ever works well on my skin. This one is no exception–all I smell here is a fresh and somewhat powdery neroli. I’m not picking up any rose or jasmine.

Weird scent. Really clean and “classy” smelling. Sweetish. Attractive, but still gives me a headache so I think some of the notes are missing from here. I hate jasmine, but can’t smell any with this. Also, there’s something not listed making this so sweet.

Yes MELLYBEE & others I do smell the grape, that’s why i think it smells like Couture by Juicy Couture… It’s a very nice scent, not bad at all. It is sweet but not overly. I do get white florals n the vanilla – check! So overall it is a nice modern any occation scent. Will include it in my rotation when i want to feel young n sweet!

I’m just developing my “nose” so I cannot tell you about the notes and how they develop on my skin … what I can tell you is that at the suggestion of my man, I ordered a sample of F by Ferragamo and when I wore it, he kept drawing me to him and inhaling me… now ladies, isn’t that the reason we wear perfume in the first place? This perfume is perfect for that evening when you are feeling beautifully feminine, captivating and sexy! This lasted on me for hours and hours (which is amazing as that never happens for me) with a nice silage. The dry down is interesting as it just gets creamier and softer, but doesn’t morph into something else. It actually matures into better versions of itself. In one word this scent is decadent!

My brother gave this to me and at first, I just found that it was too overpowering. I didn’t use it for a year. When I finally gave it a chance, I found that the trick is to use it sparingly and to let it set. An hour after spritzing maybe and voila! The true body of this fragrance takes you to perfume nirvana. It reminds me of no-nonsense women in the corporate world – able to take a man’s job and still be a dashing vixen in her own right.

Sheridanellis– you are not alone in the violet candy scent arena. I have never had a scent so not match its description as this one. I once had some violet flavored candies that an English friend of mine forced me to try, and I smell like they tasted! I loved them, which was unexpected. I have never found that candy since, probably because it was from London, and I now live in Western NY…I imagine that other people can smell roses, but not I. My friend thought it was a wonderful floral when she smelled it out of the bottle. Even out of the bottle, I only can smell violets. It’s taken over an hour to get to the grape syrup stage that others have mentioned that it opens with. Perhaps it just has some crazy long phases with my body chemistry. My son swears I smell like roses and candy. Perhaps my nose just mashes up the neroli and roses. I can feel the jasmine, I just can’t smell it. This is a powerful scent, spray lightly! Like ONCE and spread that juice around because this is just a pure wall of scent, no matter what notes you smell. And it lasts, and lasts, and lasts. This also is seasonal, the powerhouse violet is a little less violent [yeah, violeNt] in the colder months. This baby could kill you if you tried to wear it on a too hot or too humid day. I love it, it lasts for about 12 hours, has a whopper sillage, and gets down to skin scent for the 12th-16th hour.

    You so LADY.
My boyfriend says this smells like “dirty sex bubblegum”. And I get what he’s saying.
This is thick, sweet orange blossom and jasmine. It’s heady and unapologetically feminine. Nearly cloying at times.
If you enjoy Classique EDT, you will also like F by Ferragamo.

Fetish, huh?! I had no idea what i was wearing in my teens!!! Ha ha ha
The bottle is what attracted me to this one… it’s exquisite!
The perfume is womanly, flowery and in spite of its few notes its really complex. It tends to change throughout the day and u catch yourself following a beautiful spell, in the end realizing your perfume has just shape shifted again and that beautiful smell is… U! =)

How could I have doubted your mastery Francis?
F by Ferragamo crept up behind me, tapped me on the shoulder and calmly asked “Are you ready (to get to know me)?”
    Absolutely!
I have detested this thing for years (a blind buy based on my admiration of the Perfumer – sadly disappointed upon receipt). Something happened recently and FbF and I are on speaking terms. We finally understand each other.
I get a lot of Francis Kurkdjian’s signature neroli (Gaultier Squared springs to mind here) in the opening. Its intensity is a bit of a turn on actually! A slightly soapy and subdued (compared to the top) heart plays with your senses, a bubblegum rose wraps itself around you, making this wearer laugh with astonishment. This is gorgeous!
A warmth resonates from the base. I don’t feel a lot of jasmine here. F is surprisingly warmblooded given the prolifically represented orange blossom resurrected during the latter stages of evolution on my skin.
Once again I find myself humbled by the wonderworking of quality perfumery.

This time I didn’t blind buy. I tested it and bought it the next day. Good thing I didn’t read internet reviews of it or I may not have purchased it. Why the hate? Well, I think it’s gorgeous. It smells warm with just a little sweetness and flowers that aren’t sharp or harsh, just very smooth and creamy. There is also a bit of a retro vibe to this smell. It reminds me of scents that might have come out in the late 70s like Halston and others. That’s a my favorite era for fragrances. It’s sexy, elegant and usually available for a good price – can’t ask for more than that! This will be in heavy rotation this winter.

I am now on my second bottle of F. This is one of my favorite cold weather fragrances because it lingers in my blankets and coats long after is has worn off my skin. It is a sweet floral that is beautifully put together. My husband loves it too.

I bought a 1 oz bottle today @ T.J. Maxx in the States for only $10.00 which I thought to be a good deal. I was exchanging my Diamonds and Rubies which I just couldn’t tolerate even after trying to revisit it and understand that fragrance after several years.
Anywhooo….this is the oddest fragrance on my skin. I get pure VIOLETS. Almost a linear & exclusive violet smell until about 3-5 minutes in and then comes a sweet candy smell that smells identical to PEZ candies.
There is no candy or violet notes listed so I am wondering if this happens to anyone else. I scanned the reviews quickly but didn’t see any comments about violets as of yet…(I didn’t read through them all though). The bottle is down-right weird and not fun to get the cap off of. I am not sure what in the world the designer was trying to do there…it was almost like over the top creativity that back bombed.
I am really loving this scent and it also sparks memories of my Grammy who killed every house plant imaginable other than the prettiest tiny purple violets which she could coax to bloom year round. 🙂
    xo

OK, please don’t be jealous… I grabbed two bottles of this amazing F by Salvatore Ferragamo EDP 3.0 for only $23 each at Perfumania Managers Special. It was Christmas in August my friends! I simply love this fragrance. I enjoy the full bodied Jasmine flora and yes it is a bit powdery, but in a clean fresh appeal. It is a cashmere companion to Levi’s and snow boots with a handsome date. You should always be dessert, dear!

I’m only 19 but i TRULY AND UTTERLY in love with this. this reminds me of my aunt. it is so feminine, mature and sweet. Makes me feel an adult. I get so much compliments whenever i wear it. Very sexy scent.I love the rose, and orange blossom. I recommend it at night time, when you are going to a dinner with the girlfriends or simply with your man!!!!!!!

its quite heavy although long lasting. The sillage is great but would not recomend this for allergy sufferers. Its truly a classical floral.

  23. :

A mature, mostly linear floral which on the whole stays close to the skin..
    I applied 6 heavy sprays..
    0-5 mins -Nothing much, synthetic
5 mins- 1 hour – 6 inch projection. This is 75% the same as YSL Paris. The 25% difference is floral on top. Ages 55-75. Not too my taste and it smells to me like a dated 80’s frag which is suprising as the bottle is so modern
    1 hour- 3 hours – 2 inches. Linear
3 hour – 5 hours – 1 inch projection. The floral starts to take over and mellows the scent and this is the best bit. Ages 47-67. Soapiness creeps in towards the end, then smokiness and it gets a little more spicier
Not for me but my wife really likes it, so the blind buy worked! This may not be good for allergy sufferers

I totally agree with the Hubba-Bubba note, there is some plastic, artificial inside. Does anybody wants a 50 ml bottle of it? ‘d like to change, maybe against Carolina Herrera CH or Carolina?? Or just suggest some other change ;-))

I received this as a gift-most of Feragammo scents I liked well enough so I was shocked when I sprayed this and got “oh no, I don’t like this” kind of moment.
When I was young and growing up in a former Soviet Union, to me, wearing perfume meant wearing something very floral and strong because seemed like all the women I knew wore these kinds of fragrances. This is what F reminds me off-“perfumy” scent that screams “I’m wearing perfume”. Orange blossom predominates this(and I don’t like orange blossom) and I can barely smell rose and jasmine. I seriously can’t understand why anyone would think this is too sweet unless they only wear spicy orientals and chypres. I don’t get the bubble gum/candy comparisons, this is strong “alcohol” like floral. If this smelled like candy, I would have liked it!
I’m definately dissapointed, I wanted to like it and sampled it numerous times but alas, its not working for me.

This is a strange raspberry/grape Hubba Bubba with hint o’jasmine concoction. More Fruity than Floral. Perfect for those with the ‘I-love-smelling-like-bubble-gum’ Fetish.

I was given this as a gift. It is much, much too overpowering and powdery. It is the first fragrance to actually make me feel ill, and I had to get it out of my house. I had to shower after applying it unfortunately. Defintiely does not work with my chemistry.

Just gave it another try. Love the loud opening….but the drydown smells just aweful to me….ugh, can’t do it, too torturous. I don’t mind mono scents every now and then…but mono + too chemical….not a good combination. Alien has 3 notes as well, but it’s lovely from beginning to end… they are like day and night. I would say 90% of the perfumes agree with my chemistry….it must be that 10% or just a matter of personal taste.

I bought it today, and i’m so in love…its sweet and casual, simple, easy to use and kinda sensual but in a subtil way.
    Lets see the staying power…
I love incanto shine and on my skin it lasts pretty good.
This one is more mature than incanto shine…but love them both.
Now i want to buy the original incanto.
I’m getting adicted to buy perfumes i dont know whats happening to me lol

For some reason I shunned from this Ferragamo for a long time after numerous testing. Probably because the simplicity of notes and sweetness. But today I saw it at Marshalls again and said to myself ” what the hell, you like it, just buy it instead of sniffing it for years”. So I got it together with a large lotion. And I’m glad I did.
It is sweet, but not cheap smelling or “Fantasy”-like. Kind of bold and dramatic.
I think this perfume really suits my personality. I love to wear bright-colored, unique clothes. And F would go great with my style. Thumbs up!
Edit: I wore it out for a few hours and my initial excitiment has diminished significantly. Even though F doesn’t change much from top to drydown, in the beginning it’s quite nice bright and bold, but after about an hour it turned so synthetic on me, some kind of plastic smell. My sweater smelled just aweful. I was really uncomfortable wearing it around people. It happens extremely rarely when something i like in the beginning turns aweful on me, but I guess it’s the case.
The good part is I only got 1 oz. bottle. And the lotion is very pleasant-smelling without synthetic notes.

F by Ferragamo was the very first scent by SF (for women) that I ever sniffed (like mandashell at TJ’s) and the box was opened, and so I sprayed some in the box…
HOLY MOTHER OF HEAVEN, that’s powerful stuff! Sweet, powdery in your face (and not going anywhere) there was a huge heavy floral layer as well, but my Mother began to sneeze and ran the other way with the cart…and she loves Ysatis!
I sniffed the box again and said “WOW! Just…Wow!!” I put it back in the box…and the scent was in my nostrils for almost an hour!!
From the reviews here, I see that (maybe, just maybe) I should have let it dry down, and sniffed again, though I am, quite honestly, afraid to do so! This perfume was quite over the top, it does have lots of personality and something all its own. It reminds me of the gum chomping hot-pants wearing southern sassy waitress Florence Jean Castleberry who worked at Mel’s Diner on the 70s TV show Alice! (“Melvin Sharples: Kiss MY Grits!”) I loved Flo…but do not think I could stand a steady diet of her…
    Sillage: wow!
    Longevity: all day (I’m guessing!)
Overall: 2.5/5 *middle of the road*
Maybe it was “bad”. *muses to self* Do synthetic concoctions “turn”?! Perhaps, I should have been more patient…I shall endeavor to try this again sometime and see (resniff)…some people whose opinions I treasure really like it. Tastes do change you know!

Sooooo pretty! F is a lovely powerful fragrance for jasmine lovers. It is a sweet floral composition and it is really hard to distinguish notes on their own but if this is how rose, jasmine and orange flowers smell – I love the mixture!
It is great for office wear as well as romantic date.
It has outstanding lasting power and sillage.
I have had a chance to try it thanks to my Fragrantica sister (thank you!)
If it wasn’t for a swap, I would have probably missed that one which would be a great shame as F is one of the most wonderful florals I have ever worn. I agree, yes, it becomes really sweet at some point but I see it as a distinctive advantage as I am a declared fruity lover 🙂

  36. :

    5 out of 5

Oh boy! I apologize in advance to the lovers of F but this fragrance is NOXIOUS!! Opens up with a stone cold and sweet artificiality that sends my head spinning. This effect wasn’t solely present on my skin but on the test strip on hand in my car. I couldn’t say much more about this one because I never allowed it to progress pass the top notes and hadn’t removed it completely from the wrapper. While in my car, I quickly pulled right up in front of the TJMAxx with my engine still running and swiftly returned the item. Maybe I purchased a bad bottle..? Who knows….? But what I do know is that this is one you MUST test before buying!! DO NOT BLIND BUY THIS ONE!! I am warning you!! The reviews will not live up to the hype for F! This is a highly synthetic mess of a perfume. Fairy Dust has nothing on this one! o.O

by reading the reviews and the fact the nose behind is Francis Kurkdjian, i was expecting really mutch from this perfume. the striking bottle is one point more to have put this very top on my wishlist.
    finally recieved today!
the top note is intoxicating. i could pass the whole day by spraying this fume ! unfortunately the delicious grape syrupy sweet and powdery topnotes fade away quickly and i can detect this a lot named chewing-gum type smell. this stays for a long time linear – nothing than slight sweet pink bubbly chewing-gum.
late rit becomes just plain pepper and slightly powdery jasminflower. but it seems to get sweeter after a while. it reminds me poppcorn and candy. but where is the base?
i’m not shure about this perfume, it’s quite strange to be a very comfort scent and i don’t find it bold what is such a pitty. but it seddles down nice and decent sweet. not bad, not extraordinary, just okay.
…some days later… gave it another try by layering it today with jovoy chypre, now it smells really intoxicating after some minutes. it smells so candy soft pink and seductive and it lingers so nice and creamy near the skin !!! mhmmmmmm really delicious, kinda addictive and lasts some hours applied with jovoy chypre as base. i guess there was lack of something to hold and developpe the scent on my skin and jovoy chypre has given it kind a base.
guess this can become one of my favorite combinations for layering.
add. note: Ungaro 2007 Emanuel Ungaro for women, also a scent by Francis Kurkdjian smells exactly the same (less this strange chewing-gum smell) full bodied, better sillage and more complex, will say, as this one should be to be perfect! stunning!

  38. :

    3 out of 5

I agree that at the beginning it smells like overly sweet syrup but little by little it turns to be very similar to JPG Classique…..that’s on my skin…
Did anyone have the same feeling about it ?
Also I wouldn’t categorize as Floral but rather an Oriental gourmand…

  39. :

    3 out of 5

This is fun in a bottle!! I get lots of sweet sugary blackberries mixed with light white floral and musk. This is a rather light scent so the sweetness isn’t too sweet, but just enough to make me want to eat it! This is happy and so easy to like!

  40. :

I have a love/hate relationship with this perfume – love the scent, hate that it disappears after a couple of hours. It’s so frustrating – I have to keep spraying it throughout the day – I go thru a bottle so fast my husband is ready to shoot the UPS delivery person. It’s like a really luxurious body spray, not perfume…sadly I’ve decided to give it up and wait for Salvadore to release F Extreme (I wish).
A new day: Can’t help myself, had to order more of this, even after I swore I wouldn’t. I just find this scent so yummie I’m willing to spray my way thru bottle after bottle. The postman at work today was sniffing me and I swear he was drooling – it was the last drop of my bottle (and the postman has cute legs) so had to order more – I’m possessed!

  41. :

I got a tiny bottle of this for fun. It is really potent and had flowers and a little spice and something sweet and plasticy smelling in it. I didn’t dislike it but it really bangs your head with it’s scent. I might wear a couple of drops for special occaisions but it seems like it might give people around you headaches. I would put it into my high risk perfume category and never wear to work.

F is like a stable proud woman. She never changes, she is soft and beautiful. You will never be disappointed by her. The powder just reminds me of motherhood and the floral happy. I have the lotion and the EDP. I just get happy when I spray this on. BEST fragrance for me in a while for everyday. Will buy this again and again.

  49. :

    5 out of 5

This is sweet, fun & bubbly. I’m reminded of orange sorbet when I smell this on myself, F is very candy like, I smell the honest to goodness old fashioned bubble gum here too.
This surely wasn’t meant to be a ‘serious’ or sexy perfume , it’s light hearted & almost innocent , very youthful .There’s the tiniest whiff of spice , like vanilla bean.
F is a very cute fragrance, kind of what I like to think a little cartoon character would smell like.
Although this has its’ quirky appeal to me for sure, it’s not quite as good as Ferragamo’s other perfume , Subtil, which I’m really taken with, it’s awesome in my opinion.
F is also a very long lasting scent.
    Unique in its’ own way.

  50. :

    5 out of 5

I bought this fragrance because of the multiple comments about bubblegum. I normally don’t like florals, but this is not like any floral I’ve ever smelled. I get a lot of bubblegum, which I LOVE, and it doesn’t go away. The bubblegum note intensifies with time. It’s a smell similar to Dubbl Bubble or Bazooka gum — the old-fashioned kind of bubblegum wrapped in wax paper. I can also smell the floral notes, but thankfully they do not overpower the bubblegum–they complement it. It is a very pink fragrance, and I love the way it smells. How unique!

  51. :

F by Ferragamo is an inspiring fragrance. I love that the fragrance is pretty much the same from start to finish. I love the sweet, heavy, and spicy aroma that this fragrance has. I know that the officially released notes only report three ingredients, but I’m thinking that there has to atleast be some level of amber and a hint of musk added to it somewhere.
F does begin on an overdose of sweetness that can be headache inducing in a warmer climate, but the sweetness does become eveloped in a warm spicy amber type fragrance. This fragrance most reminds me of carmel. Not how carmel smells so much as the richness and complexity of carmel. That first almost buttery note of carmel that makes you think–ooh Yummy! That is exactly what I think when I first spray this on. I really do love this fragrance. On me, it has lasted over 10 hours with no sign of stopping any time soon.
I have to say though, I don’t think this fragrance is appropriate for the spring or summer- most people will find it a bit too heavy for those seasons. It’s strictly a fall/winter fragrance. I rank it an 8 out of 10.

  52. :

    5 out of 5

Just by looking at the bottle, one could forgive you for thinking that this would be a strong, perhaps spicy or dominating scent.
In reality, F by Ferragamo is quite sweet, flowery and feminine.
The initial sweetness in the opening certainly took me by surprise. My nose was assaulted with something that smelt like a bag full of lollies. Thankfully this was a scent that I rather enjoyed.
Later a peppery, almost spicy note made an appearance, adding an unusual twist and providing a good introduction for the entrance of the orange blossom, jasmine and rose notes. I feared that this fragrance would become quite boring with the presence of such predictable florals, however the scent stayed true to its strange yet unique beginning.
I think this fragrance would suit anyone of any age, it has enough versatility to do so. It also could be worn all year round, throughout every season. I urge you all to give F by Ferragamo a try.

  53. :

    4 out of 5

Sweet, but not overpoweringly so. I took a chance on this as it is my first scent by Ferragamo and was pleasantly surprised. FYI I am a big fan of sweet fruity florals for day wear- particularly those with rose/jasmine blends. I do smell a candy-something-or-other earlier on, but I really like the overall balance. This smells different from other fragrances with the same notes. Plus it’s a nice change from some of the sweeter celebrity scents that I smell everywhere (and have gotten somewhat burned out on of over the last few years).
The only drawback was the lasting power on me- I only notice a trace of the scent when sniffing my wrist after about 3.5 hours. I’m a one to two spray kind of gal, but it does last longer when sprayed between my skin and clothes. Although I recently got a bottle, I have a feeling this will be a nice year round scent.

I discovered it just when it was released. Indeed the first notes are bright, yummy then it switches to the language of semi-tones and becomes a kind of tender sweet floral powder with red berries. Well, after two years I found myself still intrigued by the scent and finally bought it. I understand those who are disappointed, they might have expected smth bright and distinctive that lasts from the beginning to the end. Definitely it is not the case. Believe it or not it works on subconscious level, attracting attention as if some hardly noticeable fluids have been spread around by you, creating a tender sweet sensual aura.
Despite the fact that the opening reminds of Insolence with the same grape notes, it evolves in absolutely different direction and unlike Insolence it is a girly scent.
In general the perfumes could be divided in two categories: 1. self- sufficient with bright individuality, sometimes they could overshadow the owner (some Chanel does that) 2. perfumes- accessories, they serve just as a prolongation of your personality, an addition.
So, F could be placed in the second category. To accept it you should accept the fact that it doesn’t create an image from scratch it just adds to it. And I am happy that we are compatible.

As usual, I agree with Malegria… LOL… it is a one time positive feeling and after a few more tries, because it doesnt metamorphose, it leaves you disappointed.

Gorgeus !!! It reminds me of Insolence edt, Hot Couture edt and Apparition. Between them, I love F: it is the most enchanting.

This is a non evolving scent. What you smell is what you get from the beginning to the end.Neroli and jasmin are clear and intoxicating but the rose feels pretty fake. The bubblegum-smell resemblance is true and strong. There is a gourmand effect that strawberry and pistachio usually create.
Overall it’s very femminine and enjoyable but the lack of an”unfolding”nature makes it a bit shallow.

Is it just me or does anyone else smell grape at the beginning?! It’s quite unique, what a pity that it fades very quickly and what stays is an overly sweet chewing-gum-type scent.

Comparing Incantos this fragrance doesn’t smell like exotic fruit shampoo. It actually smells of hard candies at first… You know those colorful many kind little candies that stick together. It dries fruity and flowery with a hint of citrus. It’s like strange flowery orange juice. It had a little spicy somewhere in between, but it won’t stay long. It is intense and stays quite long on skin. But for me- something more complicated and different, please!

I could have sworn this was an oriental floral. I keep on smelling vanilla. It is floral with fruity sweet notes and deepness in the bass. To me the scent is sensual, delicious and full bodied.

I liked it a first, but after a few try-ons got disappointed. It starts with a very pleasant flowery note, neroli dominates, but then it dissolves into a synthetic freshness with an ammonia-like smell. The Subtil was so much better and brighter!

My friends say I’m like a walking chewing gum when i were this. It’s an unatural synthetic sweetness I don’t like at all

I can’t seem to pass from the first notes. I thinks its overly sweet and intoxicating no doubt about it. I believe its the neroli note I dont like.
