Description

“An ultra-fresh citrus blend of zesty lemon, tangy grapefruit and lime is further invigorated by leafy galbanum and the sweet harmony of lily of the valley, rose, and jasmine in Roja’s Elysiuim Pour Homme eau de Parfum.Made fruity by crisp apple, the heart is warmed by pink pepper and woody notes, where a soft base of benzoin and smooth vanilla is made sensual with labdanum and ambergris which reinforces the musk in the top.” – a note from the brand.

Elysium Pour Homme Parfum was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Roja Dove.

Amazing versatile Fragrance. Much stronger and deeper than the Parfum Cologne version and 2.5x times the performance (I use 4 sprays of the Extrait and get 12 hours, while 12 sprays of Cologne get me around 4.5-5 hours, so I end up applying again after 4 hours, for a total of about 20-24 sprays with Cologne version).
That makes the price difference much more bearable. This fragrance can be classified in the same genre as Aventus, Blue de Chanel, Sauvage etc, but it doesn’t smell like any of them. You can tell right away, the ingredients used are of the highest quality and that nothing in the market really smells like this. So the uniqueness is very high, even in this so popular genre of fragrances.
It doesn’t really have to be daring or animalistic to be a great fragrance and this proves it. It starts with a fresh burst of citrus (I pick up a lot of grapefruit, some tart lemon and bergamot), which then transition to a beautiful vetiver dominated mid, which is then sustained by the backbone of vanilla, ambergris and some wood notes. Signature fragrance worthy for someone that is not looking to own a lot of frags, that is if you have the funds to use this as a daily wear. As for me, I’m just sticking with a decant, because a full bottle will cost you even more than Aventus. Something like $500 for a 50ml I believe.

Scent – light sweetness, citruses, woody & musky.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
    Projection – I did get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
    Longevity – I get 10hrs consistently.

How has no one specifically singled out vetiver? It’s one of the most dominant notes that comes off this frag. I actually got concerned I got sent his Vetiver frag sent in the wrong bottle. Vetiver + bright ‘citrusy’ stuff up top. Not what I was expecting from smelling the Parfum Cologne (blue bottle)! Good thing I love vetiver? Haha.

First, let me preface this by saying I wouldn’t buy this at full price. That said…
I love this stuff. It does have sort of a crowd-pleasing designer vibe going, it does remind me a bit of a cross between Aventus and BDC, but more natural and sophisticated. Initially, I get a lot of citrus and cedar, as it dries you start get the ambergris and juniper. On my skin, it begins to morph into something that kind of resembles raspberry a couple hours in. This is definitely the most wearable Roja fragrance, and perfect for summer. It’s fresh, it’s clean, a little woody, not too sweet, and something no one would ever dislike.
The main advantage Elysium has over scents like BDC is performance. Elysium lasts. I can still smell it the next morning a lot of the time. Projects quite well also. This is kind of a big deal considering how comparable scents tend to have a reputation for struggling in the performance department. If you like BDC but wish it lasted longer than 2 hours, give Elysium Parfum a go.
Now, the big question: is it worth the money? At full retail price, I would say probably not. I managed to snag a bottle on a discount site for about half retail and was very happy with that purchase. I don’t think I could bring myself to pay full Roja prices for something that isn’t particularly unique, though. It’s a very good scent, special in its own way, and if it were 150.00-200.00, I’d say everyone should run out and buy it, but it’s just not 450.00 good, in my opinion. Value is relative though, so if you can afford to throw the money around, sure, go for it.
Overall, I’d say 8/10 just because of the price point. Fantastic fragrance, would be a 9 or a 10 if it were a bit cheaper, but in cases like this, the price has to factor in.

    Just received my sample today.
This is going to be my new scent, perfect….
5 mins after spray and can definitely pick up a black currant in there. Just wait to see how it dries down.
Definitely going to buy a full bottle

High-class, masculine, citrus scent which opens very similar to the pineapple note offered in Creed Aventus pour Homme. The fragrance finishes with strong grapefruit.
Roja Dove signature quality throughout this masterpiece. I switched from Creed Virgin Island Water, as Elysium lasts a little longer where people can actually smell it long enough to offer a compliment.
Clean, fresh, pleasant, unique, and slightly sweet. Rather linear and leans masculine. Like Creed Virgin Island Water, I don’t think you can overspray Elysium. It’s office worthy and non-offensive.
I highly recommend Roja Dove Elysium pour Homme in Parfum if you enjoy fresh, high-quality, natural scents that are light/pleasant and nicely behaved.
    Elysium is for a gentleman.

A likable, slightly more dense version than the now-ubiquitous Parfum cologne version of Roja Elysium Pour Homme, the parfum version still has the essentially fresh woodiness that makes the blend so pleasant.
To my nose, yes, the Parfum (but more so the Parfum Cologne) is similar to Creed Aventus, mainly due to the blackcurrant that I somehow detect prominently (Atelier Cologne Musc Imperial has it). Beyond that, it’s mainly a combination of citrus, woods, and musk. The scent itself is easy-to-wear, agreeable, not terribly masculine, and even at the parfum concentration, still more of a warm weather option.
The price ($485 for 50ml) is what’s most prohibitive, as I imagine many would pine for a stronger-performing warm weather scent, but this is a little too unoriginal for the price.

As described by many, it smells very reminiscent of other things, although they say designer-ish. I get a lot of Ambergris—remincient of Every Storm a Serenade (which I believe was a black Ambergris). I also get a custom leather note, with a lovely Benzoin accord, and a backdrop of vanilla and greens that enliven the citrus aroma. It has a strong Aventus/Club de Nuit Intense Man vibe, but sweeter, a bit more complexified, and with Rojas smooth, luxury finish glazed over the top of it.
Can’t compare it to the Cologne yet, but Elysium Parfum would be nice to own if you can afford it. I wouldn’t say that it’s something the average person should just rush out and get. I don’t think it has that kind of wow-factor to it.
Projection and longevity was pretty poor for a luxury parfum. Another Aventus that doesn’t last—more than a bit disappointing.

    Oh, wow.
I sampled 192 fragrances so far, from the most hyped to the most obscure, from the cheapest to the most expensive. I liked a very small number of these over the years, and I think Creed make some of the best I tested and used so far. I still haven’t found a fragrance that I like enough to designate as my signature. Today I sampled my first 2 Roja fragrances, including Elysium, without high expectations.
To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Next to this, the best fragrances I wore in the past seem plain and shallow. If most niche fragrances are a significant step up from designer fragrances, I think Roja is a similar step up from most niche fragrances.
I discovered that the fragrances I tend to like most are fresh and clean. I find Elysium to be that and a lot more. It’s also rich, yet subtle. It’s something I think would go well with the best, most luxurious, most understated casual attire. The best casual shirt made with the best possible materials, tailored to perfection, without any logos or screaming patterns, one that you can tell from the rest not because of the branding on it, but because it just looks and feels right.
I need to wear this more and also test other Roja fragrances, but I think I’m finally on the right track for a signature fragrance.

The scent is very nice and as mentioned by a million others, certain facets are reminiscent of both BDC and Aventus, but yet it’s different in its own right. It’s bright, citrusy, fruity, and woody. The only drawback here is the performance. It lasts 5-8 hrs, but the projection on my skin is very very soft.

I wish people would review the smell and not the price point on perfumes. Can’t stand people who can’t afford it and so rate it bad because of that, even if they like the smell. REVIEW THE SCENT. Humans are weird folk

    (parfum concentration)
The below review by minigrenouille pretty much nailed it on the head. Elysium is pretty much a cross between Bleecker Street and Cedrat Boise, but also in the vein of Creed Aventus. My enthusiasm for Aventus has somewhat worn off so I was hoping Elysium would be a higher quality diamond to Aventus’s gold. Unfortunately Elysium has a weird tinge to it that puts me off from it, possibly the juniper berries but I’m not entirely sure. Elysium is a no-go for me.
I personally don’t care if Rodge re-creates older fragrances like Guerlain or other companies, just using higher quality ingredients. Roga Parfums are of the utmost quality and bring me joy.
By the way Fragrantica got the notes wrong so here they are straight from rojaparfums.com:
    Top Notes:
Lemon, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lime, Lavender, Thyme, Artemisia, Musk
    Heart Notes:
Lily of the Valley, Rose de Mai, Jasmin de Grasse, Apple, Blackcurrant
    Base Notes:
Galbanum, Pink Pepper, Cypriol, Vetiver, Cedarwood, Juniper Berry, Benzoin, Vanilla, Labdanum, Leather, Ambergris, Musk

Too bad the opening doesn’t last more than 5 minutes, it’s a beautiful tangy and sharp grapefruit, somewhat reminiscent of TdH. It then quickly morphs into a peppery, musky, woody drydown that remains somewhat linear after than. I do not get much of the floral middle notes that are listed, or the vanilla and labdanum; too bad, because this is where Roja perfumes usually shine. The longevity is 4 hours tops, sillage is great in first 5 minutes then settles down very quickly. A little disappointed in this. Where’s the complexity and brilliant blending we normally see in Roja Dove perfumes?
