Description
Jaguar is launching a new fragrance for men – Excellence constructed as woody-spicy with an oriental note. It aims at successful and confident man. The fragrance hits the shelves in summer 2012.
Fragrance Jaguar Excellence was created by perfumer Richard Ibanez, who enriched top notes with fresh citrusy-spicy accords. The composition opens with luminous grapefruit and mandarin combined with pink pepper. A heart provides floral notes of lily of the valley, iris and orange blossom, to warm you up and to enrich warm and cuddly base notes of vanilla, amber and tonka.
Jaguar Excellence is available in glass flacons, as100ml EDT and 100ml EDP, along with accompanying body care products – 200 ml shower gel. The fragrance has been on the market since July 2012.

I was able to obtain a 100 ml bottle of the EdT at a price lower than what Victory League by Adidas sells for (at the low end!), so I couldn’t pass it up. I mentioned Victory League because I already have a bottle of it and didn’t want to buy one that is similar. Of course some people will say they are similar, and it’s certainly closer to VL than it is to say an aldehydic chypre marketed to women in the 70s, but I find Excellence to be at least one big step up from VL, and I’d go so far as to say that the drydown of Excellence could be very similar to a niche scent’s drydown! The floral element present here is very well done, providing structure and texture without feeling at all “feminine.” It’s not as strong as say a niche amber scent, but it’s certainly strong enough for me. I wouldn’t be surprised if some described this as a cool amber scent, and the only complaint that might make some sense to me is that it’s not all that complex. However, this can be said of many very expensive scents, and sometimes I’m not seeking a complex scent. I was interested in this one when it was selling for around $20 so I’m glad I bought it at a much lower price (and I don’t perceive it as especially similar to 1 Million or an orange creamsicle, and it certainly has “unisex potential”). Also, I think of this as the adult version of Altamir, but this is more “mature.” For example, I’d say it’s closer to Habit Rouge than Pi on the “Mature-O-Meter.”
Note that according to the Parfumo.net site the notes are a bit different for the EdP:
