Thanks to this fragrance I started to get passionate about perfumes. For me it was a beautiful essence made by few simple notes related to the aromatherapy. I didn’t consider it a real perfume.
Now I have to change my opinion due to the variety of notes that compose this awesome, great aroma.
Hope to find it easily and get it back.

I agree with all the positive reviews! Up until finding this on Fragrantica, I never knew Shiseido even marketed fragrances. I buy their makeup (their translucent pressed powder is a staple in my makeup bag) but never looked anywhere else at the Shiseido counter. I am so glad I blind bought this. Energizing is a fresh and clean scent. So true what other reviewers said… it doesn’t smell or feel like you’re wearing perfume with Energizing. You just smell good. It is one of the few scents I have that I would consider buying a backup bottle of. Thanks again Fragrantica reviewers!

I always enjoy wearing this fragrance. I’d agree that it’s a “clean spicy floral” similar to what a few others here describe it. The spiciness (carnation, anise, pepper) is soft but lasts, and blends very well with the floral notes. It’s also not the overly sweet spiciness that makes me feel sick when I wear it. Nothing about this fragrance annoys me, it’s one of the most wearable perfumes I have. I’ve also never known anyone else to wear it, so it’s unique in that way too.

It does exactly what it says on the tin: this scent provides a spark of energy that lifts your spirits. It shouldn’t be listed under floral at all (see correct notes below). This is a spicy and clean non-fragrance. People will not ask you “Wow, what do you wear?”, instead they will compliment you “Mmm, you smell nice.” It’s impossible to go wrong with this one.
Pyramid acc. to Shiseido Europe –
Top Notes: Green Petals, Black Pepper, Cloves
Middle Notes: Star Anise Element, Sheer Floral Bouquet, Jasmine, Heliotrope, Iris
Base Notes: White Musk, Sheer Woods

Really glad I just bought this! Wow it really is energizing but fresh and not headache inducing like so many perfumes these days. It’s really nice and I bought the body cream which is really nice too.

I owned this perfume in early 2000s and I completely forgot about it since then. I got so many compliments when I wore it.
I feel like buying it again. It is light floral, very feminine, a bit spicy and somehow it’s warm. The palette differs from all other perfumes. very recognizable scent.
Yes, I should definitely buy it again!

    I owned this circa 2001-2005.
Not the best time or memories of my life, therefore, this perfume still stands half full in it’s frosted, hazy coral flacon on my old antique dresser, shaped like one of the hundreds of teardrops befallen from my eyes during those torturous years.
One of my signature fragrances is Chloe Innocence, a similar scented jewel, but Chloe is from the glorious 90’s (1995) decade, when t.v. shows, movies, make-up and perfume were all that kept me together, feeling like a young beauty blossoming through terrible times.
Both frosted, both carrying the scent of vulnerability, naivete, sadness, sorrow, melancholic beauty and indescribable softness.

I agree with ELENOSE, this is a misterious perfume. Carnation and musk in a genious combination, give to hard working women energy and peace of mind at the same time.It was my signature perfume for a lot of years. When i wore it, fom the first second i felt an immense pleasure surrounds me and my aura cleane from stress and worries.Αmong the many perfumes of my life, that is the only, that gives me this feeling of Health, I would say.

This perfume is not for everyone in my opinion.
It Opens with a harsh spike given by a bitter spicy carnation that stings the nose.
After an hour the perfum Change completely, on me, and reveal a secret. The little child in every strong and powerful woman. Iris, roses and musk like baby powder. It is so strange and magic. But i love this misterious perfume

I adore this fragrance. I first bought it in 2001. I used to wear it to work everyday. My collegues often told me, that I smelled clean and fresh. I think these two words sum it up perfectly. It doesn’t smell like (you’re wearing) perfume, it’s just a nice, clean, not offensive fragrance. It’s just there, like freshly washed clothes.
I only wear this fragrance during daytime. It’s perfect for office. The longevity and sillage are both moderate. For evenings I love my perfumes a bit louder.

Musky .. woody the smell really energizes as if you just had a bath… Feels great… The only reason I don’t use it now is because of its poor longevity… If the smell stayed it would hv been my signature perfume.

  14. :

Maybe I’m crazy… but somehow it reminds me of Kate Moss Vintage. A lot. I think it may be the anise+heliotrope+musk combination that reminds me of the sweet vanillic almond blossom+musk in KMV.

Shiseido’s Energizing Fragrance is one of those perfumes that no one realizes you’re wearing. Instead of telling you they like your perfume, a person is more likely to tell you that you simply smell nice. Clean, warm and rather uncomplicated peppery floral musk, Energizing Frangrance strikes the nose as a minimal and transparent; the aesthetics seem to fit with the brand in a really coherent way. Somehow this seems like the perfect post workout fragrance.

It’s clean and fresh indeed, but I was hoping for something more fruity. Lily of the valley is a bit too much for me.
As the bottle was orange I thought it’s going to be citrusy.
Might be energizing in some way, but not my taste.

    Zen in a bottle! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh <3 <3 <3
I can;t stop sniffing, feeling calm, sniffing, feeling calm. It really is uplifting!
From what I can recall of Chloe Innocence, (this is going back 10 or more years) it;s pretty much spot on. Innocence is more powdery perhaps (I think? It’s been too long!) but they both have the same feeling. I sniff EF… I am smelling Innocence.
The Body Shop used to stock a Cotton edt (2001 or around then) that came wrapped in cotton material. This also reminds me of that.
It’s clean, dry, fresh, but it’s also warm, snugly, mood lifting. It smells very ‘white’ but not cold or clinical. This is an inviting scent. Not sensuous or alluring, but just the right amount of comforting magic to console and lift the mood. I would wear this year round.
No headaches, no nose wrinkling, just lifted off my feet in a dewy cloud of clean, warm, enveloping cotton ball magic.
A must sniff, if not a must buy.

Powdery pepper, with a slight flowery note.
This smells like what should be the adult version of “babypowder” (if such a thing existed), and in a very good, well-balanced way.
I really love the scent, but I usually use it on my linen and not on my skin. It has a very calming effect, even though it’s titled “energizing”.
To me, a real “Western Zen” perfume 🙂

Simply and clean, softly fresh scent. It’s easy to wear every time every where.Long lasting is good.If you want something is simply elegant try this.

Great for summer days. A clean and fresh floral, but not to simple! Nice sillage and good staying power.

A pleasing carnation/pepper + lily-of-the-valley + jasmine accord at its heart beneath a fog of musk and woods: all a sheer, subliminal wash. Somewhat green, slightly white floral, a quietly odd prettiness. A light comfort food of a scent for hotter days, I wear it when a real/heavy perfume would be too much (exercise, early morning). A bit like a modern, daytime version of a classic Caron. A dominant jasmine brings out a plasticky doll’s scalp hint, which could ruin or enrich the experience (some of us like that sort of thing).

  22. :

    5 out of 5

A very pleasant, uplifting fragrance, which somehow manages to be sophisticated and simple/unassuming at once. Good longevity, discreet, but not too discreet sillage.
I’d say it’s a good summer/day choice for “feminine women”; a good gift idea, too, as even non-floral fans can find something redeeming in this fragrance.

  23. :

This scent, in my opinion can be worn by women of most ages, it doesn’t seem to be restricted to a particular target audience or age group. Fantastic perfume for the daytime especially during summer, I’ve found.
Sophisticated and elegant, yet very light and fresh is the way I would describe it. Lovely for something like a lunch party or a day out on the green.

  24. :

Bitter and green not as special as it’s sister (brother) the Relaxing Fragrance though.
Freshly cut lily of the walley with a hint of pepper.
    Very nice for summer days.

Like this scent. For me it is unique, not boring, sophisticated scent. I am glad that it has some oils and more natural formulation. For me it is white floral, fresh spicy, musky, but not woody at all. And also it is a little bit powdery at the base for me what I like much. And yes, it is DOLL’S HAIR indeed!

  26. :

Oh, how much I love this scent, so uplifting, refreshing and sophisticated in one!
I can’t stop sniffing my empty decant(received from NathalieZ)and wish to have a bottle. Almost a holly gral to me 🙂

I get doll’s hair! Seriously. Smell’s like a doll’s head (rubber doll) before it blooms.
The doll’s head/hair thing reminds me of Gap’s “heaven” perfume, which may not be in production anymore….but that is the only thing similar between the two frags.

Energizing Fragrance is a refreshing scent. Strange that it was launched in 1999 however,I have smelled exactly this kind of scent back in the mid 80s when I was small and that’s still in my memories.
It starts with a hint of peppery note which is not sharp. Then slowly it turns into floral which soon becomes very prominent and noticeable. The floral note has a little tanginess to it which I don’t find here in the pyramid of notes but surely it does have some tangy citrus. The dry down has a little, very little florals left and all that it has is musk and woods.
    Nice scent.

Yesterday i was wearing “Chloe innocence” which i have purchased recently and when i visited department store i don´t know why, but i have sprayed “energizing fragrance” on a tester blot paper. At first it was a bit fresh and citrus, but after a very short while it turned into a complete copy of “Chloe Innocence”!!!! I couldn´t belive my nose! I had to spray it also on my wrist and several additional times onto paper and yes, indeed it was the same, only the small variety with notes, but overall it is “Chloe innocence” with more fresh and citrus note, but only a little bit. It has also the same creamy fresh feeling that “Chloe Innocence” has.
So if you´re looking for a “Chloe innocence” and not willing to spend a fortune, then you might want to try “Energizing fragrance”. It is also an EDP concentration (though it is written it is eau aromatique, but on the back side of the box it is also written that it is EDP) and last amazingly long time! And it doesn´t cost much(well at least in our depratment store, since looking at the prices on ebay my hair is rising)
I was all night long in a nightclub yesterday and it´s smell was so amazingly refreshing!
A must-have now for my collection.

A wonderful, fresh and uplifting scent.
Although there is no citruses here, the flowers along
with the spices, musk and wood wash away dead energy
    making you feel alive.
    You NEED to smell this.
    Words are not enough

Energizing Fragrance is unlike anything I have ever smelled: one part perfume, one part aromatherapy and one part healthy treat! This is an “Eau Aromatique” (or aromatic water) but lasts for quite a while. It is not energizing like citruses are energizing, but more like a fresh wind is enrgizing and tonic for the spirit…
I agree with other reviewers that I swear I could smell citruses (grapefruit, blood orange or pomelo) but there are none listed, anywhere I looked. My mother received a FB from another wonderful member as a gift (Thanks Ellen!) still in the box; and there are all manner of botanical complexes listed as ingerdients in this: from raspberry infusion to seed and nut extracts and all sorts of delicious natural things meant to protect the skin from the normally harsh ingredients in most synthetic creations. This company TRULY goes the extra mile to make a very nice, natural based and skin friendly product without charging an arm and a leg…and IT smells AWESOME!!
Someone on another site mentioned it smelled almost reptilian (not cold and slimy, but very silky and smooth) and I agree. The opening of (I am guessing white) pepper is very subdued alongside the lovely carnation note; though this is not the oily heavy carnation; it is airy and springlike and very, very fresh. As the heart opens, one is greeted with the most lovely wafts of pure flowers: jasmine’s sexy smoothness, iris’ cool sleekness, heliotrope’s dry sweetness with just enough muguet to keep it sheer and green and a hint of rose to round it out and make it lovely. If there is anise here it is light and only adds a hint of warmth to the magnificent blend of botanical beauty! To review this lovely scent: I sprayed the back of my hand once from the 50 ml bottle and touched it gently to the other hand…and I am sitting here 45 minutes later feeling surrounded by utter and sheer beauty, as spices cavort with flowers, and woods and muskiness (very clean) peek through. Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) I have ever tried, sniffed, smoothed on my body from this company is the epitome of quality and just about as close as you can get to smelling “naturally beautiful” short of rubbing flowers in your armpits! 🙂
    Sillage: very good
    Longevity: impressive
    Overall: 4.5/5
Shiseido rocks! No doubt about it, the skin care is quite expensive but for what you get from the perfumes they are worth whatever you have to pay, and luckily for me they are the cheapest (in price, NOT qulaity) of this wonderful company’s products. You get what you pay for, yeah; but you can pay less and still smell fabulous. I must try more from this lovely House. I am reviewing this first thing in the morning and after posting it, I think I will get to some things I have been putting off…color me ENERGIZED!!
About the bottle: yes, it does look like an ear syringe. However, I think they were trying to capture the purity of the “drops of nature” held within…it reminds me of an imp bottle or an apothocary’s jar and it is very ergonomic and feels “right” in your hand! The slightly frosted finish and lovely sheer colour really match the scent…

I bought this perfume 2 years ago after reading a review that says:Ït is a clear copy of Chloe Innocence”.
Since I spend 8 years looking for that perfume I thought I’ll give this one a try and bought it on blind. When I sprayed it on my wrist, well, it was Chloe Innocence!Only the bottle was different.
And then, last year I finally found my Innocence 🙂
Now, after I have both perfumes I can tell similarities (mostly) and differences (which are not so many).
First of all, they both smell extremely similar one to each other. I can’t detect any rose in either of them, neither I can detect carnation, pepper, anise (Energizing Fr.)or violets, bergamot, vetiver (Chloe Innocence). All I can smell are water flowers (probably jasmin, lily of the valey, iris), woodsy notes and white musk in dry down.
Both fragrances are feminine, soft floral and have average lasting power.
Still, despite all similarities, they are not “clear copy”one to each other. While Energizing Fragrance is clear floral scent, Chloe Innocence definetely has a “green” notes (Fragrantica is right about that). I assume the bergamot and vetiver ( even I can’t point my finger on them) give that sharpness.
All in all, if you are looking for Chloe Innocence replacement,or something very close to it, go for Energizing Fragrance!

I bought this quite spontaneous – just after smelling it on paper after 1 min. – boy what a mistake!
don’t get me wrong lovers of this fab fragrance: i loved smelling it first, esp. on paper, but as soon as I put it on myself, the strong pepper-anise-spiciness caused me each and everytime a headache, becoming soon a migraine.
luckily just this one (though have to admit “Obsession Sheer” was almost 2nd).
Just want maybe buyers to warn to really test it before buying. since it comes just in 75ml it’s a lot to consider 😉

I just love both Energizing and Relaxing Fragrances. I had 3 bottles of Energizing, it’s great for every day, it makes me calm and happy.
By the way – never thought about the shape of the bottle)

I’m surprised there is no citrus in this mix. I could have sworn I smelled grapefruit, blood orange and cedar chips.
I did not guess one single note right. except maybe for the lily of the valley. This smells super I actually finsihed three bottles which is rare. I seldom repeat after bottle is done

I find this fragrance as a “sister” smell to Chloe “Innocence”. Very nice refreshing floral perfume. Elegant, feminine, beautiful!

I’m not sure about what to say about this one. I had it for a long time and use it very seldom. Maybe its because the bottle looks just like a syringe, you know the medical instrument used for cleaning ears and other body organs…
But back to the perfume, when I put on people tend to say I smell god. Its an exotic smell. I think the jasmine is the most detectable scent here. Yeah, its a good perfume. I cant explain why I dont use it more often.
