Description

In Spring 2013 Fragonard is launching its fragrant collection Le Jardin de Fragonard which includes four fragrances, perfumed soap, scented candles and diffusers. Each of the fragrances will take us for an olfactive journey and offer a harmonious composition to tingle our imagination.

Encens Fève Tonka takes us for a walk at dusk amid the monasteries of Mount Athos, the roses release their fragrance, and incense wraps us with a warm welcome. The scent incense-tonka offers a unique blend of incense warmed delicately with balsamic and warm Tonka beans aromas. Available as 50 ml EDP.

Started out liking it – but cautiously as strong fragrances give me a headache.
More and more – I grew to really love it.
It just works with my body chemistry and I get a ton of compliments on it.
That smoky mysterious incense and sweet tonka bean scent is almost masculine. Every time I smell it is has a different face. I am even reaching for it in the sticky summer months as the scent, while warm and strong – is not sticky sweet or overpowering.
Even better is that it is not a scent that is worn by the masses – and its uniqueness is, for me, part of the appeal.
Possibly my favorite scent from Fragonard.

This had a lovely incensey sweet aroma to it, but unfortunately as with most Fragonards (in my experience) the fragrance is too light. It is not even about projection, it’s just that I can barely smell it, which has almost never happened to me before.

I love the fruity, incensy beginning notes but the back end is a bit strong and sweet on my skin and too tenacious, sometimes I like perfumes to somewhat melt away so my nose gets a rest, but Ones who want long lasting scents should be happy, especially at the reasonable price to find how rich this is.
Recommend for colder weather as it is a very warm, encompassing scent, spicy incense with sweet tonka and musk. It lasts about 7 hours on me and has a strong lingering presence.
It smells divine on men my roommate loves this so much I will give it to him in exchange for chores.

A beautiful combination, sophisticated in it’s simplicity. A long-lasting delicious scent.
No heaviness here, or blast, or overwhelming aura.
Not out to impress, just the right sureness of touch to allow you to spend the day in your own heavenly cloud of incense and tonka bean.
And for anyone else who’s allowed that close to you.

Unisexy incensey tonka-rose. This one does what it says on the tin. Pretty linear, too. If you are looking for a simple, no-nonsense fragrant companion to keep you company in the form of a soft cloud this winter, this is your jam.

This is a truly unisex smell, leans to masculine. I went to Fragonard shop and did the sniffing to the samples. This immediately attracted my attention. Smoke, incense, tonka, vanilla (maybe from the tonka), I can smell a bit of floral note and clove? Slightly sweet, smoky, definitely elegant and expensive smelling. Too bad the longevity and projection aren’t great. But at this price, you can always re-spray.

Gorgeous! I am truly amazed! This scent manages to achieve the perfect balance yet sensational! The smoke is not harsh or heavy thanks to the hefty input of rose that reigns supreme from the background. Tonka can be overbearing but not here where the sweetness is tempered by the Incense and gives enough depth but without any associations with ashtrays. Exotic with nuances of Oriental in a modern way. Simply superb with good longevity and projection. I have never been to Mount Athos, but had i, i am pretty sure it would smell just like that! A favourite!!!

On me this was quite masculine and relentlessly clove-centric. A pity because I could see it as a less sweet alternative to Tonka Imperieale and Feve Deliciouse. It’s simple, fresh and natural smelling and would be great on a guy.

From a sample sent to me from a dear, dear fragrance friend.. I was sooo excited to see this in my sample box since I’ve been wanting to try it for a while now. I love a smoky Tonka and this does not disappoint. I will say at first I was afraid and dismayed by the strident top notes that come very very close to a sharp, chlorine type note that I abhor; but wait! Give this about 15 minutes and it’s just a gorgeous, Tonka incense, with a wisp of smoke and the rose just barely softening it up a bit. I recently was also gifted a generous sample of Guerlains Tonka snd absolutely loved it.., this to me is in the same arena but not as sweet? Of course I could be very wrong since not very adept at comparing notes, but all you need to know is the Fragonard Tonka is not for those seeking a gentle scent ; it will grab you by the nose at first, but then hold you hostage for a good long time ! A definite wrist sniffer for incense lovers and those who crave an awesome Tonka perfume. FB worthy!

Hadn’t even heard of this brand till a long weekend away in Nice after my GF had told me about it and had a right spray up at the Duty Free to see whether there was anything that took my fancy.
I opted for Confidentiel over this, but only because I have Spicebomb atm, once it’s all gone I will be getting a bottle of this as it’s uncannily like Spicebomb at about half the price.

For men as well. Messieurs do not hesitate.
Between a soft Spicebomb (Viktor Rolf) and L’homme sage (Divine).
    Bergamot,clove,mandarine, Pepper
    Apple, Jasmine, Rose
    Incence, Tonka Bean, vanilla, wood.

I mostly get smoky incense on this one. I’ve received varying reactions to it, though. Some say it’s more of a masculine scent, others say it’s musky and sexual and some just say I smell delicious. In any case, I’m liking it as winter wear, as if I’ve been hanging around the bonfire, toasting something tasty.

This was a blind buy based on reviews here, and I have been looking for an incense scent that I love. Well, I received my bottle in the mail today and I LOVE IT. Like, LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Seriously. At first glance, the packaging is high quality, as opposed to many I’ve bought recently. This is my first Fragonard, and I’m impressed. I really enjoy the top smoky incense note and wish that lasted a bit longer, but when it mellows to a smooth tonka with the woody spicy sweetness, it is just perfect. I could wear this almost every day and be a happy girl. It’s calming, and I don’t get much rose, just a “je ne sais quois” sort of feeling. Did I mention I LOVE this??? Way to go, Fragonard.

I would recommend Encens Reve Tonka to any tonka lover out there, male or female.
It opens with a warm, dry spicy, slightly smoky scent that settles to a sweet, woody, rich tonka and incense loveliness.
It is not overly sweet by any means so don’t be put off if you are not in to very sweet fragrances. The sweetness is not sugary, girly sweetness either, it’s very well balanced.
For me the rose is not that apparent.
I feel that ERT would layer well as a base with other perfumes, maybe some aftershaves too. I have been using it for around a month now and have not yet tried this though as I love it just the way it is!
Sillage is moderate to heavy. I was having coffee in a cafe recently and someone asked me what I was wearing, always a compliment in my book!
ERT has great staying power and lasts for most of the day. I just put on a scarf that I wore last week and it still smelled of ERT! That was how I chose my scent this morning!

    Pure perfection!
A very fresh incense, with a hint of citrus and roses, and an unisex vibe. Sillage is moderate and staying power is good (5 hours on my skin).
It’s winter in Belgium right now, but I can easily imagine me wearing it in summer.
As said before, it has a “niche” aura, like something created by Christopher Sheldrake.
Hope Fragonard won’t discontinue Encens – Fève Tonka – it’s by far one of their best fragrances.

I found myself reaching for this beauty more and more everyday.
It’s different from Fragonard’s floral blueprint.
It reminds me of Meharees from L’erbolario but they don’t smell the same. (they only have the same vibes) however Encens Feve Tonka is my favorite.
A soft but warm spicy rose with a very pleasant incense that wraps you like a cozy blanket.
It’s very relaxing and meditative type of scent. It takes you back to yourself.

Very much a unisex fragrance. Starts off very peppery and slowly settles to a more incense and subtle vanilla. The rose is detectable but soft. Almost a spicy gingerbread smell after a while (without being overly sweet). Great if you’re the kind of woman who likes to wear mens scents (which I am sometimes). And strong? Hell yes! I had a towlette sample of this that I mistakenly used in one hit – I had to wash it off! It wasn’t unpleasant just overpowering. I think that towlette could have lasted me a week!

I got a sample of this and it is great. I really like incense tyoe fragrances and this one nails it! I would call it a unisex fragrance that leans to the masculine. I will buy a bottle and I MIGHT share with my GF….

The topnotes to this scent are a lot of incense and smokiness for about an hour, which could have ended up being bitter, but the tonka comes on strong in the middle notes and softens the incense. The whole mix becomes slowly more lovely and I did not realize until looking at the notes that I was smelling rose. I knew it was floral, but when I saw the rose note I thought ‘aha’ that’s it! The drydown on this scent is really lovely. The smoky incense remains but the tonka sweetens it just enough and the rose softens it so that you imagine yourself sitting in a rose garden outside a church where mass is being said. Surprising scent from Fragonard. It reminds me of a CDG or even a Lutens.
In the drydown I smell tobacco, which accounts for the initial smokiness, but it’s a softer tobacco, and a little leather as well. The fragrance softens to more of a skin scent eventually, which I like. It’s faintly reminiscent of Kelly Caleche EDP, which I love. This could be worn on a summer evening and would be very lovely.

Too weird ! I can’t stand it, to me it’s awful ! Too masculine, heavy, “stinging”, smells like medicine. Not for me at all.

    A modest perfume?!!
    This is a sublime fragrance!
This time Fragonard has made bingo!
And it is amazing how much it looks like Tabac Vanille by Tom Ford.
Just a little ‘softer, more sensuously feminine …
I had a small sample by mail (thanks Fragonard!) and rubbed on my arm I was delighted for hours, sniffing and sniffing I fell in love and soon I will buy it.
Tonka, vanilla, spices, tobacco, fig perhaps to freshen it up?
An odalisque abandoned between scented silk pillows, her hair smelling of vanilla smoke hookah and she is eating delicious rose loukum …
    I love it!

This is a modest perfume and suitable for every day to wear.
I get a lot of tonka bean which I like and the incense is really good combined. Not overbaring at all.
The rose is there but you have to pay attention to notice it.
